Jackie
Good morning, girlies. It's the Toast.
Jackson Claude
It's Jackson Claude, and we're your host. It's your favorite show. The Fast 5 things you need to know. We'll start your day off Swirly. It's the Toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to the Toast. Happy Friday. Cause we are fucking celebrating, Liz. We are celebrating, Liz. Cause Lizard Pete is back in the studio with me. It is our last day of Jackson Friends. We have a banger episode for you guys. Liz and I are endeavoring to bite off a lot today.
Liz
A lot.
Jackson Claude
Fast Five stories.
Liz
Fast Five stories.
Jackson Claude
Love island recap, dear toasters. And then we have a guest interview that I recorded yesterday with AJ from the Costco guys that is just gonna make your day. So if we can keep this episode to two hours, I would be very impressed by us.
Liz
Same here. We have a lot to do.
Jackson Claude
We have a lot to do. And. But I feel like everyone deserves a little Friday treat. Like, we're going out of Jackson Friends. With a boom.
Liz
With a boom. Five. Well. Oh, I don't want to spoil it.
Jackson Claude
Don't spoil. But I think we could say it's with five big booms. Yeah, for sure. And then on Monday, Claudia is back with me before we head off on summer break. I know people were like, wait, I thought Claudia's doing the last show. The last show was Monday. Because Monday is still June.
Liz
June 30th.
Jackson Claude
June 30th.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
A great day. Lizard, welcome back to the show.
Liz
Thank you. I'm so happy to be doing a second show. I feel like yesterday I was, like, diving in, and I don't really podcast ever, so I was sort of getting my feet wet. And now I feel a lot more like yesterday I had to take a quarter Klonopin because I was nervous. And so today I feel like I can just be myself and relax and converse.
Jackson Claude
Yes. And I feel like yesterday we got the formalities out of the way. You know, what do you think about Taylor and Travis? Who are you? Where do you hail from?
Liz
Kylie and Timothy.
Jackson Claude
Kylie and Timothy. We didn't do Blake and Justin yet, and let's see if we can get away with not doing it. But we're certainly not going to do it at this moment. Now, tell me about this Klonopin. Is that a beta blocker?
Liz
No.
Jackson Claude
What's a beta blocker?
Liz
Beta blockers are. I don't think their primary use is for anxiety, but they happen to help. Klonopin is a. I don't know. It's in the like.
Jackson Claude
Like, A Xanax.
Liz
It's. It's like a Xanax. It's like another form of Xanax, as far as I know.
Jackson Claude
But you go Klon over Xan.
Liz
Yes. Klonopin doesn't make me feel as. It doesn't make me feel drowsy.
Jackson Claude
Right. Because the idea of, like, me taking a Xanax before doing the toast seems counterintuitive.
Liz
Yes. You want to be bubbly and energetic, but I was nervous. And also, even when I'm excited and not nervous, I get nervous anxiety. Like, when I would go to camp as a child. Actually, it's departure day for a lot of those or arrival day for a lot of those campers.
Jackson Claude
Bon voyage, campers.
Liz
I used to throw up every. Like, every time I was on the drive to camp. Not because I was nervous after my first summer, but because I was so excited. Like, I would just throw up.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Did you feel like you were gonna throw up yesterday on the toast?
Liz
No.
Jackson Claude
Thank goodness.
Liz
Yeah. That would have been, like, the first time for. First time for everything.
Jackson Claude
That would have been.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Okay. Well, I'm glad that you're feeling great, and so you didn't take the Klon today.
Liz
No, no. I'm ready to go.
Jackson Claude
You're feeling like yourself again.
Liz
Yes. Yeah, you could say that.
Jackson Claude
So last night we both watched Watch Love island separately in our quarters.
Liz
Yes.
Jackson Claude
So we will be recapping. I haven't even spoken about it with you, like, on the drive over here. I don't know how you're feeling. I don't even know if I saw, like, stories with your thoughts.
Liz
I wrote down my. My notes on my phone.
Jackson Claude
Oh, okay. Perfect. And we are going to do the fast five today. I actually had a really busy morning, so I was like, liz, you want to take a stab at choosing. So I think most. I think we're five for five. I think, like, Lizard chose the stories, which I think is perfect because you're the story queen.
Liz
You are also shifting liability. So if people don't like the stories, it's like, well, you guys can come after.
Jackson Claude
The thing is, people never like the stories. I'm so hardened to that criticism. Because you chose the stories today and tell them how. It's not as easy as it looks.
Liz
There is a dearth.
Jackson Claude
Like I said yesterday, it's not even a bad day. Anna Wintour left Vogue.
Liz
Right. But that's it. That's one. So there is a dearth of stories. And all of the publicists, if they're not already on vacation, they're on vacation. There's, like, the Lauren Sanchez Jeff Bezos wedding, of course. But I feel like we said what we needed to say and about it yesterday.
Jackson Claude
We spoke about it the day before and we're gonna talk about it on Monday. So, like, let's have a break.
Liz
Yeah, Right. So the stories, if they're a little silly, come to me, not to Jackie.
Jackson Claude
No, but you can come to me. Like, I'm prepared to take it, because I know. And I've been in the trenches for years, but I do feel like now maybe, like, you'll have my back. Not that you didn't, like, not that anyone was asking, like, where do you stand on Jackie's story picking abilities? But if they did, you'd say, leave her alone.
Liz
I think I really tried to get, like, what you guys go for. There were a couple of things that people were talking about on the Internet that don't deserve, like, a story spot. Lil Bieber. Even though I was. I thought maybe he listened to the toast yesterday because it's like, oh, he was inspired by Lil Bow Wow. Lil Romeo.
Jackson Claude
Lil. Yeah, he's thinking of Lil.
Liz
Right? Exactly.
Jackson Claude
Right. They made an Instagram handle for their child. I have.
Liz
No, no, no. Like, that was Justin Bieber changing his Instagram handle to Lil Bieber, but it.
Jackson Claude
Only had, like 200k. Or was that 200 million?
Liz
It was just. I think it was Justin Bieber.
Jackson Claude
Hold on. Yeah, okay. Maybe it is a story now. I thought they made an Instagram for the baby.
Liz
The reason I didn't pick it is because it's hard to talk about. It's hard to talk about. And. And there's. And there's never clarity.
Jackson Claude
Lil Bieber. Justin Bieber. Oh, 200 million. Yeah. Not 200k. I just assumed that was a K. Yeah. Oh, okay. Lil Bieber.
Liz
Lil Bieber.
Jackson Claude
No, I have no thoughts until further notice. Like, until we find out what this means.
Liz
Yes.
Jackson Claude
I'm kind of fatigued on jb.
Liz
Yes, me too.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
JB Squared. Yeah.
Jackson Claude
JB Squared.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Who's the other.
Liz
The other Justin? Baldoni.
Jackson Claude
Baldoni. Oh, my gosh. Okay, let's just get into it, like, because I feel like it's a rite of passage for Jackson friends for you to tell me where you stand on Justin B. Blake.
Liz
I don't have anything new to say. You guys really do a good job.
Jackson Claude
Are you more of a Jackson Claude? We're so. We really come at it differently.
Liz
I'm more of a Claude. But one thing I will say is when I'm talking About pop culture phenomena like this, I often think that the simplest answer is the right one and that people in all of their conspiracies can go a little nuts. The issue with this case is that neither side is that simple. Neither allegation is that simple. It's like, on the one hand, you have a person who's alleging that these people were maybe trying to, like, steal a film from under him, and then the other side is alleging, you know, these really serious things. And I thought Jared Freed talked about it really well, which was, like, when you. When there's conversations of, like, sexual harassment, it's. It sort of stops being fun pop culture fodder. But it was definitely eye opening as it relates to, like, the astroturfing. I think that wherever you fall, it's sort of like open people's eyes to that corner of the Internet. So that's my way of dodging talking about my, like, my. My true opinion.
Jackson Claude
So Claude.
Liz
Yeah. And. Well, you could say it's Claude. It's also just diplomatic.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I understand. And I understand, like, not wanting to go down with that sinking ship. Like, I'll go down for stuff and I'll die on hills, but certainly not that one. I don't even understand. Even though you gu. I'm loving Blake brown Beauty. So am I. I've been spritzing my hair with, like, the hair spritzer because it's a little less committal than a perfume. I like the bergamont wooded one. And because we have guests every day in the studio, I like. And I give everyone a hug. Like, I want them to, like, smell something nice. Not. Not nice. So I've been using it, and I like it. And I like Break Brown Beauty. What can I say?
Liz
It's great. I also was sent.
Jackson Claude
Did you get the whole, like, the kit I got?
Liz
I think everything. Yeah. Like, it looks like the mask, the mousse. I use the mask, the mousse every time I blow dry my hair. And I also really like it.
Jackson Claude
What do you use a mousse for?
Liz
Actually, Claudia told me that when she blow dries her hair, she uses a mousse and color. Wow. And as soon as I got that, I switched it. It's just supposed to hold the curl better. I mean, I don't know how it will hold up in Florida. I don't know how anything holds up in Florida.
Jackson Claude
I like putting stuff in my hair before I blow dry it. I didn't realize that's what mousse was for. I thought mousse. I Used mousse when I was, like, in middle school to scrunch my ha.
Liz
Or you were trying to, like, slick your hair back, maybe?
Jackson Claude
No, I've never used a mousse for that. Only, like, for, like, a wet look.
Liz
And so what do you use in your hair when you're blow drying it?
Jackson Claude
I rotate between the Wella spray, the color wow money. I don't know what it's called. Money. Give me the money spray. I have a couple other sprays that. That are, like, pre blow dry heat protectant sprays.
Liz
Yeah. So I use the mousse as a hold and the spray to help with defrazz, which, like, it does nothing when I'm down here. My hair just, like, is not used to this weather at all. But generally, I'm an advocate for the Blake Brown mousse and the color wow coat. Dream coat.
Jackson Claude
That's the shellac.
Liz
Yes.
Jackson Claude
That I love. That's in my hair today. That's. But I put that on dry hair.
Liz
Okay. We're not talking about the same thing anymore. The. The dream coat is, like, what you put on before you. Before you blow dry your hair. The spray bottle.
Jackson Claude
Oh. Oh, okay. I. I don't think I use that. And I should. It's good. I love pre blow dry stuff, so I will use. She also sent, like, the wonder potion. That's what I've been using. Pre blow dry from Blake Brown.
Liz
I don't think I got that. Maybe it came out after I received.
Jackson Claude
My PR because you got it sooner than me. But it's so weird that they sent it to me, like, this month when I'm, like, completely, you know, off team Blake.
Liz
Maybe they saw that as an opportunity.
Jackson Claude
No, it's genius, because every time we come up, like, I have to say how much I love Brown beauty.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
And the brand gets the things can be true. Yes. Like, I think she could be wrong about this, but right about that.
Liz
Do you think she's wrong about this?
Jackson Claude
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, team heard it here first. No, no, no. I jumped ship, like, publicly. And a while ago. I'm no longer, like, with her. I'm not. Hashtag. I'm not with her.
Liz
Okay.
Jackson Claude
But I'm not, like, with him. But I guess, like, I'm more with him. I don't know. I think he was, like, more wronged in. In totality. Okay. Totality. So I guess we could get into the stories because we have a very busy day, and we'll just, like, circle back to lizard p Tings. Please do as they emerge. Shall we?
Liz
Yes, I'm ready.
Jackson Claude
Okay, great. So now without further do that doo da do it is time for the Fast 5 stories that you need to know. And you also need to know that today's episode of the Toast is brought to you by by Taylor Farms. Taylor Farms. Yummy. Yummy. So I love Taylor Farms. As you know, they make the parest salad kits. It's salad in a bag, but don't let that stop you from trying it because it is fresh, it is crisp, it is creative. They have the best flavors. Sweet kale, Caesar, avocado ranch, Mediterranean crunch. My whole family loves them. I use them for so many different needs. Most of the time I'm having a solo salad. I'll do it like for lunch or I'll have a salad for dinner. If I'm making the kids a protein, I'll just like put mine on top of a salad because I'm incredibly thin. But then other times we're having like a dinner party or having people over. And so of course you have to like make a salad to go with the meal, even though probably people wouldn't eat it because it might be yucky. And I'll do Taylor Farms because I'm not about to start washing lettuce and chopping and getting out all the vegetables. And I'll just do a beautiful Taylor Farm salad. It complements the meal so nicely. Everyone does eat it because it is so good. And that way I look like the hero who incorporated the salad into the meal and took the time to shred the lettuce like to a T, which I also love, like bite sized bites of salad. I don't want big leaves. Taylor Farms their shredder. Like give him a promotion and it's definitely a man. Anyways, Taylor Farms is available at all major grocery stores and you should grab a Taylor Farms chop salad kit and get your salad together because it is the best way to consume salad. And I'm just so grateful that Taylor Farm exists and it's saved me so much time and energy in making salads and I am eating more salads because of of Lurd Farms. So thank you, Taylor Farms. Anna Wintour Is Stepping down as the Editor in Chief of Vogue after 37 years so influential style icon Anna Wintour is stepping down as the editor in chief of Vogue's US edition after 37 years of running the fashion world with her trailblazing vision and icy perfectionism, a source close to the magazine's owner, Conde Nas, told the Post on Thursday. So she announced that she's seeking a new head of editorial content for American Vogue during a staff meeting Thursday morning, according to a company spokesperson. She will retain some of her power, though, at the publication by hanging on to two key positions, the spokesperson said. She will remain Conde Nast global chief content officer and Vogue's global editorial director, with the magazine's new editor in chief reporting directly to her.
