And so I'm inviting on to the podcast today, the wonderful Jackie, and she has a gorgeous story to share. Rebel Jackie. Hello. Welcome welcome to the JOY broadcast. I'm so excited to have you here.
B
Hi, Ellie. Thank you so much for having me.
A
You're so welcome. Now, first of all, we have to talk about where you live, because you live in paradise. Tell everyone where you live. If you need a bit of an inspirational story on where. Where to go and live other than rainy England, it's this.
B
Originally, I'm from South Africa, but about five years ago, just after Covid, we decided to make a big shift and we moved to. To sunny Seychelles.
A
So I can just imagine the sea. I bet the color is just amazing. I think that's part of my dream to be able to. To just walk out of my bedroom and see the sea.
B
Look, it's beautiful.
A
Yeah. Can you do that? You're on a top of a hill, aren't you?
B
Yes. I have an amazing view. We've been here now for about eight months. We moved eight months ago into this home and it's incredible. We now have a view. It now feels like Seychelles.
A
It makes sense, but it hasn't always felt that way. Right. You've got a bit of a story to share about where you. Why you moved to the Seychelles, and perhaps how it wasn't just as easy and plain sailing as you thought it might be. Would you like to tell everybody your story? I'm going to hand the floor to you.
B
Okay. So, yeah, it was just after COVID lockdown. We decided that we wanted to actually give our son a much simpler life than the big hustle bustle of the city. And opportunities came up in Seychelles. And we thought, well, you know, why not?
A
Why not indeed?
B
You know, I had visions on of postcards and everything that everybody pictures when they think Seychelles is what I had pictured. But that was not exactly what we arrived to during the transition period of. Because of COVID we had to be in quarantine for a month. So we quarantined in Austria. And during that time, I found out that the business that I was actually supposed to be part of had either fallen through or was never ready to be materialized.
A
Oh, no. God, that must have been heartbreaking.
B
It was. Especially considering I had come from my own very successful business in South Africa and sold up everything to start this new journey. So, you know, a bit of a planner, needed everything to be organized and in line and then to find out that once everything is sold, there is no way of turning back. That where you're going is actually nothingness.
A
Oh, God, that must have just been terrifying. Especially if you're in the middle of Quarantine. It's not like you could do anything.
B
Yeah. Oh, yeah. My feet actually still get a little bit hot when I think about it.
A
I bet they do. What was your, what was the business that you sold in South Africa?
B
I had a lifestyle center.
A
Wow.
B
So I actually had two. One that grew with me. I started it at 23 and it just, it grew with me through every stage of my life.
A
Yeah.
B
So it went just from a beauty salon into incorporating a hairdressing salon. Then I included a mothering center. Then I included ladies to come in and do maternity talks and first aid classes. And then we did a playground because all my moms, all my clients were suddenly new moms and they had all these little kids and they weren't getting to their appointments. So then we built a playground and we had somebody looking after the kids so that moms could still come and get their time.
A
Yeah.
B
So that grew. That grew with me. And then I had another successful business in Sun City, which is one of our really big entertainment centers for more express treatments. So that wasn't as much lifestyle, but more express, just for the ladies to come in while on holiday, get their things done, you know, if they had a dinner then they could have their hair done, have their nails done, that sort of thing. So that, that wasn't my baby. My baby was my lifestyle center.
A
Yeah.
B
I had that, I think about 12 years. 12, 15 years.
A
Wow. So let's go back to quarantine. You're in quarantine, you've sold your business, you thought you were going to new one. It's gone.
B
Yes.
A
How are you feeling at that point you said you get hot feet.
B
Yeah.
A
It must been absolutely terrifying.
B
It was terrifying. It was, it was soul crushing. To be honest. I can't even say that it was terrifying. It was just. There was so much, so much fear and so much disappointments and so much betrayal and you know that I just, I couldn't believe that I had actually managed to get myself into this level of mess considering how I had been on top of everything for the rest of my life. So there was no turning back. I had already sold the house, so we had to move forward.
A
Yeah.
B
And then when we got to the Seychelles, I had been told that there would definitely be space for my son at the only English speaking school on the island. Only to get there and for them to tell me that, no, there's actually a three year waiting list now.
