And I'm Hari Kondabolu. It's a new year and on the podcast Health Stuff, we're resetting the way we talk about our health, which means being honest about what we know, what we don't know, and how messy it can all be. I like to sleep in late and sleep early. Is there a chronotype for that or am I just depressed? Health Stuff is about learning, laughing, and feeling a little less alone. I'll be joined by David Roth of Defector and the writer Edward Ongueso Jr. With guest appearances from behind the Bastards, Robert Evans. It could happen. Welcome to We Talk Back Podcast, a production of iHeartRadio and the Black Effect Network.
Tam Bam
We're just two unapologetically black women with an opinion. Who talks back.
AJ Holiday
What's up, y'?
Tam Bam
All?
AJ Holiday
It's your girl, A.J. holiday. And what's up, Tam Bam? Hey, y'.
Tam Bam
All. I love y' all so much. We made it 2026. I'm so happy I missed y'.
AJ Holiday
All.
Tam Bam
I feel like I haven't talked to y' all in a while, right? Happy New Year.
AJ Holiday
Happy New Year, man.
Tam Bam
Happy. Feel new.
AJ Holiday
Do you feel renewed?
Tam Bam
I do. I'm starting a new year with some good energy. I cannot lie. I really feel good about the possibilities of 2026 until my on New Year's. Well, we're gonna get into that. We're gonna get into that. But how was your weekend? Let's start there like we always do.
AJ Holiday
Ciao. My weekend was full of just catching up on life because, like I said, I was on vacation for a week. So just catching up on all the cleaning my house up, which I did clean before I left, but I don't know if some trolls or theories was in here when I was going, but I feel like my got re dirty. I don't know.
Tam Bam
Re dirty is crazy.
AJ Holiday
Said to re clean, so just cleaning up and visiting my family. My daddy's still in a damn hospital. He's getting better, though.
Tam Bam
Okay, that's good. That's good.
AJ Holiday
He should be out of rehab this week. So I made a bread pudding this weekend because in Barbados, bread pudding is a big thing, so I had, like, four different bread puddings over there. So when I got home, I'm like, I got some old ass bread. Let me make some bread pudding.
Tam Bam
Oh, what you put in a bread pudding? Because I don't even know what goes into that.
AJ Holiday
I make it basically essentially how I make my French toast. It's just like. I don't use a whole lot of heavy whipping cream though. A little bit of heavy whipping, mostly condensed milk. Or you can use regular milk, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, like four eggs, depending on how much bread you're doing. And you just break your bread up. So if you got some old hamburger buns or some shit you just don't want to throw away, make a bread pudding right quick. Break it up in the bowl. Make your little custard on the side with your milks, your eggs, your butter. Also I think I left that out. Sugar, nutmeg, and pour that shit on top and bake it in the oven for like 45 minutes. You got a whole dessert from some old ass bread. Not moldy bread now, but.
Tam Bam
Right, but just bread that's just about to go bad.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, bread pudding. I love bread pudding.
Tam Bam
I've never done that. I probably still won't, but if you make some, I get it.
AJ Holiday
That was my weekend child.
Tam Bam
How was yours this weekend? I just recuperated. Same. It was quiet, you know, I just feel like the beginning of the year, especially with hair. There's nobody coming to get their hair done after the. Before the new year is crazy. Right after, it's a ghost town. Everybody is like, it's very quiet. So I didn't have very. I probably had like two hair appointments over the weekend. And then I just came back and chilled. Oh, no. Saturday I did start exercising again. I haven't been back to the gym yet though. I've been doing outside outdoor shit because everybody's sick. So I just know that gym is a cesspool right now. So I'm just gonna give it like to the 14th or 15th. That's when people start giving up. And then I'll go in there and, you know, come back to the gym. But yeah, so I just started working back out and I started the carnivore diet with my friend.
AJ Holiday
Just all that meat. Yeah, girl, your farm gonna be so stink. Okay.
Tam Bam
I love meat though, so. Oh, that sound like I'm a hoe, ain't it? I'm talking about food.
