There are some conversations that stay with you long after the recording ends, and this was one of them. When I first came across Brady Lucas and heard pieces of his story, I immediately knew I wanted him on the podcast. As a cancer mom myself, hearing from survivors who are now thriving years later brings so much hope — not just for me, but for every family walking through this journey right now. Brady was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 8 years old. After enduring years of chemotherapy, he relapsed as a teenager and underwent a life-saving bone marrow transplant donated by his younger brother. In this conversation, he shares what it was like to face cancer as a child, the emotional weight survivors carry long after treatment ends, and how his perspective on health completely transformed because of it. We also talk about something I'm incredibly passionate about: what happens after treatment. Because surviving cancer is not the finish line. It's the beginning of rebuilding the body, supporting long-term healing, and creating an environment where health can truly thrive. Brady shares how nutrition, movement, sleep, emotional healing, and community support became foundational parts of his healing journey — and why he now feels called to educate and empower other families. This episode is honest, emotional, encouraging, and deeply hopeful. If you are in the middle of treatment, supporting someone you love through cancer, or navigating survivorship yourself, I hope Brady's story reminds you that there is life, purpose, healing, and hope on the other side of this. What would you do if your child's life depended on decisions no one is fully explaining to you? In this episode, I sit down with Ryan Sternagel—a father, advocate, and founder of The Stern Method—whose son was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma just before his first birthday. What followed wasn't just a cancer journey… it was a complete rethinking of how healing actually works. Ryan shares how he and his wife navigated misdiagnosis, pushed for answers, faced pressure from the medical system, and ultimately chose a path that blended conventional care with powerful integrative support. This is not just a story of survival. It's a masterclass in advocacy, critical thinking, and what it really means to support your child's healing—before, during, and long after treatment. If you're thinking about having a baby—now or someday—this episode is for you. After years of working with families navigating pediatric cancer, I've seen patterns that are too important to ignore. What we often focus on is treatment… but what if we went further upstream? What if your child's health actually begins before conception? In this episode, I'm walking you through five foundational steps you can take right now to create the strongest possible start for your future child. This isn't about fear. It's about awareness, ownership, and giving your baby the best chance to thrive—before they even exist. In this episode, I sit down with Roxy and her mom, Diana, to share a story that is both deeply emotional and incredibly hope-filled. Roxy was just four years old when her family discovered a lump that would quickly turn their world upside down. From diagnosis to treatment, and then facing a relapse scare, Diana shares what it was like to walk through fear, uncertainty, and the weight of life-altering decisions as a parent. But what unfolds in this conversation is something even more powerful—a story of faith, resilience, and the unwavering belief in healing. From Roxy's childlike confidence in her healing, to the intentional choices their family made to support her body, this episode is a reminder of the strength that can be found in both faith and action. In this episode, I dive into one of the most challenging decisions many cancer parents face—how to protect your child from infection without unintentionally causing further harm. We're talking about PJP (Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia) and the standard use of long-term prophylactic antibiotics during treatment. While the intention is to prevent a serious infection, I explore the growing concern that this approach may be compromising the very immune system it's meant to protect. Drawing from both research and my personal experience, I unpack what's often not discussed in the oncology setting and share a more supportive, integrative approach to protecting your child's health during treatment. After a year-long break, the Thrive Through and Beyond Cancer podcast is back with a fresh start, and I couldn't be more excited to welcome you! In this episode, I share a deeply personal journey. After losing what we thought was our forever home, my family took a leap of faith, buying one-way tickets to Mexico. What started as a temporary pit stop turned into a life-changing experience. We found healing, community, and joy in a beautiful, humbling place that gave us a new perspective on life. I also talk about the incredible legacy of Kim Schuette, founder of Biodynamic Wellness. Kim guided me through some of our family's toughest moments — from our daughter's adoption to my son's cancer recovery. Now, as the new owners of her practice, I am honored to continue her work. On April 1st, 2025, Biodynamic Wellness officially became ours, and we're ready to continue her legacy in a powerful new way. Finally, I discuss some concerning trends I'm seeing in my practice: mycotoxin exposure in cancer patients, active gut infections in remission, and persistent metabolic dysfunction. These are important issues we can't afford to ignore on the road to healing. I am joined by Rob McDaniel, co-founder of Primal Pastures, to discuss the difference between conventional, organic, and truly pasture-raised meat.