A
And just, God, if you couldn't have gotten any lower, the whole reason for
B
going was your son so then I started. I started trying to homeschool him, and I was homeschooling him, but it was just. It was just too difficult. It was not what I wanted to do. And it was creating a massive conflict between us, actually, because, you know, I was the fun mom and I was supposed to be the safe place. And who do you go and bitch to about your horrible teacher if the person you bitch to is actually the teacher that you want to bitch about? So, you know, that was a disaster.
A
Yeah.
B
And eventually I just said, you know, I've managed to find a school on another island, Pralin. And so then my husband was already. He had already set up his little business on my hair when I said, well, this is it. I can't do this anymore. There's just too much. And there's just so much negativity attached to this whole move and this house and everything. Yeah. That I've got to go. It's. I'm either going back home or I'm moving to another island because something's got to give.
A
Yeah.
B
So if we went. Things in Seychelles don't work quite as easily as you used to. To find a home, we couldn't just jump online and go to a real estate agent and see anything that was for rental. We had to go get on the ferry, come across here, hire a car, and then just drive around and speak to locals because there is no rental agency. So you stop at the bakery and you ask, do you know anybody who's renting a house out? And then drive to the next little coffee shop and ask around there. So it was quite a. Quite an adventure. Eventually we did get a home and moved in there, and then things seemed to be like they were going to be settling a little bit, but it just got. On a smaller island, your resources are even smaller, you know, when you're trying to find your feet and stuff. I remember just standing and walking into what they call a grocery store, and I just burst into tears. And I was like, I can't. I actually can't do this.
A
This is.
B
This is crazy. Where's my Woolworths? Where's. You know, this is just. It's, you know, reminded me of the really dodgy little corner cafes from when I was three that my parents told me, you're not allowed to go into those shops. That's where crazy people. Ha. So, yeah, it's been quite a. Quite a journey.
A
Was that your rock bottom in. In that grocery store, or did it get worse before it got better?
B
I think that was my Moment that I wouldn't say that was my rock bottom. That was my moment where I said, well, I either have to make this work or I have to leave. And I then said, okay, I have to make this work. So I think there were a few other little rock bottom moments after that. For sure.
A
Yeah.
B
But that was the moment that went, okay, you either all in or you all out.
A
So it was a decision. It started with that decision of like, I always think about the movie, the holiday, and Kate Winslet always talks about getting gumption. You get to that moment where it's just like, right, get your gumption, get your big girl pants on, make the decision and just is no option for it not to work. So it sounds like you got to that point 100%.
B
What happened next after that? Let's see, what happened next? The new house, although it looked incredible, I mean, looked incredible on a standard of what we had to choose from. It just, I just felt myself getting lower and lower and lower. It really was just sucking the life out of me. I couldn't, I couldn't get a work permit. So I was unable to actually get myself working. I was now stuck on a tiny island without my family, without my friends, unable to work, fully reliant on my spouse, fully blown into stay at home mom mode, which sounded fantastic at the time, but I had attached so much of my identity and who I was to the success of my business that I was just so unfulfilled and so unhappy in all these roles. So I went back to what I thought, you know, I needed to create a community around me. I needed to get, get things going. So I joined all the things that I thought would bring me joy. I joined a book club because I thought I needed to be around people to be able to read. That was a disaster. I couldn't stand it. The woman with everybody was just so much gossip and no reading, you know, And I had a very strict rule in my salon about gossip, that if you were caught gossiping about any of the clients, then you were bas asked to leave immediately because it's supposed to be a safe place where women come in where they can feel safe. And if I hear you talking about another client, then she's also not stupid. She also knows then that you're talking about her. And it just becomes, you know, a really slippery slope. So that really affected my self confidence when I sat in this room with these women, all talking about all these other people and I thought, oh my God, what are they saying about me when I leave this Space.
A
Yeah.
B
So that was a disaster. I then decided, well, the reason I came here was to spend a whole bunch of time with my son. And the homeschooling thing wasn't working out for me. So I joined the pta, got myself fully, fully engrossed in the PTA as an executive role, because the overachiever in me couldn't just bake cakes, of course. So I landed up in the treasury of the PTA for, I think, three, two, three. Three years, which I absolutely despised because I had people running my accounts before. So although I could. I know how to do it, I never enjoyed doing it. And it just became so, like, everything was just not. Like, I just couldn't find my space. And eventually, I think, you know, for me, I'd always said that I was a happy person.
