Boone
hello.
Lyle Gecko
What's up man?
Boone
What's up?
Lyle Gecko
How's life?
Boone
Is this. It's good? Is this Lyle?
Lyle Gecko
This is Lyle. Is this Bone? Says your name. Says your name is Bone.
Boone
Boon.
Lyle Gecko
Boon.
Boone
B B O O N E. Is
Lyle Gecko
that your real name?
Boone
It is a real name.
Lyle Gecko
You know what? It's. I guess it's a real name because you're. You're real and you're named it. So that makes any. Any name that exists is a real name because if the. If that person who the name is exists, then their name is real.
Boone
Yeah. I didn't think I'd ever get on. I've been trying to call you for years.
Lyle Gecko
Well, Boone, what's up man? What'd you want to talk about today?
Boone
Well, I just stepped out and I lit this moon rock splunk. Now I'm gonna walk.
Lyle Gecko
What is a moon rock splunt?
Boone
So a moon rock splunt is like a blunt. It's flower that's then rolled in hash. Or like I guess it's called dabs. So you roll it in the hash and then you sprinkle it in Keith. And then you roll it in another another thing. It's pretty crazy.
Lyle Gecko
How often do you smoke a Moon Rocks blunt?
Boone
It's. It's been a long time since I had one of these. I think the last time I smoked one was I went to San Francisco with my girlfriend to go see her best friend.
Lyle Gecko
Oh, and you were like. You were like. You were like. Need to get extraordinarily high before seeing my girlfriend's best friend?
Boone
No. Well, we. We went to Aftershock, which is like a big music festival, and then we drove down to San Francisco from Sacramento, and I needed some weed in San Francisco, and all they had was like, boud rocks joints. And I was like, well, I guess I'll take this. And I feel like I have a pretty decent tolerance, so I. I just kind of get stoned. But we went to dinner with her friend and her. Her boyfriend. They were like, I think, like, freshly engaged, and he got so up. Like, we. We were drinking and hanging out and everything, having a good time. And then I was like, paul, you want to soak some of this Moon Rocks joint? He was just like, yeah, dude. He. He got so stoned that they had to leave. And eventually he, like, in a haze, got up and like, pissed on their floor. At. When he got back home, they tried to go to bed, and he. He woke up and pissed on the floor.
Lyle Gecko
Well, Boone, I mean, let's get into something, man. Can I help you with anything? I suppose.
Boone
I mean, I think the very first time I tried to talk to you was like four or five years ago. I think I texted the show. You came to Portland on a show? I think it was like two or three years ago to do one of your live shows. And I wanted to talk about my daughter living in a different state. State. It's. It's not as bad as it sounds, I guess, but it does suck.
Lyle Gecko
Interesting. Okay. How old's your daughter?
Boone
She's seven now, but her mom is in the military, and she was born in Germany overseas on a military base. It was like 2019 when she was born. And it was a shitty time, obviously, because of COVID They shut down the borders. And, you know, I flew out there for the birth, but this is kind of like right before lockdown happened, so I flew out there to go spend time with her, you know.
Lyle Gecko
So let me get this straight. Your pregnant wife was stationed in Germany while you were.
Boone
No, this is just my ex girlfriend. We weren't even. We weren't even together. We broke up before she had the baby.
Lyle Gecko
Oh, you broke up while you broke up while they were. While she Was pregnant?
Boone
No, I didn't even know she was pregnant. We broke up, and then I moved to Oregon, and then, like, five months later, she texted me and was like, hey, I'm pregnant. Because I. I went out there. I moved to Eugene originally, and when she was about to leave for Korea, I was like. I literally said the words, like, do you want to hook up before we, like, never see each other again? She was like, yeah, sure. So five months after that, we. She, like, messaged me and was like, hey, like, 100 pregnant, and I'm like, 99 sure it's yours. So I waited and stressed about it and flew all the way out to Germany to be there for the kid's birth. Even though all these, like, people in my family were like, you know, it couldn't be. You know, it might not be yours, or this could be a whole thing,
Lyle Gecko
or I don't even know, but definitely a whole thing. Why did you go, it's a whole thing? All right, so. So you guys had. You guys broke up and then you had, like, breakup sex, and then the breakup sex created a baby.
Boone
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
And why did you guys break up? Initially?
Boone
I mean, I was just young. This is, like, 2018. Ish. I was still living in Texas, and our relationship wasn't. It was okay. Like, we. We had a good time, but she was going into the military, she was going to be overseas, and we had a conversation one time about, like, basically, like, saying that she was kind of down to be open. You know, like, I'm going to be over here, you're going to be over here. You know, if you wanted to, like, kind of hook up with somebody, you know, that's. That might be cool. And I just wasn't really down for that. Like, I went to go see her after she finished, like, her basic skills training or whatever in San Antonio, and then. And then we just didn't really see each other very much. She had to, like, a. Like, a thing like mineral wells. And then. And then she was, like, gearing up to, like, get shipped out overseas. And I wasn't. I just wasn't really into, like, like, an open relationship. I wanted something more. More monogamous.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah, the. There's too much friction going on. How long were you. Yeah, we just together for before that?
Boone
Honestly, not that long. We. We were dating for, like, maybe, like, five or six months.
Lyle Gecko
So tell me about what it was like raising this kid or like, how much involvement have you had in this kid's life over the years? Like, how's that been going?
