I am unashamed. What about you? Welcome back to Unashamed. I like that.
D
Jace. Jace After Dark.
C
Well, we were hurriedly trying to get through the last podcast and we just decided to stay around and do the next one in the same vein. So basically what we concluded when you read the usage of Jesus name. Well, or the name that Jesus prayed in John 17:6, I revealed your name and you go back to that.
D
I like the combo you made of the one too, because that was a big point Jesus has been making. The Father and I are one. Just like we're one. Then in the back part of that prayer, remember he said, and the world can be won. I mean, the idea is it's going to go further than just us.
C
It's exciting. And I think we should look at that real quick because we want to combinate. We want to make a combination. Don't you hate it when you're texting somebody? You get distracted, you pull your phone.
D
Up and you just.
C
I still hadn't sent it. That was like two hours ago. So there you go. So look, Al, if you look at John 8:8 41, we can do this quickly. John 8:41. 8:41. We'll do a little review just for our listeners. So everybody, 8:41.
D
Oh yeah, that's when he's talking about the. He's talking to them about their father because they said, abraham is our father. He said, if you were Abraham's children, you would do the things Abraham did. As it is, you're trying to kill me. Then he says, you are doing the things your own father does. We are not illegitimate children. They protested. The only father we have is God himself.
C
Yeah. So that's what their argument is. And then Jesus turns that on his.
D
Head and says, I am.
C
Well, look at 5:16. Yeah. So that's their view. They're looking at that there's only one God. So 5:16. I think this is interesting because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, Jewish leaders began to persecute him. That's why I had those backwards, because they're like, who are you? In his defense, Jesus said, my Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working for this reason. They tried all the more to kill him. Not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. Which is interesting. That word equal is not mentioned but about eight times in the New Testament. And one time it's mentioned in Philippians 2, where it says he didn't consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing. A lot of debate on what that means. But he took on a servant role, being made in human likeness with the limitations that being a human can be. Here's God. To go back to the illustration of what his name is, which is a burning bush, which is basically what we concluded last time. You can't put a label on God because therefore by humans doing that, you're exerting yourself as a created being in limiting who God is. You can't just limit him to, oh, it's just. It's not that easy. So if a guy can make a bush not burn up and it's on fire, I'm not sure who you are, but it's beyond my idea of what you can be.
D
And really, Jason, you think about it, it thwarts the concept of idolatry because how can you take something that's craz created and say it's your God when it's just something that was created?
E
That's why you say it. You say it because you created it. What's greater, the watch or the watchmaker? It's the one who made the watch and said the idol maker is greater than the idol. So idolatry actually turns out to be just the worship of ourselves. And I think where, by the way, that's why it ends up being your own hell. Because anything that you can fully exhaust will become hell eventually. And that's why God, when his revelation of eternal life is not simply a place that we go to, it is his presence. The place is marked with the presence, just like in Exodus 3. And so the correlation between the name of God, he's not definable in that way. And also the very nature of who he is in the burning bushes, that he doesn't need anything else outside of himself to sustain his existence. As you see in the burning bush, the bush is burning, but the bush isn't being consumed. So what that means is, is that the fire does not need material to burn, it just burns. It's an ultimate energy source that sustains itself, which means you cannot exhaust it. And that is the nature of idolatry, is to take and try to make God exhaustible.
D
Not.
E
Not going to work, by the way. It's futile. But that is what makes it an idol, is that you're attempting to make God exhaustible.
D
Ex.
C
Because that describes what he was talking about in 1 Corinthians 8. Paul was. He was like, oh, there's lots of gods, but there's one Father and there's one Lord and they're one. Which is where we're going to this. So I set up the debate. The Jews were struggling to wrap their head around that. They're like, this guy's making himself equal with God. We're serving the one God. What are you representing? Well, when he gets to John 10, and you'll remember this. Oh, he just goes ahead and says it. He says in 16, at the back half of it, he says, they too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. You know, remember when he was given that illustration? All of a sudden he starts bringing up this one idea. Well, one, when we think of one, I mean, that's one of the first things I learned as a human. One, two, I know what one is. But after you read the Book of John, it makes you reconsider what one is.
D
That's interesting.