A
Yeah.
B
And I knew that I was having different experiences with different people because I was happy. Like, I've said to you before, where I had a woman say to me that she stopped using a grocery store because the lady behind the counter was miserable, and it put her in a foul mood every time. And I thought that. I think the lady's really super friendly. And I started looking to see what the difference was. And the difference was that when I walked up, I was like, hi, how are you? How's your day? Yeah, people can't be miserable around you if you're not miserable.
A
Yeah, like attracts like, right?
B
Yes, 100%. So I kept going, like, I'm trying so hard to elevate myself to get myself happy again, and I'm surrounding myself with people, and this isn't working because they don't know me. I need to now get back to my joyful, happy place, but on my own. I needed to not be attached to the success of my business. I needed to not be attached to being around other happy people. I needed to not be attached around. Okay, yes, obviously, being attached around being a mom. I mean, it's my favorite thing in the world. But, you know, I wanted to create joy within myself again that nobody could take away from me, you know? And I think that's. That's where you came in. Because the thing that really resonated with me was you went, I'll show you how I healed myself. Happy.
A
Yeah.
B
And I was like, yes, yes, that is. And then you're just on you joy. You know, your joy moments. Just on you. And that's why I started to really work backwards and go, okay, fine, so you enjoy reading. You don't have to attach that to being in a Group of women who read. So now I read, but I don't do it at book club. And I still read with a glass of wine, but I don't do it at book club. You know, I left the PTA is in an executive role also, so that I had a lot more time to focus on my business, which eventually came after all the struggles. But now the one thing that I will not give up is I'm the. I'm the librarian. And if somebody told me that I was going to be a librarian in the school library a couple of years ago, I would have thought, they've lost the plot.
A
Do you know what? That's my dream job. That's my dream job. I've said, when I retire, I'm going to be a librarian. Just to be surrounded by books. Books. My boys call me as such a weirdo because books are like my friends. I don't know whether you're the same, Jackie, but yes, my books. I can go back and I just. Oh, I know I need to go and have a word with that book. And it's like a puddle off the shelf, like an old friend. And it's been like, read. And I know exactly, because I've got a bit of a photographic memory, so I can kind of find the page that I'm looking for, and it's like, all there. So. Oh, and I want to go back to something you just said a minute ago, because I really want to emphasize what you just said, because I think this is where true joy and happiness lies. It's when you can do it without attachment. Joy is something when you don't have to attach it to a person, a place, a thing. It's, as you said, it's like when you can find joy within you. It's me just on you, flipping it.
B
I think when it becomes a little bit more like, joy is not a performance, but it becomes an embodiment. Yes.
A
Oh, say that again. Joy is not a performance, but it's an embodiment. Yes. Yes.
B
You know, so that's. I think that's very much where. Where you came in with me, showing me that I didn't have to attach my joy to other things. It's that just on you. So much of who I was and so much of made me happy was based on my success, was based on my friends, based on my family, that I would never, ever have thought for a second that I could just take a walk on the beach by myself for half an hour because I would have needed to go with a friend. So that we could chat and we could, you know, feed off each other. Now I get all overwhelmed or feeling a little bit, you know, if you, and get in the car and drive down to the beach and I can take a half an hour walk by myself and just enjoy it, you know, And I think that that was a major, major shift for me.
A
I think I'm coining a new verb. I've been trying to educate the Internet on this, but it's to joy. It's to take just time on you, isn't it? It's just to joy. 100% is just on you to find the joy. Jackie, tell us now about your business. So you've. How did you then move through? You've just touched on the fact that you have a business now that you've built. Tell us a bit about that and how did you shift into, to creating that?
B
So when we moved the second time to our small little island and we really struggled to find a home and we eventually did find one, I could feel that it was sucking everything out of me. It just wasn't mine. It wasn't good. It looked okay. I mean, it looked great, but it was just so, so, so very wrong. And with everything else, I just wasn't managing while I was trying to elevate myself out of this terrible place, I wasn't managing to actually get anything to stick. I mean, I've done coaching, I've done, you know, I've studied all of those things. I've studied mindfulness, I was trying all these things, but nothing was sticking. And then I came across Kimberly, actually.
A
Gallagher.
B
Yeah. Yes, yeah.