Boone
I Mean, I, it's, it's been going good. I mean, her mom and I have a good relationship as friends. She has never kept her from me. We've always like worked together to like spend time with her or like, she will go out of her way to like make sure that I can see her or like help out how she can for us to like get together. Like when I flew out there, I stayed with her and she, you know, in my head I was like thinking that maybe we would get back together. Like, we're gonna have this baby. And she was like, I had this boyfriend and from, from then on we just kind of like raised her separately. Like she, she was in Germany for a couple years and during COVID they shut down the borders so I couldn't go and physically see her. But we would FaceTime a lot. She would make herself available to FaceTime and see the baby and do that. And she flew out here and spent time with me and she flew back home to go spend time with like people in my family along with her family. And it just kind of, it just kind of like kind of kept going, you know, through this kind of FaceTime relationship. And then as it kind of progressed, she had like this like short term assignment that was coming up where she was going to be on this like isolated island like the middle of the Indian Ocean for like a year. And she offered to let, let her live with me and my girlfriend. And so we did that. We went from like, we went from you know, just like kind of an earlyish couple. My girlfriend and I at the time have been dating for like a year and, or like two years. And then we became full time parents. And that was, that was a big adjustment, but it was really great. You know, we spent time with her and built a relationship with her. And my daughter really loves my girlfriend and even the guy that she was dating, you know, when I had asked about like, I don't know, us starting a relationship again, her and that guy are married now. They have another kid and he's. Oh wow, he's great. And yeah, it's, it's kind of interesting when like people ask about it and it's this like kind of interesting dynamic. But everybody loves each other and
Sedona
we
Boone
all spend time together and we've like kind of vacationed together and we just have this.
Lyle Gecko
The whole family's vacationed together. Well, you and your girlfriend and daughter
Boone
and the, well, they will come, they'll come and spend time with us and they'll stay with us and then we'll go up there and we'll go spend time with them. They're. They're living in Alaska right now, which is a lot easier than, than Germany.
Lyle Gecko
When you said another state, I thought it was like, you know, Virginia, West Virginia they're in. I mean, Alaska is another planet.
Boone
I know. And I live in Oregon, so it's, it's kind of okay.
Lyle Gecko
Not that kind of a long distance, not that bad.
Boone
But her husband is, he's out of the military now and he's like going to school to like be an airline mechanic. And she's still active duty on days in Alaska, but we've gone up there to visit with them and we stay with them or they'll come down here and her husband's got family in Coos Bay and then her dad lives in Eugene. So they have plenty of reasons to come and visit and spend time out here. And typically if they want to like go on a vacation or something, then she'll, she'll bring our girl out here and she'll come and stay with us. But, but yeah, it's, it's interesting. You know, I, I feel really bad for people that have all these like toxic relationships with their kids, Bob or kid's dad or their family or whatever. It's like every time I tell people about them, it's like the exact opposite. Everybody loves each other and we spend time together and nobody has any problems. We just, we just have this distance, which kind of sucks and makes me sad that I don't get to see her every day again. But I feel like there's a good opportunity for her mom to come back and them to kind of live out here, whether that's still in the military or something. But, but we've been, we've been making it work. She's going to come and she's going to come and spend a week with us here in like two weeks. So I'm excited about that. But yeah, it's been her, her whole life has just been this extra relationship. It's like she's got dad her, so
Lyle Gecko
she's seven and her, she made like she goes to school and she has a pretty stable life in Alaska. That's where she mainly lives.
Boone
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
And how often in the past seven years has she gone to like be with you?
Boone
Well, she lived with us for that whole year post Covid. And then since then we get to see her in person maybe like three or four times a year. Which, which sucks. But I do get to FaceTime with her a lot. So her, her mom will always, you know, call us back or talk with us or whatever. It's. Like I said, it's not. It's not a toxic relationship. There's just distance. But she did just sign another. Another enlistment, I think, like, a year ago. So they're going to be out in Alaska for at least another two years before.
Lyle Gecko
Would you ever move to Alaska?
Boone
No, I. I can't. I can't really live out there. I really know, like, I know that they want to leave. Like, I know that this isn't like, a permanent thing of either her and them being there or. Or her mom staying in the military. I think she wants to leave eventually. It's just. This is just kind of her job, and it. The one thing about it is it's really. It's really given our family, like, a lot of stability. Like, she's always had, like, a roof over her head. And, you know, obviously the military pays for their housing, and a lot of their expenses are kind of free. Like, when she was born, we didn't have a hospital bill. Like, there's no debt associated with that. She also has, you know, like, the good military, like, health insurance and stuff like that. Like, on my side, like, my family, like, has, like, a financial system that's, like, set up to, like, make sure that we're all comfortable. Like, we have this trust right now that from my grandpa that we get, like, a percentage of it. So, like, every month she gets, like, a couple grand. So we kind of let her. Her Bob and husband kind of didn't really have to, like, stay for her. We just. I don't know, it's like everything is just kind of taken care of, and we just kind of have to work towards seeing each other right now. But, yeah, the goal is they just. They would eventually come out here to. To Portland, and we would all be this big, happy family.
Lyle Gecko
Boone, I have a question. Do you keep yawning or is that you, like, taking a second to smoke a joint?
Boone
I'm not yawning. I'm. I'm either smoking or trying to. Trying to breathe. Do you want me to sit down?
Lyle Gecko
No, I know. I don't want you to do anything. I was just. I was just genuinely curious.
Boone
No, I'm just. I'm just on a walk. I've either hit this blunt or trying to. Trying to breathe.
Lyle Gecko
Do you. How is the moon rock splint treating you?
Boone
That's pretty nice.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah. This is, you know, this is an interesting. Interesting dynamic you got going on because, like, yeah, it's a Very. A lot of, like, you know, I grew up with my parents divorced, but I was lucky because they. My. My. They lived, like, not even in the same state, but they were, like, down the street from each other, you know?
Boone
But you and I are. You and I are really similar like that. My parents divorced when I was, like, seven, and they've always lived, like, in the same town.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah. And it's. You know, it's the nuclear family of, like, I. I do kind of tend to understand that there are a lot of different family setups. There's a lot of different dynamics. I mean, ideally, you have two parents who are, like, involved at minimum. At minimum, two parents who, like, give a fuck about you, you know?
Sedona
Right.
Lyle Gecko
Two parents who give a fuck about you. But you can. You can have. There's many different types of successful family dynamics that exist in the world.
Boone
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
I think. I think I've always thought that there was only one. But I think as I get older, as I, like, learn about stuff and, you know, talk to people, like, it's not, you know, life is. Life is life. And there's a lot of different things that can happen. And, you know, you can still have a successful, healthy, happy child in many different dynamics. I mean, this is a tough one for sure.
