D
I am unashamed. What about you?
A
Welcome back to Unashamed. So I'm calling today Jay's testosterone day because we've got young people that still have high testosterone levels.
D
Well, I commented when John. We have John Luke and Christian. When I saw John Luke, he stuck his head in here, which I thought there was some kind of duck commander announcement or something.
A
He said a duck made an emergency. Only you show up during emergency emergencies.
D
I'm only here during emergencies. John Luke, you're not aging. You look the same as you did 10 years ago.
A
Yeah.
D
Your beard is slightly more full. A little more full, but you look the same. So I think.
A
And you're not quite 30, right? 29.
D
29, yeah. I will be 30.
A
You still have the youthful glow.
D
Yeah.
A
How old are you, Christian? 27. 27. So we've expanded for those of you to know because. So John Luke and Christian are here for our open today because we starting tomorrow we've got our expanded unashamed. It's. It's unashamed for Hillsdale and it's a podcast, the second podcast that we're doing under this kind of unashamed banners act and we do it. No Jace. So you know, we're without Jace's stories. Believe it or not, we can still make it. It's hard.
D
I'm like medicine. I'm better in small doses.
A
So mega dose Chase will not be a part of these discussions.
D
But Don Luke, you look confused about that. But look, if you take it has a little that's very small writing on the back and it's like only take the amount that they recommend, but I'm like, why put that so small here?
A
Yeah, it should be bigger. Bigger. You're like. You're like the small doses. But it says you can take it four times a day.
D
Yeah, four times. That's it. But not too much at one time.
A
Not too much.
D
Yeah.
A
And so we, so we. We start. That podcast is going to release on Fridays, and we're super excited about it. I. I love doing it with you guys, and it's a lot of fun. I love getting the younger perspective because we had like, four different decades represented. Zach's, you know, in his 40s. Jack, are you still in your 40s?
B
Yeah, I got a few years left in my 40s.
A
And then you hesitated.
D
Zach, what is the problem? I mean, did you have to think how old you were now?
B
I was thinking about that low testosterone you mentioned earlier. I was thinking as my testosterone is.
A
Always low, it's lower than. You just don't get the numbers. But trust me, it's low. Yeah, I don't know, because we have. We have our friend Kyle Thompson coming on later, and he's a high teeth.
B
He's got a high teeth.
A
Oh, for sure. He's, he's. He's. He's almost 40, but it's like he's going on 28.
D
So really not sure what we're talking.
A
About here, but we're talking about. We want the audience. We want our regular unashamed audience to check out our Hillsdale podcast starting tomorrow. But we really want you to take it with us. I tell them a little bit about kind of the setup and how it works.
B
Well, it's kind of funny because we had all four of us on which John Lick. You're. What are you, 29?
D
I'm 29. I will be 30. Yeah.
B
So we'll say.
A
We'll say the saves there.
D
You can say 30, because I will be 30 when it's coming out.
A
Yeah.
B
So Al's the late 50s, early. I'm 60s, he's 60 now I'm in the 40s. John Luke's in the 30s. How old are you, Christian?
A
27. Zachary. Which was interesting because he doesn't listen. He's like. It's like when you go to North Carolina, I mean, he's piped in, he's got the head.
B
I just forgot.
D
Well, this is a good lesson for you. If y' all gonna do a podcast with him. I want to. I want to say something. And usually you would do this when he's not in the room, but right now, What I'm going to tell you doesn't affect him because when you're talking, he's thinking about what he's fixing to.
A
Say or looking at something.
B
Jace, that is the pot going to.
D
Kettle black.
A
Literally is checking his stocks while Zach is talking. Hey, you guys are in it.
B
You're innocent. And all this. What is your take on that?
A
Who.
B
Who do you think is actually thinking about what they're going to say next? For me or, you know, it's both.
D
Well, I already said I'm like medicine. I can't throw myself under the bus anymore. It's okay. The real reason I'm not a part of that is because I like to chase rabbits and find these thread lines in. In the whole Bible.
A
He's a treasure hunter.
D
When you have a book like Genesis that has 50 chapters, oh, my goodness.
A
You never get. And we did it, Jace. We did it in six podcasts.
D
Yeah.
A
So, I mean, that's why we could never do it with Jays, because we would be doing Genesis for the next five years.
B
But it was funny because you guys had. Everybody had different ways they. Because we take the course. It's a free course you can get at Hillsdale. So what we're asking is this. Go watch the lecture, and then there'll be like a lecture associated with the episode. So we'll do the lecture one in the first episode, and it's all free. And there's no ads in the episodes either, which is nice. It's at unashamed for hillsdale.com and you can sign up for free, but. And take the courses with us. But it was funny. We all took notes because we went through the course and Al comes in with a. With a notebook. I have my laptop.
A
Handwritten notes. Yeah, you had handwritten notes.
B
I have my laptop.
D
John Lake. What'd you have? An iPad?
B
John. They kind of. And then Christian pulls out his phone.
A
He's like, well, we're all represented. And we had. You could literally see the generational approach.
D
Did y' all figure out what would be the testosterone level of Methuselah right before he died? What was he now that.
A
Well, you know, that would have been. See, that's the. That's the stuff he thinks about. That's where he goes on the.
D
Well, I'm just saying, you started talking about that these people were living nine.
A
Almost a thousand years. So his middle age, like 450.
D
Well, that's the way my brain thought about it. But somehow I don't think you think.
A
He was youthful right up until he was a thousand years old.
D
I don't know. I'm just saying. I think we try to rationalize it in our finite mind.
C
Was he having like a midlife crisis at 500?
D
Yeah.
A
He get a new camel and it's like, you know, I'm going to get a little Sportier Camel. I'm 500. I mean, I'm just out there.
D
But it shows you the power of God because he's like, I'm going to remove some of my power and they're, they're going to be whatever it's. I think it says 120.
A
Well, I've always thought. And we may have talked to him.
D
Genesis, he says, they'll. They'll now be 120.
A
Yeah.
D
And then, then in Psalms, it's like gets down to 70. So I guess we had another.
A
I think Abraham was 150. He got a little extra.
D
But he had a kid at 100.