A
Feng shui flow. Just side note for everybody.
B
And she was talking about energies in homes. And I thought to myself, you know what, this makes perfect sense because I am a Reiki master. I have studied in depth reflexology. So when she started speaking about the non energetic zones of the home, which is probably one of the most absurd concepts that people struggle to maybe grasp, it was the one that made the most sense to me because I immediately pictured reflexology feet. You know, those little feet with a map on that says this is where your eyes are, this is where your liver is, blah, blah, blah.
A
I love reflexology. My mum used to do reflexology on me. So I've just, I've always loved it. James and I, in the evenings, just maybe too much information, but we, we sit on the sofa and do each other's feet.
B
Yeah, well, so it made sense to me if I'm prepared to accept that I have a liver in my Foot, then surely I can accept that, you know, I have a helpful people area in my home.
A
It's.
B
Yeah. Makes the most sense. So then I started thinking. Then I tried to actually feng shui my own place, and it was just. It was really complicated because there's so many different schools of feng shui and a lot of it didn't really make sense. And then again, the person in me that needs to know how everything works, I decided that I'm actually not going to ask Kimberly to feng shui my property. I'm going to do the full practitioner course with her so that I can do it myself. Because if this was going to work, I needed to know why it was working or why it wasn't working, so that I could just either do it again if need be or write it off as nonsense. And from the minute we started with the course and I started implementing everything, I started to see what a huge difference it was making. Yes. On an energetic level. The elevations of things just not feeling so drained, you know, actually wanting to be in my home again and not trying to avoid it because it was so exhausting, but linking it back to nervous system from all my other studies as well, it just made a lot more sense, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
That. To have everything around you, that. That boosts you, that elevates you, you know, so you work on an energetic level, but then you actually work on another, like a surface level. And I don't know which really comes first. It's a little bit like the chicken and the egg.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, is the house making me feel bad or do I feel bad because of the heart, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
So anyway, that's then studied feng shui and again took it even further, even deeper than just home analysis. And I've worked now through the ladies I'm working with now is how your environment actually stabilizes your identity.
A
Oh, I love how you've matched that. Match that to your story. Yeah.
B
Because a lot of my identity was attached to things, again, external. But if now I, when I started, started to understand the dynamics of my home, it gave me something almost bigger to believe in and something to reinforce who I was. And I will always have a roof over my head, so I can always use this to stabilize my expansion, you know, through my environment. And that's very much the work that I do with my clients.
A
Oh, that's just so lovely. I've been doubling in feng shui, too, since I met Kimberly, and she's been on the podcast. She's done my home enough analysis and I'm working with Stephanie as well. From Nine Lemons Feng shui at the moment to. Our home is very old and it had. It was built by a tycoon of industry, and then it was taken over in the war and it had. A lot of the generals live here while they were going on down to the Somme. So you can imagine the energy in this house was one of, like, big bravado, but also. Also one of quite terror because they were literally going to the Somme, probably knowing that they were going to die. Then the house fell into disrepair for several years, probably a couple of decades before it was taken over by another. Was taken over by the mayor of Ripon. And again, he was quite. Well, he was an interesting character, should we say, a lot of male energy. And I could feel when we moved into this house, it was a beautiful home. But we were in a. In our transition at that time with, you know, creating our identity as who we were, who we wanted to be. We were doing a lot of the healing, the healing yourself happy came through the whole of this home. So it took on a lot of our energy. So I've been healing my home and building a relationship with the home. And she's. She's told me she's called Grace. So I have conversations with Grace every day. And I cannot say, you know, that the power of having that relationship with my home has been transformational. So I totally get the beautiful link that you've got with the home and the identity of people, because it can. Yeah. Stabilize the expansion. That's such a beautiful phrase to say that. I definitely feel that has been happening here.
B
A home can, without a doubt, make or break. Make or break, you. It's the home that we had moved into, actually. Nobody had managed to survive there longer than six months. Yes. That's why it was available. Speaking to the local community, they had actually said that that house was cursed.
A
So what have you done? What have you done? Tell us, what have you done to lift the curse? What did you do?
B
Well, that was the old house. That was the old house. And strangely enough, actually the thing that really solidified the fact that not that I believe in curses, but that there had to be something. I've spent a lot of time almost specializing in the cycle 9 energy, so. So yes, I do the feng shui, without a doubt, and I run those number combinations because I do the flying stars. But I've spent years now understanding exactly what Cycle 9 Energy is doing and bringing up for females specifically.