Liz
Well, I I mean, her tenure predates me. Like, she's been doing this for 37 years, and I think she helped to make the Met Gala what it is, which I think is like one of the biggest accomplishments. And I also think she obviously helped to platform all of these designers that now we know today her influence really can't be overstated in that way. I actually think that the Devil Wears Prada probably got that right as it relates to, like that famous speech of Meryl Streep talking about cerulean blue. Yes, the colors. I think that that's really true. I think that, like, that the editorial stuff does ultimately dictate what you see in mass markets. And I think that's great. I will say I have been, as a passive consumer of Vogue, like, less impressed with their content over the past, I don't know, five years. I think it's even just the covers have been a little bit not inspiring. And like, for instance, when they picked Hailey Bieber and there was that whole saga, the actual cover I thought was like Kind of meh. And that's just, like, a small example of how I think need to do a shakeup. Now, if she retains some power, I don't know how much of a shakeup there will be. I don't know what this means, like, who the next person will be, but I think maybe they are in need of a shakeup. So this could be good for Vogue.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I think it could be time. I also wouldn't have been surprised if she, like, never left. I just hope that they make, like, a strong choice, you know, because it feels like on the one hand, it's like, one foot in, one foot out, and then it's like, okay, so they'll bring someone in as the global head, as the editorial director of Vogue, but she's still the global head of Vogue. So, like, at the end of the day, she's their boss. And whatever she says about the covers, like, it's still gonna have Anna's thumbprint. Whereas I'm ready for a new era. Like, it didn't have to be today. Could have been in a few years, could have been a few years ago. But I think fresh is always good. And I agree with you that the last few years have been less than impressive. Like, I think British Vogue puts American Vogue to shame these days in terms of, like, the creative direction of the covers and also the selection of people on the COVID So I think there's a lot of room for growth and new broom sweeps clean. So it'll just be, like, very exciting. But she will still be in this world in a big way. And also, she has a big job at Conde Nast, so it's like, they're not gonna go too sideways. Cause she is still going to be, like, approving or not approving the big decisions.
Liz
Right? And I think she probably helped to establish, like, the blueprint that they have now in terms of, like, the type of people that they pick, what type of stories they pick, what they share on social media. So whether that's, like, good or bad, you know, you want there to be a change. It might be one foot in, one foot out. Did you think of Jacqueline Follet when you saw this story?
Jackson Claude
No, I didn't think of it. I really thought of British Vogue and, like, Edward Enifill and him, like, putting Anna to shame. But I guess this is like a Jacqueline Foley situation. And I do hope, I hope that the person who comes in, not that I expect that I would know them, but what I'm looking for, like, I kind of want it to be Someone young, just so that it's someone who could have a. A 40 year career at Vogue, like, and someone who can really make it their own. I don't know that that's what they're gonna do, though. I feel like it might just be like someone that Anna has worked with for the last 37 years, like Stanley Tucci coming up. But he would have been a good choice.
Liz
Stanley Tucci.
Jackson Claude
Stanley Tucci in the movie. In the movie. Like, if we're looking at this like Devil Wears Prada, like, I think the Stanley Tucci character would have been a good choice.
Liz
Let me ask you a question, because you read Andre Leon Talley's book, right?
Jackson Claude
I did. And thank you for remembering that about me.
Liz
He passed away a couple years ago. Y think that if he were alive, he would have been a person to take the helm or he sort of distanced himself before he passed away.
Jackson Claude
Well, he did distance himself, but I feel like even in terms of his skill set, like, this person needs to be, like, not just like someone with an eye and a creative, but also like a logistical, tactical person. And I feel like people like Andre and also Grace, like, they are the artists. And I don't know that this is a job for an artist only because you also need to be a business person. Not that they don't also have those skills, but sometimes, like, you got to let the, the artists be artists.
Liz
Right? She's. She was a curator in a lot of ways. Like, she was the one selecting the art and making sure it all sort of.
Jackson Claude
You're also making business decisions about, like, ad sales and content. And it's not just like, the fun of, like, this is beautiful. Let's make something beautiful.
Liz
Right? Right. Yeah. So I don't, I don't know enough about, like, that industry who works for Conde Nast who would, like, take up the helm. But I'm. I'm really curious to see who it is.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I'm really curious too. I don't expect that I'll know their name, but when I see, like, their body of work and like, their experience, I hope to be impressed and excited. But I think in general, even though Vogue, like, lacks a lot in terms of the, the magazine and the COVID stars and all of that, I feel like their online presence is fine. Like, you know, I feel like they're staying abreast in a float. Like, they have their get ready with me's with the celebrities and the what's in my bags. And like, do you really think that there's so much more that they could or should be doing. Or you feel like they are getting left behind on social media.
Liz
No, I don't. I think they have to sort of toggle between, like, being social media conscious, because that's just what everybody does, no matter how much you try to avoid it. Like, you have to play into the Instagram and the TikTok and the people that are popular there. But I also think it just. They have to be faster, both with the covers and with social. Like, the fact that they. Like you said, British Vogue seems to always pick people who are just, like, having their moment right now. And I think something about American Vogue, it feels like they're always a little bit delayed when they. When they're picking their talent.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. And I also feel like British Vogue, like, picks people and that gives them, like, a stamp of approval. So even if they're not at, like, the mountain peak right now, like, a list forever, like, them being on British Vogue, like, means something and could, like, change their career a little bit. Whereas American Vogue should be like that, too. You shouldn't have to be, like, around the block for so long before you get the COVID Like, why don't you let us know who we should be influenced by long before. They've been influencing us for years. Hailey Bieber.
Liz
Right, That's a good point. You're sort of saying the inverse of what I'm saying, which is, like, actually, it shouldn't even be, like, a delayed person that we already like. It should be, like, somebody new or a rising star or, like, someone in fashion. I think they could do better at, like, showing us what's in fashion as opposed to trying to, like, mirror what exists in pop culture.
Jackson Claude
Right. Like, the obvious choices. Even, like, with Alex Earle on the Turkish cover of Vogue, if that had been American Vogue, which I never would expect Vogue to put Alex Earl on the COVID because of the way that Vogue is. But, like, if Vogue put Alex Earl on the COVID like, that would change her career. Like, that would, like, change the trajectory. And that's what I feel like it used to be. Like, you would find people, whether it was models or celebrities, and, like, you would give they. Vogue is one of those outlets. But even, like, a Calvin Klein campaign where it's like, and now you've made it, and I just feel like they could be doing more of that. Doesn't have to be Alex Earl in particular, because I think people would riot in the streets if she were on the COVID of Oak. But I'm just saying, like, if that would just change things as Opposed to just choosing, like, the obvious choice. Who this doesn't move the needle for.
Liz
Agreed.
Jackson Claude
Even Kim. Like, by the time Kim got on the COVID like, she'd been Kim.
Liz
I agree. Except for I remember those photos of her and Kanye in North at the time was, like, so major. And maybe it was because, like, I was such a big fan that I was like, she got Vogue. And maybe the Vogue readers didn't feel that way. I'm sure they didn't, but I don't know. I thought that was, like, such an amazing moment in time, for sure.
Jackson Claude
But by the time Kim Kardashian got a solo Vogue cover, she was. It's like, kind of like, wait, she didn't already have one.
Liz
Right. She had already sort of ascended.
Jackson Claude
And even the Kim Kanye north photos, like, I remember, they were not.
Liz
They weren't pargie. That is true. I actually. I never understood why they sort of made Kim look the way that she didn't.
Jackson Claude
Why did they do that?
Liz
She's a beautiful woman.
Jackson Claude
Why did they do that to her?
Liz
Yeah. Yeah. I'm not sure they don't like her. Well, they didn't.
Jackson Claude
Right. I think there's room for improvement is all I'll say. But, like, she's obviously have a storied career. She's changed the fashion industry. But I look forward. I always like. You know, I like change, but I also like strong decisions. Not just, like, well, someone's being promoted as the interim editor in chief, and then a few years later, like, they slip in someone and they stink.
Liz
Right. The Kenning. The Ken Jennings. My N. Bialik shtick.
Jackson Claude
Exactly. If they had chosen Ken from the jump, it would have been very exciting.
Liz
Agreed. And I think he's. I'm a huge Jeopardy. Fan, and I actually think he's doing great. It took me a while to sort of warm to him, but, like, I. I think, think he's killing it.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
Yeah. Big Ken fan, so.
Jackson Claude
And he was always the obvious choice.
Liz
He was. He was always the obvious choice. And he. He sort of lacked in the beginning what Alex took a long time to develop, which was this. Like, he would not bully, but he would sort of, like, make fun of the guests in a way that was, like, very warm and wholesome. And Ken can be kind of stiff, so I could see why it would be hard for him to do that. And I think he's starting to really find his footing and jeopardy. Like, you're doing a great job. If anyone was wondering what my opinion was, great.
Jackson Claude
I'm so glad we can after five years. Say that. Yeah, after, like, when we should have been able to say it, like, a year later. Like, no time wasted.
Liz
And, like, Aaron Rodgers was up for the bid at some. It was. It was. It was.
Jackson Claude
Aaron Rodgers was ever gonna host Jeopardy.
Liz
He's still playing football, by the way.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, right.
Liz
Maybe if he had been the host, like, this whole Jets Steelers thing would have. It never would have happened because he would have taken the. Taken the Jeopardy. Role.
Jackson Claude
Him as the host of Jeopardy. Is an insane concept. Like, maybe when he. He's 70, but even still, I think he's gonna be, like, in the gym or in.
Liz
On his trip to Ayahuasca.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, yeah, exactly. So this is just exciting to see who will take up the mantle. What do you think it will mean for the Met Gala? I feel like she could still be involved in the Met Gala because it's due to her role at the Costume Institute.
Liz
Yeah. I think the Met Gala sort of runs itself, honestly. Like, there's a formula for who gets invited, and sometimes it's confusing. Why didn't this person get invited? Why did this one? But I think it. It sort of runs itself and maybe help to decide those last people, like.
Jackson Claude
Who'S gonna choose the theme. I feel like that she was choosing themes.
Liz
Was she. Was she the curator of the exhibit at the end?
Jackson Claude
No, but I feel like she was, like, she was working with the exhibit because, like, whatever the theme is, is the theme of the gala.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
And it should be famous couples throughout history.
Liz
It should.
Jackson Claude
But they would never.
Liz
Maybe. Yeah, we'll see.
Jackson Claude
Maybe the next person is a Josie Grossi. Stan.
Liz
Or a toaster.
Jackson Claude
Or a toaster. Probably not.
Liz
I don't think the twain meet.
Jackson Claude
I don't think so. And that's, you know, for the best. We're very commercial around here. We're not super editorial.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
So we'll just pick out this blue from a pile of stuff. This blue. Actually, we're both wearing Toast Merch today. A couple of fashion icons. Yeah.
Liz
I'm so excited to wear mine.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I actually haven't worn, like, a merch. Had, like, a sweatsuit day. But then you were wearing your merch today. So I was like, okay, I'll wear my merch. What fits this? Our next story, some Golden Bachelor controversy because Golden Bachelor star Mel owens, who is 66, is facing backlash after admitting that he will cut any women over 60. So Mel Owens admitted he's not interested in dating anyone over 60. He said in a podcast interview earlier this month that if they're over 60, I'm cutting them. He added that he was frank with producers during the casting process, telling them he only wanted women aged 45 to 60. Just being honest, he said, this is not the Silver Bachelor. This is the Golden Bachelor. They've got to be fit because I stay in shape and work out and stuff. And I told producers to try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs. Oh, my God. Like, nasty.
Liz
It is nasty.
Jackson Claude
That's really nasty. I feel like, what? Like, this is the gold. I didn't know that you could get older than, like, he's talking about Silver Bachelor.
Liz
Yeah. On the one hand, I actually do like a bachelor who wants to, like, shake things up and stand on business and just, like, say something a little crazy because it gets people talking. Yeah. And it is sort of an interesting conversation of, like. Like, do. Do age preferences. Are they still, like, allowed when you're a certain age and people do this all the time? Like, when you're on hinge or something like that, you can filter out ages. And it usually relates to. At least from my perspective, like, if you're a woman in your 30s and you want someone, like, age appropriate, you want someone who's, like, ready to settle down or get married. I haven't heard about, like, older people having age preferences. I think he could have said this more diplomatically and said, like, I want someone who's. Who likes an active lifestyle.
Jackson Claude
I think he could have kept this to himself and eliminate women over 60 or who seemed over 60 and had an artificial hip, and no one would have been sitting there doing the math, being, like, he eliminated the women over 60. Like, it just, like, comes off nasty the way that he said it. And maybe he's trying to drum a buzz. And I hadn't heard of Mel Owens before, and it doesn't make me, like, necessarily want to watch the Golden Bachelor more than I already did, but it gets the people going. But, like, Bachelor typically really stays away from. They don't court controversy. They literally, like, run scared.
Liz
That's true.
Jackson Claude
I won't be surprised if they fire him.
Liz
Yeah, I actually, I wondered. I kept reading this article thinking maybe it says, like, whether he has kids. Has he been single for a long time? Because I think people were tweeting, like, well, it shows why he's single if he has this sort of attitude about. About age. And also, like, who are you?
