And so we're just working less, which I'm very excited about. Oh. It's a permanent academic appointment that protects faculty from being dismissed without cause.

Commonly after a probationary period of five to seven years at the institution. Right. So we're coming up on, like, eight years of toast. So we got a sabbatical. Yeah, we gave ourselves one.

Well, you know, I'm just gonna. I'm doing me. That's what I'm doing this summer.

I'm just gonna focus on passion projects. It's not necessarily a gap year, but it's like. It's like. It's like I'm just gonna, like, you know, things I haven't done before. Like, I want to. I wanted to do, like, you know, pottery making. You know, there's like.

Well, I've been traveling. I'm not traveling a lot. I'm just going to the Hamptons.

When I sit down, I need an ice cold cocktail with a creative cocktail menu where I can choose from the house cocktails and get inspired for the what's to come for the meal. So if, you know, if they have something a good base cocktail menu that just, and also does classics really well, that's great. I'm starting with an ice cold cocktail, maybe martini. Then I like to start to munch on something fresh and raw. Like a raw preparation.

Was a name named prior to the birth?

Yes. Yes.

Oh, everyone knew.

No family knew. But, like, really, she kept. Did a really good job of keeping it under wraps because in the Jewish culture, you're not supposed to share the name of the baby until the bris if it's a boy. So she did a good job of that. And I was like, oh, well, I'm not going to be the one.

And there's loopholes.

[Claudia Oshry]

Even. Even now I still haven't said it because I'm just like. That's ingrained in me.

And there's a lot of. Not a lot of loopholes, but there's. It's. It's a. It's a. It's a tangled web. When you're naming a Jewish boy, I believe you have to have the first initial of someone who's passed. Or what is. What are the rules for this?

So it's nice to name after someone. And yes, in Judaism, we only name after people who have passed, not people who are still living. So you could either use the name of someone who has passed, who is significant, a grandparent, a parent, great grandparent, anywhere in the family tree. You could come up with your own name if you really want to. What?

The initial of the. Of the. Of the.

[Claudia Oshry]

Oh, yeah. You could also use the first initial that counts. Or you could just go rogue. Like, there's not a rule that you have to name for someone, but it's so meaningful when you do. Are you named for anyone?

Father, grandfather, and my father.

Yeah, they were Joseph.

Joseph. Joseph Kas.

Yeah. You're so not a Joseph. You're such a Jo.

Yeah. But it's a good name that you have that flexibility.

I mean, I. You know, a funny story is I thought I was going to be called Joe when I was growing up. And I remember this. Remember those Playboy name necklaces that everyone had in the 80s?

It was like, it was like a. Like a. It looked like a. Like a playing card and had like a Playboy bunny cut out and like. Like a heart. And it said like, your name diagonally on it.

And I remember, like, it was like, this is real gold. I said, I'm gonna have this for the rest. I was like, when I'm old, I'm gonna be wearing this for the rest of my life. So when I'm an adult, I'm gonna be called Joe. So I had it called instead of Joey. I had it said say Joe. So I was able to wear it.

So it's ever been for the rest of your life?

[Joey Kamasta]

Yeah. Cause it was gold.

But alas, you're still Joey, so I still have.

I still have it to the side.

You'd have to add a Y. It's not so hard.

I know. But yeah, Joseph Kamasta.

Love that. So, yeah, that would be. That would be perfect. So Claudia is son is named Ruben Ashray Safer. And he's named for my mom's dad, Ruben, and we're calling him Ruby.

How did that knee not get stolen already from the other sisters?

It's a great question. So I had the first boy, but I went Harry for my grandpa Harold.

And I just like always loved the name Harry. And that worked out well then. Yeah, Olivia went Levi, but she took the L from my mom's mom, Lillian.

As girls in the Australia household, were you girls, like, you know, talking about boys and who you're gonna marry and stuff like that? Was that ever a conversation like, no, I'm taking this name. Don't even try it, girl.

