Just staring at the kitchen sink wondering how you'll get through the next 10 minutes, this podcast is for you. Get you a glimmer of hope, a dose of happiness, or an infusion of joy right here, right now. Welcome to the Joy Broadcast. Welcome back to the Joy Broadcast. Today we are going to be looking at our solar plexus chakra. This is, I feel, one of the most complex energy centers. Maybe that's my been my personal experiences where I probably had to do the most work, I say in inverted commas, but the one that has brought me so much joy and so much transformation and beauty in my life, really the solar plexus, when we look at our human design energy centers, is the, the center of the expression of our emotions, our feelings and our mood. And maybe that's because I'm a woman in my, well, approaching 50, but when I started doing this, this work, I was in my 40s. And it's a highly emotional time, isn't it? That era of our lives, you know, we're working hard in our careers or in our purpose. If we, if that's our chosen path, we have children, if that's our chosen path to, to cater for everybody in our lives and our relationships. It's not only just our emotions that we're dealing with, it's the emotions of everybody around us, in our homes, in our teams, in our relationships, in our partnerships, in it's everywhere. So it can get rather crowded in our solar plexus when it comes to emotions and to practice discernment as to what is our emotion and our unique expression of our feeling can get rather complicated. And so my purpose for today's podcast and in this chakra healing is to really just allow you to bring some attention to what is going on really with your feelings and your emotions and your mood. So in human design, where in the body is this? It's almost like placing your hand on your left hip that's where I sit. Placing your hand on your left hip. It's in between your. The bottom of your rib cage and the top of your rib. That's where the solar plexus is housed. The energy is there. Now, in human design, 70% of us have emotional authorities. We make decisions based on or through our emotional center. Especially if you're defined. You know, this is the knowledge when you have a defined solar plexus and an emotional authority is that you have the capacity and that you are absolutely capable of creating emotional calm within you. And when you have that awareness that can bring such a level of confidence to them. You know, whatever happens, whatever storms happen, I can ride them and I'll be able to find the peace in there. Now I have a completely open solar plexus. This makes me incredibly empathetic, possibly why I'm so good at my job, because my clients, my kids, my husband, they don't have to speak. I can feel, I know exactly how that they are feeling. But this makes me an absolute energetic sponge to everyone and everything around me. And the work that I've always had to do is to recognize what are my feelings, what are my emotions, what are and what's not mine. Either way, the conditioning of how we feel can be dictated by our upbringing, our society, the norms of where we live. You know, don't cry, be brave, man up. You've heard all the phrases before, don't show your emotions, hide your emotions under the carpet. Keep your emotions under your hat. But when you really start to recognise that these emotions play such an important part in our life, that these emotions are energies that we can store deep within our bodies. And the recognition that these energies, like all energies, no matter what energy it is, no matter what emotional name or label that we give it, need to find a way to flow. Because when we hold all of these emotions in our body, when we trap them, when we suppress them, no matter where they're coming from, and they could have come from years ago, from the stories or the situations or the experiences that we have had in our past, we can hold on to the emotions that are attached to that story deep within us. When we suppress or deny ourselves feeling in the moment and allow ourselves those feelings to flow once again, we are trapping them within our bodies.
B
Where still sometimes we can take on the emotions.
