Come to the show. It's always fun. We have two sponsors for this episode. The sponsors are in the description of this episode. I'm going to start with this article because I just love every story about this. I I'm aware of this story, but maybe you're not. Summer was not aware that Lana Del Rey is dating or no, she's married to an alligator tour guy guide. That's someone I should have on Chitchat Wednesday. An alligator tour guide Lana Del Rey wears her new last name on her jeans and tribute to husband Jeremy Du Frain, my little bayou wife. And she's a Du Frain now. Lana. Lana Del Rey Dufresne. Very new New Orleans alligator tour guide name. Wasn't that the name, I think? Dufresne. Andy Dufresne from the Shawshank Redemption. He was the guy that was jailed. Lana Del Rey is wearing her heart on her sleeve or her bum. The Summertime Sadness singer, 39. We're the same age. Showed off a tribute to her husband and alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufresne, 49, with a pair of jeans embroidered with her new last name on the back. In a captionless Instagram carousel, Del Rey showed a close up of the red stitching which was placed above a back pocket and she made sure to tag her hubby in the post. Here's the thing. In this brave new world of the Internet of being able to shoot your shot in the dms, don't you think there should be. There would be more of this of like random. This is a movie. This is literally the premise of a movie of a rom com. This is Notting Hill. Big time musician comes to the small town meets the alligator tour guide fall in love. Du Frame, who she married in 2024 September 2024 admired the Grammy nominated musician in a now deleted comment which read is that my little bayou wife? So he commented on her Instagram this is wild. It's also kind of a creepy comment. Admired the Grammy nominated musician and now deleted comment which read is that my little bayou? That is very creepy. Can you imagine you're on Instagram. I mean the accent doesn't help it. I don't even know if I could do the accent. Is my. Is that my little bayou wife? I don't know. And now she's wearing it proudly on her jeans. One follower saw the comment before it was gone, writing, this is the sweet love that you deserve, Lana. This is the thing. Everything's creepy until it works out. If it does, if she's not into it, then it's creepy. If she's into it. Oh my God. They found each other in the Instagram comments and now they're off on their alligator fanboat and driving into the sunset. Another said, I love her random post so much. Appearing to have ditched makeup. Del Rey, who was born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, kept the rest of her outfit understated, opting for a white long sleeve tee and vintage Chanel purse. I have always thought Lana Del Rey was hot. Always been a Lana Del Rey fan. Look at and they show her on the riverboat. The fanboat. The couple first sparked dating rumors in late August after a tiktoker captured the two holding hands in London. This guy is. He is Hugh Grant in London. He's in the bayou and then all of a sudden he's flying to London with Lana Del Rey. The pop star denied it at this time. However, a few days later, the pair popped up at model Karen Elson's star studded wedding at NYC and obtained a marriage license just a few weeks later. The next month, the pair exchange vows while surrounded by family and friends at a waterfront small ceremony in De Almendas, Louisiana where Dufresne operates his alligator tours. Well, listen, he has an alligator tour Company. He's a business person. He's got. I mean, this guy could be a billionaire. I wouldn't know. But just you're an alligator tour guide. You go, you met fucking Lana Del Rey. What's going on, dude? For the special day, Del Rey wowed in a dainty gown which she thrifted in at vintage market by trashy diva in New Orleans Months. Okay, I. Besides the dress, I mean this is how. This is not been optioned for a movie. Is out of control. She should be making this a movie. He should stay away. If I'm him, I just be alligator tour guide Lana Del Rey's husband for the rest of my life. I am happy. I would be. That is the life I want. I want to be weirdo husband with powerful kick ass woman. What's who she married to? Yeah, he like, he does a podcast in his house where he reads Page Six. I don't know, he's out of his mind. That's what I want people to say about me. I want people to go, who, who lives in that house? Oh, the CEO woman. She. She kills it. And she's married to this like weirdo who yells at the clouds all day about what angers him. Like that would be. That's my dream life. I envy this alligator tour guide. Two sponsors Via. If you want sparks to fly in and out of the bedroom, you need Via. Via's High Love Gummy. Why Kylie Kelsey Didn't Eat Taylor Swift's Home Cooked Meal during Double date with Travis and Jason Kelsey this is a fantastic Page Six headline. Two reasons it's a little bit drama. Kylie Kelsey didn't eat Taylor Swift's home cooked meal. What? That's like a very