A
Well, right. I mean, yeah. And was that. I mean, obviously he was cable. Right. So he, he was. Hati. He was 100 years old. He's still, he's still got damage. Abraham had high tea. Yeah. He was happy. He was good.
D
Well, it always, it always fascinates me because people are like, well, we're living longer, you know, And I'm like, not really. If you take Genesis into account.
A
Yeah.
D
So there's that.
A
Yeah. And then in, what is it, Psalm 90, which, which Moses wrote, he says, he's the first one that said 70 years, 80 if you have the strength. I mean, Moses wrote that song. So even in his lifetime, which would have been a couple of thousand years before Christ, 4,000 years from us, he was basically saying, we get about what we have now.
D
How did he know that?
A
How did he know that? That's exactly right. And the, and the life expectancy would have been shorter probably anyway, but he, you know, later on in time, I mean, you go through periods of time where life expectancy is like 30 something years old. I mean, y' all would be old men.
D
Yeah.
A
To live to 30. So it's crazy. Pretty crazy.
D
Exactly.
B
Well, you know, Abraham, Abraham had to have had a high tea because what, in Genesis 12:14, he, he was about probably 75 to 80 years old when he, when he went in, when he raised up the. He had the 300 something trained man. You remember the story.
A
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He rode into battle.
D
He was basically doing what I'm doing to Willie's son in laws.
A
And I want to mention that because you, you play, you've your own. One of your roles in the. What do they call it? The Duck Dynasty. The revival. Yeah. I keep on said the revolution. It's not a revolution. Revival is that you're kind of part of this, like bringing these boys along.
D
I'm not kind of part of it. Ow.
A
Look, I mean, are y' all intimidated by Jace? That's what I'm wondering.
D
It seemed like it when we first got out there. I mean, I'll let you.
A
Yeah, no, you definitely are. Well, because I think. I think you're intimidating from this. From the. From the standpoint of even if you did something good, you still would have said it was bad. So I think it's intimidating from the standpoint of there's wow.
D
Like, wow. Even if.
A
Even if we, like did something well, it still would have been critiqued. So I think you're intimidating in that. In that aspect.
D
It's called constructive criticism.
B
You got to learn his love language. If he says something like, well, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen. That translation. That's awesome.
D
Well, what Christian didn't realize.
A
I've had better.
D
So look, so I'm gonna. I'm gonna give you the insights here on how to D. Yuppify a segment of the population, which is what your. Your father in law commissioned me to do this before the show even came about. He's like, yeah, why don't you take them and you know, just show them how to survive in the woods? Which I translated that to D. Yup. Ifa. They rough them up a little bit because, I mean, they're. They're not going anywhere. So that was his speech to me.
A
Yeah, that's fair.
D
That's how this started. So I went the Jesus model, which is. He asked way more questions than he received.
A
Right.
D
So when this, our first scene started, I just asked a simple question. Since you're part of a company called Duck Commander and they make duck calls. And I was like, why. Why do we blow a duck call? And you. And who was the other one? Jacob. Jacob. Yeah. It was just crickets.
A
Just think about it.
D
You're part of this company.
A
You're married into it.
D
So I took that to mean whatever you thought you knew because y' all didn't even give me an answer.
A
It was just like silence.
D
I don't know is what I translated that to me. So that's why I came across a little more harshly because I thought, boy, this is worse than I anticipated.
A
Well, your questions had. Well, your questions had multiple. Because one of one of the things you asked was like. Like, what's the. Like, what's the most important thing about hunting? Or why do you hunt? And I think my answer was like to have fun or something like that. But your answer was survival. I was like, it's, you know, just to have fun. Well, he. The way he describes it on the podcast, like a mating ritual. I mean, he hunts so that his wife sleep with him.
D
It's like, that is what we're doing. I mean, we're offering the greatest love language in the water. Foul world. This is.
A
My wife will have sex with me. Yeah. It's just bizarre.
D
He wants high tea, Al.
A
He's trying to get that tea. Exactly why I said, that's the theme of this podcast today. That's exactly.
D
Y' all are laughing. But you don't realize somehow we're convincing these wild ducks to come to our party and nothing's real, but we simply gave them a speech and somebody went, ooh, I like her. So whatever I said communicated bonding, love. And boy, it'll. That's biblical, Al. It's like an ox going to the slaughter. Read Proverbs 7.
A
Oh, my God.
B
I feel like there's an inner feel being channeled here.
A
It is. We've tapped into this.
D
I can back this up by pure, unadulterated scripture, John.
A
Lou, you grew up. So are you part of the. Are you on the show? Are you part of this little flash?
D
I'm on the show, but I'm not in the.
A
Oh, you're not in that logo. Okay.
D
Well, he had one. There was one guest appearance in this thread line because he said that he's like, look, we're going to. Now just literal flesh and blood.
A
Yeah.
D
And so we. We had a night in the swamp, and it was kind of a generational thing. Yeah. Because you had your son.
C
My son was there.
A
Yeah.
D
And I was kind of in charge of. Of training on this operation, so. But that actually went well. They did better than the son in laws in that moment.
A
But.
D
But having said all that, I think from where you were to where we're.
A
At now, there's been progress.
D
Well, you got to feel pretty good about yourself.
A
Yeah.
D
I mean, I do.
A
I feel a lot better than where we started. Every show needs a foil and a villain, too. And so Jace fills that role beautifully.
D
No, I'm now impressed. I mean, the. The process has been.
A
Stone is the villain.
C
Yeah.
A
Stone's a villain. Yeah. No doubt about it. Yeah. Just by nature, he wakes up in the villain. By nature.
D
It works.
A
Out. So I will say. I will say this because we got to go. But you guys are great on the podcast. I love your perspective. I love us doing it together. John Lucas, I call him same thing on Duck Dynasty. The original in this one as well. Sneaky funny is what I call him. Like he's. Because he's kind of straight laced and nerdy and smart. But he's sneaky funny too, because he'll. He'll just throw one in there. And he especially does it to Christian, which I love. You get me a good one early on in the podcast. Yeah. Which is really good. So we want you to check it out. Does that tell them where they can see it again before these guys go?
B
Well, you. You can watch it wherever you. You're currently watching it, but we also want you to sign up and take the course with us, which is @unashamed for hillsdale.com that's unashamed for hillsdale.com.