A
Of others and make them our own and we can hold them inside us. And all of this suppressing and denying and holding and holding on to can make us an emotional volcano. I definitely think that I used to Be an emotional volcano. And I would erupt with bringing every single feeling to the front. And it could be quite dangerous. I would hold myself back in fear of confrontation because I didn't want to feel the feelings that I would feel all their feelings either. So I held myself back. I have so much to say on this beautiful energy center. There is so much work we can do here. But let's start with the health of your body. How does this relate to the health of your body? Because obviously when we hold all of this energy and store it within our body and it gets heavier and heavier and heavier, there is so much evidence now that says holding this level of emotion can cause disease in our body, traumas in our body, tumors. It's so important to let these energies flow. I can't impress this enough. Now. The body parts related to the solar plexus are our vital organs. So once again, so, so important for the vitality of our health and our enjoyment of our life. Our vital organs, the lungs, I think that's one of my favorite pieces and synergies between human design and the body is that our emotions, our solar plexus, are related to the lungs. And I teach meditation, I teach mindfulness, I teach breathing. And that is what I love how one of the best, the fastest ways to move our emot with the breath, to breathe, to breathe in and to breathe it out and to let it go, let it go, let it go, let go of the stories, let go of the emotions. And I'm going to take you through a little bit more of that in a second. But it's also related to your kidneys, your pancreas, your lungs. I've already said sorry. The prostate and our nervous system, all of these vital organs that if we hold all of these in, we're causing discomfort and ill health. Or we can do is what I believe. So a healthy chakra and healthy solar plexus is emotionally stable. It means that you can make intelligent decisions. You're not being moved by your emotions, whether they're high or whether they're low, whether they're yours or somebody else's. You're making them from a deep sense of knowing you're confident. Then you know that when you're making your decisions, you're confident because you're making them a place of clarity rather than emotional cloudiness, I suppose is the word means that you're resilient. Not necessarily in the meaning of that you are hard. But as I always use, my definition of resilience is not the hardening of Your heart. It's the ability to face the hard. It's knowing that you can handle the highs, the lows and all of the emotions that life will bring you. It's knowing that you can find that calm, you can stay collected. And this gives you a real sense of empowerment because you can hold firm in your boundaries of knowing that this is not my emotion, this is not my situation, this is how I feel about it. It's about having that self respect of understanding your own emotions and not taking on the heaviness of everybody else's and being able to be completely empathetic to them without making it mean your own. Now, an unhealthy solar plexus can often mean that you're exhausted. Many of my clients come to me and say, I've had the most amazing night's sleep, but I'm still utterly exhausted. And it's usually because of the emotional turmoil they're going through, the emotions that they're storing within their body that they're not facing because they fear conflict within themselves, they fear conflicts outside of them. So they become these people pleasers that will do anything to keep the peace outside of them, but allow the war to rage deep within them. An unhealthy solar plexus means that you may see yourself having mood swings. You may see this in others backwards and forwards. It may show up as this feeling of being a victim of your circumstances rather than knowing that you have the power and the energy to create the story. That means that you are the heroine. No one is ever a victim of circumstance. You don't have to ever play a victim of anything. It's just something that happens and how you choose to respond to it. Being a victim often means you're blaming others. This is totally disempowering, unhealthy chakras. And the solar plexus often means that you're projecting your feelings onto others because you don't want to feed them yourself. I often use the hot potato story. Our incredible marriage counsellor helped us see this by talking and telling us the hot potato story. And she said, when we have a feeling that we don't want to feel, it can feel an awful lot like a hot potato that's just come out of the fire. We don't want to feel it and it's jumbling around in our hands. And so what we do is we, we throw the hot potato at somebody else to make them feel it because we don't want to feel it. So whatever we're feeling, angry, shame, guilt, we don't want to feel it. So we'll tell a story and we'll project it by throwing the hot potato, by throwing barbed comments, by making other people feel the way that we feel. And that's not nice.
B
That's really not nice.
A
You know, you've been on the other side of that. But when you can recognize that you're being thrown a hot potato, you can just catch the hot potato and pop it down. You don't have to take on that feeling. You can just put it down and show compassion and empathy and help bring calm to the situation. So the solar plexus really is a hugely transformative, alchemizing center. Our emotions, our energies, and it's our energy that can influence rooms. I've been talking a lot about this in the devoted Mastermind in the last couple of weeks. Our energy, our mood is going to influence the rooms that we are in, that we walk into. They can transform the situations. You've heard me talk about radiators and drains before. You're either radiator or a drain. You are either going to light up a room or you're going to drain it of all of its energy. We can also use our own feelings and our own emotions to create our own experience of rooms and situations. And I love that. This is totally empowering for me. When we live in an emotional fog and when we're in the cloud, we can't transform. We cannot see the change that we want to create. So clearing this is going to be completely transformational for you. That is my. My wish, my desire, and my purpose for this podcast today. So what is the element of the solar plexus? It's often related to fire. And I love this. I love this so much. Because fire can be. Again, like I've said, the solar plexus is complex. Fire can both be destructive. When we think of the fires raging through the forests in France or California, when it's so dry, they can be destructive. But there's also a light. We light a candle and we bring light to the situation so our emotions can tell us so much. They can help us see the truth.