Boone
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
With your daughter living all the way in fucking Alaska. But, yeah, man, I hope that. I hope that one day she is able to move a little bit closer to you. I'm sure that. I'm sure that. It's not like, it doesn't sound like your ex is completely stoked on living in Alaska forever, so there's that, too.
Boone
No, they don't. They don't seem to. Seem to love it.
Lyle Gecko
What's your name again? Crit.
Boone
Boone Boon.
Lyle Gecko
I say Chris Boone. Boone, I'll let you finish your blunt walk, but I appreciate you giving us a little window into your life today. This was. This was an interesting little snippet.
Boone
Well, thanks. I do have one thing that I wanted to say.
Lyle Gecko
Please.
Boone
I'm, like, two inches away from proposing to my girlfriend, and we're gonna. We're gonna share this whole cute life together.
Lyle Gecko
Okay, then. Wait, that just. Okay. Just now. Just now, what you did was that. Were you breathing? What was that?
Boone
Oh, yeah, that was. That was a little young.
Lyle Gecko
Okay. All right, continue. I was just curious about what that was.
Boone
No, I was just gonna say we're. We're about to get engaged. Her ring is almost done being made, and I'm just. I'm super stoked about it. Everything's just kind of falling into place. I've got all these good things and all these things to kind of look forward to and take advantage of, but. But I don't know. There's still so much that I want, my man.
Lyle Gecko
You'll find it. Or you won't, but you'll find something. You'll find something. You're high walking around in the woods. You'll find something. You're pervert. You're both literally and proverbially proverbially high walking around in the woods. So you'll find some.
Boone
I think you're right.
Lyle Gecko
Thank you for calling, Boone.
Boone
Thank you.
Lyle Gecko
That was Boone. Interesting. Interesting family dynamic. A moon rocks blunt. Hold on, I'm gonna look that up. What is a moon rocks blunt? Moon rocks blunt. Okay. Yeah, it's basically. It's infused stuff. Dude, weed is crazy. It only. And it only gets crazier. It just keeps getting cra. Whoa. Look at this guy. This Guy uploaded a YouTube video. Five moon rocks in one backwood. Do you guys remember custom grow 420? What's he up to? Can you still like smoke a ton of weed on YouTube anymore? Someone find that out. Can you still. Can you still smoke obnoxious amounts of weed on YouTube anymore? Someone. Someone find that out. Thank you, Boone.

Sedona
hello.
Lyle Gecko
Hi there. What's your name?
Sedona
My name is Sedona.
Lyle Gecko
Sedona?
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
Like, is there. Am I correct? There's a Sedona in Arizona, right?
Sedona
There is. That's what I'm named after.
Lyle Gecko
Are you from there?
Sedona
No, I'm not. I'm from Tennessee.
Lyle Gecko
Tennessee. Tennessee. Tennessee. Sedona from Tennessee. Sedona from Tennessee. What's going on? Oh, it says you texted me and you said, I got engaged at your live show, and then my fiance left me for my girlfriend.
Sedona
Yeah, unfortunately, I got, like, engaged at your show. Like, I think it was like. Like maybe like two years ago. Sorry, I'm just so nervous.
Lyle Gecko
The one. Oh. Oh, you gotta get. Okay.
Commercial Voice
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
You must have gotten engaged at one of the shows at Zany's. Was. It was the one with Shaggy tudo.
Sedona
Yeah. Yeah, he was there.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he was. Yeah, that. Yeah. There's two people who got engaged.
Sedona
Yeah, I remember. I. I remember. I was. I felt so bad, too, because that's what ended up being like, the whole show.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah. I mean, you know what's funny? Okay. Actually, I'll be honest. Some people complained about that. I thought it was cool. I thought it was a fun shot. I thought it was a lot of good energy.
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
But wait, were you the first couple that got engaged? Or the second one?
Sedona
No, I was actually the second. The second one.
Lyle Gecko
Okay.
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
And then your fiance ended up leaving you for your. For one of your friends?
Sedona
No, it was like, we're Polly.
Elizabeth
Yeah.
Sedona
So I had. We had. We actually. My. Our girlfriend, she actually, like, lived with us and everything.
Boone
It's.
Sedona
It's kind of a long story. Do you want to hear it? I don't know.
Lyle Gecko
I do want to hear it, but also. Okay, a couple things. You're okay because of the polyamorous dynamic of it.
Commercial Voice
Isn't it?
Lyle Gecko
Like, so you. I don't understand. When you got married to your fiance at the time, were you not poly?
Sedona
We. We have always been poly, but whenever we got engaged, we didn't have, like, a girlfriend or anything.
Lyle Gecko
Okay, so you got engaged to this guy as a guy, Right?
Sedona
It was a girl.
Lyle Gecko
Oh, wait, I remember. It was a girl.
Boone
Yeah, you got me.
Elizabeth
Okay.
Lyle Gecko
You got engaged to a lady, and then you got a girlfriend, and then the lady you Were engaged with. Left you to be with your girlfriend?
Sedona
Yes. It's terrible.
Lyle Gecko
This is like a call of duty free for all I know.
Boone
I just.
Sedona
Oh, my gosh. It's just, I. I don't even know. And it happened in, like, April, too, and, like, I've already got, like, a place of my own. I'm trying to, like, get my life back together, but, like, for some reason, like, I just can't get over them. Even though it was like, they had, like, been separating themselves so much from me, and they had pretty much, like, kind of left me, but I had just kind of made the move to just go ahead and throw myself out, essentially, and I got an apartment and just left them. But then I can't, like, not think about them all the time. And, like, I still, like, love them, and I don't know why. I just feel like I've made a mistake.
Lyle Gecko
This is a sign to not propose at my live shows because it will curse your relationship.
Sedona
I know. I think so. I think so.
Lyle Gecko
Was it a mistake? Was it a mistake to throw yourself out?