AJ Holiday
A hoe for the food. Same thing.
Tam Bam
So. But I mean, really, it's just keto is what I seem. It feels like I'm doing, you know, that's what it's feeling like I started that a couple days and I've been exercising, so. And I'm, you know, headed to. I'm outside working out, and then I'll be in the gym after people finish because, you know, everybody. Do you feel like everybody's sick right now?
AJ Holiday
I got sick, like, right before vacation. Like, I went to go see my daddy in the hospital that Sunday. By Monday evening, I was fucking sick. Like, real life sick. So I just started beefing up on the zycam, on the vitamins and the vitamins. And I was a little bit sick going out of town. So, yes, everybody's sick. And then I saw some. They have some super fungus or some shit out here now that they said is not curable. Y' all can't tell me Covid wasn't a fungus or not a fungus, but a parasite, right? Something. Something happening all over again. Because, yes, everybody is sick. And I guess maybe this time of year people are normally sick, but it's just. It just every year it just seems.
Tam Bam
Like, yeah, well, that's what I'm trying to avoid. So I'm just doing outside workouts right now. Because your girl got thick again. Y' all had. Got so fine last summer with that 75 hard. And. And now I'm back at. I'm back big birthday. But that's okay because I. If I could get it off one time, I can get it off again.
AJ Holiday
A big birthday. You ain't never big birthday, child. Let's get in the sins got going on on. On in the world, child. Aside from war.
Tam Bam
Yeah.
AJ Holiday
Talk about some fun. Oh, y'.
Tam Bam
All.
AJ Holiday
Of course we're not organized this beginning.
Tam Bam
Yes, we are. Listen, alcohol. All right, I got it. While you getting to it. I got it.
AJ Holiday
I got it.
Tam Bam
Okay.
AJ Holiday
All right, y'.
Tam Bam
All.
AJ Holiday
So the alcohol industry has lost over $830 billion in the last four years. This article says as millennials and Gen Z's are drinking less than our past generations. Do you agree with that?
Tam Bam
I think they crackheads. So at least coke. Yeah. I think they just not. Alcohol is no longer the drug of choice. I'm not. I don't think people are just healthier, do you?
AJ Holiday
I don't know. It says global alcohol Companies have lost about 830 billion in market value over the past four years as consumers drink less and rethink alcohol's role in their lives. A Bloomberg index tracking about 50 major beer, wine and spirits producers in now. Excuse me. Is now 46% below its 2021 peak, which that's like kind of during COVID Right. Reflecting that analysts describe as a structural long term change rather than a temporary downturn. Filling, falling consumption, driven by health concerns, generational shifts and lifestyle changes that's hit earnings across the sector.
Tam Bam
I mean, I kind of.
AJ Holiday
We might be on some other shit. Like we, like, I don't drink that.
Tam Bam
Much, but we older. Listen, Millennials, it says millennials and Gen Z's are drinking less. Influenced by wellness trends, weight loss drugs, cannabis alternatives, and the growing popularity of non alcohol products. And then it's also being influenced by rising costs because of tariffs and weakened demand in China.
AJ Holiday
What alcohol is China sending over here? I thought like the tequila supposedly come from Mexico and child, who knows?
Tam Bam
I was looking for some alcohol alternatives yesterday and I found this thing called hi yo H I Y O and it had good reviews, like a 10 out of 10. So I'm gonna try. And it says it gives you a euphoric feeling without all the. That is the poison. Because alcohol, let's call it what it is, it's poison.
AJ Holiday
That's all, you know, literally poisoning your body. Yeah, no, I feel like, I don't know, I feel like people still, like the regular people still be drinking. Like. Yeah, I don't know that we on extra drugs though.
Tam Bam
Like. Like you suggest. Well, I don't remember extra ads. I don't remember people when I was young. I don't remember people casually doing shrooms. Oh yeah.
