Some weeks we bring notes. This was not one of those weeks. We turned the mics on and just talked — fireworks, our highlights of summer so far, and a round of increasingly unhinged would-you-rather questions (one of which involves fifty million dollars and a gorilla 😂). It's loose, a little ridiculous, and pretty much what it sounds like to catch us mid-conversation. Come hang out for a bit. Somewhere along the way, being known turned into the goal itself — a whole career path for a generation of kids. But there's an older, quieter idea worth holding onto: seek to be worth knowing rather than be well known. We get into what actually makes a person worth knowing (hint: it's rarely the impressive stuff), why being seen and being worth knowing aren't the same thing, and how you point your kids — and yourself — toward the deeper one in a world that rewards the opposite. It's a short one. But it might be the kind of thing you keep thinking about. If you love what we do and want more behind-the-scenes fun, bonus episodes, and exclusive content, join the walk in love. A trip is not automatically a break. It’s a change of scenery — it’s often just a change of scenery with kids, which is still a lot of parenting, just in an unfamiliar kitchen. In this episode we walk through the questions worth asking each other before you go: what this trip is actually for, the one thing that matters most, and how you’ll share the invisible load once you’re there. Because moms sometimes carry more on a trip and dads usually get to set some things down — and neither of those is a reason to come home more tired than you left! Become a member here - walkinlove.supercast.com BEFORE THE TRIP — GET IT ON THE TABLE: What's this trip actually for — rest, alone time, adventure, family memories, seeing people, or just a change of scenery? What's the fantasy version in our heads vs. the realistic one? What would make this feel like a win for you? For us? What did the last trip teach us — what worked, what wrecked us? Who's coming, and does that change who's "on"? What kind of trip is this really — travel day, resort, grandma's, camping, road trip? What's the hardest part likely to be? Moms: are you already keeping score before we've even left? What would it take to set that down? Dads: when you picture "relaxing," are you setting your responsibilities down — or setting them on her? What's each of us quietly dreading or a little resentful about? DECIDE THE ONE THING: What's the one thing that matters most for this trip? If we only get one thing right, what is it? What are we each willing to let go of to protect it? What would make us come home saying "that was worth it"? BUILD SUPPORT AROUND IT: Who's on duty in the mornings, and who's on in the afternoons? How are we splitting the invisible stuff — snacks, naps, sunscreen, the bag, the meltdowns — not just the visible stuff? Who's the default parent at any given moment, and how do we hand off cleanly? When someone's off duty, are they actually off? What are we lowering standards on — eating out, paper plates, more screen time? What home rule are we suspending for the trip? What's our plan for the hardest window so it doesn't torch the whole day? What's our signal for "I'm drowning, tap me out"? Are we checking in halfway through? If one of us is spiraling, what do we want the other to do (or not do)? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A follow-up to Monday's episode on rest — this time less about the theology and more about real life. We get into what rest actually is, why it's not quite the same thing as relaxation, and the fact that the two of us go about it in completely different ways. No formula here. Just a conversation about what actually restores you, and a little permission for yours to look different than someone else's. We’ve practiced Sabbath more than three hundred times now, and the strangest part is what it taught us. Not how to relax — we’re still bad at that — but how to trust. In this episode we talk about what it means to set your tools down one day a week (and how to know what your tools even are), the two sneaky ways we get rest wrong, and why the days that weren’t restful still did their work. Plus the manna in the wilderness, and what it has to do with your laundry. If you love what we do and want more behind-the-scenes fun, bonus episodes, and exclusive content, join the walk in love. Monday we said what the Proverbs 31 woman isn’t. Today, behind the members door, we actually read her — all of it, verse by verse. And the woman we found isn’t a checklist. She’s trusted with money, land, and a household. She’s strong and generous and genuinely unafraid of the future. She speaks with wisdom and kindness in the same breath. And the root of all of it isn’t effort — it’s the fear of the Lord. We’re treating this passage less like a test you pass and more like a syllabus you get to study for the rest of your life. And we end it the way it was always meant to end: with a blessing read out loud. Become a member here - walkinlove.supercast.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Everybody knows the Proverbs 31 woman — the one who does it all, makes it all, and somehow makes the rest of us feel three steps behind. She's become a meme, a guilt trip, a Pinterest board. So this week we did something kind of embarrassing: we actually read her. And it turns out the 1950s sandwich-making housewife everyone pictures isn't in the text at all. The first word said about her is a warrior word. She runs a business. She laughs at the future. She might not even be a literal woman — she might be wisdom herself. This is Part 1: what she's not, and our first real look at what she actually is. Next week, we go in verse by verse. It's TJ's birthday, so we're doing a year in review — not the highlight-reel kind, the real kind. We go back through everything one ordinary year actually held: the chaos, the milestones we forgot about, the quiet shifts that don't announce themselves. What changed, what surprised him, what he's done worrying about, and what he wants to carry into 41. If you've ever hit a birthday and realized a whole year went by while you weren't looking, this one's for you. Come look back with us. We have a whole language for the gift of motherhood — soak it up, you were made for this, it’s sacred even when it’s invisible. We’ve barely written one for fathers. In this episode we name some of the things we wish more dads actually heard: that you were made for this even when you haven’t figured it out, that the weight you carry is real even when no one calls it that, that you’re not the backup parent or the helper but a teammate standing beside. It’s honest, it’s a little funny, and it ends with a liturgy for the one who walks beside us. If you’re a dad, this one’s for you. If you’re not — it might be the one you send. What started as a family movie night pick turned into a much bigger conversation. Not about politics. Not about hidden messages. Not about whether a movie is “appropriate.” Just a simple question: Why are so many kids movies… bad? In this members episode, we’re talking about the difference between a movie being entertaining and a movie actually being good. We explore what we call the “minionization” of kids entertainment, why we’ve lowered the bar for children’s media, and why stories matter more than we often realize. Because just like we care about what our kids eat, read, and learn, maybe it’s worth thinking about what they’re watching too If you love what we do and want more behind-the-scenes fun, bonus episodes, and exclusive content, join the walk in love.