Sedona
I. I don't think so. I don't know. I feel like I. I was in, like, a really weird, like, head space. Like, I don't know. I didn't feel, like, any pain or anything. Like, I literally just was, like, so over it and over them. But once it, like, kind of set in and I was on my own, I was like, I really miss them. So I don't know. I don't know if it was a mistake or not.
Lyle Gecko
Okay, so you're. Yeah. You're debating whether or not it was a mistake to. Essentially, you noticed that they were getting a little closer and kind of ousting you, and. You decided to. You decided you. You didn't feel wanted enough there, so you left on your own accord.
Sedona
Yeah, essentially. But I had, like, started a new job, like, late last year, and it's like a management position, so I'm like. I'm away a lot. I work, you know, it's only 30 minutes that I drive, like, 30 minutes there, and I'm there a lot. Even when I'm at home, I'm taking phone calls and doing all kinds of stuff. And they just had, like, a lot of time together, and they just got. I don't know, it was like, even, like, when I was still there and we were still, like, kind of good, it kind of just felt like they really cheated on me. They had. You know, they even, like, started trying for, like, like, a baby together, like, without even, like, running it across me. I don't know.
Lyle Gecko
Okay, hold. Okay. Okay. What's your name again?
Sedona
Sedona.
Lyle Gecko
Sedona. Sedona, you know what my gut feeling is like, sedona, you know me, I'm pretty open minded. You know me, I'm pretty open minded. But this is one of. This is.
Boone
This is.
Lyle Gecko
But I. I'm pretty open minded. But this is totally, like, a point on the scoreboard for people who are anti polyamorous relationships.
Sedona
I know. I just. I mean, I. The thing about, like, my fiance was she was so, like, she knew what she was doing in, like, polyamorous relationships. You know, she was, like, giving other people advice and things.
Lyle Gecko
Well, it starts to become like a Machiavellian power strike. It's like. It's like secession or something. It's like a weird.
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
Thing. You know, and you feel. And she had more experience in that dynamic than you, and she was trying to basically reign supreme in the hierarchy of the Paul. Of the. Of the throuple.
Sedona
Yeah. But it gets so much worse. I just. I have been, like, honestly, so miserable, and I recently, like, I had, like, blocked them because, like, I was in. In the time that I had them blocked, I was doing so much better, like, mentally. But then I just. For some reason, I was just so close to the house, and I just went over there and, like, all my cats are still over there, and I just. I don't know, went over there and they, like, they. They're very, like, controlling, and they made me unblock them. And that lasted, like, two days. And then I blocked them again. And I don't really feel bad about it.
Lyle Gecko
Okay. I. I don't think. First of all, I don't think it was a. A mistake to. If you are in a relationship or a situation where you feel like you're not wanted, you should leave.
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
You know, you should leave. If you feel like you're not being chosen and you're not wanted, you should, you know, not be there especially. I mean, I mean, it's one thing, by the way, by the way, that goes that. That advice is, like, kind of complicated in a monogamous relationship, but in a polyamorous relationship, it's like dog. You know, if they're. If they're. If they're having a baby without you, that's like. Yeah, that's. That's a lot. I. I don't think it was a mistake to leave in that situation.
Sedona
Yeah. And because I had found out, like, maybe like, not even a month ago, like, because I had already Been gone for, like, a month, and a month after I left, she's, like, pregnant now, so that kind of hurts. So I've been trying to deal with that. So it's, like, already. Well, like, I'm. I still have, like, this big open wound. Like, they. It's just like they dig it even deeper.
Elizabeth
And.
Sedona
Yeah, I just. And I try to be so. Understand. I haven't done anything but be so wonderful to them about it. And I try so hard, but it just hurts so much because, like. And no one has, like, really understood, like, what I'm talking about. Like, I tried to speak to one of my friends about it, and he was just like, oh, you're. You're jealous. You're like, no, I'm not jealous. That's, like, the wrong word. But it's like, you know, we had, like, lightly talked about it, and if anybody would have a baby, it would be me. And even if my. Our girlfriend were to get pregnant, it would be, like, my baby, too. And now that baby's going to exist, and it's not my baby. You know what I mean? It's just, like, kind of painful. I know it's a very weird situation, but it's just a situation that I was living in for years, so it's.
Lyle Gecko
I know what you mean.
Sedona
And no one relates to it.
Commercial Voice
I know.
Sedona
I know.
Lyle Gecko
I know what you mean. I know what you mean. And even, like, I get it's a weird situation. There's, like, a polyamorous element to it. But, I mean, if you take out the polyamorous element of it, right? And it's like, you and this lady, you talk about having a baby together, and then you see her having a baby with someone else, you know, clear as day as to why that would be emotionally difficult.
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
How long ago did you exit from the. The group chat?
Sedona
I officially moved out, like, early April.
Lyle Gecko
Okay. So this is pretty new.
Sedona
Yeah, it's. It's still really new.
Lyle Gecko
It's just very fresh. Yeah. How old are you?
Sedona
I'm about to be 22.
Lyle Gecko
Oh. Oh, man.
Sedona
I know. I know.
Lyle Gecko
You're going to be. You're going to be. You're going to be just fine, my friends. You're going to be just fine. You're going to. I'm way more worried about the people. Those two. They're in for a treat. You got you about. Of all three of you guys, you guys. Of all three of you guys, she. You got out the best, it seems, because it sounds like of all three of you guys, you got the best of you got the best of them. Because it sounds like the lady that you initially got engaged with was, like, playing some weird mind power games and doing a whole thing. And then, you know, that sucks for her, and then it's gonna suck for whoever she raises the baby with. So, I mean. Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot. Yeah, that's a lot.
Boone
You should be,
Lyle Gecko
I don't know, you should be doing graffiti or something.
Sedona
I know I need to do something else, but yeah, she was. Can I talk a little bit more about it?
Lyle Gecko
Yeah, of course.
