Today's a big day (and yesterday was too...we just forgot!) as we had our second ever JOY Drop. It's a Wednesday so you know that the Midweek Praise Break was gonna happen. We also shared the sad news of the passing of Jeremy Rosado's dad and Peabo Bryson. 00:32 JOY Drop happening today 03:35 Our 40th anniversary... a day late! 06:56 Midweek Praise Break - Battle Belongs (Phil Wickham)/ Goodness of God (CeCe Winans)/ How Great Thou Art (Matt Redman, et al...) 09:32 Prayer Line 11:45 JOY Drop 17:41 Jeremy Rosado's Dad 19:52 Peabo Bryson 22:47 Countdown to JOY Drop 26:40 JOY Drop Shop is Open 27:46 Get your merch now 30:59 Liv's thoughts 34:05 Bookstores 38:32 texts 41:10 Bill's BIG Word

Help yourself to tomorrow's 4th of July JOY Drop! Coffee assists us in a big way to do the morning show. But there are some other ways it helps our anxieties as well. Carmen's got a coffee-related hack to help menopausal women. Need some assistance with something for your kids to do this summer? Bill has some reading recommendations for you. The Word offers assitance with taking our thoughts captive. Dave needs some help with a broken bracelet. And his 2-year-old granddaughter needs a little help with pronouncing some words but not with carrying a tune! Ford Taylor is a name you'll hear a lot about as he has been with us the last 2 days offering some assistance with leadership training. He presents his materials in a Biblical way and in one case got some assistance from Micah 6:8. If you are driving through Tennessee and need some roadside assistance, you may want to stop a new Dolly Parton-owned truck stop. And it sounds like Carmen is about to help herself to some Dolly-themed Mahjongg tiles! 00:32 JOY Drop 02:56 Coffee Study 05:39 Hack for menopausal women 10:11 Reading recommendations for kids 15:26 texts 20:48 Taking Thoughts Captive 26:58 Bay Turner 28:23 Dave's broken bracelet 31:17 Smashing words together 33:29 Ford Taylor experience 36:12 Micah 6:8 39:02 Dolly themed Truck Stop 42:06 Dolly themed Mahjongg tiles 43:51 Bill's BIG Word

Dave is back after spending most of last week at a radio industry conference. He shared throughout the show about that experience. For those of us that have experienced hurricanes, today brings a bit of PTSD as it is the official start of the hurricane season. And take it from someone who knows what it means to be prepared. Our first experience with the JOY Drop Shop went so well that we are doing another one for the 4th of July. Sign up today to be notified when the shop launches this Wednesday. Pat Barrett's dad had quite the experience at our radio industry conference as he held court with many in the Contemporary Christian Music field. How teens experience chatbots is of particular concern these days as well as how AI is utilized. Bill had quite the experience this weekend as he made a good deal for some C.S. Lewis books. A 98-year-old man afraid of heights had quite the experience and made history as he went wing walking. As we get closer to the 250th anniversary of our nation, Bill is sharing some patriotic stories. Today, he shared the experience of the chaplain at Bunker Hill. On Saturday, after he returned from the conference, Dave considered staying at home but chose instead to accept the invite of a few friends to join them for a meal. It was a welcome experience as Saturday was the 1-year anniversary of the memorial service for his wife, Emilie. Candice is getting a lot of life experience as she continues to deal with a jaw wired shut and an impending surgery on her shoulder. 00:32 Dave's back 04:46 Dave's highlight from the conference 07:30 Start of Hurricane Season 10:45 Preparedness 11:37 JOY Drop 14:51 Marty Barrett 18:07 Chatbots and Teens 24:21 A.I. - a new utility? 28:44 C.S. Today's episode title may seem like were talking sports all day but far from it. That slogan fits with the conversations between Carmen, Bill, Jayar and Abbey. Abbey joined us for the first part of the show and she and Jayar discussed trusting God in the hard, sometimes easier said than done. When Abbey needed a 4th player for Mahjongg last weekend, Jayar dropped what he was doing to play a game he was not familiar with. With the help of YouTube, you can do just about anything. even apprenticeships. Carmen shared from an Instagram post on ambition and balance. As Cory Asbury is getting back to doing Christian music, he inadvertently is finding himself back in controversy over a grammatical error. Science says it's good to do short burts of exercise once an hour throughout your day. And to end the show, Bill thought it would be good for Jayar to give us a sampler of the Friday Afternoon Worship Experience. 00:32 Trusting God in the hard (Part 1) 05:52 Trusting God in the hard (Part 2) 10:08 Abbey and Jayar on Mahjongg 14:52 JOY Drop Shop opens next Wednesday 18:28 Do Anything on YouTube 22:07 YouTube apprenticeships 26:17 Chris Kuti - ambition and balance 31:17 Cory Asbury - OUTSING The Angels 36:02 Short bursts of exercise 40:47 Being active 44:12 Friday Afternoon Worship Experience Sampler 48:12 Wrapping up the week

