The show was bookended today by anticipation and retrospection. Dave is anticipating the start of the LSU football season in a new era with Head Coach Lane Kiffin. Crowder is anticipating the Independence Day weekend with a patriotic fit check. And speaking of the weekend, Jon Erwin's got a new film coming out looking at the life of "Young Washington" that we can't wait to see. Especially to see for King & Country's Joel Smallbone in a supporting role. When you pray, are you anticipating God aiding your comfort or taking the opportunity for His Glory? That's a question that Megan Fate asked in an Instagram clip. Bill was a little antsy in the car this morning and had to say a prayer to help him get rid of a roach inside the vehicle. Many of you anticipate our Midweek Praise Break. This week's songs included Blessed Assurance by CAIN, How Great Thou Art by Matt Redman, and Nothing But The Blood by Jeremy Rosado and Tommee Profitt. All 3 songs had us looking back at growing up with these songs being sung in church. As the search continues for survivors of the earthquakes in Venezuela, we are anticipating the worst but praying for the best. Carmen had a little retrospection when a Timehop memory came up of getting the building that we now call home. As Dave was talking with a listener that grew up going to the same church he did, it got us thinking about those old Baptist Hymnals and now we want some of our own. 00:32 LSU Anticipation for Dave 06:10 Crowder's Patriotic Outfits 08:16 Jon Erwin - Young Washington 12:16 Joel Smallbone in Young Washington 15:08 Megan Fate on Prayer 17:49 Bill's prayer against roach 21:08 Midweek Praise Break - Blessed Assurance/ How Great Thou Art/ Nothing But The Blood 22:55 Midweek Praise Break recap 24:20 Venezuela 27:33 Timehop - finding the building 32:29 Old Baptist Hymnals 37:05 looking for hymnals online 39:34 Bill's BIG Word

We had to make sure that Carmen was okay because she didn't play Mahjongg this past weekend. Before you head for the ocean, check to make sure there are no rip currents. If there are, Bill has some tips for you. As today is the last day of June, Carmen wanted to do a mid-year audit and check on how we are doing spiritually, physically and mentally. But why are so many of us not so happy when we do a check in like that? Bill has been praying a prayer this year that might help you shift that perspective. Dave shared some thoughts from Max Lucado on what the church is getting wrong about anxiety. When Carmen reads for fun, she often screenshots a word she doesn't recognize so she can check with the guys as to what they mean. And as Bill was discussing French authors, he heard from a few of you checking his work. And we checked in on the progress of Kelsey Pfendler as she attempts to cross the Pacific as a solo rower. Folks in Paraguay don't need to check in at work today as the President of the country declared today a national holiday after their historic win in the World Cup against Germany. And if you need a little help determining what the World Cup means in more relatable college football terms, there's a list of doppelgangers you may want to check. 00:32 No Mahjongg Weekend 03:31 Rip Currents 07:08 Mid-Year Audit (Part 1) 13:30 Mid-Year Audit (Part 2) 18:16 Why are so many of us not so happy? 23:54 Look Upward, Lean Forward, Live Outward 25:10 Max Lucado on Anxiety 33:20 Texts 34:45 Carmen's BIGGER Word 40:14 Texts 43:11 Victor Hugo correction 43:31 Solo Rowing The Pacific 47:16 Kelsey Pfendler thriving in stress 49:37 Paraguay President makes today a national holiday 52:34 World Cup Doppelgangers 55:30 Bill's BIG Word