Sedona
Okay. She was just like, also, like, super, like, controlling. Like, I, like, smoke and stuff, and she was like, so mean about it. Like, not just like a normal, like, amount of like, hey, I want you to stop smoking. But like, like ultimatums, like, all the time. She always trying to control and change, like, everything about me to where, like, it just is so, like, miserable. And like, one thing of, like, moving out was it's like, wow, I can like, do this and that now.
Elizabeth
Nervous.
Sedona
But yeah, it's just crazy how controlling she was. But I still miss him a lot. And I don't know why.
Lyle Gecko
I mean, it makes sense that your, your body has. Well, the, the literal answer as to why you miss them is that your brain has formed neurochemical trenches that align themselves with their presence over a period of time. And it takes a certain period of time for those trenches in your brain to be untrenched. A little longer than three months.
Sedona
Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
Are you dating? Are you on. What's the. Are you on field? Is that the one field?
Sedona
No, I, I, I tried like, a little bit. Like, not like wanting to, like, day or anything, but just maybe like, see people and meet people, but that didn't go well. So I'm just like, I straight up and just gonna, you know, not be with anybody. Like, I'm to the point to where I'm just for here on out for. I just don't want to be around, like, I don't think anyone. I don't want any partners or anything.
Lyle Gecko
Well, what's the rest of your life look like? Dear friends?
Sedona
Not too much. I just work a lot. Hopefully I can work my way up where I work and hopefully I can go on vacation. October.
Lyle Gecko
Where do you want to go on vacation in October?
Sedona
I really don't know. I'm kind of even thinking, like, New York. I'm thinking Canada. Yeah, I, I've never been really out of Tennessee, so, you know, I don't, I don't really know, but you never
Lyle Gecko
been out of Tennessee?
Sedona
No, I've really never been out of Tennessee, homegirl.
Lyle Gecko
What's your name again?
Sedona
Sedona.
Lyle Gecko
Sedona. How did I forget that? Sedona, Sedona, Sedona, you have so much life. Jeez, man, you have so much life to go and live.
Sedona
I know. I. I don't feel like I'll get to, like, live a lot, though.
Lyle Gecko
Why?
Sedona
Because I just like, even, like, I work non stop, and the, like, job I have now is kind of like the same field I'm going to be in probably hopefully for the rest of my life. So I know kind of like, what that looks like and, like, I'm not gonna have, like, a lot of time to, like, travel because, you know, I'm just not gonna have that a lot.
Lyle Gecko
So what's the job? Medical.
Sedona
I help run a hotel. Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
Interesting. You're like, that's. That's kind of interesting because the travelers are coming to you.
Sedona
I know they are. They're coming to me.
Lyle Gecko
So, like, you know, when you meet some guy and his wife from Columbus, Ohio, you talk to them for a little bit. It's like you get to visit Columbus, Ohio by proxy.
Sedona
Yeah, I try to enjoy it, but, like, like, in the position I'm at, like, the only guests I really get to talk to are ones that are terrible people and that are, like, causing major issues. So, like, it's also made me kind of like, lose faith in humanity and like, kind of not like people any anymore. I just am always, you know, I just discuss it at people now.
Commercial Voice
What?
Lyle Gecko
Like, give me some examples.
Sedona
Some examples?
Lyle Gecko
Yeah.
Sedona
Oh, my gosh. We have, like, a lot of, like, scam artists come in. I had one yesterday, but one that really sticks out to me was when it was still, like, cold outside, and it was this lady and her little kid. And since she had like a little boy with her, we felt really like, man, we really got to help. So we gave her, like, a free room. And this was whenever, like, we were getting like, really iced in and stuff, and all of the employees were like. Because, you know, whenever it's like in the winter and it's like icing in. Employees of hotels, we, like, essentially live at the hotel. So they were like, giving us, like, dinner and like, every meal. So we were like, feeding those two, like, the mom and the kid as well. I forget exactly, like, what went down, but she was doing, like, some really sketchy stuff when we asked her to leave. And we had to get the cops involved. And what's that little you know when people have to have, like, their, like, colon or something removed and they have that little tube with a bag?
Lyle Gecko
Yes.
Sedona
What's that called? Colostomy bag.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah, colostomy bag.
Sedona
She showed me hers. She, like. It was like a see through bag, and she, like, pulled down her pants and, like, whipped out her bag. And I've never been so disgusted in my entire life. It was horrible. Yeah, I just completely snapped in that moment. I was like, you gotta go. You gotta go right now.
Lyle Gecko
Was that the. Was that the moment where you told them they had to leave was when they shoot?
Sedona
Oh, no, I was telling her that before. Yeah, she was pulling every. Every trick out of the bag. She was like, I got this. I got that. Like, feel bad for me. Feel bad for me. But she, you know, it happened so often. We kind of, like, feel like we were kind of fooled that time, and we got, like, kind of, like, scanned a little bit. But she was also kind of like, you know, neglecting her child a little bit. So we're just letting it happen to take care of him a little bit. But there's only so much we can do.
Lyle Gecko
Sedona, you're a good soul.
Sedona
Oh, thank you.
Lyle Gecko
Is there anything else you want to say to the people of the computer before we go?
Sedona
I don't think so.
Boone
All right.
Lyle Gecko
Hang in. Hang in there, man. You're gonna. You're gonna be okay. You know, you're gonna. I think you got out good.
Sedona
All right. Thank you, Greg. I appreciate it.
Lyle Gecko
Thank you, Sedona.
Boone
Bye.
Lyle Gecko
Bye. Take care.
Sedona
Bye.
Elizabeth
Bye. Call from Elizabeth.
Lyle Gecko
Hello.
Elizabeth
Hello.
Lyle Gecko
Hi.
Elizabeth
Oh, my goodness. This is so funny.
Lyle Gecko
What's your name?
Elizabeth
How are you doing? My name is Elizabeth.
Lyle Gecko
Elizabeth, how am I doing? I'm doing all right. I'm living my life.
