And actually, we were watching when sitting with Pearl Babia and watching Sesame street clips on YouTube, we got hit by so many that were from 2020 and during lockdown. And they really use that who are the heroes in your neighborhood thing to really, like, focus on, like, the essential workers. Like, just working at a grocery store during COVID like, made you a hero because you're risk. You're on the front lines, you're risking yourself, the nurses, all these different people. And she's like, the people are doing philanthropy.

And no, no. People who have a philanthropic desire. You don't even have to be doing it. You have a desire.

Okay. Can I tell you how mad this makes me? Because on Monday of this week, I went to Fill Abundance.

Which is a massive food pantry food assistance logistics network that's based in Philadelphia that serves the entire Delaware Valley, including helps over 200 or 300 other food pantries throughout our area, and is part of the Feeding America network, like, all across the country. And, like, talking to us about, like, how to help people and the way they are not, like, they do a lot of good work. They're known in the community, but they're not out here. Like, how can I be, like, highlighted as someone who has philanthropic desire?

There's no time.

They're doing the work.

People have full abundance. Are so fucking busy.

They're running 20.

Feeding the families of our area.

Like, the food insecurity in Philadelphia is crazy. Is it one in three?

No, it's a one in six. Kids across America are food insecure.

But in Philadelphia, one in three.

And so that's just the kids. We're not talking about seniors. We're not talking about anybody else. And so this was like this really. So hearing that, she was like, I'm in a 501, scene three. And we're. Anyone with philanthropic desires, we're going to highlight. I'm like, you are doing nothing.

She highlighted one program called the Romanian Angels Project.

Wait, I think I've heard something about this. What? When I was on Tik Tok and they hit you with the doom, doom, doom conspiracy music. Okay, what? Okay, I know what. I think I know what Candace has said about this. What have you found about Romanian Angels?

The Romanian Angels is a program that worked with the United States Marine Corps to help and sponsor an orphanage in Romania.

What do we not have American Orphans.

We do. We just. That feels crazy.

Also, the name Romanian Angels is bad because it makes me. Me think that the orphan passed away.

I've seen the same TikToks and Instagram Reels about how Erica Kirk allegedly is part of a human trafficking Romanian ring with orphans. Blah, blah, blah, blah. All the research I tried to do on it is immediately a pipeline. Because once you start looking into human trafficking stuff, it gets crazy.

It gets qan. And immediately it's hard to find any things about it. Everything I found that people were saying about how Erica Kirk was involved, she would have had to been 12. Like, the timelines don't add up. Right. I think it's debunked. I think it's just conspiracy theory. Like, there is human trafficking in Romania. I think just because she was a part of it. She was not. I'm not saying she's part of it. Just because she was working with a program that was in Romania. They're trying to say it, but I couldn't see any proof. And also, every time I tried to look for it, it gets so bananas on the Internet that it's a waste of my time.

Because it's just like, you just hammered the entire time. Like, getting an ASU university, like, like, degree is virtually meaningless in, like, that sort of way. Even though it's a state school, like, it's just viewed.

Is there one of those parties? There's a party school like that in Delaware, right?

I don't know about Delaware.

No, one of my girlfriends went to a party school.

And I was like, babe, you do not need to Go to college for that. No, I was like, you want a restaurant management job, you just go get a job at a restaurant, stay there for two years, Boom, you're the manager.

And if you want to study cruises, you just go apply for a job. They'll take anybody they'll take. And it's incredible.

And then she was like, she was like, well, no, but like, it's a really great place to like network and meet people. I was like, you don't need to network in the restaurant.

That's the thing. Meeting, networking at asu.

That's one of the big things with colleges. And I don't think people understand this. A lot of people don't understand what the need for the degree is.

The piece of paper says one thing. You're certified to do these things for certain things. Right. But the rest of it is going to be the networking that you're going to be able to get to launch yourself further in the life for like these networking nodes.

So if you go to like a big Ivy League, like let's say Harvard or Yale.

[Mrs. P]

Right.

[Pearl]

And you're one of the lucky ones who can get out of lower middle class or lower class situation, you can get to Harvard.

What that gets you is into a network of your rich roommate's dad.

[Mrs. P]

Yes.

There's a possibility that you can go back for spring break to your rich roommate's dad's house and meet him. And then someday when you have a resume, you can reach out to your buddy who can then, you know, like, yeah, I my friends with like Dr. Johnson from Johnson and Johnson.

Yeah.

Oh, okay. Well then they can get you an internship that can get you a little bit deeper in there.

[Mrs. P]

Yeah.

Versus if you're going to asu, it's like, oh, who do you know? Well, I know this guy who can do a fucking. Listen. A Jaeger luge.

Yeah.

Well, that guy sounds pretty cool. I have engineering.

I have a minor in gravity bongs. Like, this is like where like. And like. And this is coming from somebody who has like shit degrees and we have associate's degrees. Like all these different things. Like, there's a difference of like what the college springboard of what that gives you. And I'm not saying don't go, but this is just a thing to keep in mind of when you're processing of like what you're looking for is there is the technical knowledge that you can get, you can get at most of the colleges.