C
And I'm telling you, we come to the Bible with human limitations and we're missing his point, which is so powerful that you're literally putting your brain to the test of explosion. Because it's like when you get to the end of that prayer of John 17, that is so deep, what he's saying, that you can't just read over and say, oh, I got that, as we're one. And we can. We shared this love, this common bond before the creation, we're going to pass that on to you, even though you can't be, as humans, one. And so what he came up, he invented a phrase which is primarily only used in John and first John, which is love one another. Because you can't be that relationship of God and Jesus because they are one, even though they're distinct. That's why when you read the prayer in John 17, he's constantly saying, I'm in the Father, the Father's in me, and I'll be in you. Now all that's fine. But he never says, you'll be in somebody else. Right now, you just love one another. It's the closest resemblance that you can get to who he is.
D
Which is interesting, James, because it's back to the ultimate illustration. We bring this up a lot in the garden. The closest thing we have to this sort of thinking on Earth is another challenge to your math. One plus one equals one. When people get married, you have a covenant relationship of oneness with another person. Instead of one plus one, two will become one flesh.
C
But God is bigger than flesh.
D
Oh, exactly. It's a poor illustration, but it's the closest we have.
C
But I'm glad you brought it up, because I thought the same thing. It's when the word became flesh. That's the limitations that were brought in because of love. That's Described in Philippians 2.
D
Correct.
C
So, but if you get back to this idea of oneness. So in John 10:30, he just says it. There's six words in this verse, I and the Father are one, which is what eventually led him to be killed. It did that statement, I and the Father are one, because they deemed that as blasphemous. Because they thought, one is one.
D
Right.
C
And he's like, no, he didn't say three is one, but he's fixed to bring up the Holy Spirit.
D
And they also missed all of their own history of what the Messiah was really designed to do. Yeah, they thought it was going to be to topple Rome, that they missed the whole point of what the Messiah was here.
C
That's why we try to name it. That's where the whole idea that Trinity came up. So, well, we need to give him. Give him a name.
D
Yeah, try.
C
And I'm trying to tell you, stop doing that.
D
He's bigger than a name.
C
Give him a name. Give him BB Burning bush that tells you all you need to know. The bush won't burn up. And they're like, well, what do we call that? We call that power.
D
Yeah, exactly.
C
And I don't have it.
D
But you know what?
C
I want to give it to you, so just shut up and just. I'll be with you. Don't. Don't worry about that. I mean, that's kind of what you want to say in between the lines of that conversation with Moses, because you. You literally feel, when you look at it, the way we broke it down of not frustration, but God, just looking at him like, I'm with you. That'll cover it.
E

D
But you know what's interesting, guys, is that Jesus is so loving that he embraced the limitations. Because when they said Jesus of Nazareth and then he said, he responds back with im, which goes all the way back to what you're talking about, the burning bush. But he lets that stand with Jesus of Nazareth. And we know already from our study, remember that when he says he's from Nazareth, immediately most of them rejected him because, well, good, thank you. Come out of there. I mean, he embraced even that being from a region of Israel that other people looked down on. And he was like, yeah, Jesus and Nazareth I am, I am who I am, you know, which is so much bigger. We don't want to talk about our limitations at all.
C
So I want to bring up this because it's going to make, this is going to make more sense when we get to John 18. So you remember in John 11, after the resurrection. All of a sudden, they want to. I mean, the resurrection of Lazarus. Then they're wanting to kill him because it scared them, because they thought everybody's following him. Now he's pulled off some trick where he can raise the dead. We got to kill him, which is just so hard.
D
And kill the guy that he ra.
C
Yeah. So in verse 50 or 49 here, this Caiaphas, who's going to re. Emerge in the trials comes up. And he was high priest with our high priest that God designed. Is Jesus just prayed for the world as our representative, the true high priest. Bringing. Going back to his original prayer in Matthew that we read Matthew 6. Our Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, which is. It did come. The king came.
D
Yeah.
C
Mark one. Jesus said, the time is.
D
We now need nobody in between us and him. Yeah.
C
I'm bringing heaven and earth. I'm bringing heaven to earth.
D
Yes.
C
So all that. So. So Caiaphas says, you know nothing at all. You do not. This is 11:50. You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish. He didn't realize what he said.
D
It was very prophetic.