A
Can you talk us a little bit for the Listeners who don't know what Cycle nine is. Can you tell us a bit more about what Cycle nine is?
B
Okay, so in feng shui or in just actually energetics, we have different cycles. Cycle 9 is a 20 year cycle that we are currently in. Next year we'll be going into our fourth year of Cycle nine energy. So. And then you have annual cycles within that broader spectrum. So, yeah, a lot of the time when you are say on Instagram and you've got certain, I call them influences.
A
Yeah.
B
Who possibly only know one section of some things, they're all about the fire horse energy or they're all about the shedding of the snake. But they haven't put into perspective what that means within a greater cycle.
A
Got you. So they're jumping on a trend based on something that they've heard rather than knowing the full.
B
Yeah, okay, 100. So cycle nine is very much, much about. It's the shift from Cycle eight, which was an earth energy, very stabilizing energy, but a very young masculine energy. I say this as in characteristics of the energy, not male and female. Okay, yeah, yeah. And that was very much about, I'm going to do this and I'm going to get it done. Doesn't matter who stands in my way. And you could sort of see that through the type of businesses or the type of entrepreneurs that really excelled in Cycle eight. And a lot of women got exceptionally good at performing within Cycle eight and they built incredible things and they built incredible businesses. But they have now felt over the last three years something so much deeper calling inside of them that they no longer want to perform, but they want to embodied. They've woken up and said, you know what, there's got to be a better way to do this. You know, And I speak of it often between the difference between success and fulfillment.
A
Yeah.
B
Where they've built something so incredible, but when they've reached that final destination of I now have everything I wanted, they sit back and go, well, what was this for?
A
It's the same as when you talk about your home early. You talked about the fact that your home looked beautiful and it looked wonderful, but it was felt.
B
Yes.
A
Off. It's the same, isn't it? Success can look great, but if it doesn't feel great, there's a mismatch, isn't there?
B
So what I say to a lot of my clients is, I say, you know, it's not. Women are not tired of being successful. They're just tired of performing in a system that no longer feels aligned to them. You know, so you don't want to have to do this. Hustle, bustle, all of that crazy. Go get, go get, go get. The energy itself has moved into a far more intuitive. It's more. There's an emotional intelligence behind the way that this energy has shifted. And a lot of women are feeling that pull, but they are still stuck in the system of doing things the way that they were rewarded for the results in Cycle eight. So the reason I got so, except with Cycle nine, was because I had been feeling this pull. And Kimberly did a workshop on Cycle nine and I was like, yes, that makes sense, I get it, blah, blah, blah. But, you know, it's also still all a little bit up in the air, nothing real. And then true as nuts. The day that Cycle nine energy hit. So it also shifted that the fire was now coming in from the south. Our home went disastrous because our home was facing water.
A
Right.
B
So that's. You, like, you're not supposed to have water in the south, because at the moment, that's where the fire is coming in from. And everything went completely upside down. And then my husband's business burnt down. No, burnt to the ground. Completely gone. I mean, I laugh now because it's just, it's. It's something that I can't even fathom to think, like we were just sort of coming. Right, and then everything just completely burned down. That was in the south of our garden, exactly where the energies were coming in. And I thought, oh, my God, there has to be some sort of truth
A
to this because, yeah, some kind of message.
B
If the universe wanted to tell me that this fire energy is important, it's, you know, it's made its point now.
A
Yeah, I get it. I see you.
B
I'm listening, I'm listening.
A
I got you.