[Claudia Oshry]

So, like, a little bit, yes. But you can't really, like, take a name and claim a name, like, unless you're having a baby. So, like, you could say and make it known your preference. And Claudia always loved the name Ruben. And like, we kind of knew that that's what she would want. So, like, it wasn't. So we just sort of like, left it there for her.

That's so kind.

Yeah. And I. When it comes to, like, other names. No, it's kind of first come, first serve, you know, like, if you want the name, have the babe.

Yeah. That's why there's a lot of pressure. Put the ring on it. We gotta get this name before someone else gets it.

Exactly.

[Joey Kamasta]

There we go. I'm good. She got Ruben.

No middle names. Does Jewish people. Not your middle names.

I don't know what other people do, but we just do our last.

Yeah. And like, we're all girls, so the name isn't going to be passed down through our family. So it's just like a nice way to keep it in the family. And that way all the cousins have the same middle name of Ashrae. Like, my kids are also Ashrae middle name.

Now, do you think there's going to be. Do you think on the 1st of 4th of July there's going to be a Reuben sandwich?

And I knew for almost a year because I was trying to steal my. My father's friend's dog that he. I was always, like, I was always babysitting him. So I had him cloned sort of like I, I wanted to. I went to his like the parents of the baby of that dog that I loved and tried to have them make again. But one of them was out of commission. The one. The woman wasn't working anymore as, as a. As a wet, wet wife. I don't know what they called him. The dog woman wasn't. She wasn't working. So I had to go. I had to outsource somewhere else. So I found the same kind of like you know cousins of whatever trickle down to. To Brooklyn. There was a breeder there that had the macro teacup long haired Chihuahuas got it.

And tri color sable in tri color sable. So that's how you came upon.

And I said so I found it and I found him and it was there and then I was looking on the. The all the birth date of the litter and the birthday of the litter was the same birthday as my late mother.

So I said that's what we say in Judaism but share it meant to be Basher Bisharta Becherta. Meant to be.

[Joey Kamasta]

It was meant to be. So I said but then I realized I adopted a Leo dog.

[Claudia Oshry]

So I was like oh, what is the vibe?

You know just, just entitled as a Leo. So just very just you know they with rightly so they are the stars of the show at all times and you know just. It's a big, it's a big ego ego. So he prances around and owns the whole place.

What's your horoscope? Are you a Scorpio?

I'm a Capricorn. Oh, I'm very, I'm very like I need to know everything before it happens. I have the fear of the unknown. I need to schedule everything and know what's gonna happen. Like if I'm going to a restaurant.

Like I, I'll like you look at the menu.

Not only look at the menu. I'm like we're gonna. Who's sitting where this bitch doesn't eat fish. So if I want to share the appetizer at the table is she gonna be like oh I'm not having any of that. Like this one has shellfish allergy. If I wanted to get the tower, I'm gonna have to sit on this side of the thing. Like I, it's. It goes in so deep and besides just like what, what we're gonna order?

Wanna get the bottle? I mean this is. There's by the glasses, there's this sauv blanc I want to spring for the bottle. I know that she's, you know, a little cheap. But does it wind up being as stressful as you thought it was going to be, or.

No, because everyone knows that I'm a psycho, so they just kind of let me. They just kind of, like, bite the door.

Like, you sit there, we're getting the tower you can have.

Yeah. And I'm always terrified there's not gonna be enough food. And I was like, you know, so I have to, like, you know, eat before I go because I don't, like, you know, to, like, not get the last shrimp.

No, that's really stressful.

It's a lot of stress. So that. Yes. Anything in life's like that. So I have to, like, know everything.

Maybe that's why you stay home and cook, because, like, you can plan exactly.