Elizabeth
Yeah. As you should. As you should. I know you hear this all the time, but I've been calling since, like, 2020. I was just looking at all of the times I've called you.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah, it's crazy I've been doing it this long, but. Well, so what have you been. What have you been wanting to talk about?
Elizabeth
I don't know. I feel like we are twin souls in a weird way. Like, my whole life, I knew I wanted to, like, help people and talk to people about their problems, and I just absolutely love the way that you use your platform. And I listened to you all through college when I was studying to be a counselor. And, like, in the weirdest way, I took so many ways that you talk to people and get people to open up. I just Think you have a gift with it.
Lyle Gecko
Thank you. That's really, really sweet. I really appreciate that.
Elizabeth
Yeah. Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
So you're a. Are you a counselor?
Sedona
I want to be.
Elizabeth
I'm actually, like, a general manager of Mellow Mushroom right now. It's kind of. It matches my personality at heart because, like, I'm a smoker, and no part of me ever. Like, it didn't really mesh in my head to, like, smoke weed but then also be a counselor. So it was really hard for me during school to try to mesh the two, but at the same time, it was like, smoking helps you connect with people so much. So, like, in the ideal world, if I could just be a counselor and have, like, a smoke sesh with all my clients, I feel like I could help so many people.
Lyle Gecko
I have so many things to say to that. I mean, good news is you can absolutely smoke a ton of weed and be the general manager of Mellow Mushroom Pizza. I. With Mellow Mushroom Pizza. Heavy. I love a mellow Mushroom pizza. Where are they. Where are they located again? I know I've been to them before a bunch, but they. They're, like, kind of specifically in some region of the states. Where are they?
Sedona
Yeah, like, they.
Elizabeth
They started in Atlanta, and they're all over the country now, but they're. I'm. I'm in Georgia, so.
Lyle Gecko
Yeah, Mellow Mushroom Pizza is awesome. I. I have to say, I mean, it depends on who you are. Sometimes weed helps me conn. Other times it does the true, exact opposite. And I'm like, yeah, I don't want to talk to anyone.
Elizabeth
You know, I feel like every time I've ever smoked with anybody, like, it's either, like, that person never wants to smoke with me again because I unlocked a part of their personality that they didn't know, like, existed, or, like, that person becomes, like, almost addicted to me, where they can't stop unlocking parts of themselves through conversation.
Lyle Gecko
Okay, tell me more about this. Tell me more about the. How you. How you feel. Like, you unlock parts of people through conversation.
Elizabeth
So it's like, if you can get a person to see that you see them and you're not just, like, talking to them with a script, then you've won, and they know that they're seen, then they'll open up in ways that they wouldn't have if they felt overlooked.
Lyle Gecko
Totally.
Elizabeth
And I feel like the way I use smoking, like, it just completely unlocks that first layer of yourself, because that's
Sedona
at least how it.
Elizabeth
How it affects me. Like, I'm able to Be who I am meant to be without the layers of anxiety locking myself in.
Lyle Gecko
You're able to be who you're meant to be without layers of anxiety locking you in. So we. Okay, so we does the opposite. Weed makes you less anxious so that you can be yourself.
Elizabeth
Yes.
Boone
Okay.
Elizabeth
I know it's not the same for everybody.
Lyle Gecko
Okay. And do you still desire to be a counselor? It sounds like this is a big. A big thing for you.
Elizabeth
Yeah, like, my whole life, like, I've been, like, the. The mediator of every, like, situation I've been in. So it kind of just, like, it's a natural part of my personality where it kind of felt silly to go to school for it because it was like flying through school with A's. Because it's just discovering parts of yourself through the textbook almost. And a part of me really wants to do that, but it's like going to school is so expensive that it. It just seems like a corporate game that I don't want to be a part of. Like, I can help people without going to school.
Lyle Gecko
I mean, here's the. If you really want to, you can totally start a twitch stream where you talk to people on the phone and. And. And smoke weed with them. You know, there's nothing stopping you from doing that. You could be a coach.
Elizabeth
Thought about it,
Lyle Gecko
You've thought about it. You should. You should do it. It sounds like it's something you want to do. I mean, you can go into the streets and be like Lucy from Peanuts and just fucking be like, smoke and hang out with me and people. People. When you. You know, I've noticed. This is a thing I've noticed by the fact of, like, just walking around in the gecko suit and whatnot. It's very funny to me because, like, doing all this stuff is second nature to me because I've been doing it for so long. But I'm like, anytime you set up a thing, people notice, you know, Especially in real life. Particularly in real life, if you set up a little thing, people who walk by, they look at your little thing and they go, what's this little thing? So, yeah, I think I'm pro. Little thing. Like that park that I'm always filming at, Washington Square Park. There's all sorts of people there with. With their little thing. Like, I stopped by there yesterday, and there was a guy who was, like, had a little table up, being like, you should pretend like God is real. And he had a whole line of people talking to him. He wasn't famous or nothing. He just had A whole line of people who wanted to talk, be a part of his little thing, debating him about God, you know, so just do a. Do a little thing. If that's. If that's what you so desire, I think you'll have a good time.
Sedona
Mm.
Elizabeth
I definitely. I definitely need to. What's your, like, number one piece of advice for somebody who's trying to start a little thing like, out in world. The wild?
Lyle Gecko
My number one piece of advice for someone trying to start a little thing out in the wild is push at least 30 minutes past the. The. When you have that thought. When you have that inevitable thought of, I feel really stupid right now. I think this is a stupid and bad idea. You should push back. You push through that for at least 30 minutes, because it's always on the other side of that idea, and that's fine.
Advertiser
Never.
Lyle Gecko
I never. I never don't get that feeling. Even after doing it for so long, I still. Every time I go out and walk around in that costume, I still get a little feeling of, like, I feel a little stupid right now. I think this was, like, a stupid idea. Even though it's worked so many times, every time I do it, I'm like, no, this is a stupid idea. So. But then. But then on the. On the other end of that, like, usually about a half hour after deciding that what I'm doing is a stupid idea, is when I. When something fun and cool happens.