Jackson Claude
You're 66, right? It does. I think he. I think anyone, like, not to judge or anything, but here I go. Like, I think that if he hasn't been, like, married in his lifetime or, like, I don't know about kids because you never know. But, like, if he hasn't had, like a marriage at 66, like, that's a red flag.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
And then he's coming on the Bachelor to get married at 6. Like, no, you don't. By 66, you are who you are and you're not gonna get married. So I would imagine he has, like a past life, but maybe he's single at 66 because he's not being open to women his age.
Liz
Right. So not married. Red flag. Also divorced. Why were you divorced?
Jackson Claude
But it's like, so he wouldn't date Ramona Singer, maybe.
Liz
How old is Ramona?
Jackson Claude
Ramona's in her 60s.
Liz
Yeah. Yeah. I don't care for that.
Jackson Claude
I feel like sometimes age is just a number. Like, there could be a woman in her 50s who is older than a woman in, like, you know, everybody ages differently and takes care of themselves differently. Ramona is 68 years old.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
And you're saying that you wouldn't date her?
Liz
Yeah, I think he's, he, not only is he being controversial and frankly, rude, but he also is like, failing to sort of.
Jackson Claude
He's being short sighted.
Liz
He's being short sighted. Right. Like you said, an active 65 year old is maybe healthier or more, you know, what he wants than a not active 40 year old. I don't know.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, yeah. So I feel like this is not a good look for him and it's a little rude and he could have gotten away. Like, you can have your preferences. There are kinder ways to communicate them. And then also sometimes you could just like, like keep that shit to yourself.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
What's he gonna go around asking everyone's age on the first night?
Liz
I guess he was telling producers, don't even bring these women to me.
Jackson Claude
Okay, but like, what if there's a 63 year old who's like, crushing it?
Liz
They, like, the producers come, like, groveling over to him, like, take a look at her.
Jackson Claude
I think you'll like her. But then him just being like, I don't know. I just feel like the. I, I, yes, in general, you want someone like, maybe a few years younger than you are. If he's, like, really kept up with himself over the years, he might see himself as like a 55. So I can, in his mind, he's like, okay, I want someone who's in this range, but, like, to be so exclusionary. 60, when's your birthday out of here. Like, I think that's a little insane. And I would expect a little more maturity from the Golden Bachelor who has historically been a P job. Like this is a role for a P job.
Liz
Is it?
Jackson Claude
Is it not?
Liz
Well, didn't those two get divorced after three months? I don't remember where we like on that. On. On.
Jackson Claude
I know they tried to cancel Jerry because of the hot tub, but why did they get divorced? Him and Teresa?
Liz
It wasn't working.
Jackson Claude
But was it because he wasn't a P jam or they just like weren't a fit?
Liz
I'm not sure. To get to me to go on the Golden Bachelor be married for three months and then get divorced is like psychotic.
Jackson Claude
Why even bother? No, that was a really bad for the brand.
Liz
Yeah. So maybe he's trying to, I don't know, make a name for the brand in a different way and he shoots and misses.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Well, okay. We'll see how it goes for him. I wish him luck. What was the deal with him? We now we talked about him. I think he's like a former football player or something.
Liz
Oh, really?
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Mel Owens.
Jackie
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
He used to play for the Rams. He what? Let me. I'm trying to see if he had a wife. It's not coming up. So. Red flag. Yeah. No one with artificial hips. That's making headlines. Yikes. Yikes. Mel, do better.
Liz
Also, like, I don't know much about artificial hips, but I feel like if you're someone who has an artificial hip, it's because you live and you want to have a healthier lifestyle.
Jackson Claude
I've heard that a hip replacement is life changing and you're like, you know, robotic.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
In the way you're able to move in a good way. Like you've got 360 motion.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
You could put these kids to shame. So he.
Liz
He's not thinking clearly. Clearly.
Jackson Claude
Right. I feel like he has a stick. Like, look at Kris Jenner after she got her hit and her face and her. He would. He wouldn't take Chris.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
Really?
Liz
New lease on life.
Jackson Claude
Really?
Liz
Maybe they'll collab again. Because remember, she collabed with the previous one on I wonder how she feels about this.
Jackson Claude
It's an insult to her.
Liz
Yeah. Storyline idea for the. For the Kardashians.
Jackson Claude
Our next story. Speaking of artificial body parts, Leann Rimes's teeth fell out mid concert. So country singer Leanne Rimes bravely displayed her showmanship when her teeth popped out while performing mid concert. She addressed the accident in a video uploaded to Instagram where she warned all her future concertgoers if you catch them, please return them. She was performing at a casino in Washington when she felt a pop. While singing her 1996 hit, One Way Ticket, she said her front dental bridge fell out and proceeded to run off stage to fix them before completing the rest of the show.
Liz
This is a state of the union on false teeth. Everybody has them. But it's, I guess, surprising to me that hers would fall out because don't most people get. Get veneers.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
Which are, like, glued onto your teeth.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. But then I think there is a case for dentures. Like, at a certain point, you know, if the fake teeth are not adapting to your mouth and you just, like, sort of want a clean house, like, let's just let it rip.
Liz
I think, though, if you're a singer, wouldn't you want the option where, like, the teeth couldn't fall out?
Jackson Claude
But what if she. I'm sure she. I feel like if you get to this place and. How old is she? That.
Liz
50S?
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Oh, young enough for mellow ones. If you get to this place where, like, you have a rack.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Like, you've been through a lot along the way, and I have to imagine that, like, permanent veneers haven't worked for her.
Liz
Okay. And I think probably her dental team has considered these things. And you know what? Like, it's fun and funny, so I think it works for her. Although maybe it was embarrassing in the most.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. And then when they fall out, like, on stage at a casino, do you put that back in your mouth?
Liz
Oh, I don't know. What's the.
Jackson Claude
Or you just, like, could sanitize them.
Liz
Also, like, can you still sing without your teeth?
Jackson Claude
I don't know.
Liz
I think you rely a lot on the, like, linguistics. Depends on your teeth, so. So I don't really.
Jackson Claude
She could. Humor. Maybe she could yodel. Hit him with a yodel.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Leanne. That is her song.
Liz
Oh, did you watch the Four Seasons?
Jackson Claude
No. Did you?
Liz
Claudia, I think, recommended it on the show. I started it. And there's just. I. I honestly think you would really like it. I'm just echoing that and I'm thinking of it because there's a scene where one of the characters is singing. Does she sing? You're still the one I want. Or is that Shania Twain? Okay. This is like. These two are. Those two are the same.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. And Jewel. Once you throw Jewel in there.
Liz
I don't know one Jewel song.
Jackson Claude
I think you probably do.
Liz
Maybe I've heard it, but I. Yeah.
Jackson Claude
These are just like, Jewel and Leanne Rhymes, I feel like, are really similar. Should I Twain to me, like, she has.
Liz
She stands out.
Jackson Claude
Eclipsed this trope. And then also Cheryl Crowe. It's just a lot. All very similar.
Liz
Very similar, ladies. Well, the dental.
Jackson Claude
She stands out with her dental teeth and also her Brandy Glanville drama and Eddie Cibrian. Oh, yeah, that's right.
Liz
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, she took an L here, but it seems like she handled it very well because I would never go on stage again.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. And I don't know how I would handle it, but she, like, drew attention to it. She did an Instagram story, and then, like, I think that also made it, like, more buzzy because maybe if it, like, fell out at a casino in Washington, like, people might not have told the press. Like, could have been our little secret. Don't worry, Leanne.
Liz
We'll keep your secret.
Jackson Claude
I love that.
Liz
Yeah, I think that. I think that it was handled well. Well, good luck, Leanne, on future endeavors. I wonder if this will change the. The scope of her. Her dental work. But, yeah.
Jackson Claude
Oh, her dentist is getting a nasty call.
Liz
Hopefully no one, like, finds out. Like, no one doxes the dentist.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Yeah. It's not his fault. It's not his fault. Our next story, some crazy news. Brad Pitt's home was burglarized after thieves entered through a front window and ransacked his property, police says. So please say Brad Pitt's home in the Los Feliz neighborhood of LA has allegedly been burglarized. The alleged burglary occurred at approximately 10:30pm on Wednesday, June 25. The LAPD told people the suspects broke into the residence via a front window, ransacked the location, then fled the location with miscellaneous property. There were three suspects they have yet to be publicly identified. He was not home at the time of the burglary.
Liz
This seems so unavoidable when you're someone in the public eye and people know that you're not home. And it's scary. It happens with football players when they're at games. It obviously happens with. I mean, it happens with the Beverly Hills people all the time when they're home. This could have been worse. He could have been home. It could have been much scarier. But, yeah, he's obviously out and about. He's having a moment. And they knew, I guess.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I guess. I've seen a lot of stuff about the F1 premiere. So if you did ask me where Bad Pitt was, like, you'd say, not home, I guess. Yeah, he was at the premiere of this movie, F1 which a sudden everyone's talking about. There's a soundtrack. Yeah, they got the works.
Liz
I don't know. When you're this big of a celebrity, like you don't have necessarily round the clock security at your house. Is that like crazy that they. That I think that they should.
Jackson Claude
Or like a house manager sitter, like someone who would stay at your house to manage the home. I'm sure it's a large home.
Liz
Yeah. So I don't know. I don't know. My husband and I were talking about like, what do you think the most valuable things are in his home? I said art, but I don't. One thing that confused me about that show, your friends and neighbors is like when he was trying to steal art, like, isn't that really hard to resell? Like, who wants to buy art on the black market for that much money? Or does it sort of like pass in tunnels and then it like eventually emerges and someone wants to buy it because it's, oh, this piece. But that part was so unbelievable to me because it's like, who. I don't understand. Who would buy. Buy stolen art?
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I feel like it. There is a market, like our famous art has been stolen. I think even like the Mona Lisa was stolen for a number of years until it was recovered. No one like bought it and it was hanging in their house. Because that's very obvious.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
But I think like the point of that guy in your friends and neighbors who was able to like sell stolen art was that like he also had a gallery and like, so he has buyers. Maybe he has also buyers who don't really care about the origins. They just want, want great art, you know, because it's like, yeah, if something was hanging in a gallery, like if you walk into a gallery and there's just a piece of art, like an amazing one of a kind piece there, like you didn't ask where it came from.
Liz
Maybe not. But if you are wanting to pay the price that they want for the piece or how, how much it's worth, wouldn't you want like a certificate that's of, of the chain of custody of the art? So I don't know.
Jackson Claude
I don't know. But I feel like there is an answer to that, to why people would.
Liz
Buy art on a black market.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Or how people who like get it illegally then are able to sell it and maybe the buyer never even knew that it was illegal.
Liz
Yeah, I think it's certainly possible. There was a lot of that with like Jews in Europe had art and then like, the Nazis ransacked and stole them. And there were a lot of pieces that have left. Like, even today, they're still litigating. Like Woman in Gold, Right? Exactly. Like the chain of custody of these pieces of art that, like, it's international law. It gets kind of hairy. But, you know, I hope that nothing like that he really cares about was taken. And I'm glad that he wasn't there. And it sounds like, you know, they found out and everything, so.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, just really, really crazy. I mean, there's always, like, there comes a ministering of celebrity burglary and home invasions, which just happen a lot.
Liz
Yeah, inevitable. Like I said.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Very scary. You should watch Woman in Gold separately, though. That's a great movie.
Liz
I haven't seen it.
Jackson Claude
What?
Liz
Never seen it. Who's in it?
Jackson Claude
Helen Mirren. I actually think Ryan. Helen Mirren Dame. I think Ryan Reynolds is in it, which is to his credit.
Liz
Oh, okay. Yeah. I would love to watch it.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. No, you would. You would love it because. What were you talking about? There's also, like, books, historical fiction books about this, I think, like, Woman on Fire is another one where it's. It's like literally the movie book. Different Woman, but same story of, like.
Liz
You just always hear this lore of, like, Jewish families whose art was taken from them and they haven't been able to recover it because it's like it was lost in war or.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
You know.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Stolen. And. No, they go to court and she goes back. Cause it's like her aunt. It's like a Klimt piece. Gustav Klimt.
Liz
Klimt. And yeah, there was that exhibit for him in New York City, too. Right. Was that that controversy brought up when that.
Jackson Claude
I think so. I think the movie, like, it actually lives in New York City, but there was also then the one that was like Lumineers or something where it was like, more immersive because there is, like, a climp. You can go see Woman in Gold in New York City. It's like, in a museum. But then there was, like, a more immersive experience. Klimt experience. I think they also did it with, like, Picasso, where they make it like, Museum of Ice Cream. Klimt edition also. Cool.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Our fifth and final story. Little Love island news that's going to lead into our TV recap because Love Island USA's Hannah is revealing whether she had a deeper connection with Charlie or Pepe. So Hannah is now doing press after being dumped from the island, and she's talking about her connections with Charlie Versus her connection with Pepe. It's funny they include, like, people's last names here, but I'm not interested.
Liz
No, me neither.
Jackson Claude
I just got Charlie's last name.
Liz
Giorgio Italian.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, British Italian. Hannah Fields. Okay. I think it's just better if they're one name wonders.
Liz
Yeah, me too.