So they found really great dupes and the products they were making were incredible. The thing with the line, those cheap line that lines are inexpensive like that, they're how they're able to get such quality products and like, and still sell for cheap prices. There's is, there's minimums. Like Elf is carried at every, every drugstore, cvs, Target, everywhere in the world. And so they're ordering so much of that one product so they're able to get it at a lower cost because they're ordering billions of units of it. So a smaller brand like, you know, that's only at a few department stores, select department stores and things like that. They have to have a much higher price point because the packaging is much more elite and expensive. And they're not, they're not ordering as much of it. So they're going to have to pay a higher premium for that. So that's why you can get those big brands like l' Oreal and you know, and drugstore brands. You get great products for a lot cheaper.

So this is gonna be a sequel to Amanda Seyfried's movie. Are they gonna read you Amanda Seyfried's movie?

I think this will be number three. Like, maybe it's even. I don't know how you would do it in a way that Sabrina Carpenter is the lead, like, not Amanda Seyfried's daughter.

So this was a movie. I'm sorry, is Mamma Mia. Was it a. Was it a Broadway show and then it became a mo.

So the Broadway show only showed. Only told one story. So that movie's that. That was emulated in the first movie.

In the first Mamma Mia. Which did really well to me, the second Mamia, now they're talking about a third starring Sabrina. Oh, I think. I think it's good news, like, because it would be good for Sabrina to be, like, box office queen. Would be great for her.

She's good. A lot of people know she's been around for many moons.

[Claudia Oshry]

She can do it all Yeah, I. I've not been sleeping on Sabrina Carpenter. Like, I would never. I've been a fan of her for. For her whole tenure. Yeah, but people, like, don't really realize. They think, oh, I like espresso, please. And then they see her in concert, they're like, she can dance, she's funny, she can act. I'm like, yeah. Cause she's a Disney character.

She made a brand. She made a brand for herself. She's got that kind of whole niche thing down pat that whatever she's doing.

Do you see her in concert?

[Joey Kamasta]

I haven't seen her in concert. Oh, I've seen her in concert. Yes, you did. At the VMAs. She was performing.

Oh, you and MTV.

We were linked and just like obsessed.

Yeah. So she was. She's the VMAs and she. She killed it. She was one of the best performers I ever seen. So she has great stage presence. She's marketed herself into this quirky, you know, 50s, 60s, glam bob, whatever, feminine thing. And it's just. It just works for her. She found she found the right niche and I think she's. She's appealing to a broader audience. Men want to see her because she's beautiful. Girls like it because she's relatable and she says, you know, powerful songs about her, you know, about feminine femininity. And she's just, you know, an all around, like, you know, pretty American girl. I think she's very. I like her.

Yeah, I like her too. I feel like we have mostly the same opinions about people.

They announced a few weeks ago they're bringing it back.

They're now they're everyone, these housewives. It's getting themselves into like, you know, strange territory because, like, if I was a Lady of London, I'd be like, what the hell? What's wrong with us? Why are you bringing a whole other cast of characters in here? Renew our show.

Oh, they both have shows now.

They're both having shows. So now we're having Real Houses of London. A good old fashioned tea party cast by. Hi, you. And the cast is out. And it's interesting for one reason. And then we're waiting on Ladies of London cast. But they already said Ladies of London is going to be all new people. Now I'm holding out hope that there'll be some familiar faces, however.

So Stanberry going to jump to the new housewife.

She lives in Dubai.

Then she moved to Dubai with her husband at the time, Jem. They divorced. She still lives in Dubai with her new husband Sergio. And she's on Real Housewives of Dubai, which I think is not coming back. I think it's not working. So it's time to move back to London. Caroline Stanbury, she's also like an aristocrat, like a British aristocrat.

I like watching her.

I love her. She's one of my favorite reality TV stars ever. And now there's To London ladies shows for ladies in London. Oh, and she needs to be on one of them. And there's no show in Dubai at the moment.

Yeah. I think her whole family is in London. She's like from there. She has history. She's like tied to the royal family.

And association wise, I think that's what people are going to be expecting because like again, I didn't know both shows or both franchises were greenlit again for season two. But I now that I know I would want her to be part of that in some capacity because otherwise it's not as familiar for me.