much a trope from like the boss is coming over and I can't get the roast wrong or the boss will be mad. Like it's very much out of I Love Lucy won't eat the home cooked meal of Taylor Swift. She's been, she's been working away at her roast that she's making like. So for that reason it's drama. The second reason I like this is like what the fuck is Taylor Swift home cooking? Like I would need to know. If this article doesn't give me both of those answers. It is a failure of an article. Look what pregnancy made her do. Page Six. You rock. That's a, that's a Taylor Swift Swift line turned into an opening line of a page. I just think these people are geniuses. Kylie Kelsey admitted to not eating Taylor Swift's home cooked meal during a double date because she was eight weeks pregnant with her fourth daughter. They've got four kids. Kylie Kelce looks like 22, four kids and I don't know. Oh she's 32. I don't know what pregnancy does to you. I've never been pregnant. I've never like been married. I've never been with a woman who's pregnant. I will say not being able to eat makes some sense. I'm not going to like tell. So again the drama's gone. So she didn't eat the home cooked meal so now we have one thing answered. She didn't have the home cooked meal because she probably felt on the verge of puking for like a month at a time, which I don't envy at all. I don't know what. I don't know that I really ate them. Ate the meal. The 32 year old explained to call her daddy listeners on Wednesday. I didn't really eat the meal because I was eight weeks pregnant. Is that like the morning sickness time? I guess. She acknowledged that while the confession would sound terrible to fans, this is how horrific fans are. Oh, I couldn't eat her meal. I was eight weeks pregnant. What? How dare you do that to our Taylor? Like, who would even listen to such a crazy person? Who would get mad at someone who's eight weeks pregnant and not eat the food? Nothing sounded good at the time. The admission came up when host Alex Cooper asked whether Kylie and her husband Jason had been on a double date with Travis Kelce and the pop star. Technically, yes. I would say she divulged it was at home. Okay. Swift, 35, has made headlines for her cooking skills. Has she? With Travis gushing about her homemade popped homemade pop tarts and cinnamon rolls in 2024, the tenant told reporters that he thoroughly enjoys their time in the kitchen together. Well, hold on. Is she making home? Is she making the pop tart or is she putting a pop tart in the toaster oven? Those are very different things. I am rolling dough and then putting my own special jam in between two, you know, two cookies to make a pop Tart. That is the, like I again, I'm sorry to be the cynic, I'm sorry to say. I'm just saying. Is she making a homemade pop. I've had a homemade pop tart. I'm trying to remember where it was. I think this is crazy that I'm remembering this. I think it was in Toledo, Ohio. I was in Toledo, Ohio and it's a coffee shop called Flying Something. It's in the mall that I did the shows in. It's near the Toledo Funny Bone, which is, which is like it's in this mall area. And they had a homemade pop tart that was absolutely unbelievable. And it had the look of a pop tart. But I'm like, if Taylor did that, I'm like, okay, we have to talk. The tight end told reporters that he thoroughly enjoys their time together in the kitchen. Kylie spoke about Swift elsewhere in the episode when teasing how she found out about the Grammy winner's romance with her brother in law. Well, I know I What is Taylor cooking? We knew before everyone else knew. But it was not like it did not hit the group chat. The not gonna Lie host recalled. Jace and I found out together. We knew before they had hard launch with her going to the game, saying they met at a matchup in January of the following year. She also hit back at speculation that she has been avoiding Swift, admitting that while people are deeply disturbed by this, the songwriter is a busy person. Okay, deeply disturbed. I want to meet the person who is deeply disturbed that Jason Kelsey's wife or hasn't hung out with Taylor Swift enough. That's someone who should be like, like that. If someone said out loud, I am deeply disturbed that those two people are not hanging out as much as I'd like to. They should be like, oh, okay, oh, you're deeply disturbed. Let me direct you to therapist. I'd bring them directly to a therapist. I would go, you just used the word deeply and disturbed to reference two people you have never met. Don't know to how you feel about them not hanging out enough. Here's your new therapist. Kylie filmed the episode before sitting in the same VIP suite as the Bad Blood singer on Sunday to watch the Kansas City Chiefs lose in the Super Bowl. Oh well, I guess that deeply deserved person feels a lot better now. Thank goodness we still no. No reference to what Taylor Swift was cooking. I am going to say she cooks nothing. You ha. You. I'm sorry. Alex Cooper. If you ask they met on a double date