AJ Holiday
I think with more information surrounding psychedelics during our generation, you know, people realize like, you know, microdosing might be good for you versus being on an Adderall or some type of prescription drug. You know, you still with shit from the earth, you know, so you got your weeds, you got your shrooms.
Tam Bam
Yeah.
AJ Holiday
And alcohol really isn't.
Tam Bam
It's poison.
AJ Holiday
Say it's pure sugar, but most of it is not even pure sugar. It's like man made additives and all that in our alcohol. So I don't know. I'm gonna lean towards the more natural. If you got to do something, do something natural.
Tam Bam
So look at this.
AJ Holiday
Natural too though.
Tam Bam
But yeah, I would go say that y' all don't do it. It's not good for you. All right, listen to this. Strippers donated over $250,000 to children's hospitals and are now the number one donor of toys of Toys Hospital history in Portland. I guess Toys in the hospital's history in Portland.
AJ Holiday
Right.
Tam Bam
So there's a heartwarming story out of Portland is proving that degeneracy can come from Unexpected places. A group of local exotic dancers has become the largest private donors of toys to Portland Children's Hospital, breaking their own record this year with thousands of gifts. Gifts collected for kids in medical care because nothing sells more than pussy. So if you. Let's be clear, you know, they can afford to do.
AJ Holiday
That's a tax deduction. Okay, so I'm pretty sure they running the S Corp out that coochie, right? And they are all, what is it, 1099 employees.
Tam Bam
And they're probably all moms. A lot of them are moms, you know, so they want to make sure them kids, if nobody got something for them kids in hospital, them strippers got it and I applaud them. So that's a beautiful thing for the holidays. I mean, the holiday season is over now, but just a little warmth to share.
AJ Holiday
So I saw this article. It says men who marry after 35 have the lowest divorce rates of all male groups. Divorce rates in the United States have steadily, steadily declined over the past three decades, dropping from 19 divorces per 1,000 married people in 1990 to 13. That's not even a big jump whatever. To 13 per 1,000 in 2021. However, this overall decline hides major differences in age groups. So apparently, and I agree with that, after 35, I think men are more ready and more inclined. Right. And more mature to get married.
Tam Bam
And they lose they dick don't work as good. Not saying that all the time, but, you know, like, I feel like men get older, they lose the desire to just be all the time. Whereas women, our desire increases.
AJ Holiday
Exactly. Beef it up, like, where's the dick? Okay.
Tam Bam
Right. So I mean, but that's a good thing and that's hopeful too. So.
AJ Holiday
And you know how they say, like having kids older in age for women, you know, the kids are more likely to possibly have autism, things like that. But actually it is the male's sperm and how it degrades over time, that old ass sperm. So men really need to be trying to have kids before 33. Because after. Because just think about it. The baby comes out to man first, like, that's your kid. I add my little shit to the pot, you know, once it gets in me. But really, that's your old ass sperm. It's a lot of things. They make it like. It's as if it's women's problems. It's just not right. So I might need to be getting married at least before 33, actually, preferably, I don't know.
Tam Bam
But not if you're not ready because you're just going to be making more broken homes, and we don't want that. So what are we talking about today? I don't know.
AJ Holiday
Something. Something your ass done anyway, y'.
Tam Bam
All.
AJ Holiday
It's New Year. Happy New Year again.
Tam Bam
Okay.
AJ Holiday
There's something really special about the beginning of the year. I love the beginning of the year. I feel like it's always, like, a new promise, right? And it's not because everything suddenly changes, but because we get a fresh opportunity to move differently. Right? You can use this time to reinvent yourself if you want to be somebody completely different. They say it only take, like, six months to change your whole life. So if you can lock in from January to June, you can be a whole nother. A whole nother bitch.
Tam Bam
Right? Who's that? It's me.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, exactly. So this season is not about pressure or approving anything. It's about clarity, ease, and choosing what feels aligned. So we want to trust ourselves a little bit more. We throwing out all the overthinking, and we just going to make room for more joy, right? So this year should feel more open. It should feel lighter. It should feel like possibilities.
Tam Bam
I love it.