Me as well. But what's interesting is Real Houses of London cast is announced and the one name that we do know and is familiar is Juliet Angus. Remember Juliet? She had the King Charles Cavaliers.

Oh yes.

She's the American, like the chatty American. But then her and Caroline wound up being unlikely friends.

[Joey Kamasta]

I think that. Yeah.

And she's an influencer now. She does like, she's a full time content creator so she'll be great.

I'm interested to see what the, the ladies, the Housewives of London are going to be. I have a feeling they're going to be a little bit grittier than you would expect. When you hear London, you think, you know, high society, rich tea ladies, like, you know, ties to the royal family being blah, blah, blah. I think it's gonna be a little bit more Soho, Piccadilly. Is that, is that London Piccadilly?

Yeah, that sounds right.

Or something like that. I think it's gonna be a little bit more like, you know, like rock and roll ish. Or like, like, you know, like a little bit more like like a, a grungy fashion designer.

I feel it's gonna be the beginning of something new.

Right. I think there's a lot to be seen there because it's a lot of. Everyone thinks Rhode island is like, there's a huge Italian American community there. I think that's what they're focusing on.

I've seen pictures and a little bit of bios of some of the presumed ladies who.

So you think it will be like Pauly D's?

I don't think it'll be that. I think it'll be. I think it'll be. As opposed to like what you would think about, like, it'd be like, you think right on anything. Gingham and coastal gingham and like lobster bakes and clam and clam hydrangeas and white picket fences. I think it's going to be more Holiday house. I think it's going to be more that. That focusing on that kind of like Italian American culture that's over there.

A lot of times I don't watch shows because of that. It's like, like the Traders. Like if, if the Traders had podcasts instead of like all these reality stars, I would fucking crush the traitors.

I've never met him, but I actually. So reading in part one was enjoyable. Nothing like, major happened. Just like, some converse. Nothing moved the needle in terms of. Terms of, like, what the drama on the show, but just people were sharing.

Are they in the same house every year?

[Claudia Oshry]

They're in the same house every year. And I actually had a thought last night, which is that, like, summer house could really take place anywhere on earth. Like, it doesn't have to be in the Hamptons. They don't leave the house. It's just like, you come to, like, they sometimes go to a club or something, but they can't really bring the cameras. The town of the Hamptons doesn't really like them filming in the Hamptons, so they really are relegated to this house. So it's like, why don't you just get a house somewhere else and you could have an even bigger house with, like, more things going on.

Rhode Island.

[Claudia Oshry]

It's like Jersey Shore showed us the shore. Like, you would go to Jersey Shore as a tourist, like, to have the Jersey Shore experience. We're going to Karma. We're going to the T shirt shop. Like, there were the spots. The boardwalk, like, it showed Summer House, like, has no neighborhood.

[Joey Kamasta]

Like, there's nothing I'm surprised about. So I would think that that's what would get the draw. I mean, I know the character cast of characters is fabulous and the drama's great, but I would think that everyone that, you know, Hampton's such a niche thing in New York that like. Like a lot of people, like, only hear about the hams. They don't really know what it's like. I think if they. I. They showed, like, you know, what the restaurants are, what it's like to, like, go to the beach. Or, like, you're getting.

[Claudia Oshry]

Trying to get surface going to the beach, them bringing, lugging their chairs. Doesn't look glam. They don't show us, like, walking down Main street, getting a coffee. People just, like, sneak out.

[Joey Kamasta]

Yeah.

[Claudia Oshry]

And it's like they rent in south. Which is the most expensive Hampton. It's like, okay, I understand you want to go to the Hamptons because that's what people in New York do. So, like, what they're not going to. To go upstate every weekend, but, like, get a house in quag, like, get something closer to the city. I don't know why you have to be in Southampton. We're not seeing anything about Southampton, even though it doesn't matter at this point. It was just something I noted. Whereas, like, there's nothing Hamptons about this show.