where you didn't eat the home cooked meal. I need to know if it. If it was asked and it's not in this article, let me apologize. But if you're not asking what she made. Is there a conversation even happening at all? Kendrick Lamar's super bowl jeans were originally for Timothee Chalamet. Are a size 29 woman's. Another great job by page six. Okay. Kendrick Lamar does the super bowl halftime show. The jeans have become a story because they are from another era. I remember the era. It was when I was in middle school. The the boot cut flare jeans and they were originally for Timothee Chalamet. Who I could see him wearing them. Size 29 women's. The fact that they're women's jeans. Good. Love it. Good for them. I will say this as a man, those jeans never did it for me. Those the jeans with the flare. It always. They always touch. Listen, I think they work based on what climate you live in. If you're from the northeast and you have a memory of women wearing those jeans and they would get in the snow and the wet, and then the bottom would be all like, gross. You're not turned on by those jeans. You're with me. You and I are one of the only. When I saw those jeans on Kendrick, I said, those are making me think. You know, when one thing makes you, like, your brain go to another? My brain went directly to those jeans being wet at the bottom on a snow day and me thinking, ugh, they have to smell. Summer Rose, did you wear those jeans? You did? Did they get wet at the bottom? No. Disgusting. Disgusting. It always grossed me out. Middle school. It was middle school. I remember it like it was yesterday. And when I saw Kendrick Lamar wearing them, I go, ugh. Kendrick Lamar turns out to be a lot like Timothee Chalamet. At least in the pants. Well, they're both little guys. Like, they both, like, they. They strike a similar figure. The duo shared the same share the same stylist, Taylor McNeil. And we hear that the thirteen hundred dollar Celine jeans Lamar wore for this halftime performance at the super bowl were initially set aside for a. For the complete unknown movie star. A source told Page Six that the stylist had pulled a bunch of denim for Lamar's Grammy and Super bowl appearances. But the size 29 Celine women's pants hugged the rapper's hips perfectly despite his size 33. Well, again, these numbers mean nothing to me. It is just, I mean, size 33 waist, 29 Jean. But then they're made for a woman's butt. Like, it's all like, the numbers don't matter. Reps for all parties did not comment on the switcheroo. But luckily for luxe brand Celine, the jeans had quite a moment at the Super Bowl. They did. I mean, everyone's going to be buying them. I mean, all you want if you liked that look. Which listen, Summer has a better memory of them than I do, so I'm not running the store. But maybe if you're like, oh, my God, finally society has allowed for them to come back. This was kind of your allowance. Fans hotly debate if the pants were boot cut or bell bottom. And the Celine site says they are flared surf jean in Summer dazed wash. Okay, I'll buy it. I'm not gonna buy the jeans, but I'm gonna. I'll buy that. They're. They show them on Kendrick Lamar. They do look good on them. But all I could think about is those jeans walking down a street that's got some snow on it. They show Timothee Chalamet, too. Lamar paired the jeans with a custom blue leather Martin Rose varsity jacket that featured archival sports paneling and custom embroidery, according to an Instagram story McNeil shared after the performance. He also wore a 68,000 thousand dollar Rahaminov diamond Bruce broach brooch. Do you spell brooch with two O's? Is that how it's brooch pinned to his cap? Lamar was the first solo rap act to ever perform music's business stage. My intent was always to keep the nature of it as a sport, lamar said during an exclusive interview on Thursday with show sponsor Apple Music. The Big Game even set a record for total viewers, with Lamar's performance helping bring in more fans. SZA joined him on their songs all the Stars and Luther. But the biggest surprise of the night was when tennis great Serena Williams helped Lamar close out the show by Crip walking to the rapper Smash Drake diss track Not Like Us, which just earned him five Grammy Awards last week. Lamar also boldly performed more obscure songs such as man at the Garden and Peekaboo from his new GNX album, with Samuel Jackson narrating the performance as Uncle Sam. Listen, lamar told the Apple music, how I process it all is just I continue to do what I was doing 10 years ago and that's like get better in myself, better in the craft and not look at the bright lights. I got to look at myself in the mirror rather than looking at the crowd or, you know, fame and attention. All while wearing a woman Celine Jean meant for Chalamet. A great way to tell the story about the super bowl and the story of Kendrick Lamar. I listen, I said it on this podcast. I are on the Tuesday episode. I'll say it again. It was a great Kendrick Lamar concert, not a great