C
And I'm not saying that that's what the next verse says. He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation. Wasn't that interesting? I wonder where that came from. Somebody who can make a bush not burn up is where it came from. And not only for that. This is 52, that nation. But also for the scattered children of God to bring them together. Well, here it is again. And make them one. So. Oh, here's an idea. One man's going to die so that everybody can become one. And who is everybody? Everybody. Watch how this works. This is so cool. So then when you get to 17. We didn't do this last time. So 17 in the prayer, verse 11. I will remain in the world no longer. But they are still in the world. And I'm coming to you, Holy Father. Protect them by the power of your name, the name that you gave me. Well, here's the next phrase. So that they may be one as we are one.
D
Mm.
C
So he introduced that same thought, right? That. That came from John 11 and John 10. So then verse 21A, that all of them may be one. So he prayed also for all who believe in the message, verse 20, that all of them may be one. Father, just as you are in me and I am in you, May they also be in us. So that here's the key. So that the world may believe that you have sent me. Yeah, well, this echoes John 13. And I'll come right back here. I didn't notice this till last night. We should have brought this up, which is why I'm doing it now. So watch. What? John 13. After he washed their defeat. Wash their feet and their defeat.
D
Yes.
C
So listen to this. 34. A new command I give you. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. And there's that idea. One another. But this next verse is what I miss by this, Everyone. Everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another. So he echoes that in John. I mean, he will pick that back up in John 17 so that the world may know. Well, now this makes more sense of John 3:16. For God so loved the world that he sent his son. But it didn't just stop there.
D
Yeah.
C
He then is saying, when we finish reading John 17 and where I was and 21, that's 21. May they also be in us, so the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, and that they may be one, as we are one. I in them, 23, you and me, so that they may be brought to. And here we go. Perfect one.
D
Yeah.
C
Perfect unity. I in them and you and me, so that they may be brought to ultimate oneness. Then here he says it again. The world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. So then he gets down to the end and says, righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you. And they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them and will continue to make known in order that the love you have for me may be in them, and that I myself may be in them. Well, that's the whole mission of God summed up. And we can be.
E
Well, the other echo that you have here is the echo from Exodus, which was Moses big concern in going to the promised land, going to the place, or one of his big concerns was that, how would they know that we're your people? How will they know? And so Moses was connecting the identity of Israel to the name of God. And so that passage you just read from the New Testament, that they'll actually know our identity is marked by the way that we love one another. Well, how do we love one another? Well, love is the fruit of the spirit. Well, how do I get the spirit? God has to live in me. And so now you see the Presence again, being attached to identity. The Presence makes the place holy. The Presence is in us. And that's where we ultimately get our identity from. So all these echoes, these are echoes from Eden. These are echoes from the Exodus. These are echoes from the entire Old Testament that they're. That the. But the point of it is. Is right here in Jesus. That's the point of the entire thing.
D
Let me read this. I got to read. This is so good. Based on everything Joseph's been talking about. In Acts 4, Peter and John have healed a guy. And so now we're. Now we're 2.0. And listen, the characters are the same. Annas, the high priest, was there. So was Caiaphas. So there they are, the high priest.
C
Family.
D
Round two. Jesus. One man died. We got rid of him. Nope, you didn't. They had Peter and John brought before them. By what power or what name did you do this? The healing. Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit because there is Jesus in him, said to them, rulers and elders of the people, if we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel, it is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is the stone you builders rejected which has become the capstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which he must be saved. Just 2.0. It's just the same characters.