A
Yeah, take the course. The material is great. The professor is fantastic. We're getting geared up for our next thing to do because we're gonna do several of these classes and several podcasts this year. So, you know, if you guys love it, we'll keep doing it because we enjoy it and I love the learning. I learned a lot from Dr. Jackson. So encourage you guys. Check it out every Friday. Unashamed for Hillsdale and John, Luke and Christian. Love you guys. Thanks for coming on. Thanks for having us. All right, we'll take a break and we'll bring in more high tea.
B

A
So Zach, Lisa and I had a super bad experience on buying a property down in Gulf Shores. And the main reason why was this big, huge company that develops things down there. But there was personal opportunity, you know, to have a decent conversation. It was always these just people we've never heard of. I wish I had known about Sierra Pacific before we bought that property, but I know about them now.
B
Call Andrew Del Rey and Todd Abakey and the guys I trust, and they can help you too. Call Triple 8, Triple 8, 1172. That's Triple 8, Triple 8, 11 72. Or visit andrewandtod.com Again, that's andrewandtod.com.
A
Welcome back to Unashamed. We lost two use, but we gained one better.
C
And do I have the combined testosterone of those two?
A
I would say probably yes. Just looking at.
D
Okay. They were all talking of their ages.
B
But, you know, I think Christian's probably certainly hot tea.
A
He's a big old boy. Oh, he is. There's no doubt.
D
You in your 30s, 39. Okay.
A
Yeah. He's hanging on 40.
C
Yeah.
D
You're like in between us.
A
So Kyle Thompson is here. For those of you listening, I always, I forget sometimes if you're not watching that you would know this, but Kyle has been on before. Undaunted Life is his podcast was one of our brother podcasts, I'd call it.
C
That's right.
A
Instead of sister. But he, he. So it mainly is aimed at men and what he does, but it's really, really good. Which I want you to tell our audience again because you're always picking up new people. But you come down usually once a year and are on our podcast and then one of us usually does yours. Dad has done yours in the past, which was really great. So I always enjoy the visit because usually come down and spend the weekend with us. And he does jiu jitsu, so instantly he's a big hit in my household because most of my grandkids and son in law are into that.
C
Yeah, I feel like instead of rugs, y' all should just have mats out in all your different rooms because, like fights just spontaneously break out like in.
A
The middle of dinner when Zach and his crew comes down, they Just go right into it. You know, they're just looking for a new dummy to roll with.
B
Yeah.
A
A new vector. It's good for you, but. And last night we came. Or that may is the first night you came. We came in to eat. And so around the dinner table, which is like 12 chairs because they have a big area in there, there's all the geese. Everything's drying out. You know, he's like, this is my kind of household.
C
Yeah, it's the kind of house that you need. But that's the thing is my goal now is every year I come down is just to peel off another family member to get them to start training. And so Stone's wife, he's trying to.
A
Work on me, but I told him it ain't happening.
C
Well, we're in the same weight class now.
A
Well, we are.
C
Right. So we weigh the ex right now. So we're basically the same thing. Right. So we're like the same creature.
A
Yeah.
C
We'll get you a ghee. We'll get you. We'll get you squared away, Jace. I mean, come on, now you're wrestling frogs.
D
And you heard. You were listening when these. These young youth, I was a commandeer to train them in the outdoors.
C
Yeah.
D
So at some point in all of that, I met Jay up at the Jiu Jitsu, Jim. And so they thought, oh, I'm fixed. I'm fixed to get back at OJ's. And I was like, nope. I said, I'm training of the mind. I'm changing you from the inside out. That is my department.
A
Oh, he tried to goad you for a while, didn't he? Because he wanted to work.
D
They thought. Yeah, they thought that's what was going to happen. But I was like, I started quoting Bible verses. The weapons I fight with are not the ways of the world. So everybody's got to know their role.
A
That's why I told Kyle, though. It's like Jay at first tried to get me to come, and I realized it's his school, and he's a. He's an owner and all this. He's trying to expand, and it is good for people. I'm pro Jiu Jitsu, but I was like, you are the worst poster for Jiu Jitsu, because every night you come in, you're hurt. Like, he's always constantly. Jay is constantly hurt because he started this later in life, and he's rolling out here with these young people, and like Kyle. He won't even hardly do anything with Kyle anymore. He's like, oh, he'll hurt me. And so I'm like, I don't. Like I live my life now to not get hurt. Like, everything I do is cautious. I don't even do that.
C
But Al, Al, you get to choose your pain, right? So you get the pain of non use of your body. You get the pain of use of your body, the pain of not knowing how to fight, the pain of knowing how to fight. It's just better to know how to fight, you see? So you just, like, you just recategorize.
A
I'm just going to choose no pain.
D
So I fight with words and I tell them. I'm like. But I have. I'm pretty good with weapons and I'm better from distance.
C
Do you have a weapon on you now? Because the distance is that far between us. Just in case things go poorly.
D
I'm also very quick.
C
As we saw in the recent frog hunting video.
A
We still got it.
D
Saw me sacrifice.
A
You watched that last.
D
And I think we shared for the.
C
Sake of Ms. K. Right. She needed frog legs, and you went out there and made it happen.
A
That that was the funniest thing about the bite because they released it yesterday was what you've talked about on the podcast was that you said, I did this for my mom. And then they show this picture of mom, which is hilarious. It's like, then you were talking about if we get two from Ms. K and it pops up, you know, if we get eight was for Jason.
D
Then, yeah, I had a little segue because Jay was really funny because I thought, okay, well, we need at least two for. And then I'm thinking I'm good for six because I hadn't had frogs in forever and I'm the one doing the sacrifice in here. But Jay was looking like, what about me? And so I was like, anything over 8, you get involved.
A
Which he didn't. Because you ate them.
D
He didn't. No, I had them. I cooked them. And then I said, I got the frogs ready. And he said, well, I called him up. He said, well, me and Anna went out to eat and I gave him this. Shows you you're never too old to get a life lesson. I said, you messed up when you went out to eat. So I gave K4 and I9 because we had 13.
A
Well, Jason, you didn't tell Jay because I announced to him last night your pronouncement on the podcast that that officially retired you from the front of the boat. Jay did not know that.
D
Yep. And I haven't told him, but it's.