B
So that's actually where the obsession came from. And it was from there that. That I got really, really serious about implementing the Feng shui in our house and everything. And within, I would say within six months, everything settled. I still didn't love my home, I'm not going to lie. But everything was so much easier. I came back to myself, my husband's business, things we had been working on for five, six years, just that kept getting stuck. You know, you can just get there, but you don't get there. Suddenly those contracts were getting signed and we're like, okay, but we've been at this for four years now. Now all of a sudden, you know, it's come through. So that's. And then, what can I say? You can outgrow your space And I think that's often what. That's definitely what happened to us is that I also say that, you know, your home is. When I explain to my clients, your home is two things. It's first your container. And as that container is when we work and we make you feel safe within that container and we balance the energies. We've got to first make it safe. Once we've done that, then you can now your nervous system is settled, it's calm now. You're ready for expansion. Then you can use your home as a vehicle, and that vehicle can then traject you forward. So there's two sides where I'm always working with my clients. Where are you at? Are we now? Are we first creating safety through the energies and the nervous system, or are we now propelling forward? Because you can't propel forward without safety. And you also can't, you know, you can't just sit safely when you know you've been called for more. So, you know, that's why I say, like, where are we? Are we in container or are we in vehicle mode? And so first, for two years, I had to create container mode in that home just to resettle everything that had gone on for the last four years prior to our immigration. And I think for me, even it was so much more, because with all that unsettling things, a lot of other things were coming up to the surface that I hadn't dealt with. There was suddenly I was feeling the loss of my miscarriage, which I had left behind me forever ago. I was suddenly feeling the devastation of a divorce that I chose. So all these things, you know, they were just spiraling up and up and up. So I had to first create that container. And then when we said, okay, we actually ready now for expansion, and I reactivated the energies now for more of an expansion element. Within six months, we moved into our dream home. And it's the home that I had my eye on for about three years, but I could never get in it. But I knew when we were on the beach or we were on the boats and I looked up, there was that house right at the top of the hill. It was like the princess's little castle at the top of the hill. I was like, I am going to be in that house. And we've been here now for about eight months.
A
Wow.
B
And it's amazing. But the energies in here were also quite tricky. It's a little bit of a naughty house. It's taken a little bit of time for me to stabilize at first. So although I originally said this is just going to be an expansion house. It. It's taken a little bit of time for me to create a container environment first, and now we're busy moving forward into expansion mode.
A
So tell me about your expansion. What are your dreams? What's your vision? Where do you want to go next? And how are you going to be using Joy to do that?
B
I'm going to be using Joy as part of who I am. It's now back. It's now. If you are joyful, you are met with joy. And when you are met with joy, then you are really pretty much unstoppable. If things can't shake you because you're happy, then it's okay. And I'm not talking, you know, fake it till you make it kind of happy. It's like a genuine, genuine, heartfelt joy that you. So that's, I think, within my business. I can see it's growing and it's expanding and I think a lot of it has to do with me. Not. I mean, you don't want to come to me and me tell you that you can change your whole life when I'm sitting behind feeling so sad for myself.
A
Exactly.
B
You're going to look at me and think you've completely lost your mind. How are you going to show me how to be better if you yourself don't have it? So, yeah, that is definitely where Joy is going to stay with me, is that it feeds me. It really, really does. My plans are not 100% ready to go public with them.
A
You're working on them. Keep them in your journal. You're so fine. You can come and declare those anytime you feel ready.
B
So, yeah, I'm not. There's a couple of things that we still have in place that I need to sort out and set out, but I think it's safe to say that this will not be our final destination. This won't be our final home. And I feel confident that everything is going to move forward very, very well.
A
I know it will be. Just speaking, just speaking to you now. I'm absolutely no doubt that it will. Tell me, for anybody who's listening and who has been inspired by your journey and wants to work with you to create that stabilization in their home ready for expansion. How can they get hold of you, Jackie? How can they find you? Where can they find you?
B
So at the moment, you can find me on Instagram. It's called the Feng Shui formula.
A
Find you there. I'll put it in the show notes.
B
Yeah, but, yeah, and the web page. My website is also feng shuiformula.com.
A
perfect.
B
And there will be a podcast link in the show notes by the time that this actually goes. Yes, that's very exciting.
A
That is so. Well, there's your first expansion that you've just declared.
B
There we go. I think, you know, a lot of the concepts within feng shui and identity work and all of that, that it's just, it's too big a concept to get across in a 30 second reel.
A
I've got. Yeah.
B
So, yeah, so that's why we just, you know, start a podcast. Follow Ellie.
A
Thank you. I have one final question. I know that you've been with me now for, I would say at least six months. You've been in the Joy Rebellion for a few months and we've worked together on your human design. If anyone's listening, what would be your experience? What would you like to share about being a Joy Rebel?