E
How many of you out there are ready to own your own home? I've bought quite a few properties over the years. Jill and I have bought and sold a lot of different homes. It's one of the ways that we've actually built some of our retirement portfolio is through the homes that we actually live in. If you feel ready to buy, I'm telling you, the time to act is right now. For the first time in years, buyers finally have the upper hand because there's more inventory on the market, which means you have more negotiating power and less competition. But opportunities like this, they don't last long because as soon as the Fed cuts the rates, which they just did, buyer demand is likely to spike. And you know what that means. Prices will go up, and then sellers will have the advantage. So peak home buying seasoning is right now. It's in full swing. Now is your moment to lock in the Right home for you. And you can do it on your terms before the market shifts. So reach out today to get approved for mortgage financing with my friends Andrew and todd@andrewandtod.com or call 888-888-1172. C
So I want to give an echo because I'm looking over my notes. I want to make sure I get all this in. So this also echoes leading into Philippians 2, which Zach brought up last podcast. If you go to Isaiah 45, you're going to see an interesting thing. Speaking of the Father. And I don't know any other way to describe him, because now I'm conscious about how I'm labeling God, but the Lord. So now we're in the Old Testament. Yeah. So if you read Isaiah 45, verse 5 through 7, it says, I am that Lord, I am the Lord, and there is no other apart from me, there is no God. But you see why they. They're saying there's only one God, right? But, but watch, watch how this happens. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting, people may know there is none. I am the Lord, there is no other. I form the light and create the darkness. I bring prosperity, create disaster. I, the Lord, do all these things. But when you skip down and read 23, this becomes interesting. By myself, I have sworn my mouth has uttered in all integrity. A word will not be revoked. A word will not be revoked. Before me. Every knee will bow by me, every tongue will confess. Well, who quoted that scripture later? Guy named Paul in Philippians 2. But I want you to notice where he went with this because we're talking about God the Father here, the one that was at the burning bush talking to Moses. But guess who Paul references that to in Philippians 2. 5 in your relationships with one another, have the same attitude as Christ Jesus, who being very equal with God, same word used in John 5, did not consider equality With God something to be used to his own advantage. Rather, he made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness and being found in appearances, man, he humbled himself, became obedient to death, even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father. So now Paul's using the same Isaiah 45 echo about God to Jesus who became a man. And so I did all that just to read one more, because what we're basically saying is the name is bigger than a name. It's just bigger. And you see this reference in Revelation 2 in verse 17, when he, John, through the Holy Spirit in. In this dream, writes this letter to these seven churches. And at the end of the church, to Pergamum 17, watch what he says. I find this interesting. To the one who is victorious, I will give him some of the hidden manna. And we remember that story where that's going back to Moses and God in the world supplying, the Lord will provide. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. And I've read that verse before and thought, what is that talking about? But now, after everything we've just gone through, you understand when you surrender to Jesus, you've now discovered something that's very hard. If somebody said now, what name? Now, we would say Jesus based on Philippians 2. But the name of God is complex. I think we've proven that because he is a being that sustains. And by just getting him down to one name and trying to check that box off, you're limiting who God is.
D
Yeah, but we get it.
C
And we have him inside the spirit of him, this. This being who loves us. Right. And wants us to be a part of this eternal love and use us to show the world that God loves them. Yeah, and that was his prayer in John 17. I mean, that's put with all the name references and the one references and the world within the world references. And I'm a giver because. And we never touched on that aspect about giving. But now you see why all these other religions who have just one God, who's just one, he's not a community, which. I don't even know how to describe God. I mean, can we say community or Trinity? He's one God, but He's. Now you see why, if it's just one, we haven't. We've lost love.
D
Yeah.
C
What was he doing by himself?
D
Right.
C
It's. That's a form of hell. Loneliness is. Is terrible. And so now you see why God is above all gods, above all names. He's. He's a communal being that wants to share that love, which is why we're all here.
D
Yeah. No, that's good. And I think the rabbit hole that Jason went on, we got right to it when he went back. If you go back to John 18, Jesus knowing all this is going to happen. So who is it you want? And then verse five, Jesus of Nazareth. There's the name. I am He, Jesus said. And Judas, the traitor was standing there with him. So he's there. When Jesus said, I am he, they drew back and fell to the ground.
C
It makes sense to me now. Yeah. I think it's a burning Bush moment.
D
Right.
C
He declared the presence of God. What they should have done when he said, I am he, is. They should have all started taking off their sandals or their sandals.
D
Yeah, probably so.
C
Yeah. They should have put all their weapons down. They should have bowed a knee.
D
Should.
C
And they should have said, our bad.
D
Yeah. Because they did fall out. And it's interesting because everybody. That everybody. You read about this. It was either the biggest comedy of errors, everybody falls down at the same time, or something was so powerful.
C
I read the same thing.
D
Yeah.
C
These scholars, they're like, well, why would that happen?
D
Yeah.
C
Why are we asking that? He said, I am he, and they all fell to the ground. That's right.
D
What was that, earthquake? Maybe. Maybe.