A
And I said, did not say last night you witnessed it. I said, Jay's, in my opinion is. Is probably the greatest all time frog catcher in our family. And I never saw really dad doing it because that was kind of, you know, but I'm sure.
D
Well, he trained right people and.
A
Well, I was always a motor.
D
Oh, that was a part of.
A
I was never a catcher.
D
That was a part of my retirement because I thought back to my dad.
A
Yeah.
D
I thought at some point, pretty slick. At one point he's back there on the back of the boat running the motor because the motor is, is a. Because a good motorman.
A
Because you missed two in the video. And, and it was the motor man's fault.
D
Yeah, he too slow. Oh, I, I told him I'm sure they didn't run.
C
At one point you look behind, you're like, why aren't you going?
A
Yeah, oh, that's in there.
D
You're like, you, you failure to engage. And so. But he was worried about the equipment. And that's when you go frog hunting. Which, you know what you what I train young men. We're not worried about that piece of equipment that is to be used. Now. We don't want to be stupid, but if you have to go get the frog, that's just part of the sacrifice that we may rip the lower unit off of this motor. And I'm, I put my speech, you know, where my heart is. Because that when that frog jumped, even though I didn't want to jump, I knew the rule is if he jumps, you jump. And when I landed, that's when the retirement thought hit in my mind because I thought, I'm not sure I can get up.
A
Yeah.
D
After this.
A
I told, I told you last night. So do you, do y'. All. Have you ever been program.
C
Nope.
A
Did they do it in Oklahoma? I mean, have you ever heard.
C
Yeah, that's. There's all kinds of stuff in Oklahoma that I didn't. Because I mean, I was playing sports and doing school and like no one in my family did outdoor stuff. Like, you know, we didn't hunt, we didn't fish, we didn't camp.
A
We duck on that because you see.
C
Yeah. Yeah. So that's what I was telling some of the guys outside to where it's like, okay, so I'm learning all that stuff in my 30s and into my 40s because I got a 5 year old and a 3 year old son. And so like last night I FaceTimed him and I said, hey, Jay's got to show you something. And then he, you know, Blew into a duck call. And they just, like, they thought that was the coolest thing in the entire world that a guy can make, you know, a duck sound or something like that. And so I want to figure that stuff out so that my boys, you know, have a chance to grow up with it to where it's not.
A
Because now duck hunting, the. The flat. Our theory is the flyaway has now moved over because we don't see as many ducks as we used to. But you guys, you're in Oklahoma. They're in prime territory. I mean, that's where the. All the ducks seem to be. Oklahoma, Texas.
C
Yeah. Here, Arkansas. I got friends that go up to Arkansas and do a lot of trips. And so, you know, it's just part of. It's just a humility thing because, like, with undaunted life, you get any manner of guys that kind of come in there. And sometimes you got a little bit of an ego thing. But I just encourage guys all the time. Don't pretend like you know something that you don't, because you're stealing an opportunity from somebody to show you something. Like, imagine somebody coming into Jiu jitsu and pretending like they know how to do Jiu Jitsu. It's gonna be pretty apparent pretty quickly whether or not they actually do. Same thing with duck hunting. Same thing with working on engines. Same things with, you know, you know, operating on the water. Like, if you don't know what you're doing, just be like, hey, I'm dumb, but I'm also a spongebob. Like, let show me. Like, teach me. And so he's sitting there, we're in the duck call room, and we're in the duck shop, and he's showing me different. Different calls and how to use them. And. Okay, this was Phil's idea with this one. And. Okay, well, Jase actually made this one. And this is what he likes about this. And imagine me being like, oh, yeah, well, I've seen that before when I hadn't. Like, that's just ridiculous. Like, just sit there, just be willing to learn, be humble, and just go for it.
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah.
A
Watch and learn.
D
Well, that's the thing about even frogs. I mean, 70% of them. It looks easy. You saw after that first one.
C
Yeah, you made it look there and.
D
You know, you catch them. What separates the. The real frog hunters is when danger makes itself apparent and then you overcome. I mean, I have about three moments where I went to the next level. I mean, one is we. We look down, there's a huge frog there, but we can't get to him because the water was shallow. So we pull up on the bank, but somebody got to shine another lights. And they're like, is that a cottonmouth? And I was like, oh. So there was a cottonmouth in between me and the frog. Well, they look to the right, there's another cottonmouth. They look to the right of that, there's another cottonmouth and then the frog. So everybody's just being silent, like, well, can't get him. And I thought, this is where the true frog hunter has to come up. So I turned around and I said, boys, there's an event in the Olympics that is worldwide. It's called the triple jump. And people, they get medals and they're celebrated. If I pull this off, if I pull this off now, this ought to.
A
Be an Olympic event.
D
Put a copy. I'm going to. Here's what I'm going to do. Because the problem with the cottonmouth is that on the backside, if I. If I get on the backside and make the. By the time they turn around to strike, I'm gone.
B
Are you ready to go old school?
A
I love old schools. I live for old school.
B
Back in the day, chips, if you ate chips, they were fried in something called beef tallow. That's how it was done up until actually the 1990s. They swapped out the beef tallow for that cheap processed seed oils which have been linked to inflammation and a lot of health problems. And that's why I like beef tallow, because it actually tastes, and I mean, it's absolutely incredible. And I want to say about a chip that we're now eating, a tortilla chip called masa. Masa has brought that tradition back with a tortilla chip made from just three ingredients. Very simple. Sea salt, 100% grass fed beef tallow, and nixtamalli corn.
A
So, Zach, I thought I meant make America savory again because they're so delicious. And you see, I've got in front of me, if you're watching the ad, I've got four different flavors here of these chips, and my grandkids love them.
B
We can't keep them in stock at my house. Put them on the table, boom, they were gone instantly. These chips don't just avoid all the bad stuff, guys. They taste incredible, too. Masa chips have more crunch, more flavor. Snacking on masa chips feels totally different than regular chips because you feel light, not weighted down. No sluggish crash, no bloating. Masa chips, they're beloved by tens of thousands of customers. They've been endorsed by industry leading health and nutrition experts. Ready to give Masa a try? Go to masachhips.comrobertson and use code robertson for 25 off your first order. That's masachips.comrobertson and code robertson for 25 OFF your first order. That's Masa. M A S A chips.comrobertson and Code robertson for 25 OFF YOUR first order.