AJ Holiday
So that's what I want to talk about this year. I mean, this episode for this year, for the beginning of the year.
Tam Bam
Okay, let's get into it right after we come back from this commercial. All right. First, let's start with what you did to celebrate the new year.
AJ Holiday
I started. So I have been saying I wanted to take a solo trip for a long time. So one of my main Christmas gifts was a trip to Barbados, my boo thing. But I was actually there. It was supposed to be three days, but this nigga missed his flight that Sunday came on Monday. So I got some time to spend with myself in paradise, y'. All. As soon as I got off the plane on Christmas Day, I wrecked a fucking rental car. That's how. That's how I started my vacation. But. And I cried, you know, like, literally just pulled off from the damn car rental agency and hit the curb just like, as if I never knew how to drive. Because over there, you got to drive on the right side. Like, the wheel is on the right side of the car, and you're driving on the left side of the road. So my perception was just offed.
Tam Bam
Yeah, Off. But you were able to push, push through. And you got another car. They gave you another car, right?
AJ Holiday
Luckily, yes, I did get another vehicle, but, yeah, so I had. That was one of my main birthday Christmas gifts. What the hell? One of my main Christmas Gifts was Barbados. So that's how I started.
Tam Bam
And y' all were there quite a bit for a while. A couple, yeah.
AJ Holiday
Christmas Day to New Year's Day.
Tam Bam
Yeah, that was good. So I had absolutely no plans for the new year. And a friend of the show, a friend to both of us, Jonathan, reached out to me that morning, New Year's Eve. He was like, what you doing tonight? And I was like, nothing. He was like, let's go get food. So we went to Ruth Chris that night, and he was, you know, he's such an. He was like, oh, God. God is so funny. I'm spending my new year with a blue haired feminist. I can't. I don't know if you can tell, but my hair is dark. You can't.
AJ Holiday
That's how I'm about to say who.
Tam Bam
It's navy blue, but you can't really tell in this color. But it's navy blue. So he called me a blue haired feminist. So we went to Ruth Chris and he said, the bag is up. He said, you can't eat. You can't eat more than what I can pay for, so just order. And I went crazy. I was like, exactly. I would like. Is that like a steak? I will have a lobster tail as well. When you see my drink get low, just bring another one. Don't ask. Like, I just went crazy in there. I had crab cakes. I went crazy. And we sat in there and we got up and we just brought the New Year in. And Ru. Chris eating and drinking? Well, no, we left a little after midnight. They were closed already. But the staff was drinking like they wasn't, like, pushing nobody out, you know, so this is a good time. And then that night, I went home and I watched Stranger Things. I did a shroom and I watched Stranger Things. And I was, like, having the time of my life watching that.
AJ Holiday
Strand you.
Tam Bam
You took. No, he gave it to me, but it had, like, a little. It looked like a bull on the front of it, on the front of the bag. I had to ask him because I was very introspective. I was very like. And I was just like a kid in here watching the show, like, jumping on the bed and jumping off the bed. It was just such a good time. I had such a good time. So that was my New Year. And then New Year's Day. I almost hit up one of my own because I was lonely. But I got on Hinge. Y'. All. Y' all need to check out hinge. Like, what? I met somebody. This is about to be my Husband, y'. All. And I'm claiming it here on the first episode of 2026, that I'mma marry this man. Oh, my God. So that's how I say. And I said I wasn't gonna mention it, but.
AJ Holiday
And you better because it comes you and I'm gonna be like, we were.
Tam Bam
All rooting for you.
AJ Holiday
It better happen.
Tam Bam
So. Okay. Take that long share one thing that you're excited about for this year.
AJ Holiday
Ah, let me see. You know, I'm a little bit. I feel more motivated, right. I think last year and shit. I don't even say last year. I mean, the last four or five years, I have been trying to get out of my own way, right. So I have clearer vision. I know all my bullshit, right? It's nobody else's fault if I don't get all the things done this year that I need to. So I'm just excited about just straight up executing. Just see. Seeing what? There's nothing that can stop me from many things I want to do. So I'm just excited to execute. I'm excited to be more disciplined. Right. I don't want to say I have resolutions like, getting disciplined is not my resolution. Like, I'm already. That I'm already doing it right before. Before the new year I started. So that's it. By after this year, I might be a whole. Another bitch too.