Jackson Claude
Anyway, she said that she had a super mature connection with Pepe. She said, I think my connections with both of them were very different, and maybe it would have played out differently if Charlie was still there, but I saw a completely different side of Pepe after Charlie left, and I maybe would have never known that about him. Many of her and Pepe's sweeter moments were not really shown. She said our connection was not really shown, but literally everyone was always taking pictures of us and being, oh, my gosh, so cute. She said she had a really mature connection with him, but we were also super silly. Yeah, that's what I gathered. I feel like they showed that how, like, Charlie and her were, like, the obvious connection. And then with Pepe, it was, I mean, a slower burn in the sense that it took a day. But then when they did get on the same page, like, she was making him fun and light hearted and he was making her go a little deeper.
Liz
Yeah, I. I have to speak. I don't want to speak for Claudia, but I. I can. And that she loves, loves Pepe.
Jackson Claude
Claudia loves Pepe, loves Pepe. He, like, texts about Love island all the time. And she was like, pepe and Grayson, hard eyes emoji. It's like, literally said no one.
Liz
Right. No one's paying attention to him anymore.
Jackson Claude
No one's paying attention to Grayson either.
Liz
I don't know which one is she? The blonde one? Yeah. Oh, yeah. People were saying that she kind of, like, looks like Hannah a little bit, so it sort of makes sense. I do think that this is possible with the show is that we're not seeing a lot of these connections play out. We can't. They literally film them.
Jackson Claude
24 hours, 35 people to keep track of now.
Liz
Right, right. So, I mean, no matter what she says, even if she has a really strong connection with Pepe, like, the way that she moved was a little bit questionable. And I think it's reasonable for people to say, like, well, you kind of jump from one to the other quite fast. But I believe that, like, they ultimately had a connection, like, they don't have anything else to do.
Jackson Claude
So I think that if Hannah went from Charlie to the next day, she went on a date with Pepe, like, that had to happen. I think it would. And she connected with Pepe and all was good. I think viewers would have no issue with it. I think it was the set the next night that was so crazy.
Liz
Quite crazy. I mean, she wanted comfort after Charlie left.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. So I think that every. Like, that just made it, like, very stark. Like, literally crying over Charlie the night before. But the photo was very dramatic. And then the next.
Liz
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, the photo.
Jackson Claude
Maybe it was two nights later or I don't know what it was in villa time. I'll give it up to three to whatever. A couple nights later. Having sex with Pepe.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
In the bunk house.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Extreme. I'll say. So let's talk about last night's episode, because we got some answers on Nick and Alandria. They did not leave the. The island. They went on a date, and they were offered the chance to recouple as a couple together or go home single and separate and go back into the villa, which they did. And right before they went back to the villa, Nick said, you know what, Alandra? Like, I want to take this time to. To get to know you, like, on a romantic level. Like, I've. I've been feeling something this whole time, and now we have a chance to explore it. They also got to swap information about what's been happening in the villa and casa, and that was just, like, fun to see. And it really feels like the producers are, like, scripting the show based on what people on Twitter are saying and what people on Twitter want. And on the one hand, I watched Nick, like, profess his love for Orlando. I was like, wow, nickelandrea stands have been right. And I feel like every recap I do on this show, I've been, like, mentioning nickelandrea stands for some reason. There's a million things I see, but I'm just like, that's how crazy people are. There's nickelandrea fan edits, and either they were right or producers just really want the vocal people on Twitter to like the season because they orchestrated everything to put Nick and Alandria together, which they've done.
Liz
I think they threw so much shit at the wall this season. I think this is the one that sticks, because when you think about how it plays out, it's like, Nick and Alandria. What happens with Sierra? Sierra and Alandria are friends. Like, they're two of the. I think besides Huda, maybe the only OGs standing.
Jackson Claude
Shelly, too.
Liz
Oh, and Shelly. But my point is, like, she. Sierra is going to be devastated. She's kind of not really feeling elan enough to pursue that. And I think that this opens up. But also, I don't think Alandra necessarily did anything wrong. Like, I see people being mad at her, like, she's disloyal, but it's like, I don't think so at all. I don't think any of the couples were strong enough for them to, like, not be able to speak to or get to know other people.
Jackson Claude
I don't think Alandria has done anything wrong either. Like, it will devastate Sierra, but that's this show. Like, that's exactly what it is. And everyone's doing what they were supposed to do. I just thought it was really sad, the juxtaposition of Sierra, like, not going all in on Alon because she's still thinking about Nick. Meanwhile, Nick is moving in on her best friend.
Liz
Yeah. And also the. The Taylor stuff. Taylor noticeably didn't go to hug Alandria when he saw that Alandria and Nick were both back in the Villa. Like, he zoomed right to Nick. And people made note of that because it's like, the girl that you were coupled up with, you just totally ignored her. And maybe he feels awkward because he's with Clark, but I think Alandria, like.
Jackson Claude
Still likes him, which is so crazy to me. I look forward to the dissolution of Alandria and Taylor. Like, it's not been giving me anything, and I. I like her so much, and. And I, like. Like, her and Nick are fan favorites, so them being together, if it is real, works for me. And that's a winning couple because they have overcome adversity. It was the whole time I was looking at you, you were looking at me.
Liz
We.
Jackson Claude
Oh, they did always pick each other to kiss in the challenges. Like, he. Maybe those edits weren't so crazy after all. So, like, that is a storyline that, like, could win in this show, whereas we have not seen anything else like that. And Taylor and Alandra, like, she deserves someone who likes her. He did not like her. And, like, watching them was just, like, frustrating and boring. And then, like, them, it's actually been four weeks now. Like, in the beginning, it's like, listen, you don't want to jump all in with someone like, girl, I get it. But four weeks and on Villa time, that's a really long time. And if he's still not. If you guys aren't progressing and he can't let, like, give you anything, it's not it. And the fact that we now see him with Clark being a completely different person. Well, now we know.
Liz
Yeah. That he just wasn't that into her.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. And I think he was, like, trying to tell. He, like, said it to Ace at one point, but I don't know, they just kept saying no. They have. They're so strong. They're the best. And I'm really glad. I really hope this chapter is over and done with.
Liz
Yeah. Do you think Alandria likes Nick?
Jackson Claude
I think Alandria is very authentic in the things that she says. So if. I don't think she will pretend to like Nick if she doesn't. I think she's open to it. I think she was really shocked to hear him say these things. I. I do wonder if a producer is telling Nick to say these things, like, hey, listen, this is your shot. Everyone on Twitter wants you and Elandra to be together. And I wouldn't be surprised if he's like, oh, I love that. Like, I really. I did like her. Or like, I think she's so cute and I think she's so great. Like, I'll do it. Sure. I don't think Alandria would just do something to be on the show. Like, she's a very principled person, so I think she will give it a spin. But if at the end of the day she's not into it, she will tell us. And if she does say that she's into it, I will believe her. She has earned credibility.
Liz
I think that also the way that this played out sort of gave credence to the idea that the producers get involved in the eliminations even when the islanders are seemingly the ones deciding. And it's not just fan voted, because when you think about it, it's like. Like if they. Those were the two people eliminated and they made it seem like this get together hideaway date happened right after the eliminations. It was dark during the eliminations. This happened right after that. Like, do you think that they, the producers, actively somehow manipulated the islanders to pick those two people so that this would all take place? Because otherwise, how would they have, like, set up the date that fast?
Jackson Claude
Yes. But also it's like, okay, so what if Amaya was eliminated with Nick?
Liz
That's what I'm saying.
Jackson Claude
They would have gone to the right. They would have gone to the highway. They would say, you want to be in a couple, and we're supposed to be excited about. That's like, the worst couple ever.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
What if, like, Austin were. He was. It was between Austin and Nick to be eliminated because Jaden was choosing, and it was between Alandria and Amaya. So all it had to take was a producer saying to Jaden, like, you should go with Austin. Nick is going. Like, there's going to be an elimination tomorrow. Nick is going to choose Sierra, and you're going home. Like, and even. And I said, I think Jaden only chose Austin so she can stay on because Nick is a riskier choice.
Jackie
But.
Jackson Claude
But even she said last night she chose Austin. She likes him. Whatever she said, I feel safe with him, and I feel like that was like, a safety about the show, her.
Liz
Position on the show.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. So I don't think it took much for a producer to convince her to go with Austin, and I don't think it took much for a producer to convince Zach to go with Amaya. Plus, like, Amaya is giving it to him. Like, she's, like, down. And again, she's a safe choice because she's untethered to the house. So, like, yeah, that. Sure, we'll do that.
Liz
There was a stark contrast between Alandria and Amaya and Zach. And Amaya was, like, a little desperate, but, like, she was really saying, like, I like you. I want to make this work. We're kissing.
Jackson Claude
I think Elantra Amaya will like anyone who likes her. And in an earnest way, like, all she wants is to be loved. Like, if Ace had been kind to her, she would have been happy with Ace. If Austin liked her more, she would have been happy to be with Austin. I think if Zach likes her, like, and I don't think that's even, like, phony. Like, I think she just is a person who likes, loves, love, and loves to be loved. And maybe like, down the line, like, months into a relationship, she'd be like, actually, this is not what Amaya wants. But I think right now Amaya wants is, like, just to be wanted and like, and also assuming, like, you're a good, handsome person. Yeah. Cool. Let's go.
Liz
Do you like Amaya?
Jackson Claude
Like, no, I'm not entertained. Like, I don't dislike her. There's nothing to dislike. She's obviously a sweet soul. I am not entertained by her. Like, when Natalie was here, she was like, oh, my God, she's so funny. She says the funniest stuff. I'm like, I'm not even paying attention. Like, and when people are like she said, or what was opportunity? I'm like, I'm not even listening. I heard gratitudally, but, like, I'm not paying them or they're, like, quoting her confessionals back to me. I'm Like, I'm not listening. Like, I don't know. She doesn't, like, pull me in. Seems like a sweet girl, but I'm not, like, sat for everything she has to say. Like, I am with other people.
Liz
I'm not sat for everything she has to say. But I do think, like, the edits that people make of her are hilarious because she kind of just speaks in a. In a strange. She says words weirdly. And I. I was talking about how she randomly dropped the word tachycardic in an interview, and I was like, oh, she kind of. But is. Is she a nurse?
Jackson Claude
She is a nurse.
Liz
Okay, so then that's a word that she, like, uses frequently. But it just. It was a funny juxtaposition of, like, using that word and then saying opportunity and gratitude incorrectly. Those feel.
Jackson Claude
What do you think about. Do you like her?
Liz
Like, I like her.
Jackson Claude
Okay.
Liz
I like her.
Jackson Claude
If she got eliminated, would you be sad?
Liz
Yeah. Because I think she adds something to the show. I think she's, like, silly. I'm not necessarily. I don't necessarily want her to win, although I don't think that matters to me.
Jackson Claude
So if she won, that would be so crazy to me.
Liz
It would be crazy. And I don't know who she. I guess now she's with Zach K. So they would probably be the winning couple. I do like her. I think she, like, adds something. I think in the beginning, I thought she was really crazy, and she was. Her whole thing with Ace was crazy, but I think that she's just, like, she's harmless is what I would.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, I agree. I agree. But, like, it's not my favorite form of entertainment.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Who else? The challenge was insane.
Liz
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're. They're doing cheerleading pyramids. Pyramids.
Jackson Claude
They're having an orgy.
Liz
Yeah, it was. It was crazy. And you were saying offline that it was, like, amusing that everybody was doing. It's so embarrassing when you're doing so much in those challenges and then you lose. Yeah, it's very embarrassing.
Jackson Claude
No, Huda was in two out of three. She did three separate. Like, she was called on thrice, and the first two times she didn't win, and, like, she was doing the most. Like, that's really embarrassing. And then the third one, she won. But, like, seriously, we were getting to a place of a live blowjob last night. Yes. The people were seriously licking parts.
Liz
Yes. It wasn't very godly, I'll say that.
Jackson Claude
No. Like, next one, if they did one more, like, someone was going, like, to get Naked.
Liz
What's crazy about this show too, is do you. You've watched before. So you know about the Heart Rate Challenge? Yeah, I love that challenge, and it is so over the top sexual. But, like, I think it's. It's good because it's like, it's contained and we all look forward to it and because it. It doesn't happen so much throughout the course of the show.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
So when there's the Heart Rate Challenge, you're like, oh, my God. Everyone's, like, making out with each other. Who, like, like, gets. And. And this, like, this whole season takes the sting out of something like that. Because every challenge is beyond more sexual than anything I've ever seen. And now I know people say that, like on Love Island UK and seasons past, it was so raunchy. It was so crazy. They were smoking, they were drinking.
Jackson Claude
I couldn't see Molly and Tommy doing any of this.
Liz
Well, that is. I think the first two seasons of Love Island UK were crazy from what I hear. I didn't watch by season five, it wasn't so crazy anymore. And I think that's actually one of the reasons it's been such a popular season. Not just because of Molly and Tommy, but because they were able to, like, really drama without all that crap. And this is like the other side of the. Of the spectrum where it's like, okay, we. I understand it's a sexual show. That's fine with me. Like, I sign up for watching that. They come in in their bikinis and their heels, but it's like, you're. It's. It's just too much. Yeah, too much. And Claudia saying that she was, like, embarrassed to watch it with Ben. I can't watch it with Chris.
Jackson Claude
It's.
Liz
It's embarrassing.
Jackson Claude
Like.
Liz
Yeah, it's too much.
Jackson Claude
No, it is too much. It's beyond the pill. They come in in bikinis and heels, but the bikinis have gotten smaller now. No one is wearing, like, a bottom that everyone's wearing thongs. Like, soon they will be naked.