Carmen's a little fearful that she'll lose her credits on Audible but can't figure out what book to get next. For Dave, as an audiobook narrator, he's not all that worried about people listening to his books but he does have a new concern. Some of the worst fears are being realized in the aftermath of the Venezuela earthquakes. And we're on alert as a heat dome will be enveloping much of the country. When Dave's granddaughter gets on FaceTime with him, they often end up seeing all the things wonderfully made that she is exploring. Carmen is already wanting to look back at all the wonderful moments from the last season of college football. What it took to make the United States of America a reality in its early days is worth some discussion as faith was central to the foundation. A meme has been made of the WNBA's Sophie Cunningham reacting to an opponent recently and Carmen can't get enough of it. Have you ever wondered how loud you are in comparison to others? Now there's a new benchmark as a man recently claimed the title of World's Loudest Person. For those on vacation, there's a few things that they might be fearful of. For example, rip currents, grizzly bears and alligators. 00:32 Carmen's Audible Credits 04:34 A non-issue for narrators 08:00 Venezuela 10:32 Heat Dome coming 13:31 Emmie's FaceTime Sessions 18:11 Carmen already looking for football on TV 21:57 America 250 24:18 America and The Bible 28:43 WNBA's Sophie Cunningham and viral meme 33:29 Bill's fail at church trivia contest 37:05 CeCe's Worthy Of It All and Revelation 4:11 38:56 World's Loudest Person 43:48 Rip Currents 47:25 Alligator Attacks 50:05 Bill's BIG Word

As sports fans had their eyes fixated on the USA's World Cup match last night, Carmen wanted to make sure she got the details right so she had Hitch join the show on-air to talk all things soccer. Bill and his family had their first hot pot experience last night and they were so fixated on the menu that they asked for some help to figure out what they wanted. Carmen is fixated on a sweet treat that was brought in by the folks of Ruby Ray's Healthy Cafe in Brooksville and wants to get more. Back in the day, a woman became fixated with a piece of art and added it to her home decor. A family member recently took a picture and asked AI for help in identifying it and when they did, it was determined to be a very valuable piece. Now Carmen's wondering if she'll have a similar experience. In the news, much of the world is concerned with the recent earthquakes in Venezuela that have devastated the country. Danny Gokey recently shared that he has a form of OCD that has him fixated on moral/religious issues. People looking for deals online are fixated with Amazon Prime Days which ends today. Carmen and Bill discussed their hauls. Some of the deals are concerned with smart speakers and we've heard from many of you that that is how you are tuning us in these days. Carmen's biggest fixation right now is Mahjong. She got a new mat that she wanted to show the guys. And for those of you that are streaming via Amazon Alexa, there is an issue that has a temporary fix you should know about. 00:32 USA World Cup info needed 03:13 Hitch - Team USA Highlights 09:25 Bill's Hot Pot Experience 15:18 More dates from Ruby Ray's 17:59 AI helps identify valuable painting 21:11 Carmen's home artwork 24:46 Prayer for Venezuela 28:34 Danny Gokey - Scrupulosity OCD 32:52 Amazon Prime Day Haul 38:15 Our streams 41:06 Carmen's Mahjong set 46:06 Temporary fix on Alexa streaming 49:33 Bill's BIG Word

If you want to change your relationship with prayer, Beth Moore has a new journal out that takes you through 31 days of prayer. If you are more like Bill, you may need a calendar reminder to help you keep that change. Jules has a hilarious video where she changed into Lady Liberty and surprised our staff with an opportunity to meet her. A Tennessee truck stop has changed things up with the help of Dolly Parton coming on board. The new Dolly's Tennesseean truck stop had their grand opening yesterday and one small clip in the video had Dave changing his mind about going there (in a good way!) Carmen shared one of her favorite passages and changed it up with The Message version so that it hits a little differently. The way kids interact with toys versus technology has changed over the years. That is the focus of the new movie, Toy Story 5 and it's got parents thinking about the amount of time their kids spend on screens. Bill shared a study looking at parental behaviors that will change the way their kids maintain their faith. Things have certainly changed for Cotton. She wasn't due until July 13th, but she had her beautiful baby boy yesterday! Candice had some news that changed her plans yesterday. We didn't want to give too much away as we wanted you to hear it from her as well. There are some changes coming to college football this fall. Dave filled us in on all the details. A new EV truck is in the works from Jeff Bezos. This new affordable option will make quite a few changes to what you might be used to in a vehicle. From crank windows to no physical radio! And Candice rushed in to tell us the exciting news and how this whole recovery process has changed her relationship with the Lord. 00:32 Beth Moore's Align Journal 03:31 Journals and Calendar 06:25 Lady Liberty Video 10:00 text reactions 11:38 Dolly Parton's Truck Stop has Community Coffee 14:41 2 Samuel 22 17:34 Toy Story 5 - Parents on Screens 20:55 Study: raising kids in faith 23:41 Cotton's baby 26:40 Candice has big news as well 29:17 College Football Changes 34:04 Lady Liberty video 36:06 Bezos' new EV truck 40:52 Candice - Shoulder surgery update