Tam Bam
You will be claiming. So I'm excited about. I. I'm going to make sure that me and you go on a tour this year. If I don't do nothing else, I'm getting that done. So that is high on my priority list for 20, 26, but. And AJ are going on tour. Y' all coming to a city near you. You heard it here first. I'm going to make sure that happens. I'm excited about that and I'm excited about new business ventures. I got my hand in a couple pots this year that I'm.
AJ Holiday
Why don't you.
Tam Bam
You know. You know that I just kind of like, literally, God has really dropped some opportunities in my lap, for real. And so I'm just going to work hard, harder than I've ever had before on, like you said, execution, which is where I struggle. You know, I made an appointment with. Because I'm in South Carolina right now, the South Carolina Small Business Incubator, which is a free service where they help small businesses execute. And I made an appointment with them for next week because I just need someone to say, do this. Okay, now. You need to do this. Okay, now since you did that do this. So, you know, that's what I have. And then I'm just very excited about this new I just told y' all about. All right. All right, so my next question. One feeling. You want more of this year? H.
AJ Holiday
I want more love. I want more consideration. I want more. That's too much.
Tam Bam
It was one, but go ahead.
AJ Holiday
More happiness, right? More bliss.
Tam Bam
That's a good word. Yeah, that's about it, I think for me. I want more.
AJ Holiday
Peace.
Tam Bam
I want more peace. I want peace even in chaos. When there's chaos around. We have. This country is at war. There's all kind of shit going on. And I just want to find peace in the midst of any chaos that may come my way. And I just want to security. So those are definitely two words for me. And love too. But you know, that's my, that's my word all year, every year. So I don't, you know, I feel.
AJ Holiday
Like all things come from it. That's why. Right. Everything comes from love. Comes from love. If humanity loved each other more, they were not. It would not be all this going on like it is right now. So. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I, I, I, I.
Tam Bam
Okay, so in order for you to get those things, how are you going to move differently? Like, what are you going to do differently?
AJ Holiday
You have to be all the things you want, right? So you have to be more loving. You have to be more considerate. I think for me, I probably don't consider myself more than I consider other people. So maybe that's another thing I might need to work on for 2026. And not to be like selfish, because being selfish sometime is self care. Right? But just making sure that the things that you say you want to do for yourself, that you actually do them. So just do what the fuck you say you going to do. I want to do what the fuck I say I'm a do for me, right? In 2026.
Tam Bam
Yeah. I think I want to be more intentional. And I just one things that one thing that I have decided that I have to do if I want any of these things to come into fruition. Did I say that word right?
AJ Holiday
Come to fruition.
Tam Bam
Okay. I have to abandon fear. I have to abandon fear. Fear. And not like scared like in a corner, but like just.
AJ Holiday
What other people think.
Tam Bam
Fear of other people's opinions or expectations or fear that I'm going to fail or fear that some, like especially in matters of relationships, that people are going to leave me. You know those fears. Yeah, I had to, I have to abandon those fears. You know, and just what will be will be, you know, and be okay with that. And then another.
AJ Holiday
I think sometimes the things we fixate on we kind of manifest.
Tam Bam
And that's the thing. Another overthinking. I will overthink some. I'll be laying in the bed, can't sleep because I'm overthinking some. I ain't got no control over, you know, like, girl, go to bed. Right? So that is definitely something that I'm going to do differently this year.
AJ Holiday
Let me think of something else I'm going to do differently this year. I know I say this all the time. I'm not arguing with people no more, but somehow I still end up. It already happened. One of my friends we were talking about, like, just random and I.
Tam Bam
Is it a friend?