Liz
Yeah, it's just.
Jackson Claude
It's a lot. And I agree, the Heart Rate challenge is pointless at this point. Like, nothing that they've done could be crazier. Nothing that they could do could be crazier than the things that they've done.
Liz
Did you talk about the twerking challenge on this show?
Jackson Claude
No, I don't think so.
Liz
Because I know that this is going to go against everything I just said, but I was, like, kind of obsessed with it.
Jackson Claude
It was fun.
Liz
It was fun and it Was dancing.
Jackson Claude
It was dancing. It was. It was singular. No one was actually touching each other, so it was just like, who's the best dancer? And, like, yeah, some things, like, got, like, sexual, but, like, it was, like, you know, teetering on, and then it comes back, and then. Then Austin comes, and he's just being silly. And it was like, combination of silly, sexy, fun. Like, that's what it should be.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
There's not a lot of silliness. There's not a lot of fun. It's just. And the fact that these couples do not kiss or make out or get intimate really during the day. Some do at night, but most of them just turn and face the wall and put on their eye mask. And then when the challenge comes, they're all porn stars is so crazy to me.
Liz
It's disorienting. That's. That's true.
Jackson Claude
Like, you never kiss the person that you're interested in, but you do have dry sex with the entire house.
Liz
I don't think that's three days. I don't think they're that interested in. I don't think there's that many people that are that interested in each other, or else they would be kissing.
Jackson Claude
I agree. That's also a problem with the show is, like, that makes people, you know, disloyal because it's like, I don't care. Okay, who's here? Cool. Bye. But we need some solid couples. Like, it is Love Island. There's not a lot. A lot of love. And so, like, the only people who I think truly like someone are Sierra liking Nick. I think Nick likes Sierra.
Liz
I think so, too.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Not as much as she likes him, clearly. That's come up now multiple times. I think Alandria liked Taylor, but even her version of liking someone does not mean, like, we're going to be making out all the time. And I. And I appreciate that and I truly respect it. But, like, you know, a kiss, when they kiss, it's like the biggest deal. And it's just a peck on the lip, lips. Like, it's even. I'm like, what?
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Other people who like each other.
Liz
Well, now everyone's separate from their original.
Jackson Claude
But I also feel like everyone in casa more like the girls are kind of saying, like, huda, what's going on with Huda? Like, she's. This is supposed to be her time to shine. Where's the connection?
Liz
I guess people are tired of her. Who's she with Jade? She dating?
Jackson Claude
But, like, they don't show us, like, what's going on There they had that.
Liz
One conversation about her asking him how he feels about kids, and he said, it doesn't matter which. To me, like, that's not what you should be saying.
Jackson Claude
But I also don't like how they came to Casa and they had to get coupled up in Casa because, like, hood. Someone who's single, like Hooda should be able to explore every single guy without stepping on toes. Chris doesn't belong to Shelley. Like, T. I don't know the name Zach doesn't belong to. I, like, everyone should be talking to everyone. I don't like that they coupled up because it feels like you either have to make it work with the person you're coupled up with, which is completely based on what looks, or you're stepping on toes. Like, if. If someone wanted to go talk to Chris, like, that would be weird.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
Even though Shelly has a boyfriend back at the house, and Chris is completely fair game. So I'm not liking the format. I'm not really liking any of it. I feel like producers are very. And the thing about the show. Are there cameramen in the villa or it's all drones and stationary cameras?
Liz
I think there might be cameras when they do recouplings, because I don't. Something about that gives. Like, they're. They're revolving around them. But generally, I think it's just. You see, it's tv.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Yeah. Which I think is really good. You get everything on camera. They are able to feel like their natural selves. There's not a camera in their face. But then where are the producers?
Liz
Like, so they often have meals off camera.
Jackson Claude
Right.
Liz
And I think that's when they just saw a real.
Jackson Claude
This morning that was like, fun facts about Love Island. I was like, the islanders are only allowed to cook themselves one meal. It's usually breakfast. Which, by the way, this whole breakfast thing has become insanely stupid.
Liz
A little silly.
Jackson Claude
Right? Like, it's like this whole production, it's like. And it means so much. It's like. And everyone thinks they're, like, crushing it.
Liz
Last season, there was a great scene where there was a couple who were on fritz after Casa Amor. Do you know this?
Jackson Claude
I've been seeing it.
Liz
Serena, she threw her eggs. Threw her eggs. And I remember everyone was like, yes. And I thought that was, like, a little much, but. But, yeah, that was a big breakfast.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. They're, like, making the most out of breakfast. And it's like, you guys don't even know each other. And it's like, oh, but I have to make the breakfast. And Then the other two meals are provided. They're brought in by production, and they, like, they eat off camera.
Liz
I think that's when they do talk to the producers. But I don't know how much the producers are telling them about, like, the outside world or what they think they should be doing. I don't know.
Jackson Claude
I'm starting to feel like they're telling them a lot.
Liz
A lot. I also. The confessionals, I often get the sense that the producers are saying, okay, say it this way, because sometimes they come off way more articulate in their confessionals than they do in their conversations, which could just be human. Like, sometimes when you're just talking to camera, you have more time to think about what you want to say. But sometimes I'm like, you don't sound the same as when you're talking to.
Jackson Claude
That guy, for sure. And producers are definitely asking questions in there.
Liz
Like, that's true.
Jackson Claude
Direct questions. They want to know answer. And that's good. That's, like, good television production. I'm fine with that. But it does feel like Nick is a production plan at this point, and I'm open to all of it having been true. And he was like, wait, they like that? I like her and, like. But I'm also open to. He's like, let's make a show. Yeah, let's make great television. So I'm skeptical, and I think that's fair. Last night's episode was fine because, like, nothing stupid happened. You know, no one got sent home prematurely, so I don't feel any rage today.
Liz
And it was also an out, which was key, as opposed to an hour and a half. Humane.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. That's good. I look forward to the houses coming back together, even though, like, there's 50 people. There's 50 people. So what's the core drama that Sierra, Nick, and Alondra.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Who is Shelly gonna choose? The. The. Seeing those two next to each other is gonna be crazy.
Liz
Chris and Ace, did you catch him talking about it last night? I don't remember when it came up, but. But they were talking about how someone in the in Casa was like, 6 foot 7, and Ace was like, I don't care.
Jackson Claude
No. Alandria told Nick that Shelly's talking to a guy who's 6 foot 7.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
Nick told Ace, shelly's talking to a guy who's 6 foot 7, and Ace was like, I don't care. And the boys are like, yeah, Ace doesn't care. I'm sorry. Like, there's no way that. That. That he doesn't Care that he doesn't care. And that, like, when you see that in real life, that it's not going to be stark. How tall do you think Ace is?
Liz
5, 8?
Jackson Claude
5. So a foot different difference.
Liz
Why? The guy's 6, 7.
Jackson Claude
He's 6, 7.
Liz
Six seven is a crazy height. That's really tall.
Jackson Claude
Like, it's not just like, he's a taller. Ace is a shorter guy. He is extremely tall. And compared to the other guys on the show, Ace is short.
Liz
Right. The. The memes will kind of go crazy.
Jackson Claude
The memes will go crazy. I think they, like, they literally are laughing to themselves in the production room.
Liz
And it's unfortunate that Ace has sort of, like, people have turned on him and don't like him, because I don't think. Think any people would make as big of a deal of it as they would if he weren't like, he was. He's acting short. Like, his. His personality is short. He's. He's being like he has a Napoleon complex. I think so.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Even though, like, Napoleon accomplished greatness and, like, it's. I don't know. I think that term, like, is an entire misnomer. Yeah. It's not entirely accurate. Accurate. And where I stand with Ace right now, like, I don't hate him as much as everyone.
Liz
Me neither.
Jackson Claude
I had a moment where I did dislike him, and. And I still don't understand why he chose Amaya at that recoupling. And, like, if I ever talk to anyone from Love island, like, that's the only thing. Well, of course. Why'd you vote the way you did? Who was leading the discussions? Of course. Like, we're getting down to the. Why did Amaya. Ace choose Amaya at that second recovery.
Liz
He was trying to play hard to get, I think, with Shelly. He was still in the triangle with Shelly and Austin. Although then you have the question of whether they're, like, manipulating all of this for the viewers. If they weren't. I think he. He wanted to show Shelly, like, okay, like, you do your thing, I'll do mine. And then.
Jackson Claude
But, like, but. But Shelly didn't do anything to make him feel like, okay, you do that. Like, you know, she was really down for him. And if it wasn't for Ulissa, they would have been the couple.
Liz
I forgot about that.
Jackson Claude
I saw a tweet that was like, all of this is you fault.
Liz
I for. She was in a couple with Ace, and then Ace was single.
Jackson Claude
Shelly was in a couple with Ace. She chose Ace at the first podium, but Ulissa went next and she was able to knock Shelly off. And that put Shelly with Austin and Ulissa with Ace.
Liz
Okay. Yeah. So they had to.
Jackson Claude
They would have been the couple, like, from the jump.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
If not for Ulissa.
Liz
I have no memory of who was originally a couple. Like, that stuff leaves my memory so fast.
Jackson Claude
And when someone was like, well, Alondra Nick did. She did go and kiss him at the first. Oh. And then when they're like. Like, Ace hates Jeremiah because Jeremiah gave someone his Ulyssa. His cheek. Jeremiah coupled up with Huda early in the first couple. And he liked Huda, apparently. So when another girl came to kiss him on his podium, he gave his cheek, which made him look really good and made Huda be like, oh, okay. Like, locked in, love bombing. And then the other girl that you and that was Ulissa, the other guy that you listen to so had kissed was Ace. She kissed Ace first. He was coupled up with Shelly. Ace went in for the kiss. Great. Then she gets nothing from Jeremiah. So one, it makes Ace look bad. Like, oh, we could have done that. We could have just stood by the girl if we like the one and we're happy with him. And it's like, so of course Ulysses gonna choose Ace because Jeremiah just said no.
Liz
Right.
Jackson Claude
So that's what people think is Ace's villain origin story, in addition to having a crush on Huda to begin with, which I don't think is true. Unless, like, I don't know, maybe the shorty wants a shorty.
Liz
Yeah. And also eliminating Jeremiah in as people think he just. He was jealous and wanted. Wanted him out.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Yeah. But, like, why does Ace hate Jeremiah so much? Like what? Like, because he does hate him, and he was so fixated on him for, like, the. The few days that he was there. Why people think it's the Ulyssa thing that he. Like that.
Liz
I don't think so.
Jackson Claude
What do you think?
Liz
I think that he saw that Jeremiah was getting, like, a lot of the attention, and he wanted the attention or he wanted Huda.
Jackson Claude
I don't think it says. I agree with attention. I don't think it said he wanted Hoda. But I could be wrong. I think that you listen is making sense. Like, he made him look bad. He made him look bad, and it, like, forced us to choose Ace and break up Ace's couple with his already existing girlfriend. Happy Valentine's Day, Shelley.
Liz
I see. Okay.
Jackson Claude
That's what I think.
Liz
Okay.
Jackson Claude
Another episode tonight.
Liz
Friday. Yes.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. They said. And they showed us Casa's coming back. Yes. So we'll See?
Liz
We'll see.
Jackson Claude
Now it is time for Dear Toasters. You guys, we did it. We certainly have time for Dear Toasters. I'm going to do two deer toasters with Sliz.
Liz
Ready?
Jackson Claude
Because we did one with Craig, so we're breaking it up. Okay, here we go.
Liz
I really have to listen. Like, when I'm listening on the podcast, I'm like, I didn't hear that person.
Jackson Claude
Said, no, I do that. Same with Claudia. Back it up. Like, I'm still talking about you, Lissa. Dear Toasters, please help. I'm married to an actual Pete job, but I have consistent dreams about leaving him for a guy I dated years ago ago. To be honest, I've always wondered what would happen if I ended up with that guy. But having these dreams is making me feel such guilt, I want to cry. I love my husband because he's so loyal, honest, a great father to our daughter. I almost want to tell one of my girlfriends to get this off my chest, but I feel like it's such a weird thing. What do I do?
Liz
I don't think you have to feel guilty at all. I think it's sweet that you do, but, like, you told your girlfriends us, and so it's like, it's. I think that this probably happens to a lot of people, and I don't think it means that you don't like your husband. I think it's just, like, your dreams hold on to things in a weird way, and if you have some fixation about this, like, old love, I think that's probably pretty common, honestly.
Jackson Claude
Probably common. I think, like, your mind's playing tricks on you, and I don't know how you can, like, change the things that you dream about. But, like, I find whatever I'm watching or I'm reading like that, like, last night, I was dreaming about. Oh, I was packing. So I was dreaming about suitcases, and every time I flipped over, I'm like, the suitcase, the suitcase. Not saying to pack to go somewhere, but, like, if you get into, like, a really intense show or something or even, like, Love island, that just, like, sort of starts, and then you start to think about that. When you dream, do you find.
Liz
Yes. Also, if you like. Yeah. Like, if you read romance novels and you think, oh, life is supposed to be that way with a partner or whatever, with your. With your husband. It's not like marriages can get stale. So if there's something actionable you want to do, you don't have to. But if you, like, want to to try to avoid these dreams, I would Maybe say, like, go on a trip with your husband. I don't know. Try and shake it up. Shake it up. Because if you're feeling like maybe that's stale and you feel bad. Bad, you're not doing anything wrong. You can't control your dreams.