C
But if he can make a bush. Now, I keep going back to this Bush because I think we read that. Oh, okay. Isn't that cute?
D
And remember when John wrote this down, you know, it had already happened. He's writing it and then telling us what happened. So he has the realization. He writes as after the resurrection. So I think he saw what happened in the moment. He didn't know what was going. None of them did. They're running, they're scattering. You know, Jesus says, let them go. But later when they look back, they were like. When he said who he was, they all went down.
C
They went down.
D
I mean, and look, this was hundreds of people.
E

D
So it really is fascinating when you see it. And to me, it just solidifies the idea that when Jesus says, you don't take my life, I give it.
E
I give it.
D
I mean, that shows you how powerful that statement is, because he's showing that in the moment they came to take him, but he is like, no.
C
So why are we surprised when you see that? People out sharing Jesus and, you know, they get martyred. It's happened since the beginning of time. This continues to happen because the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. This is a weapon of love. We're doing this because we love people. And where did we get that? We got it from God, right? I mean, he literally put his claim of love being love. He put it on full display for the world. There's a reason he is the most known Jesus, I'm referring to person to ever walk the planet, because there was no crime that they could find. Everything he did was good. Even in the history books, you know, everybody's commenting on Jesus. There's nothing. There's no accusation with any kind of evidence. Oh, well, he did have this woman on the side over here. You know how everybody. I always say that about you Know, in our culture now, even when we reference someone who wrote a commentary or whatever, I haven't read the comments, but I will guarantee you somebody will not like whoever guy you referenced. Like I referenced last podcast, that Richard Baucom. I don't know his personal life. I don't know his even denominational faith, but I know one thing he did a really good lesson on the name of God and the oneness. So we always have a caveat. We'll mention somebody and we'll say, well, I don't necessarily agree with everything they said. I mean, I could say that about Charlie Kirk. I've watched enough videos. Do I agree with everything he said? No. Does that matter to me?
D
No.
C
But I agree with his stance on Jesus being the first thing you should talk about. And that's the way we should be. Having said all that with Jesus, I agree with everything he said.
D
Yeah, there's nothing. There's nothing to say.
C
But you know what I find fascinating now I've said to people, look, let's just agree on Jesus and go from there. Would I been in a disagreement. But I have met people that say, no, I don't believe that. And what. That really bothers me. You know, I'm like, we don't have to agree on everything to love each other. Let's agree on who Jesus is and God and just go from there. That's the foundation. They're like, no, not enough. That's not enough. Not enough. And I'm like, well, what are the. Now give me the list and let me see if we can have a relationship here. Because you basically said that won't work as the foundation. And don't you find that troublesome?
D
Very troublesome. And look again, we're looking at this text and what we're about to get into with the rest of the narrative. And when people miss it and they miss Jesus, terrible things happen. Yeah, and that's what happens here. I mean, this thing turns violent really quick. In fact, it turns violent right after this happens. Let me read the rest of this little first little section because we won't have time to get into the rest of this podcast. We'll pick it up next time. So they fell down.
C
Well, do you want to read. Have we read the first section?
D
Well, you kind of did, but I'll just read the whole thing. When he had finished praying, Jesus left his disciples across the Kidron Valley, which there's some interesting history with that. On the other side, there was an olive grove, and he and his disciples went into it Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. So this was a personal place for them. Judas came to the grove guiding a detachment of soldiers. And we talked about that. That's hundreds of people. And some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons for these 12 men. Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen, said, who is it you want? Jesus of Nazareth. I am He. They all fall down. And then he says, who is it? No, I am He.
C
Yeah. He says again, verse seven.
D
Right. In verse seven, he says it again. And he asked him, who is it you want? And they said, jesus of Nazareth. I told you that I am He. If you are looking for me, then let these men go. Which that fulfills that protecting of the remember, he said in the prayer, he said, I'll protect them by my name. And he did, because they let him go.
C
Well, I think too al were missing. So the first time he said it, they all fall. They all fall back. So we have had a distraction from somewhere beyond something supernatural. Something supernatural. So it's like almost. I mean, if this wasn't so morbid and just. It would be.
D
It'd be comical.
C
It would be comical because these, like now, after that just happened.
D
Who is it?