Elizabeth
Yeah. I respect you so much for, like, breaking the boundary with, like, you know, I'm not trying to sound any type of way, but, like, dressing up as a green gecko and, like, breaking the boundary with people with. That is crazy. And that's such a cool, unique thing.
Lyle Gecko
Well, I'll tell you this. I genuinely do believe I. I am being. This. I'm being a hundred percent serious. I genuinely believe that being the general manager at a mellow mushroom pizza is more difficult than dressing up as a gecko and walking around.
Boone
So, yeah, you.
Lyle Gecko
So I think that you have already done the more difficult thing, and thus, if you want to do another little thing where you put yourself out there, I think you're. You're well primed. Are you with a baby right now? Do you have a baby? I hear a baby.
Elizabeth
Yeah. I'm so sorry. I'm in the car with my daughter. Actually. Crazy story. My. My cat is in the urgent care right now, and I was trying to distract myself by calling you, and I'm babysitting my daughter.
Lyle Gecko
How. How old is your daughter?
Elizabeth
My daughter is 18 months old.
Lyle Gecko
Wow. Wait, you also have a daughter? That's way harder than setting up a fucking. You've done so many. You know what? You've done so many things in your life that are way harder than, you know, setting up a sign at a park and talking to people. So. Yeah, you're already there. How. Yeah. How's it been? How's. How have the 18 months been?
Sedona
It's been good.
Elizabeth
I. I never really thought that I'd enjoy parenting as much as I do. It's really fun to have, like, all the first experiences with somebody and walking them through it and, like, being like, I'm 24, and I just. I decided to have kids young because I knew I was ready to grow up with my best friend. You know what I mean? Without that sounding so cliche,
Lyle Gecko
your daughter being your best friend or your.
Elizabeth
Yeah, my daughter.
Lyle Gecko
Mm.
Elizabeth
It's like, you know, that everybody has different experiences with their kids, but I always knew that I'd be close to mine.
Lyle Gecko
And. Who's the father?
Elizabeth
My husband. I met him when I was 22. I dropped out of college and started working at Mellow Mushroom, and, you know, everything went from there. Yeah.
Lyle Gecko
Well, what's. What's your husband do?
Elizabeth
He works. His job's lame. His job's lame. He works in a big, cold warehouse. He works in a big freezer.
Lyle Gecko
And how is it for him being a father?
Sedona
He loves it.
Elizabeth
He's actually, like, the best dad he could ever be. Like, he.
Lyle Gecko
Oh, really?
Elizabeth
Kind of explore who I want to be still, even though I'm so young. And he takes care of her and is really there for us in every way that he could be. And I know I am so blessed compared to, like, I hear so many people with young dads nowadays.
Sedona
Like, it's like the.
Elizabeth
The whole father experience has, like, changed, and I'm so thankful to have, like, a good one. I don't know. I feel like a lot of dads are, like, deadbeats nowadays. And without that sounding too harsh, I just hearing things from friends and co workers. It's like, I know that, like, the fact that my child's father reads their bedtime stories and changes their diapers and gives their baths, like, is a big deal.
Lyle Gecko
What do you have in mind for this little thing you want to do?
Sedona
I really want to go back to
Elizabeth
school, I think, in general, and I want to start something creative to help people. Like I was saying earlier, I. I really like, like, outdoor stuff, and I think that meshing something, like, something crazy outdoor with, like, counseling mixed with Smoking, I just think would be like the coolest. But I know that there's going to be a lot of steps to get there.
Lyle Gecko
Well, try not to think too many about the steps and just do the thing. Oh, I'll, I'll hear you. I hear your daughter asking for you, so I'll let you go. But what is your name again?
Elizabeth
My name's Elizabeth.
Lyle Gecko
Elizabeth. Elizabeth, thank you very much for sharing. I appreciate it.
Elizabeth
Yeah. Thank you for talking to me.
Lyle Gecko
Is there anything else you want to say to the people of the computer before we go?
Elizabeth
Live long and prosper.
Lyle Gecko
Swag out. Thank you, Elizabeth, for sure.
Elizabeth
Have a great night.
Lyle Gecko
You too. Bye, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth
Bye.
Lyle Gecko
That was Elizabeth. Good lady. Mellow mushroom pizza is a good time. Where did it. Where, where are they? They're in Georgia. All right, we're doing it.
Boone
We're gonna.
Lyle Gecko
I gotta, I gotta start doing it. I gotta do a new podcast that's just looking at stuff on Wikipedia. Okay. It's in Atlanta, but there's a bunch of them, right? There's 170 of them. Holy shit. Across 20 states. Yeah, it's like a stoner y pizza place. It's pretty good. Okay, when I'm in Atlanta, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go to this mellow mushroom pizza. This is gonna be sick.

Getting to a great idea is hard in college. Nonsensical essays, cringe inducing presentations and seemingly unsolvable problem sets. But then the first thought becomes a final thesis. Jumbled slides transform into a polished keynote. And that midterm assignment gets a lot less mid. Because the road to great ideas is littered with bad ones. You just have to keep going until something clicks. Great ideas start on Mac. Find out more on apple.com college hello, folks.