That isn't the thing, people. It's really going to be the networking on how you can when you're moving forward in life. Because are you going to stay around? Are you in a sorority or a fraternity?

So instead we'll just create a university where we can teach kids how to argue that evolution shouldn't be taught in schools, that type of thing. And so Liberty University is the. Is one of the big backbones in behind the legal fight, behind people like Donald Trump, like the Christian nationalist movement to try to take over and has taken over America. And so many of the different evil things that you hear of whenever you look into the guy who's writing that document's backstory, Liberty University shows up somewhere. They've all at least passed through these halls once, even if it's just for a conference.

This feels just like Jersey Shore for the end of Long Island.

Yes, that is exactly what it is. It's just rich kids instead of slightly trashy Italians. Exactly. You know what? I think only Pauly D. Was Italian or Vinnie, one of those.

Well, a lot. A lot of they were pretend. There were a lot of Italian stereotypes. There are a lot of times stereotypes on the Jersey shore, but they were

being stereotyped by people that were pretending to be Italian. It was Very strange.

Yeah, I know. The whole thing was weird. The whole entire thing was word. But I've never watched Summer.

But I did watch all of Jersey Shore.

And so the past two weeks, Summer House has been going viral. This is why it was top of mind for me.

Because when I saw Summer House, I was like, what do you mean? Because what's happening on Summer House is there's this woman named Amanda and Kai Kyle, her boyfriend Kyle. They were two main cast members.

They started dating early in the show season and they're very rough, dynamic. There are a lot of fighting, a lot of drunken, a lot of. They're a mismatch for sure. They got very different personality.

This feels like a show I would never watch. It feels like a show that I'd walk in. If you were watching on probably. It's Bravo, so it's probably Hulu. If I walked in and you were watching this, I would walk in and go, ugh. And then grab my Nintendo Switch and leave.

Yes, absolutely. That would be what happened.

And so Kyle and Amanda, very tumultuous relationship for many seasons.

But they got married and whatever. And this season they are officially broken up. I believe they're potentially filing for divorce.

But this season is like been filmed during this breakup process. So it's like people are. Are locked the.

Because things are being dramatic. Things are being revealed.

Being a real dick, she kind of is so over it and not trying to chase him. So it's like all the clips, I'm like, this is dynamic. Right? But then here's the crazy thing, right? There's Amanda's best friend's name is Sierra. Okay.

Now Sierra used to date a different guy in the house. His name is West. Okay. Now he's. You can't see it. He's upset and he wish he could walk away, but he can't because this is being recorded.

[Mrs. P]

Okay. So Sierra and Amanda are best friends and Sierra used to date west. And they had a tumultuous thing. Right.

[Pearl]

[Mrs. P]

Where Wes was like, really Trying to get with Sierra and she was like, I don't want to get together because people have really used me in the past because I feel as though I'm over sexualized as a black woman and I don't want to participate in that and blah, blah. And he really pursued her and he really pursues her and I guess at the end of one season they finally get together and then he immediately like cuts it off with her and it's like, it's just like, like he sucks. It's like sucky sounds like a bad person. He's a bad person.

Okay.

[Mrs. P]

And so then there's like more seasons because they're all court characters. So like they, they have this dynamic where they're working.

[Pearl]

So they. This is one of those things where if these were actually friends and actually people who knew each other by this point, none of them would be talking.

But because there's a contractual outcome obligation for them to return to this house every single summer. Like some sort of purgatory style nightmare.

It keeps going.

It's like the reason why you should just delete your Facebook. Your Facebook friends that you've had since elementary school because no one should know what somebody you sat behind in third grade thinks about politics right now. You move far away or they move far away or just you don't talk to them anyway. Why the would you let them comment on your kids pictures?

But reality. This reason why I don't watch shows like this is because I've worked at a bar.

Okay. So literally when I was writing this, I've been writing this episode for two days now. I did hours and hours of research all weekend. And then on Monday, Tuesday, I sat down, I was like, let me get my notes together. And I wrote all about Amanda and Kyle. And I was like, this is what you need to understand. But here's what happened yesterday. The Amanda released a joint statement with west saying that they are potentially get. They have gotten together because rumors have been swirling that they have started dating. And then they had to release a joint statement which says everything. And it's not apologetic. They're like, we just like need a time to like figure out because we're such close friends, blah, blah. The thing is, is Sierra and Amanda are best friends and Amanda knows all the shit that Wes put Sierra through. True. Right. So this is so up. This is up on so many levels.

That I could do a whole dissertation on it. And I know that you're thinking, I don't know who she's talking about. These people mean nothing to me.

You. Like, I think any other company, if the CEO of the company passes away, the board of directors would then figure out who the new CEO was in term was.

Until one could be duly elected, it wouldn't be the spouse. Like, you. You have to think of any other company. Like, if the head of Campbell Soup passed away, they wouldn't look at his wife Mary and be like, you're in charge now. No, the. The board of directors would have to get together. They'd find someone to hold it in term, and then they would elect and have in job interviews people that are like, like, qualified to run this huge nonprofit company.