C
Who is it that you want? Well, now they were probably bewildered and scared because they just fallen on their back and they're trying to figure out what's happening, which is why the conversation repeated itself.
D
Right? Exactly. This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled. I have not lost one of them. He gave me, which he just said in the prayer. So I believe because of what's happened, this is what motivates Peter. But I could be wrong. Then Peter, Simon Peter, who had a sword. So he brought a sword with him.
C
Yeah. I think God intervened or at the pronouncement of his name, because they had weapons.
D
Yeah.
C
Well, now they fall back. Something's happened which kind of scared them. I don't care if you're a soldier or not. Something out of this world happened to you and you're like, what? What in the world? And so then he goes this fulfilled prophecy because he didn't want anybody else to die. Because him being arrested, which is how God is, He loves people. And he had a mission for them to go show the world that I'm real. And I came from God and he.
D
Gave him his word he was going to protect us.
C
The problem was the people that he was trying to keep their weapons down, they got it over this, whatever this was, them all falling down. But the people with him, specifically Peter, he missed it.
D
So he drew it. And we'll talk about this next day. He drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. This was Malchus, which is not a.
C
We view this as a minor injury. Somebody cut your ear off. I would call that major if I was the one getting my ear cut off.
D
Because he either was trying to kill him and he just nicked him, or, you know, some people said maybe did this to disfigure him where he wouldn't, but I don't know, probably too much into it.
C
I think he probably tried to whack him and the guy moved.
D
Yeah, exactly.
C
They were soldiers.
D
So Jesus says, put your sword away. Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me? And so then we'll get into the trials and stuff next time, but we're out of time for this segment. We do have a guest coming on for our last segment today, so we're going to take a break. When we come back, we'll introduce her. Jase, you know, God only gave us one body, and, you know, I think we're supposed to take care of it. It's probably a good thing to do. What do you think?
C
Profound, Al. Profound.
D
I just came up with that on my own. But, you know, I'd gotten to the point where I was not taking very good care of my body. I turned 60, decided I needed to lose some weight, and. And I ran into Dr. Ashley Lucas, who's a supporter of the podcast. She's the founder of Ph.D. weight Loss.
C
And now you could actually go hiking now.
D
I did four and a half miles, 800ft than the tallest point, Louisiana. I never would have made that hill last year, but I did it this year, so I'm definitely doing better. We have one of our favorite returning guests as well as sponsors of our podcast, Kim Bright, who's the founder of Bright Core Nutrition. And she's been on to talk about kimchi, which is a wonderful product. She's been on the podcast before, but welcome back, Kim.
F
Oh, hey, Al. Hey, Zach. How y' all doing?
E
We're making it.
F
We're not talking about chickens today, are we?
E
No more chickens.
D
He got all the chicken talk out. I think we've covered chickens very well. But, you know, I do want to talk about, because you, you sent some interesting stuff to us about aging. And I have to say, you know, probably for this last year, I've become more health conscious, Kim, because I lost a lot of weight this last year. And some of it was just because it needed to be done, but I think some of it is kind of a sense of urgency. You know, ever since Dad's health began to decline, I kind of had that feeling like, you know, I don't have, I'm limited on the earth. I only got a certain amount of time. And I want to get as. I want to get as much done as I can in the time I have. And so I think dad kind of instilled that in me. And then his, this crossing over for him reminded me of that. I mean, we understand immortality. We understand eternal life because of our relationship with Christ. But while we're here, we want to do as much as we can. Right? And so.
F
Amen.
D
Talk about that a little bit about how about the aging process and really how this particular product really helps us have some better years to be able to share.