We've got new merch coming your way with a 4th of July JOY Drop. But what's the deal with calling something fire these days? Today is national Burger Day. Jayar can't deal without having jalapenos on his burger. And there are a ton of deals for you to take advantage of today as well. With Jayar things can do off the rails and saying that out loud led to us hearing about someone Jayar knows that has dealt with being hit by a train and accidentally shooting themselves in the foot. What's the deal with Jayar's mom and witnessing to Ray Charles? Jayar shared that story with us this morning. Ben Sasse is dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis but has some wisdom to share as well. Candice is dealing with her jaw being wired shut as she recovers. She stopped by yesterday and shared an update with us. Carmen knows what's up with a hack to help you share your location quickly. What's the deal with Carmen always playing a CeCe song for the Midweek Praise Break? That's a common refrain she hears from Dave, Bill and Hitch. She managed to not do that yesterday. And today she wanted to have Jayar listen to a song he hadn't heard - Running To A Runaway by Phil Wickham and Lauren Daigle. Jayar needs another therapy session to find out what the deal is with his therapist asking if he wanted to continue with her. What's the deal with the anxious generation? Jonathan Haidt answers that his in his book and shared a video of a 3-year-old fearlessly rock climbing. 00:32 JOY Drop 03:05 Burger Day 06:00 Burger Day Deals 10:19 Hit By A Train 13:38 4th of July JOY Drop 17:55 Jayar's mom and Ray Charles 21:46 Ben Sasse 27:13 Update on Candice 31:30 iPhone Share My Location Hack 35:24 Running To A Runaway 38:35 Reaction to the song 41:08 Jayar and Therapy 45:43 The Anxious Generation 52:17 Bill's BIG Word

Bill shares from 2 Corinthians 5:1-7 as he leads us in our Morning Devotion for Thursday, May 28th.

Yesterday was Carmen and Pete's 36th wedding anniversary. She shared that this year was a low key affair and that led Bill to ask for some coaching on gifts for his wife for their upcoming anniversary. Jayar then joined the show and they discussed love languages. Jayar also showed off his new watch that he is debating returning to Amazon as he mistakenly purchased a women's Fitbit. Next Wednesday, we will have our second ever JOY Drop. This drop comes just in time for the 250th anniversary of our nation with some patriotic options for you. Carmen's youngest daughter, Abbey, then joined us and shared about the experiences she had for her birthday. A family dinner that included Jayar and a murder mystery dinner with family and friends. For this week's Midweek Praise Break, we shared So Will I by Hillsong United, Christ Be Magnified by Cody Carnes, and Fear Go by Mercy Culture. Jayar then shared from 2 Corinthians 1:9. A conversation they were having off the air about their shared experiences they have with faith and anxiety then made its way to the show. 00:32 Carmen's weekend anniversary 03:21 Coaching Bill 06:33 Love Languages 11:38 Love Languages (Part 2) 15:24 Jayar's new watch 20:18 Texts 23:40 Patriotic Merch coming soon 28:50 joydrop.shop next Wednesday 31:18 Abbey's birthday dinner with family and Jayar 36:43 Abbey's murder mystery dinner 41:57 Midweek Praise Break: So Will I (Hillsong United)/ Christ Be Magnified (Cody Carnes)/ Fear Go (Mercy Culture) 44:31 2 Corinthians 1:9 48:16 JOY Drop 50:45 Anxiety 59:36 Bill's BIG Word