D
Because I knew the bank was firm and so I just did it. I turned my hat around backwards. I took off and went 1, 2. When I hit the third launch point, the frog jumped sideways and then I dove and caught the frog.
A
And did you ever look back to see what the snakes were doing?
D
Oh, yeah, they never moved. Which I thought was pretty incredible. Yeah, you know, they just never moved. I don't think they never seen elements too fast. You know, it was the element of surprise. I mean, what is that? And it was so quick. Of course I walked all the way back around because now I alerted them that I'm in the area and boy, we hooped and hollered and high five and. And I like the element of danger. I mean there's a thin line between being courageous and stupid.
A
But I thought it would cross that line. But you know, I wasn't there, so. So I'm not going to do.
D
This is what you start doing when you retire.
A
You start telling now you start telling the glory days.
D
Like, yeah, okay, that happened and people witnessed it and they thought, okay, that's.
A
Next level, the triple.
C
Is that going to be part of Christian and the rest of the crew like you bringing them up in the ways of non yuppiness or whatever you were saying?
A
Oh, that would be a great.
D
The whole theme line is this training. And you know, people think reality tv, oh, they're making this up. No, this is real, actual occurrences. We're just doing it.
A
So like today, Stone had already started this with them like some years back, like when they came in the family.
D
Oh, we had a meeting, me and Jay and was like, you know, we need to. Because we need, we need their youth and energy and basically their sweat. And they, they still.
A
They're high teeth. That's right.
D
They're not smart enough to get it. They don't realize they just need a.
C
Little bit of molding.
D
This teaching is actually doing a bunch of work that we don't want to.
A
Do and which is what dad did to us. Right. Remember, he was so good at it.
C
Look, look, that's why you have sons.
A
Yeah, we would be be down there just hosing Something, you know, and you're just straining. He said, look at that. Look at that.
D
But really, the genius in it is because we're doing the same thing. The military, we're breaking them down because they think they know everything. Yeah. That's why I did that. About the questions. I mean, they. It's great TV because they're making them. Their answers are making themselves look like idiots. I mean, look, from. From brush. You know, I'm like, look, here are the. The choices. Go get these. You have five minutes. Of course I'm going to use all their brush and brush all the blind. They don't. They don't. They're not putting two and two together. But you put it in a competition form. They take off running, tearing, ripping. But what's amazing, they bring all the brush. I just showed them what I want.
A
Yeah.
D
And they're like. They're just grabbing anything. I'm like, no, look at the leaves here.
A
Yeah.
D
But they're looking at it like, I'm like, a toddler would know that that's not this. Well, that's why you hear, like, you're being hard on us. I'm like, you. You. You have eyes there. This is. I gave you the example. This is what I want. You brought something that is undesirable. So that's kind of the process of it all. So we're doing. Today is the last hoorah.
A
Oh, so you're actually still.
D
Oh, today's the last filming day. Yeah. I will be filming eight hours after it. It's quite the doozy. But it's. It's a. We'll see where they're at as far as manhood, because we'll put them to the.
A
Well, that's interesting, because. Yeah, we've got them more on the. On the intellectual side that Zach and.
D
I. I will promise you this, Al. When they wake up in the morning, they will not be able to move.
C
That's the plan. That's the goal.
A
Well, you, though, is the question.
D
Oh, I'm gonna be sitting under an umbrella in a chair barking.
B
Yeah, we're not. We're not that hard on them. We're actually. Our. Our setup's a little more kind, but.
D
I give them credit. They're. They've done really well. I mean, we. We've made this as difficult as possible, and I think they probably would have cracked if the TV cameras weren't rolling. But there's a certain pride man. He just. He gets back up.
A
I told Willie. Willie came by the other day, and I Love the show. I love what they're doing with it. I love the. All the Easter eggs to the old show that are there. And that's why I love this. You know, this is kind of like you guys are now what dad did and. And all the discussion. Remember, dad would have all the birds and bees talks with that with your kids and with Willie's kids. And now they're older. We don't need the birds and bees. They got that. They're all having kids. Like, I mean, now we're 60 in the family, so now it's stuff like this.
D
Well, the two things that have benefited from it, which I underestimated, is one, if you want to be like a successful duck hunter or outdoorsman, you have to enjoy the process, the result. You're not worried about, like, at this stage of my life, I'm excited. Somebody actually asked me that yesterday. They're like, do you still get excited about duck hunting? And I was like, that excitement's never going away. And they're like, why is that? And I said what I'm fixed to say. I said, because I enjoy the process, the whole scheme of things, from developing the land, planting the crops and brushing the blunt, moving the location.
A
It's a yearly. Oh, it's not just hunting season.
D
But. But think about anything you really love or you're really successful. Successful at. You have to embrace that. Well, they're. They're hooked on that now because their problem when they first came down there on opening day, none of them did anything. They sat over there on their phones while we're hunt. Me and Jay was just looking at each other. Of course, Jay lit after the hunt. He gave the most fiery, withering speech, challenged that challenge their mana.
A
Yeah.
D
And he's like, this is pathetic. You think that we got up this morning and got all this ready so you could sit on your rear end and check your phone and then look around? You know, I would get up and shoot every once in a while and miss. Well, hey, it was just pathetic, you.
C
Know, but the process, I mean, that's what we talk about.
A
The witches say, this is right in your will.
C
Because, you know, when I look at my life and, you know, 39 going on 40, it's like, okay, there's like four things that I started my journey on that have, like, completely changed my entire life. So as 15 year old, started my journey as a Christian, you know, 22 years old, started my journey as a husband, you know, early 30s, starting my journey as a father. And then at the age of 30 I started doing Jiu jitsu. And the thing with. With doing something like jiu jitsu, it's what you're talking about, Jace, where if you just want the result.
D
Yeah.