A few rollercoaster riders lived out one of Carmen's worst fears when they got stuck on a ride at Six Flags. Carmen is seeing a trend of women wearing bandanas and wants to know if it is a trend that is sticking. You didn't have to stick around for long today to hear this week's Midweek Praise Break featuring God, I'm Just Grateful by Chandler Moore, Gratitude by Brandon Lake and Holy Forever by CeCe Winans. As Bill was praying earlier this morning, he felt the need to stick in a 6-step apology to God for not showing gratitude lately. Carmen heard a quote that has been sticking with her and shared it with us this morning. And you'll want to stick around to hear about a great deal on a Beth Moore Prayer Journal. As the World Cup continues, Bill gave us an update on today's games and some Americanisms that are sticking around with our foreign visitors. Dave's got a Dad Story journal that has been sticking around on his coffee table waiting for him to get started on it. There's news of a lawsuit going around and it's a bit of sticky situation for 2 yogurt companies. It seems that 2 colors of M&M's won't be sticking around much longer as the Mars Candy company makes a move to find natural coloring options. Bill shared the findings on a new study about ultra-processed foods and Carmen shared another quote that has stuck with her, but she had a hard time verbalizing it. One of the songs that was featured in our Midweek Praise Break has been stuck on Dave's mind as he finds himself in a time of gratefulness. 00:32 Stuck on SkyScreamer @ Six Flags 03:10 Bandanas? 05:54 Text 06:44 Midweek Praise Break - God, I'm Just Grateful/ Gratitude/ Holy Forever 08:26 Bill's 6-step apology in prayer 10:30 Microwave Society, Crockpot God 15:13 Beth Moore - Align 17:10 World Cup and Americanisms 20:49 Dad Story Journal 25:05 Yogurts Lawsuit 29:20 M&M natural colors - no blue 33:08 New Study on ultra-processed foods 37:06 Gratefulness 39:31 Bill's BIG Word

A few folks around the station got a chance to see Toy Story 5 this weekend and told us just how much they loved it. Dave wants to get in on it but doesn't want to go alone or spend the money to take 16 people to the movies. Carmen's got a few coworkers in on the craze of Mahjong and they have a text thread going about mats and tiles. Bill is still on the fence about getting in on the game of Mahjong as Carmen and his wife both play. As America celebrates 250 years of independence, McDonald's is reviving an old favorite - the fried apple pie. World Cup fans are loving America and sharing their fascinations with all things Americana on social media. Carmen and Bill were reluctant to get in a gondola on an America 250 Ferris Wheel at a festival recently. But Dave couldn't wait to learn about our 14th POTUS. Bill shared some thoughts on our country being a Republic of Virtue. Ava chimed in on the conversation with a song singing the names of the Presidents. Carmen had a word she wasn't familiar with from playing Wordle yesterday and as the guys tried to give her the definition, Hitch had to get in on it and let them know they were wrong. Bill's got a "new to him" espresso machine and wants to get into making espresso but is a little hesitant. Not too long ago, we talked about Dolly Parton opening a truck stop in Tennessee. Afton, a listener, stopped by as they were putting the finishing touches on the place just in time for the grand opening tomorrow. 00:32 Toy Story 5 03:42 Texts 06:54 Mahjong Monster Factory 11:09 Bill on the fence 13:32 McDonald's bringing back fried apple pie 17:20 World Cup fans loving America 21:11 America 250 Ferris Wheel experience 24:49 USA - A Republic of Virtue 28:55 Ava sings the Presidents 32:23 Carmen's BIGGER word - ovate 36:07 Bill's hand-me-down espresso machine 39:39 Listener sends in pics of Dolly's Truck Stop 41:17 Bill's BIG Word