B
This is what I believe.
A
I read in one of my books that the solar plexus is often called the city of jewels. It really is. And when I look at the feeling wheel that I often share with many of my clients, it is all of these kaleidoscope of colors of all of our feelings.
B
The city of Jewels.
A
Every single feeling has a message and a gift to give us. I love Esther Hicks and she talks about our emotional guidance system. Whether we're on the right path or the wrong path, whether we're feeling good or whether we're feeling bad. It's just our emotions telling us that we're on the right path of the wrong path for our life, for our purpose. In human design, every single energy type has a different emotional guidance system. It's a wonderful way to understand whether you're living in alignment with your truth or not. Fire is alchemizing, isn't it? And as I said, our emotions are alchemizing. Understanding this process is going to be alchemizing for your life. It's transformational. Fire is alchemizing all matters into a different form of itself. You know, the earth and water created into invisible heats and gas or ash. This also brings me to the thought that many people who I work with and come to work with me because they fear burnout or they have been in burnout. And burnout is not necessarily how much you are doing, but it comes from emotional burnout. You have burnt yourself out emotionally. Like I said, so many women come and say, I'm exhausted, but I've had sleep. And it's the emotional overwhelm that they're not clearing, the carrying of all of this weight, of all of the emotions from all of the stories that have gone before them. So this is really understanding as well and bringing some level of awareness of how your emotions are moving you. Our solar plexus and human design is connected to our motor centers, the heart, the root, the sacral, and how we move. And we want to make sure that we move it in a good way. I talk a lot about energetics, and it's not necessarily just what we do, but it's how we do it and the energy in which we are doing it. It's who we are being, the energies that we're bringing to the table. When we do the actions that we know we need to do, it's how we feel when we're doing. It's how we feel about what we're doing. It's how we feel about why we're doing what we're doing and bringing this level of love and devotion. And this energy is what is so transformative in our lives. The color is yellow, a gold, a yellowy gold, a bright light. The crystals that I love to work with are citrines. I've forgotten to pick mine up. I've. Or he'd been on a rampage already this morning. Here we go. I've got one right now. I'll hold it in my hand. Citrine. I love to work with citrine for the solar plexus. Many people talk about using topaz for confidence and some people talk about using sapphires if they have a lot of anger and I definitely did that when I was having a lot of anger in my life. I don't have that now, so I don't need my sapphires. Food. We want fire and spice, but we also want to have the seeds to calm them. So fennel and cumin and flaxseeds which is really, really good if you're in the perimenopause. Chamomile teas, lovely yellowy colour. I can't stand chamomile tea by the way, but if you do like chamomile tea, have a chamomile tea. So the purpose here is to find out where these emotions have stemmed from. If you're holding onto them, you can find out where they are from, where they've come from, from where they've stemmed from, from somebody else, from a story that you've been telling yourself. You can go on that or you can just choose to do this and recognise that you have deep seated feelings deep within you and you can just choose to release them. You can see them, your feelings, feel them, honor them, open up to them, don't be frightened of them. One of my favorite poems is Rumi the Guest House. All feelings are guests in our beautiful soul's home and we welcome them in. This is what gives us this beautiful soulful human experience is to welcome all of our feelings in and none of them are to be shut out. I've done another beautiful meditation on that one, so if you want it, please let me know. I might drop a link down below. Actually, in the show notes there's a whole meditation I've done on the Guest house. That's another one. If you really want to do some deeper work on here, let's do that. Bringing laughter and lightness is one of the. My favourite ways to help move these emotions. And if I'm feeling sad or if I am feeling angry or if I just feel like apathetic or not feeling anything, I'm like, right, I'm going to bring some light to the situation and I will go and watch a really funny movie. I watched the Long Shot the other day. I do love that movie. So bring on your favorite movies and bring some lightness and some laughter and help use that energy to clear out the ones that are there, that are making you feel heavy. Really the questions that you have to ask yourself through this process are these stories, these situations and these emotions serving me now and will they serve me in the future? Is holding on to these emotions, these stories, these situations.