halftime show. I think both can be true and I'm not like looking to double down on the opinion. But you see now where again what I what I said at the time, what annoyed me on TikTok to ticked off Tuesday still annoys me now that like someone can go yeah, I don't know. I I didn't really get it. Now they're like this big evil person and I just don't again also like I think with people's opinions it is annoying for someone to go I hated it. It was the worst ever. That's extremist language as well. Both. Again the middle no one likes it. Christie Brinkley gives glimpse inside her $30 million storybook Hampton's Castle. Okay, Christie Brinkley, let's start with. I mean she's a supermodel so like, of course she looks amazing, but like she is like still Christie Brinkley, like, that is like still like passes you on the street. Ten people, no matter what they're like affiliation or background or they all turn. Christie Brinkley's tour of her picturesque $30 million Hampton's New York mansion has resurfaced online. Caleb Simpson, known for asking, oh, this is the guy that asked people how much they pay in rent and then they tore that, so he tore his apart with them, reposted a clip via TikTok giving an out an inside look at the supermodel's home. The influencer 33, commented in the clip that Brinkley's castle was giving fairy tale vibes, to which she responded, like a little storybook. Brinkley bought the 11 bedroom Tower Hill Estate in Bridgehampton in 1998 and has lived there ever since. You buy a mansion in 1998, it is worth some kind of dough right now. And they show is unbelievable. It does have the castle, like where Rapunzel would let her hair down from and has that. I mean, I've lived here for 24 years, the longest I've ever lived any place in my life. The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model said in the tour video, which was first. Here's the thing. How much do you pay in rent? Let me see your place. This is the. I mean, this is MTV Cribs is. This is the premise of that show. It always kind of annoys me when it's someone that, like, you know, you go, what do you do? And they're like, I do nothing. And then they're like, here's my 10,000 a dollar a month apartment. Like that. That to me, Christie Brinkley, this is one I would want to watch. It's probably why it did pretty well. I mean, she's got chickens and rooster. I mean, the house is unbelievable. This is like. And if you've gone to the Hamptons, you know, like, you go to these places and it's just like a breath of fresh air. It's like you just, you go, how do people, people live this way every day? However, Brinkley told Simpson that although the idea of giving up her estate has crossed her mind occasionally and she's thought, oh, maybe I'll sell it, just like live on a sailboat or something. If she sold it, I mean, this house is the. She's probably made. This house would make so much money. The kids are like, no, mom, we grew up here. This is our home. You can't. She explained. As a result, the kids are always here. I love it for that. Why wouldn't you be there? Oh, we get to go to the beach and just be there for free. The land includes a chicken roost greenhouse with a fireplace in it. The timeless beauty author also planted magnificent citrus trees to remind her of home in California. Brinkley's ex husband Peter Cook, whom she was married to from 1996 to 2008 and share a daughter they designed the estate. As he's an architect. I mean it does look like an architect. Put this thing together. Okay, let's go to another article before we do. One more sponsor to go as we do Lumi. Did you miss getting a valentine again this year? Maybe it's because you stink. I can tell you right now I am a you Lumi user I'm a Lumi lover. I am a Lumi guy. So get involved. We have some more Taylor Swift news. Eagles player Saquon Barkley, fellow Penn State alumnus, defends Taylor Swift as she was booed at Super Bowl 2025. She's made the game bigger. I think this Taylor Swift being booed story is actually crazy because no one or no one that I've seen, I watch a lot of sports shows, I listen to a lot of sports podcasts. I've seen this come up. No one has acknowledged that, like, booing is what Philly does. Like, for sport. Like that is like, they have fun. They booed Santa Claus. Like, there is a tongue in cheek thing with Philly fans booing. It's kind of a respect thing. I know you might be going, what respect? They booed. And I know it gets caught up into this politicized thing. You know, the president already tweeted about it. They booed her out. And MAGA people don't forget. But it totally ignores a very real story that Philly people like to boo things as a joke and for, like, in a performative way. So the fact that this is a story without even acknowledging it's not like it was the Patriots versus the, the, you know, the LA Rams. Like, it is Philly. Where on the Wikipedia page of Philly sports, it is. We boo people, and most of all, we boo our own teams. We even talked about this on Chitchat Wednesday with Ramblin