F
Well, you know, I read these, these articles where, you know, over in China, you know, the leader over there in Putin and Kim Jong Un, they were all making fun about immortality and they're going to be immortal and they're going to use organ transplants and other people. And it's so evil. You know, they look at other, they look at people not as having souls but to be used. But, you know, the rest of us, our life expectancy is declining. So for the first time in 30 years, global life expectancies declined. And of course, Covid was blamed for that, but it actually started in 2014. And the reason that people are aging and so Quickly is, you know, we've got more, we're dealing with more toxins in our air, our soil, our food, and other external factors like, you know, unnecessary pharmaceuticals, antibiotics and vaccines that are so overused and those haven't been around that long. So, you know, the aging, our aging, you know, of course ties in with three things. Cellular metabolism, inflammation, oxidative stress. That's when all the free radicals take and they rust us from the inside out. But most people don't understand that we can actually fight that cellular aging with something called kimchi, which has been around for centuries in, in Korea. And they actually did a study, Zach and Al, where they did it was called in vitro, where they took young cells, middle aged cells and older cells, put them in test tubes, aged them fast with hydrogen peroxide, and then they took an extract kimchi and actually put them in each of those. And you know what they. And it delayed the inflammation process, but it actually slowed the aging of those cells, no matter what age those were. And so of course, when we slow that cellular, that aging down on the cellular level, we're slowing down the aging of our tissues, which is a combination of our cells. And of course that's ultimately going to slow the aging of our bodies. And we're not doing something against nature, we're not doing something artificial. You know, we're talking about immortality here. Of course, as you said, people aren't supposed to live forever, but you know, not except in heaven with our Lord Jesus. But you know, while we're here, we want to take care of our bodies and, and kimchi is the thing to do. I'm sure y' all are aware of parasites. I'm sure you're all aware of, of moles and fungus. And people get that overgrowth of candida, which is yeast. And you know, when we get older, we're getting more susceptible. These things we've got to pay attention because when you're older, your immune system drops your. The viruses take over easier. The funguses like Candida just spread like crazy. And the parasites are able to invade because our skin's getting thinner, it breaks open and those parasites can just get in, you know, come from our dogs, come from different things we touch. But kimchi has shown that it has the power to battle all these microbials naturally and effectively.
D
Yeah, and it's not, I mean, obviously you guys are kind of dealing with that, the sort of internal, the gut and digestive side of this thing. But, but it spreads to everything, right? I mean, we're talking about mental Acuity, all of it. I mean, like, that health comes kind of first from this idea of what's inside, and then what. What comes in and attacks us, right?
F
Most definitely. I mean, you hit the nail on the head, Al. If you don't take care of your gut and your gut is where all of the health either originates or where all the sickness originates. And you've got a balance there that you've got to keep in balance, and that's the good guys and the bad guys. And again, it goes back to all those pathogens I just mentioned, the yeast, the molds, the viruses, the bad bacteria, all those. God put them there in order to break our body down when we're ready to die, but we're not ready to die. Right. You said you want to live as long as you can and help as many people as you can.
D
Exactly.
F
So you've got to keep those, Those pathogens in a balance where they're not doing that work yet, where they're just kind of sitting off to the side and you've got to feed your good guys, the guys that promote all that health in your gut. You know, 70 to 80% of our health is of our. Of our immune system is in our gut. And that gut has a communication line to our brain, as you mentioned, to our heart, to our skin, everywhere in our body. So when we make our gut healthy with healthy, good bacterias, then you're going to increase your. Your longevity, you're going to increase your health. And you know, that's. That's what we're all trying to do. We're trying to live good, healthy lives. So we don't want to be sick. You know, you don't want to be sick. You can't go to church when you're sick, can't study when you're sick. You can't read the Bible when you're sick. Don't feel like it. So let's get healthy.
E
What's interesting, I was reading an article the other day about how. How many. I'm probably going to get this wrong, but serotonergic receptors are in your gut. And the correlation between even your mental health and what's in your. I mean, it's. It's kind of. No one thinks about that, but we got a friend. I may have mentioned this last time we talked, Dr. Amen, with the Amen clinics, and he's a psychiatrist, but he talks a whole lot about. He says a lot of mental illness is not actually mental illness at all. It could be like brain injury. It could Be like some gut issues, what we eat, what we're ingesting in our bodies. And so for me, I think the wake up moment was understanding that even beyond the inflammation and the physical part, the mental part is also associated with what's going on in your gut. Maybe you could speak a little bit on that because I think that's another added. It's a huge benefit of making sure that our guts are healthy.