Because she's not qualified. No, she's not qualified at all. And every leak that comes out shows it in that sort of way. And it's not. But here's the thing.

All these different things. I think that Charlie had a better idea of where the culture was, where it was going, all these different things. And he met, you know, he met Erica and he was like, here is somebody who will be not a problem for me. You know, I think that was the one thing is. It was.

He looked at it. He had a job interview, and he was like, this is. It's a job interview.

Yeah, no, exactly. But you know, it is. It's like when Tom Cruise and Scientology. Girlfriends and wives and like that.

And that was all being set up for potentially maybe a presidential run someday or a Senate run or something like that, where if he wanted to give up power, he could go into politics.

Because he was at a point. There was a point there with Charlie where he was like. And it's especially since his assassination, where he clearly was. What's the word I'm looking for? Not a retaining wall. What's the thing in a building you're not supposed to take down?

Yeah. Keystone is part of it, in the arch. But also, you know, when like, you're remodeling a kitchen and like, don't knock that wall Down.

Yep. So recently, what started this whole episode, a comedian named Drew Ski made fun of her or made fun of all conservative women, really. Because it was how conservative women in America act.

That's what he titled it. It wasn't how Erica Kirk acts.

Yes. And she's clearly the archetype.

Is what I'm gonna say on that one. And the Internet is not taking it well. The. The conservative Internet, they're taking it very personal. Personal attack. And a lot of it is like, well, if he can do white face, we should be able to do blackface.

And Jamie Kennedy, literally unstoppable in that one. Posted it himself. Weirdo. But I did want to just, like, take a minute to kind of briefly jump into the history of blackface so that people might understand why you are not supposed to do it. And it's not okay. Because all I keep seeing in the comments section is people being like, well, if he can do whiteface, we should be allowed to do blackface.

Full stop. And I think we just need a quick history lesson, because this is a comedy history podcast, and we need to add some history. We need a little history on this,

The first minstrel shows were performed in 1830s New York by white performers with blackened faces, mostly using burnt cork or shoe polish. They would wear tattered clothing to imitate enslaved Africans or that were living on Southern plantations. These performances Were characterized would characterize black people as lazy, ignorant, superstitious, hypersexual and prone to thievery and cowardice. Thomas Dartmouth Rice was known as the father of Minstrel. Minstrel Lee. Minstrel with a Y at the end.

He developed Minstrel Lee.

Yeah, it's hard to say. Developed the first popular known blackface character named Jim Crow in 1830.

And this is in New York.

So this actually starts in New York.

Then spreads to the south, then comes back to New York.

Yes. Blackface is a historically racist practice where white performers darken their skin to mock and dehumanize African Americans. White face usually refers to white theatrical makeup used by clowns.

Well, he's been held back for a very long time.

[Mrs. P]

Yeah.

He wants to come out. Wants to come out, folks.

The. The biggest difference when looking at these different things again, it's when we're talking about all racism, there's the object of power, there's the object of mockery. And the thing is, is when Drew Ski puts on whiteface or. Or when the Wayans brothers did White Face.

For white girls.

[Mrs. P]

Yeah.

[Pearl]

Or when Eddie Murphy did all these other different things you never see. Or even Dave Chappelle. Yeah. You don't see them as making fun of really all whites. You see them as making fun of a specific person.

Or a specific genre with blackface. Like if you. The Jamie Kennedy clip that he posted, he immediately is doing an accent. He's immediately playing it up as the character is somehow dumber and that just inherently by having darker skin, that there's somehow they are stupid or evil or. Or over sexualized a lot of times, all these different things. And I think in this case with the Drew Ski thing, he is really pointing out the hypocrisy of everything talked about. This week on Crashing Out. This was part of the Drew Ski skit, is part of a series of skits that he's been doing about the hypocrisy around religion, especially mega church religions of the sacrifice South.

Where he has a whole line in there about how you're asking why I'm wearing Christian Dior and wearing Christian Louboutins. Because I'm a Christian and I walk in the blood of Christ and he shows the bottom of his red shoes. This is part of all of those types of different things. And the fact that immediately, just like when there's debates around the N word, that immediately conservatives and Nazis and all these other people, the second they see it, they immediately go, oh, well, then I. I should be allowed to do this horrible thing that was used to do in the past. Yeah, that says a lot. Yeah, it says a lot real fast.

So what's Erica Kirk up to now?

[Pearl]

I don't know. What?

Okay, so recently President Donald Trump appointed Erica Kirk to the United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors, which I said, I don't know what the that is. So I looked it up. The US Air Force Academy Board of Visitors is established to inquire into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, and fiscal affairs of matters relating to the academy. The Air Force Academy, which the board decides and makes considerations on.

So Erica Kirk is basically on the PTA board for the Air Force. Yes, the Parent Teacher association of the Air Force. While the Air Force is arguably at their most important moment in the history of the organization.

Yeah.

In the middle of a war that he said he was never going to start that was only supposed to last three days. That we've now enter month two on.