B
For the highest good of all?
A
And when the answer is no, are you willing to let them go? Because if you are, then it's time.
B
For us to do the clearing. So if it's safe for you to do so. Take a pause, take a breath and you can close your eyes. Just take some deep breaths to relax here. In through your neck, nose and out through your mouth. Let your shoulders relax, Let your belly soften. Take a deep breath in and out through your mouth, exhaling, letting your belly soften. Let your eyes just roll in the top of your head or settle between that space between your brows. Let your neck soften. Let everything just really, really relax. And let's bring some attention to the area of your solar plexus on your left hip. You may be feeling that you have a very heavy weight in this area.
A
Almost like a huge sack that you're.
B
Carrying on your left hip. And it's hard and it's heavy and it's dark, it's full of darkness, so got a cloudy era around it, a bit of a musty smell. It's full of all of your heavy emotional baggage. Perhaps there's guilt, anger, shame, disappointment. You feel the heaviness of it there. Naming those feelings brings just awareness to them. What we're trying to do here is to take away their heaviness, take away their power. They have no power over you. You just witness them and sit with them. When you sit with them, they're not so scary and they're not so loud and they start to lose a little bit of their weight. I'd like you to imagine lighting a candle. Spark the light of your favourite candle and bring the candle close to you. Bring it to your solar plexus and ask yourself, what do you see? What do I see? What are the stories behind these feelings and these emotions that have shown themselves to you from your heavy sack? Take the story of shame and of guilt and bring it into the light. What is the truth here? Can you hold it to the candle and watch it burn, for it has no purpose here? Reach back into your sack of your solar plexus and pull out the story of pain and grief and let the tears roll as you reread the stories that have brought you this pain and grief. Allow yourself to honour these feelings of sadness. Take these stories and bring them to your heart and Say thank you. And now add them to the flame and release them with peace. Reach back into your sack once again and pull out the story of anger. It could be a heavy one. It may be a bible of stories that have caused you anger and anguish and frustration and rage. But lift it up and lift it out and bring it into the light, and you may not be able to hold it to the flame. So set it down on the floor and look at it and bring the warmth of the candle, the warmth of the fire, and let it soften it. Let the warmth soften the anger on the pages of these stories and let them melt away. Let them melt away. Let them fade away. Not to condone, but to forgive. And bring that forgiveness into your heart and let them go with love. It's time to put down all of your emotional baggage. It's time to set yourself free of all the stories that you've been telling yourself and holding on to for all of these years and just breathe. Take a few deep inhales and exhales as you sit here. Start to feel the lightness come back within you. You might feel that you're standing straighter, standing taller, without the weight of all of this emotional baggage on your hip. Maybe even place your hand on your hip now and gently massage it. Massage the space where your solar plexus lives. Start to move little small circles and clear the ash and the embers, the dust, and wipe them all away to reveal a beautiful, soft, glowing light of your solar plexus. Plexus, a pale yellow light, just like the light of the candle. Start to feel the inner glow of your solar plexus and let it start to radiate through you, the warm light of your emotions. And as you start to feel and sense this glow glowing through your body and radiating throughout your entire being through all of the other chakras and energy centers within your body. Start to invite in the other feelings, Bring in the emotions and the energies that you want to experience life with. These are the guests that you want to have with you, walking side by side with you, holding hands with you, surrounding you. Love, peace, vitality, excitement, enlightenment. And here comes joy. Welcome them in like the guests that they are to your life. Let them power your solar plexus. Let them come in and touch you by the side and let them spark.