B
Being a Joy Rebel for me really has been, it's been incredible because you are surrounded by women that will also hold you. So when you are having a rough day, you know, it's not a pity party. You don't go in and everyone has a pity party, but everybody is there to hold you. And I think that makes a huge difference, especially also knowing that there are other women that are struggling with certain things because you can bounce and feed off each other. You know, I'll hold you today and you hold me tomorrow. The resources for me, for someone who
A
likes research and loves to learn, yes,
B
the resources that you have within the Joy Rebellion are absolutely incredible. Absolutely incredible. The, the values work, the, the manifest by magic. There's just so much value within that resource section. That is unbelievable. And being in the Joy Rebellion, it doesn't feel like it's the entry level to the next offer, which is something that you often find with inside memberships. It is more than a standalone and the value there is so incredible. I never, ever feel like, okay, well let's open mic Monday and let's see what Ellie's going to sell me. It's never, ever the case. It is always so much on, you know, self reflection. How can, how can you improve? But it's not just a pep talk. The tools are given to you as well to get yourself through that thing that you're working with. So for me, the Joy Rebellion, I say without a doubt is something that people should be joining. Without a doubt. As for human design, that is a no brainer. That is an absolute no brainer. I don't understand why Nobody. Why it should be given to you as like an 18 birthday gift or 21st gift, whatever, whatever the big important gift is, that should be the gift that parents are giving their kids, especially if they're about to go out into the world. Because that's like, you know, here's your tools.
A
Here's who you are. Go use them.
B
Yeah, you don't need a yes. You don't need the little gold key for the front door. What collects dust in the corner. You gig. These are your tools.
A
I think it's so interesting. You're. You're a manager, aren't you, for six. And everything about your store is that, you know, the four. You wanting to be around people, but recognizing actually your 6 is to lead people. But also everything that you've just shared in your journey is classic six. Because it's the three. I've got to go out and fail and find out and do this and learn from experience. So. So no wonder you're in this incredible position right now. That just says, right, I've been in the fire. I've been literally been in the fire. But I know how to get through it. I know how to get out of it. I know how to tame the fire. I think you're a fire tamer, almost. If we're thinking cycle nine, you're the fire tamer. And I can help you tame the fire for within your home and within. Within your identity. So do you know what, Jackie? It's been an absolute joy and a pleasure to have you not only in the podcast, but in the Joy Rebellion. It's been wonderful getting to know you. So thank you for coming to share your inspirational story.
B
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Host: Ali Mortimer, the JOY Coach
Episode: Joy Rebel Jacky: The return to self and the mindset ceiling
Date: July 9, 2026
Guest: Jacky (“Joy Rebel Jacky”)
This episode continues Ali’s “JOY Rebel” series—spotlighting members of her community whose personal stories exemplify the power of joy as a daily strategy, not just an elusive reward. Guest Jacky shares her deeply personal journey: leaving behind a thriving business in South Africa to start anew in Seychelles, facing unexpected hardships, and ultimately rebuilding her life—and herself—by choosing joy from within rather than through external achievements or circumstances. The conversation weaves together themes of identity, healing, feminine leadership, and the transformative energy of home, culminating in an exploration of how Jacky now supports others through Feng Shui and energetic home alignment.
Joy’s real power (Ali, 00:10):
“Joy is not fluffy... Joy is the only strategy you will ever need... It's your competitive edge, your antidote, and your super attractor.”
Facing the abyss (Jacky, 06:43):
“There was so much fear and so much disappointment and so much betrayal... I couldn’t believe I’d managed to get myself into this level of mess...there was no turning back.”
Heart of transformation (Jacky, 16:55):
“Joy is not a performance, but it becomes an embodiment.”
Cycle 9, feminine energy (Jacky, 27:49):
“Women are not tired of being successful. They’re just tired of performing in a system that no longer feels aligned to them... There’s an emotional intelligence behind the way that this energy has shifted.”
On support and community (Jacky, 36:20):
“Being a Joy Rebel for me... it’s been incredible because you are surrounded by women that will also hold you... I’ll hold you today, and you hold me tomorrow.”
Jacky’s story exemplifies the theme of “returning to self”—of creating an embodied joy that isn’t reliant on external markers like achievement, status, or the approval of others. Through her lived evidence, and the practical integration of energetic home and nervous system balance, she offers a roadmap for listeners eager to step into the new paradigm of feminine fulfillment, alignment, and expansion… beginning with joy, “just on you.”