C
Well, you black belt or winning a tournament or being able to win a street fighter, all that. You will flame out so fast. Oh, yeah, because you. It doesn't matter your physical abilities, it doesn't matter how fast or strong or athletic you are. When you begin, you're a toddler, you're a baby deer, like, you don't know anything yet. And you have to basically humble yourself to the process of getting better. And then you see these corollaries to all these other areas of your life. Right. So whether you're, you know, going into scriptural study or in your job or in your relationships, your marriage, it's that resilience. Because you can't really explain to someone why you keep coming back. Because it's like, wait, every time I see you, you're injured, or you've got, you know, rash, you know, matte burn on your face, and, you know, you're just constantly getting smoked by all these people. Why do you keep going back? And the only real answer is, because I have to. Right. And so the same thing, like, I look at my own Christian walk and different. You go through different seasons of, you know, where you feel like you have plenty, you have a lot of plentiful energy, or maybe you're like, kind of in the. In the valley. It's like you have to have the resilience to see yourself through to the other side of the valley. Because, you know, Psalm 23, it's not that God delivers you from the valley, it's that he's there with you. And the implication is we're all either coming out of the valley, in the valley, or about to go into it.
A
Yeah.
C
And so if you don't have the right kind of resilient mindset if you're not playing the long game. Right. Because when you're doing something outside of hunting season, it may seem kind of foolish, but while you're doing the hunting, it's like, okay, well, this result would not have happened if all this other work had not gone into it. And so, yeah, you just have to use.
D
They've learned that process. I mean, one thing we didn't film. I mean, like, second day of tail season, they were all out there. Well, the motor, you know, quit running. And they were like, what are we going to do? You know, they were getting their phones out. We're like, Put your phone up, get your rear end out of the boat and start walking. That's right. And they're like, what are you going to do? I was like, I'm going to be riding.
C
You are dragging the boat, son.
D
You are dragging the. But I said, have you put one thing into this operation monetarily, physically? I was like, that means you walk and we ride. We paid for this. If you want to bring a motor, next time, bring it right now. You are not bringing anything to the table. That means you walk and you pull us. Then you'll appreciate having a nice motor.
A
Now you see why. You see the old movies about when they got. They're carrying the people around on the, you know, four corners. That's. This is where that started.
D
Well, it's so funny because then when I'm said, well, my boots are not, you know, because he had hip boots on, and they're like, what do I do? I was like, you're gonna get wet. I mean, I was like, we're men.
C
Well, you see, it wasn't obvious to them that that was going to be the result. But next year it'll be obvious, right? They're like, they're going to have some expectations.
D
It's really changed a lot.
A
Well, it is. It makes an interesting point because you both brought it out that the younger, too, that you start at something, the more it becomes a part of who you are.
C
It's like another language.
A
It is. And so, like, if you grow up hunting, like we did from a very early age, you know things early that you didn't have to be taught, but when you come into the game later, you don't. It's the same with the spiritual wall. It's the same with Jiu Jitsu, because I noticed my granddaughter, Sage, she just is such a natural because she started so young. Yesterday I. I preached. And so it just so happened. The little kid that did my scripture reading does Jiu Jitsu, and he's eight years old, but he doesn't go to J school. He goes to another school in town. So I didn't know much about him. And so I like to do a little banter with him. And you never know how a kid's gonna react. You know, you ask them something on stage, you never know what you're gonna get. So I asked this kid yesterday, I said, so I understand you. Do you do Jiu Jitsu? I said, how long would it take you to choke me out? You know? And so I just stuck the mic there, and he went.
C
He's Doing the math.
A
He's doing the math. He's thinking about. He said, I don't know. And I said, eight seconds. That's how long it would take. I'm looking at you. And he just kind of chuckled and he did the scripture. But it's the idea of life training, right? I mean, just, you know, the younger the better.
B
Hey, guys, look. Interest rates, we've said it before, they're expected to drop soon. And you could save a lot of money on the things that you finance. And that's great news, right? But here's the thing. To cash in on the savings, you got to have a higher credit score. Well, how can you do that? Well, I'm proud to tell you that our partners at Smart Credit can help you do that. C
Would you also give yourself opportunities for other people to kind of dote on you a little bit? So, you know, best friend in the world, a buddy named Adam, he and I, we hunt whitetail together on his property. And so, you know, I've made mistakes on his land before where I took an animal that was, you know, the biggest buck I had ever seen. But in terms of the property, for an experienced hunter, it was not a shooter. Right. And so this was years ago. And so, okay, you learn and with every season you pick up a little bit more. Well, I passed on a buck this last hunting season and when we got back to, we got back to the, you know, the campsite or whatever, he goes, you're a blue belt. And hunting now, I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, just about everybody that we would bring out on this property would have taken that buck and you let him go because he wasn't quite ready. And you're right, he wasn't quite ready. And the whole time I'm sitting there in the blind, like, oh my gosh, I let a shooter go. Like, what am I gonna do? My family's not gonna be able to eat. You know, I'm like, you know, painting, panicking and all this kind of stuff and then, you know, film a little bit down. But then you get back and someone's like, well, well, no, like he learned that lesson when he was 7, you know what a shooter is. And here I am, 37 at the time and it's like, oh, okay. But then for James and Eli, my five year old, my three year old sons, they're going to learn these lessons early because, you know, you know, hunting and outdoor stuff kind of skipped a generation or two in my family. But I see the value in it. Right. So when I think hunting, I don't think fun or this is going to be like a great time. Even though it might be, it's like, no, I'm learning provision. I'm learning how to provide for my family and others. And you know, you just give someone another opportunity to like, look after you, to, to mentor you, to rib you and give you a crap. You know, that's, that's part of the process as well.
D
You're, I mean, basically the model is, I mean, just think how, how much we're studying John. And he's like, I'm leaving you in kitchen A. Example.
A
Yeah.
D
As the father sent me, I'm sending you. I mean, this is the creator of the universe training men.
A
Yeah.
D
To be his representatives and his.
A
And it was a crash course because it was only three years. I mean, that's all he had with him.
D
And that's what I was going to say is the second thing that came out of this. Well, all of a sudden our relationship improved. I mean, literally kind of military style broke down. They. Then they start improving because they start realizing, I need to, to bring something to the table.
A
Yeah.
D
And then it makes Them think, what am I good at? Which I gave him that speech. I'm like, you're good at something. And I got that from our dad.
A
Yeah.
D
I was like, everybody's good at something.
A
Good at something.
D
And it may be hard to find right now, but there's something in this operation. But you're going to have to show up thinking, you know, and I, I usually quote that verse where Jesus, you know, said that I didn't come to be served, but to serve.