Lyle Gecko
This is Lyle Gecko, Man. I'm going to end the podcast by doing one Geck mail, maybe two. I'll see how I feel. I shouldn't have even brought it up. I made a mistake. I brought it up, and some people are expecting to. But if I had just said, we're gonna read one, and then I had been like, you know what? Let's do two, then it would have been a pleasant surprise as opposed to now. I, you know, I could have set myself up for only the possibility of a pleasant surprise, and now I've set myself up for only the possibility of either a disappointment or something that was already anticipated. So I fucked up. That's why you can't let people know your plans too far in advance, folks. That's why you can't let people know your plans too far in advance. Anyway, I forget what I even said. I forget where I am. I don't know what year it is. I'm crazy. I did four rounds of ketamine therapy over the past few weeks. It was crazy. They scrambled my brain. This isn't an email I'm reading. This is just. I don't know why I decided to talk about this right now. I wanted to talk about this. It scrambled my brain. It didn't do the thing I wanted it to do. But what happened was I was. I was going in. I was going in for the injection, and I was really nervous about how it would feel, and I wanted something to calm me down. So I started thinking about Larry David and I started running. I started running Curb youb Enthusiasm episodes in my head because I was nervous for the ketamine. And then when they started injecting me with it, all of a sudden Larry David is guiding me through the astral plane. And I didn't really have any life epiphanies or expired. I just thought about Larry David guiding me through the astral plane. And then I wake up and the nurse is looking at me and she's like, did you have any particular feelings? And I was like, I thought a lot about Larry David. And she was like, oh, who is that? And I said, he's a. He's a very funny guy. And she was like, oh, he's a comedian. I was like, yeah. And she was like, do you know him? And I was like, no, but he's a very funny guy. And then. And then the doctor fake laughed and then I gave her money and that was it. So that's my review of ketamine therapy. I could go more in depth, but maybe I will. But I want to read this email. This is one. This is the one Geck mail. I'll read. We got one Geck mail. Maybe, maybe two. I don't know. Okay, this is from. This is from someone called Giga Cats subject line. I hate my mother in law. Sometimes I truly feel that some people deserve to suffer and some deserve to die. Jesus Christ. There's only three people that I have this very real hatred for and my mother in law is one of them. I wish I could just show up to my boyfriend's house to find out she's dead. Oh my God. This is crazy. She's slowly been losing connections with her family to her intolerable self and she deserves it. She deserves to be alone, in need, with no one to help her. Jesus Christ. I. This. I feel like this was an email that this is just someone's journal entry and they were like, I'm gonna send this in. I wish she could feel regret, but she is incapable of internalizing her actions and she could never blame herself, only play the victim. Sometimes I think about taking matters into my own hands to teach her a lesson. But my partner wants me to get along with her and my close relationship to her would make me a suspect if I were to commit any crimes. Jesus Christ. I am left only to think
Boone
this
Lyle Gecko
is gonna be like her mother in law, like ate her leftovers in the fridge once or something like that. I've been in a committed relationship with her son for five years and really want to spend my life with him. So that requires I interact with her every so often. At first I thought it was just annoying how often she would call my boyfriend and how almost every time we planned a date she had to ruin it by making my boyfriend do work for her. What kind of work? But the deeper my relationship has grown, the worse are the things I learn about and see in her. I'm not talking about the neglect towards my boyfriend in his childhood. I'm talking about straight up egocentricity and lack of self consciousness throughout multiple surgeries my boyfriend needed to get done. She would dismiss his needs and call him lazy for needing so much rest, disgusting for not cleaning his room, and worst of all, ask him for tons of favors. He barely had the physical capacity to do and guilt trip him for not doing them. When he gets mad at her and sets boundaries, she'll tell him he needs to go to a psychiatrist to get his mood checked, Something she used to do when he was a minor. It's as if she never could realize the things she says. As if her entire unit, as if the entire universe had to respond to her every command. What are your thoughts on people like her? And how do you keep your sanity around them when seeing them is necessary? Thank you, Geck. You're an amazing person, worthy of love. Okay. You're okay. My actual. My husband. Your boyfriend needs to do. Your boyfriend needs to deal with this. Your boyfriend needs to deal with this or you need to deal with it? So if your boyfriend, like, because you're an adult, right? I assume. I assume you're an adult. I assume your boyfriend's an adult. And like, as two adults, if there's another person who's, like, making your fucking life a living hell, like, you gotta get them out and you gotta. I would literally tell your boyfriend, like, yo, you gotta. Like, we need. We need to distance ourselves from your mother or I'm out. I do. I do kind of believe that, because this. Because you. This woman clearly, like, you despise her. You despise the way that she treats your boyfriend. And I mean, you want to kill her. This is crazy. This is absolutely insane. Your boyfriend doesn't sound like he needs to be around this lady. You don't sound like you want to be around this lady. So if I were the boy. If I were the. If I were you, I'd be like, yo, dude, you gotta. We gotta get out of here. This is a lot. This is too much. And if he. And if it's too hard for him. That does suck. That is a complicated, sad thing. But then I guess you have to decide whether or not, like, you want to be a part of that. You know, it's up to you. It's a difficult situation, though. Don't kill this lady. Don't kill this lady. That's a bad idea. I recommend not killing this lady. Thank you for sharing, Giga Cats. I think this is it. I think this is the end of the podcast. My name is Lyle. I'm a gecko. Oh, I have an up. I have a fun thing. We did a show in Portland a few weeks ago, and in real life, I met the famous train hopping Trip, the caller who hops trains. He showed up on our show as Steve. He legally changed his name to Trip which is awesome. He came up on stage and he gave us some life updates. It was really cool to like, meet him in person and shit. You know, that's. That's one of the cool things about doing the live shows. You meet a lot of people in person who you met on the phone, which is pretty dope. Um, I'm posting the live shows on my patreon. Host: Lyle (Therapy Gecko)
Date: July 1, 2026
This episode of Therapy Gecko features host Lyle, the unlicensed lizard psychologist, as he talks with callers about the complexities of family, distance, relationships, and personal reinvention. The episode’s main theme centers on unconventional family setups and the emotional realities of parenting and relationships in unique scenarios, including long-distance parenting, polyamory, heartbreak, and finding community in unlikely places.
In this episode, Lyle offers gentle validation and playful reflection to callers navigating long-distance parenting, heartbreak, creativity, and personal growth. Listeners are left with the message that family, fulfillment, and connection come in many forms—and sometimes, the best you can do is “walk high in the woods” (literally and metaphorically) and trust you’ll find your way.
Therapy Gecko’s closing message:
“We are going to live to the max, as we do. Have a good night. Gek Bless. See you guys next time.” (end of episode)
For fans and the curious alike, this episode continues Therapy Gecko’s mission: normalizing the wild, messy, beautiful realities of being a person, one offbeat phone call at a time.