Today's show was full of surprises. Well...mostly! Dave started us off with a countdown towards the start of college football. And for those of you that ordered merch from our 4th of July JOY Drop, check your mailboxes this week. Bill and Dave talked about stargazing this weekend as there was a celestial staircase visible in the skies. Carmen may be starting to become a night owl, all thanks to Mahjong! Dave is surprising himself and becoming a bit of a softie. Especially after the messages he got from his daughters-in-law and his sons. Bill went clothes shopping for his birthday and got a few things from Costco. The Ocala Police Department put out a fun video that has gone viral and Southwest shared a sweet video of a co-pilot giving a special sendoff to her pilot father. There's a surprising shortage of cottage cheese these days. Dave tells us why. Out of the blue, we got a couple of texts about the book, Theo Of Golden. And out of the blue, Dave shared that he quietly read the book while Bill and Carmen were reading it too! As the U.S.A celebrates 250 years, you might be surprised about the stance that George Washington took on prayer. Dave re-shared his devotional thought this morning as it discussed Psalm 103. And Carmen shared from the message that Pastor Aaron Burke had on Daddy Issues for Father's Day weekend. 00:32 75 Days 03:27 Merch is out 05:29 Stargazing weekend 07:18 Mahjong till Midnight! 12:04 Dave becoming a softie 16:53 Bill's Costco clothing haul 20:11 Ocala PD viral video 22:19 Southwest Pilot gets special sendoff 24:24 Cottage Cheese Shortage 28:27 Theo of Golden Sequel? and Dave's lowkey confession 30:51 Confession has to wait 31:29 Dave's Full Confession 34:51 America 250 - George Washington and Prayer 36:54 Psalm 103 East and West 40:45 Daddy Issues message 45:16 Bill's BIG Word

It's been a fun week of The Morning Cruise. On today's show, we shared parts of our conversation with Leanna Crawford when she was here on Tuesday. Find that HERE. After that, Bill shared just how grateful we should be on this Juneteenth and for the contributions of Lemuel Haynes. Then we had some new friends with Ruby Ray's Healthy Cafe stop by with a Candy Healthy Energy Bar for us to try and we were so grateful for that that we didn't want to share the rest! As we celebrate Father's Day this weekend, Carmen wondered if Dave and Bill had any plans. And we had some fun with Jules this week especially when she told us about her daughter's summer job offerings. 00:32 Juneteenth and The Revolution 02:51 Juneteenth - Lemuel Haynes and Politics 07:40 Ruby Ray's Healthy Cafe 12:43 Hitch almost gave them away 15:04 Father's Day 17:15 Jules - Dog Grooming 21:46 Bill's BIG Word

Some might call him the wise one of the group, especially when it comes to theology. Bill, is celebrating another year around the sun on his birthday today! He's got big plans. First, he'll be helping to pack up and ship our July 4th merch and then he's taking a trip to Costco tomorrow night with his wife. Carmen shared a video of 3 kids who learned through an exercise with their dad that his years of growing up were much different than they experienced. Speaking of that sun that Bill just made an annual trip around, the planets are putting on a show in the skies tomorrow! And we're coming up on an annual event that seems like the daylight is getting here earlier with the Summer Solstice. The Chosen has been out for a few years and we're coming close to the end of the series but Carmen needs to do some catching up. If you missed it this year, you'll have to wait until next year to get your hands on some July 4th JOY Drop merch. We're packing and shipping this year's orders today. With age comes wisdom. So too do patterns come with the generations. Bill shared some thoughts on generational wisdom and DNA. The maturation of faith on display between Forrest Frank and Cory Asbury is one that Carmen can't get enough of as it is showing some wisdom for all of us to learn from. One of the wisest teachers, Tim Keller, shared some years ago, some wisdom in his book, Prodigal God. 00:32 Birthday Packing Day 03:12 Birthday Costco Day 05:15 One Step Forward Father's Day video 08:33 Reaction to the video 10:08 Planetary staircase on display 13:33 Summer Solstice 18:37 The Chosen 23:23 JOY Drop Packing and Shipping Day 24:21 Generational Patterns and DNA 30:13 Good and Bad from Dad 35:42 Cory Asbury Forrest Frank friendship 40:22 Tim Keller - Prodigal God 44:13 Bill's BIG Word