A
Yeah.
D
Because they, they, they don't realize how much work is involved in hunting the whole process of it all. And then they're convicted because they realize, oh, I was just showing up, thinking about me, you know, oh, can I shoot something? You know, detached from the process.
A
Yeah.
D
And so they all have had that awakening at some point during that. And I'm really proud of. It went quicker than I thought, them just improving. And even in our relationship, I noticed that when we see each other in various other places now, the conversation is way more spiritual. Yeah. Also because all of a sudden they're humble and they're thinking, this is right. And they realize that this is, you know, we're doing this based on the model of faith.
A
And we talked about this yesterday. Kyle, you and I had a long discussion about humility, having to be that baseline to learn anything. But especially when you're talking about spiritual stuff, if you don't have a humble heart to start with, you miss it.
C
You don't get that opportunity when it's like we were talking a little bit off air about people that have very strong, very specific theological categories and persuasions, and they want to fight these tertiary doctrines to the death with people and things like that. And that can be fun sparring and doing some stuff like that with different people. But ultimately you have to bring a humility to the process because, you know, with. With undaunted life. I'll get invited to come speak in front of a group of people. And I literally got an email while I was sitting at your house. It was from this group. They're like, we need to bring in a guy that's going to hit our men in the face with a shovel. And we think you're that guy. And I'm like, funny thing, I agree with your assessment. I. I do think I am that guy. Because my style when I go and speak somewhere is burn it down and walk away away. Because I don't live here. Right. So if I go to, you know, wherever's ville, Minnesota, like, I don't live here. You Live here. Your people live here. Make sure you have a net ready to catch these guys. Let's just burn off the stuff that's worthless and then let's build back up with the stuff that's actually worthwhile. And I just tell these guys whether you're on the. Because we always talk about equipping men to push back darkness. That's why undaunted life is here. Okay, well, how do we do that? Well, we show men how to be spiritually, mentally, and physically resilient. Every man is typically drawn to one of those naturally. So, like, if you were a college athlete or something like that, you've already been physical. You've dominated using your physical body. So physical resilience is something you'll be drawn to. But maybe you haven't read a book since high school. Yeah, okay, well, that's problematic. Or maybe you're, like, drawn to Scripture and you love the theological underpinnings and making all the connections and all that, but physically speaking, you've. You've let yourself go or you've never got yourself going to begin with as.
A
It pertains to your body, to that.
C
Well, and we talked about that whenever I interviewed you recently for my show. Do you just find yourself in this place where you're like, man, I'm not honoring this meat chassis that God gave me, and he only gave me one right. And I'm. I'm not, you know, stewarding it well. And it would just be like someone giving you money and you don't steward that well either. Like, that's, that's not going to be worthwhile. But again, with. With all these things, you have to bring humility to it. Because same thing with Scripture. When we started doing the forging table on Undaunted Life, where we're covering Scripture, you know, usually a chapter at a time, an hour at a time. Even though we're crawling through the Book of Romans right now, we just wrap Genesis, and if you just go insane, like, ah, yeah, I know Genesis well. It's like, no, we're going to be in Genesis for seven, eight, nine months. Let's dig in. And then if you go into the Scripture, assuming. No, I already know this, I don't need to study it further. There's nothing else that the text can give me in terms of understanding. The Holy Spirit can't allow me to understand things in a deeper way. It's just like, man, you are working with both hands tied behind your back.
D
Yeah.
A
And I mentioned this yesterday in my sermon, that the beauty of The Bible is why, you know, I was teaching a historical lesson out of the book of Joshua where there's something specific happens and then it ends. And so you're like, well, we wrapped that up, but it didn't end. Like when you turn the page over to judges, it got worse. You know, so all these things happen because it kept going. And so it's the same thing. The Holy Spirit wrote these things through men and women as they were carried along in prophecy and all these different things. The Hebrew writer said it's a living, breathing, active word. And so it doesn't change, but we change as to your point and so it impacts us that way. So Zach, you have a lot of kids and your last one that you have was, was one that you adopted. Would you say that? I mean, all your kids are gifts from God, but Ruth is a special gift. Is that not true?
B
She's my favorite. I'll just say it.
A
And you know, that's the beauty of children. And it's about, it's about a choice. Right now, unfortunately, nearly one in four pregnancies ends in abortion. That's over 3,000 lives lost every single day. One of our partners, Preborn Network Clinics, shows us that there's hope. These clinics provide free ultrasounds that introduce a mother to her baby. And we all know that that moment changes everything. Over 350,000 babies have already been saved through this life giving work. And it doesn't stop there. Mothers are being introduced to Jesus as well, which then allows them not only to choose life, but also to receive practical support. So this great blessing, as AK and Jill have experienced, happens because people choose life. If you're a business owner, we're asking that you consider making a larger tax deductible gift not just for the write off, but to make an eternal impact. While the government isn't working to save babies, you can. A gift of $15,000 sponsors an ultrasound machine, a powerful tool that saves lives every single day. Every gift matters. Get involved today. Dial £250baby or go to preborn.comunashamed. that's preborn.comunashamed.
C
Well now you, you brought this up yesterday in your sermon, you know, in Joshua 24, where it's like ask for me in my house. We will serve the Lord. And so you know, Yalls dad has left a tremendous impact on me and stamp on my life. Because Jace, I don't know if you know this because I didn't know this, but this would have been. When did uncle come out? Two years ago.
A
Three years ago.
C
Two. Three years ago. So I'm sitting in your seat, and Phil's sitting right there at the old studio, and we get done doing the interview, and he goes, we in this together, brothers. And he just, you know, we give knuckles across the table. And that's how the interview ended. So all the, you know, cameras turn off, lights turn off or whatever. And so I'm just getting my stuff, getting ready to go, because in typical Phil fashion, I assume he's going to take his headphones off and then, you know, hop in the truck and head back home to Ms. K. He gets up, puts his headphones down, walks around the table and gets right face to face with me and goes, no matter what, you keep going. You've got a gift. God has given this to you for a reason. And you go get after these men. And I'm just like. Because when you're on the tip of the spear, guys, like, I don't get a lot of encouragement, right? You know, guys send me these wonderful emails about things they've changed in their life and all that, but I'm really drawn more to the negative. So if somebody. Someone says something negative, I kind of dwell on that. But when you're at the tip of the spear and you're the head of your own household and you're trying to make sure that you're setting the spiritual. You're the spiritual thermostat, not thermometer for your house, sometimes you run into some discouragement, right?