Gamblin, Dan. We talked about the Philly conundrum because they're annoying as sports fans because they love their team and then they immediately hate their team. So they're never wrong. So I know I didn't even get to this story, but, like, the fact that this is like, a story where Saquon Barkley, who just won the super bowl, is like, answer. And he did this on the Howard Stern show, which I was a guest on the Howard Stern after show, which was, like, quite a thrill for me. John Heim and Gary Dellibatte, I've been listening to them for, like, years. So, like, it was very cool. Hopefully we can put out some clips from it, but I had a really good time. But we. I went on the after show and talked with them about, you know, you talk about what happened on Howard that day, and this was one of the stories, you know, and so Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley slammed NFL fans for booing Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl. But Saquon might not know because he's a new Eagle but like, he knows they boo things, but they've had a good season, so they haven't been booed. So I can understand him not really knowing the booing thing. You know, I remember that they showed her on the Jumbotron and she got booed. I don't get it. I don't get why she was getting hate there. The 28. 28 year old said on Sirius XM's Howard Stern Show Wednesday. No, I wish I could speak with Saquon. I'd say Saquon. Come on, we're both Happy Valley, you know, alumnus. Let me how do you not know this? Barkley noted how the pop star was just in the stands to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs before pointing out that her attendance has only helped the NFL. It becomes this thing. Of course it's only helped the NFL. You found more fans, you found more people. People get to watch the game in and different way. There's some gossip and drama that goes along with it. It's a love relationship. It's. This is to me again, like, if you want to, like, look at my worldview of these stories, this is fraudulent. Bad actors use Taylor Swift to make their point for other things and to make their money. I won't even go into the story. I click this link because it is Fashion Week in New York City. Now, if you've never lived in New York City, Fashion Week might just be a passing headline to you. As someone who's lived here for almost 18 years, I guess I'm 17. 2010 is when I moved here. No, 2007. Summer 2007 is when I moved here. Fall 2007, let's call it fall 2007. So what's the math on that? I'm a big dumb idiot. 2007, so you have 2017, so that's 10 years. And then 2015 is 17 years. So I've been here 17 years. Okay? Fashion Week is a thing. And if you've ever been a man dating women in in New York City, they'll talk if they work anywhere around it. They've never. No one's ever been more busy than someone doing Fashion Week. No, a woman working in fashion has never been more busy than any. The coal miners do not understand what work is unless they've talked to a woman who works in fashion in New York City during Fashion Week. The article so I got duped because it says A Day in the Life of Page Six Styles. Elena Fishman during New York Fashion Week, celeb sightings A snowstorm and more. So they show her. She's the Page Six style and shopping director. And this is sponsored by Hulu, which I didn't even know would happen. Again, this is what they all. Despite what the movies and TV might lead you to believe, the New York Fashion Week isn't all glitz and glamour. No, it's the hardest job anyone has ever had in their entire life. Just ask someone working in it. As much as I love. Oh, this is written by her. Okay, I'm sorry, Elena, whoever you are. As much as I love being the first to see new collections, catching up with my industry pals, and hitting my daily step count before lunchtime, New York Fashion Week also means hoofing it around town through rain, snow, some degree of sleep deprivation, and perhaps toughest of all, finding time to file and edit stories, cover all the non Fashion Week news happening simultaneously. Why, oh, why must the super bowl and awards season overlap and the February shows? Elena just spelled out what I just told you. This is how every woman who is attached to Fashion Week in any way talks about Fashion Week. And as someone who's never been involved, never even been to a show, and has been a guy in New York who has talked to these people who work in this industry is the same song every year. No one has walked that much. No one has had that little sleep. And it is. I'm laughing and, like, smiling as I say this summer. Do you. Do you agree, as someone who's lived in New York City, do Fashion Week people talk like, they go to, like, yeah, I have a lot of friends who work in fashion, and they go crazy. They go crazy. And it's like, no, I know. And here's the thing. I talked about this when I went to Cannes, because I went to Cannes for Cannes Lions, which is like an ad festival. And I said. I said, I feel bad for the marketing people who go to Cannes. They can't