AJ Holiday
I get random phone calls from people all the time. Right. And sometimes I'll answer and sometimes I don't. And when I say random, I mean, because this is not like people who I talk. These are not people in my day to day life. For real. It's just like people who still have my phone number, essentially, but I consider them acquaintances or whatever. But just getting into like, like I feel like people be calling me the podcast. I'm not potting unregular phone calls no more.
Tam Bam
Like, what the do you want?
AJ Holiday
Like, why are we going back and forth, like as a camera in a. In a mic in front of us? Yeah, I'm not doing that. Get off my phone.
Tam Bam
Yeah, that's fair. You have the right to do that because please don't call me with that. I know you know I have a podcast, but that's not what we're doing here.
AJ Holiday
Do people do that to you? Like, do people call you to debate about things? Like they ask your opinion about stuff. They call you opinionated or asking your opinion on things. And then I guess when you don't agree or it just ends up in a, like a back and forth thing. No, and I'm not going back and forth to you.
Tam Bam
I don't have that going on because I just let people have it. Like, okay, that's how you feel.
AJ Holiday
I need to let people have it in 2026.
Tam Bam
Yeah, just let them go on. And then I'll be like, oh, my mama calling me. I exit the conversation.
AJ Holiday
People be like, I don't need to be right. But yes, you do, because if you didn't need to be right, this conversation would have ended 30 minutes ago.
Tam Bam
Right. I just. Yeah, I let people feel how they feel because sometimes people are just Committed to misunderstanding you. And they just want someone to go back and forth with, and I'm not going to give you that. So I just be like, okay, you know, okay.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, you got it.
Tam Bam
Yeah, you got it.
AJ Holiday
That sounds in 2026.
Tam Bam
That's a perspective, and I'll leave it at that. That's a perspective. I don't say I agree with it or not. I just say that is one of them or interesting.
AJ Holiday
Right.
Tam Bam
All right, let's play a little game. All right. So you're gonna say what the year feels like to you. Okay, so this year feels like a song. Pick a song.
AJ Holiday
I mean, the year just started, but.
Tam Bam
Yeah, but I mean, like, in hopefulness.
AJ Holiday
I don't know. I mean, the first song that comes to my head is, like, CeeLo Green crazy. Like, I remember it. I remember. I remember when I lost my. There was something so special about that player. I listen to that song often because it reminds me of where I was versus where I am now. Right. So it's just like, mentally just all the things. Right. Because there was a point in my life where I felt like I was losing my fucking mind. And it wasn't that long ago. I can't say it was something pleasant about that place.
Tam Bam
Right.
AJ Holiday
Yeah. I've experienced that and within the last few years, and I'm not in that space anymore.
Tam Bam
That was a hit for Tila.
AJ Holiday
Yeah.
Tam Bam
Crazy. Yeah. That was a good one for me. Alicia Myers, I want to thank you. I want to thank you, Heavenly Father, shining your light on me. Oh, I sounded a little good right there, didn't I? No. Well, just play the damn song. We gonna play a snippet of those two. All right, though. All right. This year feels like a season. Which one for you?
AJ Holiday
Oh, it's always summer, girl. I am. You know, I'm a Gemini. Okay. Conceived in the cold, born in the heat. Okay, so it's summer for me.
Tam Bam
Oh, Cece, I was thinking about, like, food seasoning, so I was gonna go with, like, sugar. What? Okay, so I would go with. I'm sorry, because it's sweet. All right, so spring, if you. All right. But if you had to put a food season on it, what would it be, though?
AJ Holiday
Oregano.
Tam Bam
I don't know.
AJ Holiday
It's healing. It tastes good. Like.
Tam Bam
Okay, that's good.
AJ Holiday
Oregano.
Tam Bam
And then I would go with spring, because I think spring is. Spring is really the new year for me. You know, like, everything's renewing, so. All right, the next one this year feels like a drink. What drink?