And is there, is there a relationship drama? Is anyone sleeping with anyone in the cast?

[Claudia Oshry]

So, yeah. So this season, Lexi, who was on the toast yesterday, stunning girl. Stunning, beautiful girl inside and out. It was her first season on the show and she, like, made a very quick connection with Jesse Solomon, who's West's best friend, who. It's his second season, like, immediately sparks flew. It reminded me a lot of Jersey Shore. Like, Sam, it's a bad example. But like Sam and Ron, that's what made the show so good was like a bunch of people and like, there were a couple people who like, really connected and like, that's what's great reality television when you're in a share house. And so the whole season is about like their relationship there. Like really hot and heavy, really fast. But, like, he's not ready for a relationship and isn't acting right all the time. And by the end of the summer, they do break up. But that is the core drama of the summer.

And what does Paige get into? She just gives the one liners and, and, and, and just gives the sass pretty much.

[Claudia Oshry]

So last season, like, she was still with Craig, he came to the house one time for a weekend, which we're used to at this point.

[Joey Kamasta]

He's from Southern Charm, not Southern House. Summer house.

[Claudia Oshry]

He's from Southern Charm, Correct. Charleston.

[Joey Kamasta]

That's right.

[Claudia Oshry]

So but her relationship, they're still together over the summer, so it's a lot about, like, how she's feeling in the relationship.

[Joey Kamasta]

Does he come on the show?

[Claudia Oshry]

He does. And every year that they've been together. No, because it's lover boy taboo. They would block it out. Everything on the show is lover boy. And we have drama.

[Joey Kamasta]

I know, I know the drama.

[Claudia Oshry]

It's funny to like, watch the show and I'm like, oh, that's like, I have beef here. But that's kind of good that you don't watch a show because, like, if you have like, friends with the cast, it's like weird if you're watching your show.

[Joey Kamasta]

Well, the thing is, also I'm very good friends with Hannah Burner and I had no idea. I knew she was on the show, but I didn't know there was a scandal about her, like, getting, getting. I don't know. She got kicked off her fire. Something happened, happen.

[Claudia Oshry]

She got pushed out allegedly. Because I had no idea. A brand deal with Truly. And then Loverboy is like, they run the show.

[Joey Kamasta]

Lover Boy is problematic. It sounds like.

[Claudia Oshry]

Yeah. They're just, like, there's enough space for everyone.

[Joey Kamasta]

Yeah.

[Claudia Oshry]

And, like, it's not like Lover. So Lover Boy is on every single episode, hands in hand all the time. All they drink is Lover Boy.

[Joey Kamasta]

Is that. Is that now a summer house as a whole owns that or one. One.

[Claudia Oshry]

So one cast member does. I don't know if Bravo owns any of it, because I remember after Bethany, like, now Bravo owns, like, a piece of any brand that launches on the show. So I don't know what Bravo's involvement is. But, like, they don't let really. He doesn't really let anyone bring anything else into the house. Like, the whole. Every party is stocked by, like, cases on cases. Like. And why would you even need something else, may I ask?

[Joey Kamasta]

Islam is. I see Lemonade promoted on. On Southern Charm of Spritz.

[Claudia Oshry]

It's in, like, Craig, if he's having the backyard barbecue. Like, it's the. But it's not like, the whole show.

[Joey Kamasta]

Yeah, but Rob was not taking a cut of your sales.

[Claudia Oshry]

No.

[Joey Kamasta]

Good.

[Claudia Oshry]

Yeah. So I think sometimes they blur it out. I don't know what that's about. We've signed releases. Like, go ahead.

Who knew the canned cocktail world was so intertwined?

[Claudia Oshry]

There's so much drama in this world. This all went down, like, a year ago, but, yeah, it's just sort of like cold war, colder cocktails.

[Joey Kamasta]

True. Dad, I'm gonna go to Target after this.

I'm doing a lot of things after this.