Jackson Claude
You can't control your dreams. And I would just say, like, do not make any decisions based on your dreams. Your dreams should not guide you to do anything.
Liz
No, I completely agree.
Jackson Claude
Right. Just like a romance, almost a fantasy book. Like, that's not like, oh, well, now I have to change my life and move to a small town. Right. To find love.
Liz
Yeah. You seem thoughtful, and it's good that you're. You're, you know, thinking about it, but, you know, I don't think think this is meaningful at all.
Jackson Claude
I agree. And we got to shake up the dream, shake up the subconscious. Yeah, they're definitely just messing with you.
Liz
Spice things up with your. With your husband.
Jackson Claude
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Hi, girlies. I have a pretty short deer toasters, but I'm sincerely conflicted. One of my best friends has been dating a loser for the past two years where she is totally out of his league in every way possible. She's expressed her doubts in the past, but ever since he moved for her, she's pretended everything is perfect. We recently found out that every one of her friends from all different friend groups has the same stance. That he's a total weirdo, lazy, inconsiderate, ugly ago. And that they should break up. Do we, as friends, tell her that everyone hates her boyfriend, or is that just totally not our place? Also, we are mid-20s, so this could be looking at marriage soon.
Liz
You don't say anything?
Jackson Claude
No.
Liz
My opinion.
Jackson Claude
Not unless she asks you again. Like she asked you, like, back in the day before you moved. She would complain about him. Like, she would talk about, like, conversation was open. Right now conversation is closed. I would not bring it up. And. Okay, I don't. I literally don't care if every single one of her friends, your friends, doesn't like him and you don't like him. You're not dating him, first of all. So it literally doesn't matter what you think now you. He might objectively, like, just be a bad guy and she shouldn't be with him. But that might not be the case. He might just not be for you or for them. Coincidentally, not for anyone around you guys. But, like, she's your friend. You trust her. Yeah. She has free will. Like, this is what she's chosen. No one's making her do this. You didn't say anything. That is a complete red flag. Weirdo ago.
Liz
Lazy. Those adjectives, like, are not.
Jackson Claude
I'm judging you for calling someone weird. Like, what. Who makes you the arbiter of cool, Right? Uggo. Excuse me, we don't call people ugly.
Liz
Like, it's not nice.
Jackson Claude
No. And it's, like, irrelevant.
Liz
He can't control it.
Jackson Claude
Imagine saying, I don't like your boyfriend because he's ugly.
Liz
Now It's.
Jackson Claude
Are you 12?
Liz
And the. The lazy thing, like, it's sort of irrelevant now. I mean, I don't know if they. If they have kids one day and he's lazy, he's not helping. Even then, I don't think you should say anything. But for right now, it's like, who cares? Like, what are they doing?
Jackson Claude
No. And it's like, that's her problem.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
So what, you're worried, like, I don't know, this gives a little bit. Like, focus on yourself. Mind your own business.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Inconsiderate. I do feel like if it's in consideration with such an issue, you would have shared an anecdote. And I'm not getting any. Like, I'm not.
Liz
Well, maybe they wanted to keep it short.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. But it's not. It's pretty much average length. It's like, you know, a nice paragraph. So I feel like you guys are being a little judgmental, and sometimes, like, I think mid-20s are an interesting time because, like, some people are getting serious, some people are not. Some people are, like, waiting for the perfect person. Some people are realizing that's not. Not a real thing, and we're going to have a make it work moment. Yeah.
Liz
And you also have to think this through. I think a lot of people don't. My advice is usually never say anything unless there's, like, legitimate abuse or something serious. But, like, what if you say something and then these people get married? And then, like, you always know that you said to your friend, like, your husband's lazy and ugly, and then.
Jackson Claude
No. And like, I think you going with those criticisms are not real strong criticisms to actually bring to a friend. Like, if there were other things that were more serious, and we've seen ones where it's like, I know he cheated on. On you. Then it's like, do you tell? Do you say? And I. I do think that you do. This is not that. This is your opinion. Nobody asked. If she does ask, you're welcome to share it if you want to ruin your friendship potentially. But unless she asks you, don't shut your Mouth.
Liz
Yeah. And I, I also, I think it's a little bit not to like totally just shit on this writer.
Jackson Claude
But like, it's hard not to sometimes.
Liz
It'S hard not to. Like, you don't like going around and talking to all of this girl's friends who I imagine you're probably not friends with all of those.
Jackson Claude
Like, how did you guys all like get it together without her? I don't come to the conclusion I.
Liz
Don'T care for that. I, I, I think it's fine to have your opinions and you know, girls talk and maybe you talk with your mutual friends about it and say, you know, I don't really get along with that guy. But that's not what you said. So I, I, I, I challenge you to be a little bit more optimistic maybe.
Jackson Claude
And I think this is part of growing up is like realizing that not everyone's going to choose a partner that you would choose for them or that you would choose for yourself and just nodding your head. You're maybe we're not all going to be like best friends, double date all the time. That's not in your future. Like relationships change. It's, that's a sad one to swallow, especially mid-20s. I think not everyone in the group is on that page.
Liz
I think there's also, I'm not saying that this was where this person was coming from, but there can always be jealousy. Like I think at this age where a lot of people start to couple up or like, you know, find long term partners and other people aren't and it's really hard. And so sometimes you just like your worst self sort of gets in the way of clear thinking. So I don't know.
Jackson Claude
I agree. You know what? We're going to do a third one because I do have a third one. I think it's a good one and I feel like we have time.
Liz
Okay.
Jackson Claude
Dear swirlies, long time toaster, first time submission. I love you both so much. I've been married for 10 years and we have three beautiful children. I just found out that he has been talking and sexting with a woman. With women on a website for extramarital affairs. You know the 1:00am Ashley Madison.
Liz
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Who even knew that was still a thing? Yeah, not me. I thought I shut down. Well, it is. He said he hasn't had sex with anyone and has never met with these women in person. One of the women's husbands reached out to me and told me everything and that's how I found out.
Jackie
Out.
Jackson Claude
My husband said it was true love. A Confused and mad toaster.
Liz
This is really hard.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
Because I tend to side with you. When you, when you think about a marriage and children that you don't want. Divorce, like, divorce can be so messy. It's so hard on kids. But it's also like, I don't know, how do you, how do you trust him? And he, he didn't independently tell her he didn't feel guilty and say, by the way, like, I, I have to get this off my chest. I'm I guess glad that he admitted it.
Jackson Claude
He at least came clean. You didn't have to keep digging, find proof, show it in his face, face.
Liz
And I also like, I don't really believe that he didn't meet up with this person. Like what, what would have stopped him from, from doing that? Maybe, I don't know.
Jackson Claude
I don't know. When I did watch Ashley Madison documentary, I just want to say like that was a thing like, of just men talking to women, sexting and not actually getting together with them. It also turned out that a lot of the women profiles on Ashley Madison were bots. It was actually Ashley Madison just like keeping these men engaged. I don't know how much of that there was the documentary kind of lost me with that because it's like, well, what if they wanted to get together and then it's a bot. Like how much of this was. I think maybe that happened a little bit where they were like creating profiles to keep men engaged. But I think there were also like real live women. But I, there was a couple people where it was like some people had affairs. Yes. Other people just used it for like talking and never got to that next level. Yeah.
Liz
I think it's such a, like, I imagine that even if you work full time, you are like the number one primary caregiver of the children. I feel like that's often how it is is for mothers. Even when, you know, you think like it just, it breaks my heart when there's like you're married 10 years, you have three children and like this is what your husband's doing. I understand that like sometimes maybe men feel lonely or I don't know what it is that that causes them to do that. But I would say I guess you should probably try to work on it. Whether that's therapy or a rabbi. I don't know, like just talk, talk to somebody. Because I do think a 10 year long relationship is worth working on.
Jackson Claude
I agree. Worth the effort. The three kids is worth it. I think there are, are ways like there are instances where people can change and, like, be rehabilitated from something like this. Even one of the couples on the Ashley Madison documentary was, like, really bad. They were a family channel, and he was like, I think. I don't even know if he met up with women. I think that he did, but it was, like, serial cheating. And they wound up working through it and staying together, and they're in the documentary together. And it was actually a really nice ending. So I'm hoping for that for you. But I think it will require, like, a lot of work on him alone, on you guys together, like, to build back the trust was one thing, but we got to get him to stop doing it in the first place, you know, before he. It's not like he needs to change as a person, and then you need to be able to trust who he. His new self is. So, like, yeah, therapy consulting with someone, a leader in your community, like, someone that you trust, like, really working through it. But I think it's worth the effort.
Liz
So do I.
Jackson Claude
And I think forgiveness, like, can be found, but it has to be earned.
Liz
Agree.
Jackson Claude
In a major way.
Liz
Agreed.
Jackson Claude
And I'm sorry.
Liz
I'm sorry.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Liz
Yeah. It's, like, never fun when you get those. It sounds hard.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, it does. Definitely. I did not know Ashley Madison was still around doing its Ashley Madison thing.
Liz
Me neither.
Jackson Claude
Well, shifting to a more positive note, we are ending this episode of Jackson Friends with Ms. Lizard P. Thank you so much for coming down here, for doing two wonderful shows with me. I hope that you had a nice time.
Liz
I had such a good time. It was so fun to just have, like, a girly girl chitchat that hopefully people enjoy. And you've done an amazing job, by the way. Like, I know, like, people forget. I forget that you're pregnant. Like, you were pregnant. You have two toddlers. You. Did you share that you had your surgery?
Jackson Claude
I. I shared it on Patreon, and then I said here I had a procedure. But, yes, I had my circlage, my preventative stitch put in.
Liz
It's been a really busy month for you, and I think you've picked amazing people, and you are so engaged with all the people that come in, like, even when they're talking about things that you might not normally talk about. I just notice how you always. You just. You're such a good interviewer and host, so you should feel very proud. I know that Claudia is probably really proud of you too, and she'll say as much when you guys do your episode together. But, like, everybody should give Jackie her flowers because it's been wonderful.
Jackson Claude
Thank you so much. You make it so easy. You're welcome back anytime. Highly qualified. I give you five booms.
Liz
Oh, yay. Oh, yeah.
Jackson Claude
And I've had so much fun doing this. Thank you to all the co hosts who have come through. It has been really fun, and I know that Claudia has appreciated you and everyone else who has stepped up in her stead. So we'll see you on Monday. Jackie
I can't wait for this. It's so awesome. I'm here on the toast. I mean look at this place. This place is a big boom.
Jackson Claude
I completely agree. It's such a boom. How are you doing?
Jackie
Awesome.
Jackson Claude
How's the Costco guy?
Jackie
It's great. I mean we have new adventures every day. We get to make people happy all the time. I mean that's the best part about all this, Jackie. The best part about all this is when we see people and we see how happy we're able to make them and their faces light up and we get to take pictures and videos with people. I mean it's such a gift. It's the coolest thing ever.
Jackson Claude
It's so cool. Everyone loves you guys. I had the pleasure of meeting you in the wild. About a year ago at Costco. My husband went to Costco that morning, and he was flipping. He was like, oh, my God. The Costco guys were there doing, like, their videos. And it actually, you guys inspired us. Because then I was like, we had been meaning to do a Costco vlog for, like, months, and we just didn't do it. But then we were like, oh, they were filming. Oh, you know what? We should do that Costco vlog today. Like, okay, so we go back to Costco, and my sister and her husband came too, and they love you guys. And you were still there filming. We didn't expect that. We didn't go to, like, you know, stalk you. But that's what wound up happening. And we got to meet you and your son, of course, Big justice icon. And your wife and your whole family. It's a family business.
Jackie
Big justice, actually. Yeah, we're all involved now.
Jackson Claude
Do you love working with family?
Jackie
Oh, how could you not?
Jackson Claude
I don't.
Jackie
It wouldn't work if we didn't do this as a family.
Jackson Claude
I agree.
Jackie
It wouldn't work. We all have to be together. We have to work together. Everyone has an equal part, and it's great to be a family out there, especially. Especially during traveling, because I would never travel and leave them home. Yeah, I just couldn't do that. So that's the big part about it. So, I mean, we just got back from VidCon, we got back from Kids Choice Awards, and we did it as a family. And it's a lot better that way. It's a lot more wholesome that way. And I feel safe that way.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, it's good for your kids, and it's good for you guys to be able to be with your kids. How's Big Justice? I'm assuming he's in school today. I'm hoping he's in school.
Jackie
We're June, so school's done. He finished school.
Jackson Claude
You're right.
Jackie
Yeah, he finished school at the end of May. So Big justice did very well in school.
Jackson Claude
Okay.
Jackie
Yeah, he did very well. He had a private tutor this year.
Jackson Claude
Go off Big Justice. We were.
Jackie
We were traveling a lot.
Jackson Claude
Subjects.
Jackie
He loves cakes. I'm bringing you in on this one. He loves math.
Jackson Claude
He loves math.
Jackie
I gotta bring Mama justice in on this one. He loves math.
Jackson Claude
He counts every dollar. That's good. That helps for the work.
Jackie
He's running his own Pokemon business.
Jackson Claude
Go off.
Jackie
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
So what's he up to? Enjoying summer break?
Jackie
He's enjoying summer break. He's probably at a card shop today. He's in the middle of all star baseball. So we won our first game Monday. We played one inning. Last night got rained out, so you got to go back and finish it today.