AJ Holiday
It's Red wine for me. And I don't even drink that often, but I found myself buying red wine. This because of Charlemagne Ass. So Jessica birthday was in November, right after Thanksgiving. So we went to a little surprise get together and I, I took my significant other and Charlamagne was like, basically he doesn't drink for real. Like he'll do like wine or champagne, but he doesn't drink liquor. But Charlemagne convinced him that red wine is like gonna make his dick hard forever. So now I stocked up more red wine in his bitch. So when he come. No, but it just, it's good. It is good for heart, health and circulation. You know what I'm saying? It's good for men to drink red wine. So I would think that that's going to be my, my for this year. So I have stocked up on some Costco red wines.
Tam Bam
Listen, we get a Costco ad like y' all need to send us some money, y'. All. We've been. She been supporting y' all for years on this show.
AJ Holiday
I got a couple Kirkland brand red wine chow merlot and there's a couple other. I don't be knowing for real. I just pick up whatever has the highest alcohol volume.
Tam Bam
You should try. You should try. Maybe I'll gift this to you for your birthday. Brown Family Winery out of Napa. It's a black owned winery, black owned vineyard. And they have some really, really nice red wine. And it's out of Napa and they're black, so there's that. So. All right. The drink for me would be a ranch water. I don't know if y' all know what that is, but.
AJ Holiday
What's that?
Tam Bam
It's tequila soda water and lime. And the reason why I choose that is because it gets the job done without all the added. And that's what I want in 2026. Let's get the job done without all the. So it's just. You can use whatever liquor you want, but tequila has zero carbs. So tequila soda water and a lime. And I like the soda water to be. That is tapo. Chico. I think that's how you pronounce it if I say anything wrong. Yellow with the yellow label. Yeah, yeah. And it's T, O, P, O, Chico. I think that's how you pronounce it. It's really good. And those taste so nice together. And you get the job done without all the Period. All right. And then lastly of the game this year feels like a word. One word. What would it be?
AJ Holiday
It's bliss for me. I don't like be saying. I don't like to say bless. I know people. To me when people say bless is like sarcasm because it's be less. You know, you break it up. And usually when people say it is girl, have a blessed day, they don't really mean it. Yeah, so bless. Bliss me for 2026. I want to.
Tam Bam
Yes, that's a good word. All right, so for me it's agape. And that's that unconditional, selfless love. A love that's not based on feelings or physical attraction or reciprocity. A love that seeks well being of others without expecting anything in return. So yeah, agape. That's what I want. All 2026.
AJ Holiday
Is that an English word?
Tam Bam
I think it's Greek.
AJ Holiday
Oh, agape.
Tam Bam
Yeah, let's go for it.
AJ Holiday
For you, for your vocabulary.
Tam Bam
Yeah, write it down. Get it, Get a tattoo. Get a tattoo.
AJ Holiday
Agave.
Tam Bam
All right, so we're gonna try it a new way. Name one thing you're not going to overthink this year.
AJ Holiday
I don't know, I feel like some. I, I've already like been mastering some things. Right. I feel like in the past like most of my over overthinking was surrounding relationships. It really wasn't like regular day to day life shit or it was just like thinking about what the fuck somebody else doing to me basically. So I don't have those, that type of. I'm not in that energy. I don't have those type of problems anymore. So I don't know if I, I don't know what I would be overthinking about right now. I still don't sleep good at night. I still be thinking I'd be thinking about a bunch of shit. It's just not. Is that overthinking? I. I think about it.
Tam Bam
You can't sleep at night because you're thinking that would. That is probably the definition of overthinking.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, I think it's just, it's just how do you overthink?
Tam Bam
Were you obsessed about some and you think about it multiple times, different scenarios, playing it in your head, oh, what if it happens bad?
AJ Holiday
Obsess about is my weight.
Tam Bam
Well, I don't really stop overthinking that too.
AJ Holiday
And I better stop thinking about food and what I'm gonna eat. Like that frustrates me and stresses me the out all throughout the day. So if I feel a little tiny, hideously, a little something is gone. Just thinking about what I'm gonna eat and cook every day.