F
You've got those neurotransmitters that are even our hormones, they're all tied in with our gut, gut and your, your happy hormones, you know, your, your happy hormones are made down there and the things that allow you to have even keel throughout the day and not get anxiety so much. All that is, is tied in with our gut health. And people that have, you know, PTSD and, and have, you know, problems sleeping and problems with their anxiety and all this stuff is all tied back to gut health. And if you're eating, you know, all these convenience foods or fast foods or foods that I call basically dead foods that you buy in the middle of the grocery stores, you know, and over processed foods, those tear down your gut. So guess what that's going to do to your brain. Guess that's what that's going to do to your skin. Guess what that's going to do to your heart. You are going to not feed the things that you need to feed in your body. That's going to give you good brain health and good heart health. So, you know, that's, that's why we created Kimchi one. Because after doing so much research on, you know, I've been doing this almost 50 years after looking at all the diets around the world and who was living the longest and who had the best health and, you know, who looked the youngest. And all this, you know, kimchi stood out among all the other fermented foods. And yet there's so many people that I, you know, would have over and try and get them to eat the kimchi or try and make the kimchi and they were like, oh, I can't eat this stuff. It smells funny, it smells bad. And you know, I don't want to mess with it. And then when they finally tasted, oh, I can't take, I can't take this taste. But there were so many benefits. And the importance of eating it daily is why I wanted to make this into a capsule so people would actually take it. And also a lot of people have problems with sodium. You know, they're, they're on low sodium diet. So when you're eating homemade kimchi, or you're buying it from the store. It's high in sodium. So kimchi won virtually has, you know, little to no sodium. And I'll tell you what, so many people, when they do take kimchi one, and they're able to take it every single day, and they do take it every single day, their digestion improves so incredibly and their regularity. I've had so many people say, I used to have gas coming, coming out both ends. You know, I was bloated, and I'm not that anymore. And then they don't get sick as much. Their immunity's kicked in better. Their energy levels, chronic fatigue's gone. They're living their life to its fullest, you know, and as Al said, that's what he wants to do. And a lot of people that had this stubborn weight that they just couldn't budge, they've reduced it. They've reduced their waistlines, they've reduced their bmi. And people notice they're looking healthier. Their skin is healthier. Again, that gut to skin connection, that communication line shows us if you've got bad stuff on the outside of your body, it's on the inside and vice versa. So, you know, people notice that, and then they, they. They're aware, my gut must be getting better. Their hair's thicker and shinier. And, you know, so many people were experiencing health problems, and they didn't even know what the cause was. And now they're better.
D
Yeah. And that's the, you know, out of all the compliments that I've gotten on losing weight and getting healthier, the. The one I. I like the look healthier, you know, and that's exactly right. And I didn't even. To be honest, I didn't expect that, Kim, at my age, at 60, but I found out you can be healthy if you get that inside working correctly, you know, and get that weight off. I saw the Secretary of Defense is saying, we got to get our fighting, you know, force fit again. You know, we got too many, too much obesity going on. I thought, we need to send them some kimchi one to the Department of Defense.
F
I loved him standing up there and saying that she. Y' all are fat. You know, get yourself in shape. I loved it.
D
I did, too.
F
They needed to hear that, Al. They needed to hear that.
D
It's a color.
F
You're so young. That's young. Honey, I'm 71, and you look amazing.
D
So in our last bit here, tell the folks kind of what they can do to to get some kimchi one and to try it and to and to start that gut health going, how.

“Jase Shares What He & Charlie Kirk Believed Could Heal a Divided World”
Date: October 8, 2025
Host: Tread Lively
Guests/Co-hosts: Phil, Al, Jase, Zach, plus guest Kim Bright (Bright Core Nutrition)
This episode delves deep into the biblical concept of oneness, the nature and name of God, and how embracing the true unity Jesus calls for is the solution to a divided world. Jase kicks off a thoughtful exploration inspired by a conversation with Charlie Kirk, reflecting on Scriptural passages (primarily John and Philippians) about the unity of the Father and the Son, the power of God’s name, and Jesus’ embodied love as the mechanism for healing societal rifts. The discussion transitions from rich theological study to practical applications for believers, with a closing segment on health and wellness featuring returning guest Kim Bright.

The episode challenges listeners to discard limiting labels about God, rally around the person and work of Jesus, and be shaped by the indwelling Spirit, resulting in a powerful testimony to a watching world. The wellness discussion underscores that stewarding our bodies is part of faithful living—enabling longer, fuller participation in God’s mission.
For more, revisit John 17 and Philippians 2, and reflect on how love, unity, and humility are essential not only for healing a divided world, but for embodying the name and presence of God in everyday life.
