Why I Am A Zionist

For me at least, it is always the latest news. Here’s why. At its deepest root, the reason I am a Zionist is not because I am Jewish. I’m not. And while the Biblical basis for loving and standing with Yeshua’s human family is both clear and compelling, that’s not what won my heart. Something else did. Or, more accurately, someone else.The Jewish people first captured my imagination when I was twelve. My dad, a pastor, befriended a Holocaust survivor named Manny Offman. Listening to him, a man who had walked out of Auschwitz, lit something in me that never fully went out. The liberation of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War only deepened it. Then we moved, and that fascination faded. For almost thirty years.In 1998, just before he turned ten, my impish, blond-haired, blue-eyed, smart and witty son went to get an x-ray. He was limping. I thought it was growing pains. It wasn’t. A huge, bony tumor was hiding in his pelvic dish. The cancer, osteosarcoma, was vicious. The only hope for its removal was amputation of Taylor’s left leg and his hip’s left hemisphere. In the two-year battle that followed, there were times he suffered. Horribly. But when there was no pain, he climbed trees, played four-square on one leg, rode horses, flew down the mountain on an alpine slide, rode his bike, went Trick or Treating as a one-legged pirate, and gleefully pranked his friends, their parents, his school teachers, doctors and nurses. No one was spared; everyone adored him. From the first day of diagnosis, he made a choice. He chose to focus on life, to celebrate life and love, until the day, twenty-eight years ago, just as the rising sun broke through the barrier of night, and with a mischievous smile on his face, he breathed his last and made the transition from life……to life.His spirit changed my life. It was his gift of visceral love, his determination to live, fully live, that both rocked my faith and, in the cracks of sorrow, poured the binding agent of wonder at the Father’s sacrifice of His Son and His visceral love for life. For the life of His uniquely chosen human family, and for all of us grafted into it by faith. Somehow, that re-awakened the dormant seed planted in my early adolescence. What I came to see in the Jewish people, and in Israel, was something I knew and loved with all my heart. I saw the spirit of my son. And His. That’s why I’m a Zionist. Jeremiah 31:31–34—The New Covenant

I explain how this covenant was inaugurated through Jesus’ blood at the Last Supper, making Him the only One who could replace the Old Covenant since only God Himself could abolish what God had established. While the church enjoys the benefits of this covenant today through faith in Christ—including regeneration, forgiveness, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and His teaching ministry—the ultimate fulfillment remains future for Israel. When Jesus returns, Romans 11:25–26 promises “all Israel will be saved,” and they will experience the full blessings of having God’s law written on their hearts. They happen quietly… in homes filled with pain, fear, and desperate prayers whispered to Jesus.Recently, Esther, a long time subscriber from our Tipping Point community found herself facing a painful and frightening week. Her husband was away on a trip. Her daughter, who lives nearby, had come down with shingles and couldn’t help. And Esther herself was suddenly battling severe back pain on top of issues with scoliosis. The pain became so intense she could barely move without stabbing pain shooting through her body. Even getting upstairs to her bedroom felt overwhelming.Honestly, she was scared.But right there in the middle of her pain and fear, Esther did something beautiful. She wrote, “After a couple mini movements I called on Jesus loudly.”Not polished.Not perfect.Just real faith reaching for a faithful Savior.Esther began praying, repeating Scripture aloud, reminding herself that God was with her even though she felt alone. She held tightly to the truth that He is still the God who heals.And over the next couple days… relief began to come. Slowly, but very sure.Friends, many of us need this reminder today: healing doesn’t always arrive with flashing lights and instant answers. Sometimes it comes one small movement at a time. One prayer at a time. One moment of trusting God again at a time.But through it all, Esther never stopped praising Him.Jeremiah 17:14 (NLT) says, “O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. Neuralink, the New Jerusalem, and the Modern Tower of Babel

Loving Israel Honestly

When those warheads fall, the immediate reaction is to protect ourselves and those we love. Unfortunately, people are wounded. Some die spiritually. So how do we protect ourselves from deception? I sit down with Reverend Peter Fast, International President and CEO of Bridges for Peace, headquartered right here in Jerusalem with branches in eight nations. For fifty years, Bridges has been building relationships with the Jewish people—feeding 24,000 needy people monthly, repairing nearly 2,000 homes, helping 120,000 Jews make aliyah. Peter addresses the flotilla theatrics, the Ben Gvir controversy, and the upcoming gay pride event at the Dead Sea. Standing with Israel doesn’t mean standing with everything in Israel. Israel, like all nations, needs cleansing—and God promises to sprinkle them clean. But the forces arrayed against Israel are ultimately arrayed against God Himself. Biblical illiteracy is rampant. If you’re unaware of what God is doing, you will be deceived easier. The church needs a healthy return to the Bible, read through a Hebraic lens. Go to Israel. Connect with the Jewish community. Anyone else feel like that? Then I found Tipping Point.The teaching on Bible prophecy completely changed the way I read Scripture, view the world, and understand the times we’re living in. What once felt confusing (and a little scary) suddenly became filled with clarity, urgency, and hope.One of my favorite reminders Pastor Jimmy Evans often shares—and the title of one of his books—is this simple phrase: “Look up.”At first, I didn’t fully understand what that meant. But over the years, those two words have become an anchor for my heart.Luke 21:28 (NLT) says, “So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!”Jesus spoke those words while describing difficult end-time events. He wasn’t telling believers to panic. He was reminding us to lift our eyes with confidence and expectation because our redemption is drawing near.But what does “looking up” actually look like when life hurts?Recently, our prayer team received a message from a woman asking us to pray for her husband. Their marriage was struggling, but even deeper than that, she was carrying a burden for his salvation. You could feel both the heartbreak and hope in her words. She wasn’t asking us to pray for an easy life—she was asking us to pray for eternity to touch her home.And even through the pain, she said something powerful: “I’m not giving up.” She’s still praying.Still believing.Still trusting.Still looking up.Not long after that, another woman reached out asking us to pray for her sister who was battling terminal cancer. Doctors had told the family there were only days left, but they were still believing God for a miracle.The following day, we received another message. Her sister had gone home to be with Jesus. Even through deep grief, the family shared their gratitude that she was no longer suffering and asked us to continue praying for her husband and young daughter.As a prayer team, moments like that stay with you.Because sometimes this side of heaven doesn’t unfold the way we desperately hoped it would. Sometimes healing comes here. And sometimes healing comes fully and forever in the presence of Jesus.But even then—we look up.We look up by praying for grieving families.We look up by carrying one another’s burdens.We look up by reminding each other that this world is not our home.That’s the heartbeat of this community.Not pretending life is easy.Not ignoring pain.But choosing hope anyway because Jesus is coming soon.