complain to their wives or husband about how tired they are from going to Cannes. So. But I think the fashion people, they don't seem to understand that none of us really buy the story as. And this is to say, I know I'm wrong. I'm sure it's a tiring week for them, but it's hard when it's like, oh, the parties and you have to go out every night at my step count, and you don't even understand. You don't know what it's like. And it's like, yeah, we all know what it's like. We all have an idea. I Don't envy, though, that it's one week, two weeks a year, right? Because there's a fall, there's a winter, and there's a summer. So this kind of does sneak up. I do. I can understand that it is tiring for them, but it is a story. Look at Summer and I living in the same reality. You understand? We both have heard. And don't your eyes roll? Don't you hear them say that? And you're like. You're like, I have. I have to go into some loser's apartment and clean his hats. They get invited to the craziest parties and then complain about the parties, but then they complain that they don't get invited to parties, but then they don't want to go to the parties. I don't know if you could hear this, but Summer said it perfectly. They come, they go to all the biggest parties and complain that they have to go to the biggest part. This is. I'm repeating what Summer said. And then they get. Complain that they don't get invited to the biggest parties and then tell you how tired they are from the parties that they went to and didn't. Right. I mean, this is. And I do think this is a New York thing, because I have tweeted about this for maybe 14 years. I have. Every year I do. I do a little joke about someone who goes to Fashion Week and complains about it, and I don't think anyone gets it. It's not a national story. This is a very Page Six story. I will move on. There's three more stories that I want to do. Cardi B calls out Trump for ruining her $3,000 shoes at Super Bowl 2025. Demands return of deported uncle as payback. That is the funniest headline I have ever heard. It is also, like, very Cardi B. Like, like, she is hilarious. Like, I. I mean, Cardi B put President Trump on blast after his 2025 Super bowl attendance cost her a $3,000 pair of Louis Batons. The rapper put her spike shoes on display during an Instagram live on Sunday night after the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Look how fucked up my shoes are, she said in a clip that a fan posted on X. This shoe cost me 3,003 bands, all because of Trump. Now I like him lesser. Well, how does Trump work into this? The shoes are unbelievable. They show her inch. I'm looking at her on a couch, and if these are the shoes, they are statements. They are very cool. They got spikes coming out of them. I just don't Understand how it's Cardi, 32, doubled down saying you didn't have to go to no damn super bowl fucking up my shoes. So I'm looking at the shoes are awesome. They're very cool. How did Trump Is it because he showed up it made her walk farther? The Grammy winner explained that the cart service at New Orleans Caesar's Superdome stopped at a certain point because Trump was there. Right. Because they have security and there's like a whole thing. So she had to walk. She claimed that Secret Service was not playing and gave everyone a hard time at the game. She is right. It is kind of Trump's fault. He didn't have to go. Cardi, who was still too fucking mad about her footwear during the live screen. Here's my thing to Cardi, I would go. You went to a football game at a stadium and you thought you weren't gonna have to walk at all. Demanded Trump, 78, return her deported uncle to a US as payback. Well, he definitely ain't gonna do that, she acknowledged. Trump, who began mass deportation, now goes into like a really serious article. I'm sure I wish the best for her uncles, but let's see. He was the first president to attend a Super bowl. Like which listen, I do understand why he goes. I was surprised to find out that no president has ever gone. I don't think there's a more American event than the Super Bowl. I can understand that a president would go. You're going to take away resources from, you know, the event where there's a lot of protection. Now you've added another headache. So I could understand. Maybe that's a reason no president would have gone. I do understand why Trump would go. I I guess I could understand all sides on that. The commander in chief posted for post for photos with members of members of quarterback Patrick Mahomes family and poked fun at tight end Travis Kelsey's girlfriend Taylor Swift for getting booed by the crowd. Again, a fraudulent story. All right, we'll do one more. Hitch director reveals he feuded with Will Smith over crazy shit. Filming was a battle. Now Hitch is a very fun movie where Will Smith plays the dating coach to Kevin James. And Will Smith then has to coach himself into dating him, you know, to being a better dater. Hitch director Andy Tennant says working with Will Smith was quite the wild