Jackson Claude
Wow. Good times. Well, I'm so glad that you were able to come here, because the way that this came about was I'm doing guest co host this month.
Jackie
Awesome.
Jackson Claude
My sister's on maternity leave, so I. Congratulations. I had to reach out to all the icons of South Florida, and I was like, we have to get the Costco guys on.
Jackie
That's so cool. So I'm an icon of South Florida. That. Thank you so much. That is awesome.
Jackson Claude
Like, we've had a lot of really exciting people on this show. Like, I think people are going to really flip that you're here, and I want to get to know AJ and the Costco guy. Like, we've never seen them before. Because you were saying you've never done, like, a format like this, like a girly swirly podcast.
Jackie
Right? This is about as girly and swirly as I've gotten. Yeah, no doubt.
Jackson Claude
So we're going to, like, see how girly you really are.
Jackie
Oh, here we go.
Jackson Claude
No, we just, like, want to get to know you. How's being a Costco guy the last year? So, like, not that I had anything to do with it, but coincidentally, right after we met you guys, like, oh, my God, things popped off like, you guys were everywhere. The late night shows, every, like, video, every creator. You're all over. You're taking over. Costco guys, takeover. How has the last year been?
Jackie
I think it has a lot to do with how we make people happy. The positivity. We bring the happiness. We bring the boom. Of course, it's all about the boom. And the boom is the happiness and the positivity. And from that very first Costco guy video, I thought we had something that nobody else had because we grew up watching a lot of father and son channels. That's what Big justice loved watching. And we watched a lot. And I always saw a lot on those channels. I saw that it looked as if, like, the father was the main character and the son kind of had ideas and maybe want to talk. And the father kind of brushed the son off a little bit. And I would be sitting there watching, and I would say, no, wait, I want to hear what this kid has to say. Say. So that's why part of the vision of our channel was, no, no, no, Big Justice. We're going to take the lead, and I was going to be the father behind him, supporting him every step of the way. And as crazy as it sounds out there, letting him know, yeah, run crazy throughout Costco. Go ahead, shout boom and doom in a restaurant. I'm right here. I got you covered. Don't worry about it. We're going to go do our thing.
Jackson Claude
What is your relationship like to Costco now? Have Costco corporate ever reached out?
Jackie
Yeah, we're in touch with Costco and Free Costco.
Jackson Claude
Like, I would hope so.
Jackie
No, I'm not too worried about free. I'm happy to support Costco, but. So we're partners with about 20, maybe 25 brands within Costco.
Jackson Claude
That makes sense because they have, like, the brands. And so you go and you spotlight certain brands, you give them the boom.
Jackie
That's right.
Jackson Claude
And Costco has been, like, friendly towards you guys in terms of, like, filming in the stores, and they don't get.
Jackie
I mean, Costco calls us the Costco guys, so I don't know how much more friendly we could get. That's when Costco's been awesome.
Jackson Claude
That's so great. So how often do you go to a Costco now?
Jackie
Probably about every 10 days right now.
Jackson Claude
That's. What are you feeling like? What's the best product at Costco right now?
Jackie
The double chunk chocolate cookie. Always the wagyu stuff steak. The wagyu steak is always very, very good. I like the New York strip. New York strip is my cut. I like New York strip. Okay, so the New York strip wagyu cut, you get great wagyu steak for great prices. So a family could afford to enjoy some wagyu at Costco. The seasonal stuff is great right now. So you'll be able to get out there right now with summer here and get some slides and stuff for the kids and maybe get some patio furniture, some picnic tables, things like that, coolers, things you need for the boat and all that. So it's really a great time in the summer here at Costco.
Jackson Claude
It is a great time. And this. I need to go to this. Make me want to go to Costco. Maybe I'll make a stop on my way home. Every time I see you guys, like, in the wild or on my screen, I'm like, I need to go to Costco. It's where it all goes down at Costco.
Jackie
It goes down at Costco. I mean, it's a great place. I mean, I think Costco has the perfect blend of quality and price. I think that's what it really is. I mean, you get quantities you can't get anywhere else. They come at a great price. They're a great quality, and that's the Costco wins.
Jackson Claude
So when you guys were starting out your channel and, like, thinking about what you wanted to do and how you wanted to do it, like, what was the reasoning behind going, like, full Costco and not just like the. The store guys and, like, going to different places? Like, what was the vision behind Costco guys?
Jackie
Costco guys happened. It really, really happened. It wasn't quite the vision that the channel was going to be Costco centralized or anything like that. So one day we were watching that trend happen that was kind of like, we're husband and wife. He always steals the covers, or, you know, we're husband and I got to cook his steak and all that. So we said, let's do we're father and son.
Jackson Claude
Okay?
Jackie
So we did. We're father and son. He comes to all my baseball games or father and son. I work my biceps and triceps three days a week. So from there, it evolved. I said, you know what we do the Costco runs in our house. Because that was something we started doing because Mama justice had so much on her plate at the time. So we were saying, you know what we're gonna do? Costco. We got Costco. Don't worry about a thing. And we were having fun with it because we were going probably like Monday at 6 o' clock, 7 o' clock, the police was dead. We were running all over the place, the place, climbing things, having a great time. So from the Father son video, we evolved it to, let's just go in there and say, we're Costco guys.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. So of course we. Blah, blah, blah.
Jackie
Yeah, but we're Costco guys. Of course we eat the samples even though we buy the thing every time we're here. So it just so happened. Perfect timing. We get there and we see the big sign. You got to try our new Double Chunk Chocolate Cookie. But it's actually the Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie.
Jackson Claude
Oh. But have they officially changed the name yet?
Jackie
Because everybody now knows they haven't officially changed the name. So we still call it the Double Chunk Chocolate Cookie.
Jackson Claude
As you should.
Jackie
As we should. So I think that became one of the top memes in the world for about three months. So we were off to the races.
Jackson Claude
So, so good. It's been so good. It's been so fun to watch you guys. And you really work as a family. So your wife works in front of the camera with you and behind the camera, everything.
Jackie
Yeah, whatever. We're We're. Whatever it takes at this point. Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Your daughter, too. So, like, what's everybody's role in the operation? It's seems like Mama justice gets everyone on schedule where they need to be. She said that you don't wear a watch. She said you don't believe in time. Very Mariah Carey of you.
Jackie
Is that Mariah's thing?
Jackson Claude
She literally just gave an interview and said that she doesn't believe in the concept of time. Like, she will arrive when she arrives. She doesn't celebrate birthday, like, to such an extent that she doesn't celebrate her birthday. I can't see you not having a party for your birthday.
Jackie
Well, you know. You know how I feel, Jackie? I feel that, like, wherever I am at that point in time, time, I bring it.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
So even if I'm. Even if I'm a little late and it's not. It's like, I try to be late. I don't. I don't try to be late.
Jackson Claude
You guys were perfectly on time. I just want to say thank you. On time.
Jackie
Thank you so much. We really appreciate that. You know, parking's a little tight.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, yeah.
Jackie
No, but they blocked off the back parking lot, which is where I always used to park here.
Jackson Claude
Now I have to parallel park, and.
Jackie
I don't know how, but that's your. That's yours out there.
Jackson Claude
Oh, no. Everyone thought so. No, I have a Tesla. And thankfully, it parked itself because I couldn't have done it.
Jackie
All right, all right. So the Tesla parked itself. That's awesome.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. But they test me every time when the back parking lot's not open and I have to, like, into this spot, and I'm just, like, sweating. It's a lot. Are you a good driver?
Jackie
I think so.
Jackson Claude
I could see that.
Jackie
Yeah, I think. Yeah. I like. I like to get behind the wheel. By the way, you got to see the truck we're building. It'll be done in about a week.
Jackson Claude
What kind of truck are you building?
Jackie
It's the big boomobile.
Jackson Claude
Oh, my God. Wait, I need more details. What is the, like, original truck shape?
Jackie
The original truck is. It's. It's a Ford F1 150. Okay, so it's a Ford F150. We upgraded the motor. We are putting a suspension lift on it. We're putting oversized tires on it.
Jackson Claude
You guys should have been on Pimp My Ride.
Jackie
You got to go, instead of Pimp my. Instead of pimping my ride, it's Boom. My truck. That's what we're doing.
Jackson Claude
Wait. And then what's the plan for the truck?
Jackie
Yeah, yeah, it's going to be our driver. We're going to. We're going to drive around in it, have some fun and then see where it takes us. Make some content with it.
Jackson Claude
Are you going to like, drive it to pick up like Big justice from school?
Jackie
Yeah, that's our truck now.
Jackson Claude
Like, that's your new family car. No, I'm obsessed. I need to see a picture after this.
Jackie
All right. I have. I have some. I have some pictures of the process.
Jackson Claude
Right.
Jackie
It's almost on. We're about a week out.
Jackson Claude
Are you so excited?
Jackie
Of course.
Jackson Claude
How long has it been in ideation?
Jackie
Ideation was probably about two months in ideation and then we've been about a month on the build out. So it's been about a three month process.
Jackson Claude
Is Big justice going to get his permit?
Jackie
Ashley is. Big justice is only 12.
Jackson Claude
I don't know when people start driving. I got my license at 30, so I'm like, whenever I see a 12 year old, I'm like, they can probably drive and I can't.
Jackie
Big justice can drive though.
Jackson Claude
Of course he can. What can he do?
Jackie
I don't know. I haven't found anything the kid can't do. I haven't found anything the kid can't do.
Jackson Claude
So your wife is really like, what runs the machine and then so you get to just be you. And how do Ashley and Big justice, like, work together? What's the. Their co working relationship like?
Jackie
Big justice loves getting out there, making people happy. Comes up with great idea. The kid wakes up every morning with that. We got to do this.
Jackson Claude
He's a creator.
Jackie
He's a creator. He's. He's a creator. Loves the Pokemon right now. I mean, he's all over the place with Pokemon, with sports cards. He's really getting into sports cards. He loves that. Ashley is very, very passionate about the business. Ashley is. Ashley won't put anything out until it's perfect.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
Like Ashley's. Ashley's content goes through rounds and rounds of editing. Like she wants that thing perfect. Perfect to the point where I'm like, actually, this is good. You got to put it out now.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. The plight of being a perfectionist. Don't I know it.
Jackie
But she, she loves it. I mean, we were at. We were at VidCon. I mean, she took a thousand pictures. She was loving it, actually loves the life.
Jackson Claude
You guys were also just at the Kids Choice Awards.
Jackie
Choice Awards.
Jackson Claude
And apparently it's not fun.
Jackie
It is. It's really fun. It is.
Jackson Claude
Getting slimed after it happened.
Jackie
Like, when it happens, you're. You're happy it happened.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, it's iconic.
Jackie
It's iconic.
Jackson Claude
Rite of passage.
Jackie
It's a rite of passage. I'm so happy it happened. Happen. Now while you're sitting there and you got the slime all over, you're kind of thinking, all right, I'm in a suit. I'm slimed. I got no shower. What am I doing?
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
So you're starting to think that it. The. The slime dries in about a half hour and you feel fine.
Jackson Claude
Okay.
Jackie
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
And then you went to an after party.
Jackie
We go to the after party. Slime. Ashley's hair stuck to her head. I. I think we got the worst of it in that row. We got a pretty. We got a pretty strong blast of it.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
So.
Jackson Claude
But that's what you go to the kcas for. That's what they're all about.
Jackie
I mean, we. We came. We came to the after party. We said we got slimed. If you were, like, awesome, it was you. You did it.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. That is so fun. I need to ask you about the Rizzler. Oh, I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't ask about the Rizzler.
Jackie
That's our guy.
Jackson Claude
How do you know the Riz? Like, please. How did you meet the Rizzler?
Jackie
All right, so Rizzler's iconic video. The iconic Black Panther video. So one night, Big justice comes to me with the phone, and he's got TikTok on. He's like, dad, you got to see this kid. So I'm looking at this kid in a Black Panther costume. It says it fits you till you're seven. And I'm sending you while the kids busting out of the coffee costume. So I said, we got to meet these guys. We got to meet this kid. I gotta. I gotta reach out to the father. So I just message right there. I'm like, hey, it's AJ and Big Justice. We absolutely love your videos, love your content. We gotta meet up sometime. So, Uncle Sasta, Brian, Rizzler's father, he hits me right back. He's like, wow, is it really you guys? I'm like, yeah, let's get on FaceTime right now. So I would say within a few minutes of the video, we got Rizzler and his father on FaceTime. Me, big justice on FaceTime. It was just our first meeting. I'll never forget it. And we were just going back and forth. Wow. I can't Believe it's you. Wow. I can't believe it's you. So we're like, all right. We find out that they're up in New Jersey. And we says, okay, okay. We're coming to New Jersey for the summer. First thing we're doing is we're coming to see you. So we make an appointment. We meet at American Dream.
Jackson Claude
We love American Dream. Oh, my God. When we were in New York, we went twice. We spent the whole day there. Not enough people know about the American Dream. It's literally heaven on earth.
Jackie
People got to know more about American Dream. More about Mall of America. We recently went to Mall of America.
Jackson Claude
Bring back malls. Like, they're so awesome.
Jackie
Bring back malls, right?
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Like, especially the American. You can ski.
Jackie
You could ski mini golf.
Jackson Claude
It was crazy. My kids had the best time.