For the holiday weekend, Dave made burgers so the meat didn't go bad while he's out of town the rest of this week. As Haley told us, Carmen made her family play Mahjongg yesterday. And today is Carmen and Pete's 26th wedding anniversary and Haley shared some insight into how they've made it work. Carvana is making it easier to work with dealerships to get a new car and Bill tells us how a set of bionic legs are making less work for a hike. Speaking of making it work, Steve "the mechanic" is a jack-of-all trades and is often put to work doing odd jobs at home, around the station and may one day have to do it at Carmen's home. The works of Leonardo Da Vinci are astounding but he never thought much of himself and his contributions to the world. But that is God working in our weakness. Back in the day, Carmen and Bill had jobs at the mall while Dave spent a lot of time visiting Emilie when they were dating. The mall was the place to be and it is having a bit of a resurgence among Gen Z. But are they returning to church? 00:32 Dave's Burgers 03:14 Haley - Mahjongg Memorial Day 06:53 Haley - Carmen and Pete's anniversary 10:32 Fruits of a long marriage 14:29 Carvana selling new cars 18:57 Bionic legs 21:59 Steve The Mechanic - Jack of all Trades 26:33 Steve The Mechanic - work to be done at Carmen's house 30:07 Leonardo Da Vinci and Contentment 34:44 God working in weakness 39:15 Gen Z returning to malls 43:48 Returning to church? 46:35 Bill's BIG Word

As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, Carmen and Haley told us about the Murder Mystery Dinner they are doing to celebrate Abbey's birthday. We also got a couple of updates on Candice following her surgery yesterday to fix her broken jaw. We then re-shared a conversation we had with Dave Barnes. It was the second time we've had him on the show and in this case, we had the interview at Brandon Heath's house. As a result, hilarity and mayhem ensued. 00:32 Memorial Day Weekend 03:30 Candice Update 05:47 Haley - Murder Mystery (Part 1) 10:52 Haley - Murder Mystery (Part 2) 14:01 Candice update/ Dave Barnes chat next 17:06 Dave Barnes - an example of obesity in Uganda 21:23 Bill asks about Brother Pastor Phil 23:01 Dave tries to hear from Brother Pastor Phil 23:59 Dadville Podcast 27:45 Dad Fail - daughter left behind 30:16 Impact of Ed Cash (We The Kingdom) 35:51 Ed Cash Concert Story

Jayar's awkwardness can sometimes make for some uncomfortable situations. As he celebrated a "milestone" birthday yesterday, we were reminded of some of those awkward situations we've found ourselves in with him. Jeff Probst found himself in a slightly uncomfortable position last night during the live portion of the Survivor finale. His gaffe reminded Bill of the gaffe that happened on his first day of working a morning radio show. Candice will certainly be uncomfortable for the forseeable future as she has surgery scheduled today for her jaw. She'll have her jaw wired shut and we can't imagine what that will be like. Carmen shared a word that she read yesterday that will get you uncomfortable about the thoughts you have about yourself and fighting the negative beliefs. On the 3rd anniversary of Tim Keller's passing, Bill shared what was his final message and he gets you out of your comfort zone about the things you are seeking and the reasons for it. That clip was just one of many quotable things from Keller that will get you on the right path with your faith. Our phones can feel like a place of comfort but often it hinders connection in real life. Halo Top Ice Cream and KitKat have a couple of products to help you put the phone down and enjoy the comforts that come with their products. 00:32 Jayar Birthday Memories - Part 1 04:14 Part 2 08:31 Survivor 50 Jeff Probst spoiler 14:14 Bill's first morning radio show 17:10 Candice surgery today 19:39 Cards for Candice 20:45 What you think in your heart 26:55 How to fight negative thoughts 31:43 Tim Keller 35:40 Kellerisms 39:12 Halo Top Ice Cream Silent A La Mode Spoon 45:16 KitKat's Phone Wrapper 48:26 Pray for Candice 52:15 Carmen's PPP - Abbey's 29th birthday 57:22 Bill's BIG Word