A
Oh, yeah.
C
And I can always go back to that moment and be like, it's not like in that moment, I knew what I was here for. I already kind of had the mission to equipment to push back darkness. But that's like a. A. An anchor point point. Like, because some guys get really untethered, right? So they're untethered from their church community, they're untethered from their family. They're untethered from the word of God. But that's just like, a point that I can, like, you know, chain myself to and be like, no matter what happens, no matter how we get beat around, you know, in the. In the waves or whatever. Going back to that moment where Phil looked me dead in the eye and said, you were basically, you were built for this. Like, don't let anyone tell you you weren't.
D
No, that's good.
A
Which is powerful.
D
I want to share these two verses because this was kind of a. The model I thought about in our little training thing, which something really spiritual came out of. But this is James 3:16. This is kind of what we fight against. It says for where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. And you know, our team and I view it as a team in the hunting world, it only takes one self centered person or full of envy to disrupt the whole operation. Which is why Jay gave the infamous opening day speech because all these young boys showed up and they were envious and very self absorbed during the hunt, as in they tried to leave without even picking up the decoy. They just all started walking to the, to the rigs. And Jay was like, hey, get over here. And one of them said, well, I gotta go. And he said, you ain't leaving here without me. And so the other. So that's what we're battling. And look us as humans, that's where sin comes from, envy and selfish ambition. That's what it says. Every evil practice us. And the other one, when Paul was training Timothy, this is second Timothy two, he says, verse one, you then my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, which should be the battle cry of men. Be strong in the grace of our Lord Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. And then I don't think by accident because he's giving you this model of this passing it down just like Jesus did with his disciples. But then he's like, endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. I mean, I love how he's like, yeah, we're going to pass this on. It's not going to be easy. There's going to be hardship, this is going to be tough. And so that's why I gave that military type analogy because he literally called us soldiers of Jesus. And really any group of soldiers will tell you the first, their first priority are the guys right beside them, right? And being a team player. And that's why you're battling the self absorbed and the envious, you know, among us.
C
Well, one of my, you know, I like military history and stuff like that. And so you think of the phalanx. So if you've watched the movie 300, that's the phalanx where you've got your sword or you've got your spear, your, your offensive weapon in your right side, but on the left side you're holding your shield, but your shield is protecting your left side and the person next to you, their right side, right? And so you're in this phalanx formation. And you can kind of turtle up. And it was a really good defensive formation for offensive, you know, advancement. But one thing that, you know, as I was looking into the phalanx that I found interesting is they found out early on that depending upon who was to your left or your right, that really had a huge impact on whether or not you stayed in phalanx formation. And so they started putting your brother on your left, your uncle on your right, your first cousin to his right, because the odds of you taking off when your shield is protecting your brother goes down considerably. And when you think about the. The Christian walk, like, this is one of my big drums that I beat. And Joby Martin, who y' all have had on the show, who's, you know, big on this, he calls them Matt Toters. I call it a Foxhoe foxhole. You need guys that are willing to at any time of day. I even, I even call them 3am friends to do what it takes to get you to the feet of Jesus. So he talks about Mark chapter two. Yeah, I believe it's Mark chapter two, where, you know, the, the paralytic had one guy on each corner of his mat and they, they, they did physical property to someone or physical damage to someone else's property. Right. They tore through this dude's roof to lower their buddy down to the feet of Jesus. And it's like most guys don't have four names that they could write down in the margins of their bible right now of guys in their life that, that they can do that with.
D
Yeah.
C
But it's like they can't even fathom being in a failings formation with other guys because they don't take it seriously. Yeah. And, you know, some guys, you know, maybe their wife isn't big on them leaving and going hanging out with buddies, or maybe they're more, you know, submissive in their personality or they're not really extroverted. But the thing is, is when the day comes, when you get that call that brings you to your knees or when you get that diagnosis from the doctor or something like that, if you haven't invested time in other men, like, it's one thing to have fellas that'll help you move a table or, you know, fix a. Fix a motor or something like that. But if you got fellas and you don't have brothers, if you don't have, you know, people Matt Toters matching other calls on the king's table, I call them a foxhole. You're so far behind. Like, as Joby puts it, it's like. It's like being of retirement age in deciding to save for retirement.
D
Yeah.
C
It's like, bro, you're. You're so far behind, you can't even fathom it.
A
All right, we're out of time. Kyle's always a pleasure having you. I always feel like we could just keep going.
C
Let me say one. I want to say one thing about this Bible real quick. So one last thing in terms of how Phil's inspired me and really all of you guys, Phil always had his Bible either on his lap, on the table in front of him, under his, you know, hand.
D
Like, on his dashboard.
C
Yeah, on his dashboard. Like, it didn't matter where we were. At church, at the duck shop, you know, at the house, the Bible was nearby. And I realized I had all these apps on my phone, these Bible apps. But if I'm sitting in a waiting room somewhere, even if I'm reading the Bible, no one else really knows that if I'm reading the Bible at home, my kids maybe didn't know that. And so I actually got this Bible made at Ace Book Binding in Oklahoma City, and I got those. Those gospel symbols. I know you probably can't see that on the camera right there, but the, you know, the down arrow, the cross, the empty tomb, the up arrow arrow, and the down arrow, I got those put, you know, on the. On the side of the Bible, and I got my logo, my name, and all that, because if someone's seeing me read this and I'm about to go in for a checkup or something else like that, I can give them the gospel about as quickly as you. You can give it to somebody using these symbols.
D
Right.
C
And the fact that it's on me, and if I needed to pull my phone out for some reason, I got to set this down to dig in my pocket. And so that's just another thing, you know, with his legacy and the legacy of your family, just making sure the gospel gets out to more people.
A
I love it. It's a Paul to Timothy moment. So check out Kyle undaunted life. A lot of you already do. Check out what he's doing. Kyle, it's always a pleasure having you on, brother.
C
Appreciate you guys.