Jackie
Well, they have a great idea. American Dream. So they're bringing a ton of us creators in.
Jackson Claude
Oh, and they have Mr. Beast's burgers. Burgers. I had a Beast grilled cheese.
Jackie
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
I need a Costco guy double chunk chocolate cookie to wash it down.
Jackie
You know, we're kind of working on that. That It's. It's been in talks for a long time. And that's a real reason why we haven't launched our own cookie yet is because we really want to try to get the Costco deal done.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Oh, I mean, that would just be.
Jackie
Like so iconic if we could pull that off.
Jackson Claude
So you met the Rizzler at American.
Jackie
We meet the Rizzler at Toys R Us.
Jackson Claude
This story is an American Dream so far.
Jackie
It's an American dream story. So we meet the Rizzler at Toys R Us. I.
Jackson Claude
We meet the Rizzler. Toys R Us. I'm upset.
Jackie
Just listen to that. Now. This was before he was the Rizzler.
Jackson Claude
And to the end, they had the horses that you could go on around the. I guess.
Jackie
Yeah, I think we did that too. Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. It's more for like the little kids, but they're like these little, like life size horses that you could ride around the American dreams. So the place is insane, you guys. And then hit the slopes.
Jackie
There's so much to do. The place is enormous. You could be there for a week. You're not going to run out of things to do.
Jackson Claude
We took in an ice hockey game. It was like a women's ice hockey.
Jackie
Right in the middle.
Jackson Claude
A women's ice hockey game was going on. The kids loved it.
Jackie
Oh, it's so fun in that mall. So now we do our first video with the Rizzler.
Jackson Claude
Now, I think Toys R Us, it.
Jackie
Was at Toys R Us video explodes. I think it's at 20 million views. So now, we had just met them 10 minutes ago, right? And we're done doing the video. And we say, my sister's expecting us for dinner. She lives about a half hour from American Dream. I said, come on, you're coming with us. And we said, rizzler, come on, Big Justice. Rizzler, come on, jump in with us. So Rizzler now jumps in our car. We're driving away. I call Uncle Sebastian. Like, dude, I'm so sorry. Like, this all just happened. Like, I know you just met us a half hour ago. You got your kid here, but we're all good here. We're having a great time. He's like, no, no, no, man, I already feel like family. Let's go. So we arrive at my sister's house. And my sister, she, like, she compartmentalizes everything. Like, tonight is dinner with the family. Tomorrow night is shopping with whatever. So us bringing someone else to the house, like, there was a monkey wrench in her whole plans. Like, that's just her style. So I walk in the house, she's got chicken color, she's frying it, everything up. And she's like, who did you bring to my house? I'm like, no, no, Teresa, just wait. Just wait. Rizzler comes walking through the door. Her jaw drops, she goes, where did you find this kid?
Jackson Claude
I think that's the question everyone's been asking. Where did you find this kid? And it's at the American Dream Mall.
Jackie
It was at American Dream Mall.
Jackson Claude
And so you guys are just like fast friends. And you know when you meet. And like, Big justice and him are just like BFFs. People think he's related to you. I think Claudia and I have like, done deep dives on the show. Show. Like, what is the Rizzler relation to the Costco guys? And it's just like Internet friends turned real life friends turn family.
Jackie
Better than family now. And you got to walk by, like, Big Justice Room sometimes that night. So. And now the other kid, Tony Cash, is involved. Have you seen him yet?
Jackson Claude
I see a little bit, but I'm very slow. I'm like, like an old person. So, like, things reach me late. So don't.
Jackie
So Tony Cash is like the new 12 year old that could go somewhere between 12 and 57 years old. And so now I walk by Big Justice Room at night, right? And they're playing Fortnite. So now just imagine how conic this is. You got Big justice, you got the Rizzler. You got Tony Cash playing Fortnite. Right. And you got rizzler on. On FaceTime saying, no big Justice. Turn right. We gotta hide in the fort. And then you got Rizzler. And then you got Tony Cash and he's like, guys, we gotta climb to the top of the building and we gotta smash him with the, with, with the ogle pain and just nuts. And it's the three of them just bouncing off each other playing Fortnite.
Jackson Claude
No. And it's like they need a live stream up.
Jackie
Livestream will go nuts.
Jackson Claude
Yeah, yeah, for sure. You guys used to do a show. You actually used to do it in the studio.
Jackie
We did.
Jackson Claude
And I mean, you do a lot of live streams. How's that for you guys?
Jackie
That's the tough part for us because of our schedule. Because right now Big justice is playing baseball. So we never know if they win when we're going to have the next game. And then we're traveling like crazy. So, I mean, we just spent a week out in Los Angeles. Angeles. We have. We have New York coming up. We have Texas coming up. I'll be wrestling again.
Jackson Claude
Oh, fun.
Jackie
AEW for all elite wrestling. I am going to be Wrestling Again July 12th at AEW all in @ Globe Life in Arlington, Texas.
Jackson Claude
That sounds so fun.
Jackie
The streaming is tough for us because we don't have a schedule.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. So then you just like, make the videos and that. Like you can bank.
Jackie
Right.
Jackson Claude
Go in content mode. Understood. Well, what is self care look for, look like for the Costco guys? Like, how do you wind down? How. How do you, like, do you turn down at all? Like, turn off?
Jackie
No, not really turning on. Turning off makes me nervous.
Jackson Claude
Your wife's like, no, he doesn't.
Jackie
I hate turning off.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
I go until I, I go until I crash and I go to sleep and then I wake up the next morning and do it again.
Jackson Claude
What time do you wake up in the morning?
Jackie
I would say about five, maybe between five and six.
Jackson Claude
Yeah. Early riser.
Jackie
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
Understood. What were you doing before Costco? Guys, like, hit it big.
Jackie
Wow. It was crazy. So I was a regional manager for a nationwide mortgage. Mortgage lender.
Jackson Claude
Nice. So different speed.
Jackie
Different speed. You know, Always grinding. Yeah, always grinding. And that's, that's the interesting thing here, Jackie, is our story is not exactly a rags to riches story. I, I always grinded, I always provided for the family. We lived in Boca Raton. We always had a good life. This just allows us to really be More of who we are.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
I don't think as a regional manager for a nationwide mortgage on this. I'm very grateful for the career. I love the company I was with. I wasn't really myself. That's not really what I felt I was born to do.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
This right here, right now, content creation with my family, pro wrestling music. This. This is why. Making people happy. Yeah, making people happy. That's why I was put on this earth.
Jackson Claude
No, I love that it is the best feeling to, like, be doing what you love as yourself and with your family, which I. I couldn't endorse any further. We didn't get to talk about the music career. You guys dropped a song that was seriously, like a culture, cultural shift.
Jackie
Yeah.
Jackson Claude
What was that like? How did that come about?
Jackie
It was iconic. So how it came about is one day we're driving home from lunch, me and Big justice, and I grew up in the late 80s. Huge fan of Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. So we're playing Run DMC. It's tricky. And along the way, we're. He and I are just going back and forth freestyling, shouting out, boom and all that. And I said, I got an idea. We got to make a song.
Jackson Claude
Song.
Jackie
So I reached out to a few different Tick Tock musicians and I said, look, I have this idea for this song. Here's kind of the beat that I had in mind. And I had the beat of we bring the boom the whole time.
Jackson Claude
Okay.
Jackie
I was thinking the whole time, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb. I have it. Like, I have a video of me giving that beat. So a couple of Tick Tock musicians, they said, you know, I. I have so much lined up right now, so I'm not able to do that right now. And I said, well, we got to kind of move on this. I'll reach out to you for something else. But then I found RJ Payson, another Jersey guy, great guitar guy. And he had reached out to us and said, hey, you want to do a song together? So I was like, rj, this is the idea I have in mind. And I bring up RJ right now because RJ nailed it. Take one. He sent us We Bring the Boom. And by the way, Jackie, some of our other music, I think we may have gotten a little complicated with it. So I think our next song, we're really going back to basics.
Jackson Claude
There's an next song.
Jackie
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Jackson Claude
When's it coming?
Jackie
I'm gonna say around August 15.
Jackson Claude
Around August 15.
Jackie
Around August 15. And I'm gonna give you a little. A little Easter egg on this one. It is our first song that doesn't include the word boom in the title.
Jackson Claude
Oh, in the title. I'm like, how do you.
Jackie
Yeah, there's gonna be a boom in there. But it doesn't. It's our very first song that doesn't include the word boom in the title.
Jackson Claude
Oh, I wonder what it's called. Could you think. Could people, like, guess the title if they like. No, no, it's just. Okay.
Jackie
No, I'll give you another Easter egg on it. It's a song I probably wrote. I'm thinking right around the time Big justice was born, so probably around 2013, I wrote the song and found it. And the other day, like, I was thinking, I was like, wait a minute. I had that song. I go through Dropbox and I'm just, like, trying words. I'm trying searches. And I found it. And our jaws all dropped. We're like, we have to remake this song.
Jackson Claude
Oh, wow. So you've always been musical.
Jackie
Yeah, yeah, I've always loved music.
Jackson Claude
Oh, I love that. And now you're able to incorporate it.
Jackie
So real quick. So, rj, Payson Nails, we bring the boom on the first. First try. Okay, so now this is great. There's more to this. Mama justice is smiling right now. Okay, so here we go. We're on the toaster. We're about to get toasty here, right?
Jackson Claude
Let's do it. And musical. We're so. We love to sing. We'll do a live rendition.
Jackie
We're gonna do a live rendition. If we bring the boom.
Jackson Claude
I would love that.
Jackie
We bring the boom. That's what we do. We bring the boom. We bring the boom to you. So now it's a three Thursday, and Ashley was so into her middle school. President of the middle school, straight. Ashley's never gotten anything but an A in her entire school life.
Jackson Claude
Go Ashley Queen.
Jackie
Go Ashley. Ashley's never gotten anything but an A her whole school life. So she's now so excited that Big justice is now going to join her middle school. She's going up to high school. Big justice was supposed to go to the middle school. We get to the open house, nobody cared about the school. Big justice got bum rushed. So we get out of the car, it's him. Big. They got a cheer ready for him. They had a song ready for him, right? So now he gets there. They're taking a thousand pictures. So we meet with the principal. The principal says, I. I don't Know how to handle this. Like, I've had the child of a celebrity here before, but I've never had a celebrity here before.
Jackson Claude
Yeah.
Jackie
So right then and there, I say, all right, well, he's done with regular school. This isn't going to happen. Now, Ashley and Mama justice, it took them a little while to adjust to that. So we get home that night, we have a family meeting. Meeting. And Ashley is kind of saying, you know, but the last year of my life, I worked for this, and now we're not normal anymore. Now Big justice isn't going to go to school without. It's impossible. Our life has changed forever. So now everything calms down a little bit. Saturday morning. Now we're. Now we're on to Saturday morning, and I wake up, I'm like, all right, come on, we're going to the studio. And Mama Justice. What do you mean we're going to the studio? I'm like, hey, I got it all set up. Come on, we're going to the studio. So now Big justice and I have been preparing for this. So now we get into the studio. Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom. We bring the boom. That's what we do. We bring the boom. We bring the boom to you. And Mama Justice, Jaw drops. She was like, this is a hit. I didn't know we were going to the studio to do this. So now right away, Mama justice has lawyers on the phone. She's got management on the phone. She's got. She's calling everybody she knows in the music industry. Right. So now we record our parts. I'm like, all right, Ashley, Mama justice, it's your time in the booth. What are you talking about? We're going to. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go to the booth. So now, Ashley, from Thursday night with we're not normal anymore to Saturday in the booth, we bring the boom. That's what we do.
Jackson Claude
I love it. And then she got into it.
Jackie
Oh, she got. She never went back. She loved.
Jackson Claude
Maybe it's okay to not be normal anymore. This is the new normal.
Jackie
This is our new normal.
Jackson Claude
So then after that, like, after that weekend, like, Big justice couldn't go to regular school anymore now. Too big for middle school.
Jackie
Yeah. We have private tutoring now.
Jackson Claude
I understand. That makes sense. And that way you can be flexible and really enjoy everything that you've built.
Jackie
I mean, we're on the road 15 days a month right now. Yeah, yeah. It's. We're going to be. So we have. We just got back from la. Mama justice is loving the whole trip down memory lane over there. So, yeah, we just got back from la. In a couple weeks, we're heading out to Texas, and then right from there, we're heading up to New York.
Jackson Claude
Okay, great. Well, where can. I mean, everyone already follows you. But first, anyone living under a rock, where can everyone follow you? Keep up with the Costco guys here. Stream new music. August 15th, right in time for Charlie's birthday. I'm gonna play it at his party. Yeah. How many booms would you give the toast?
Jackie
Would you say five Big boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And make that last one.
Jackson Claude
Thank you so much. My life is made. Claudia's life is seriously gonna be made. I'm gonna send her that. Congratulations, Claudia and Ben. Congratulations, Claudia and Ben.
Jackie
What's the baby's name?
Jackson Claude
Ruby.
Jackie
Oh, Ruby. Congratulations.
Jackson Claude
Cute. Thank you for coming on the show. Thank you. Congratulations on everything that you guys have accomplished. We look forward to seeing everything that you do. Like, you really do bring so much positivity and joy, and it has just been wonderful to watch your ascent.
Jackie
Thank you so much. Means so much. Thanks, everyone. And to everyone out there on the toast, here's five big booms. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Jackson Claude
Love ya. Bye.