ride. Tennant revealed in a recent interview with Business Insider that he and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air act actor didn't get along while collaborating on the hit 2000 it's crazy they didn't get along because it came out pretty good. Which also started carrying Kevin James and Ava Mendez. The director, 69, said he and Smith, 56, had disagreements about the creative direction of the film. From the very beginning. I didn't want cheap jokes, but he didn't trust me, tenant said in the interview published Tuesday, noting that they went back and forth about the script throughout the filming process. Okay, man. According to the Fool's Gold, filmmaker Smith tried to back out of the project just three days before the third shooting. He wanted to shut down and work on it some more. He told the outlet. It was madness. Although they had their difficulties, Tenant admitted that their differing opinions ultimately made the movie stronger in the end. Yeah, I. I think it kind of worked for them. The movie I wanted to make and the movie Will want to make neither one of those movies as good as the movie we made together. Oh, and he said it was a battle. I think that's the creative process. I. You know, Will Smith, the more we learn about him, the more, you know, with the slapping and stuff, you. The more you kind of, like, back away from him and you kind of believe anything someone says about him. This is more fair than the title would actually make you believe. Like, it seems like they. I mean, to say we made a better movie together than we would have made a, you know, apart is not the same as the headline. Tenet. Credit the Aladdin star's wife, Jada Pickett Smith, for being a big help behind the scenes. She kind of seconded my. Some of my instincts. There was a time during prep when I was pushing back a lot of crazy shit that that was happening. The Sweet Home Alabama director, he made Sweet Home Alabama. This guy's got a big list of movies, said Will came to him a lot of crazy story ideas, including a full draft that he was not a fan of. I will tell us what the draft was. I was final. I finally told the studio that I was more afraid of Will making that version of the movie than I was about them firing me, he revealed. Because I knew they were right on the edge of firing me before we even began shooting. And to Will's credit, he didn't. We didn't go with that draft. I don't think I was ever in anyone's favor. So we had a tough time. However, we were still constantly changing the script. I guess when you have a big star like, you know, Kevin James was a big star himself at the time. Will Smith, the biggest star. Eva Mendez, huge star. You know, this is like one of those Movies where it's like, we have to, you know, the director can get just tossed aside. This movie's getting made. It's too big to fail. We have these big celebrities. We put out a lot of money. If you're going to get in the way of one of the celebrities liking the script, then you're done. I can understand that from his angle. The crew unknowingly stumbled upon a beautiful brownstone and knocked on the door to see if they could get permission to shoot there. Turned out to be Sarah Jessica Parker's house. He said. He said, so she was like, hi. And we were like, hi, can we shoot on your doorstep? And she was like, ah, yeah. Following weeks of similar impromptu shoots, Tenant left. Left filming feeling defeated. I swear to God, when I was. When I wrapped the movie, I called my wife and I said, I've just ruined my career. I've ruined Will Smith's career. He reflected, well, I think leave it to him years later, to slap someone on stage. He said the Bad Boys actor felt the same way and walked up the set without saying goodbye. He thought this movie was a disaster. The screenwriter recalled. We wrapped, and it was depressing. However, the editors later called him and told him it was not. It was not only salvageable, but actually hilarious. Look at that. A win. A rare win. I think I started crying. Tenet said he later reunited with Will at a test screening in Vegas, where they met with rave review. I mean, that fixes everything. The movie ends and the audience has completely embraced the movie, he said. People were cheering when the movie ended. Following a great worldwide press junket, the movie was released around Valentine's Day with the biggest opening weekend ever for a rom com at the time, earning over 371 million. So this is like a. It's crazy that this is, like, titled this way. This is a happy story. I don't have anything against Will, Tenant said. He hired me to make this movie. Oh, he hired him. It was not an easy job for anybody, but we went around the world with the. With the movie. And when it was over, my time with Will was over. That was it. And I've never heard from him since. You would think that he. They would both have this, like, oh, you know what? We had our differences, but look what it created. I would want to hear Will's side of it. Okay, Pop culture Thursday. Back next week, boom.