Tam Bam
Stop overthinking that jelly Go to sleep. And as far as my weight concerned, like, I am a little birther right now, and that's a. Okay, this like it. And I'm gonna look back at this body one day when I'm old and miss it. So that's why I, like, I look at old pictures where I was beating myself up and I was like, damn, I was fine. So I just. I'm just gonna accept my body at every stage, know, and just be okay with it because I definitely overthink that all the time. I will beat myself up in the mirror. And I'm just done, you know, I'm done overthinking that. And I'm done overthinking my relationships with people. Everybody, whatever it is, is what it is, you know, I'm overthinking. I think it's especially my friendships that I. Not even with, but the friendships that have dissolved. In what way? I will play it out in my head and replay it. And what could I have done different? What could they have done that ain't. You know, I'm done with all of that too, you know? Like what? Everybody ain't meant to be a part of every chapter, and I have to be.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, let me add that too. I agree. Because one of my, if I have to say resolution was just. I. I don't want to talk about old relationships no more. Sometimes it might be relevant because we. If we talking about relationships or something like that. But I really don't want to. I don't want to think about the. No, I don't want to think about old besties.
Tam Bam
Yeah.
AJ Holiday
Because I feel like even those relationships, like, what your female friends that you are no longer friends with. I feel like those actually hurt more than romantic relationships for sure. Like. Yeah, with the men, it's like I was done with you. The feet, the relationships with women, it's almost like. It's just a weird. Well, I already told you because I feel like you know my secrets and you just walk around the world knowing shit about me. I don't like that.
Tam Bam
This happened to me recently. And it was this two girls that I used to be cool with, and I am no longer an acquaintance with them anymore. I mean, one of them, we never really fell out. We just kind of stopped talking. And then the other one I do not with because she did some shit that I just felt like was shady. So I saw them. I was in a restaurant in Charlotte. I was out with this guy. I was just kicking it at the bar. Nothing serious, just friends. And they were in There. And I wasn't sure. Should I say, be polite and say hi or just keep walking past some like, I ain't see him? So I chose the latter. But what you. What would you have done? Would you have said hello? Because, I mean, why. I'm saying hi to you. That's how I feel at this point. Like, I'm done with politeness, y'. All. You don't like me. Clearly you don't like me. I don't like you either. I mean, I. I'm indifferent, honestly. So it's okay. We don't have to fake politeness at this point. And that's how I feel.
AJ Holiday
Like, no, I think it's definitely okay just to be a. That somebody used to know. Like, you don't know me no more.
Tam Bam
Right?
AJ Holiday
So, I mean, but me personally, when I see. When I see strangers, I say hi. I guess it would have to be more intentional if I walk by somebody that I have known.
Tam Bam
You know, if we had to pass each other's path, maybe I would have been like, hi, Right? But. But it was. Yeah. Or something like that. But we didn't have to, so. But I was, like, thinking about, like, am I. Should I say hi? Should I not now I won't even. I ain't even gonna get that. No energy at this stage of my life. It is what it is.
AJ Holiday
Yeah.
Tam Bam
All right. One thing you're open to this year.
AJ Holiday
New partnerships.
Tam Bam
Yeah.
AJ Holiday
Why is my focusing like that? I don't know. This is hard.
Tam Bam
I. I should have, like. Because.
AJ Holiday
Why did you tell me what we was talking about beforehand?
Tam Bam
I accepted.
AJ Holiday
What am I open to this year? Just all the possibilities. New friends. Because new friends get you places old friends can't.
Tam Bam
So, yeah, that.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, we don't have those old relationships anymore. But I like new people. I like making new friends. So I'm. I'm definitely always open to that. I'm open to new ways to make money. Okay.
Tam Bam
Always.
AJ Holiday
I don't know. Come back to me. How many people in the room.
Tam Bam
Okay, guess what? I'm a whisper, y', all, so come close. I'm open to having sex without a condom this year. I'mma do it without a condom this year. I ain't gonna have a baby if I keep with a condom every time. So I'm open to that in 2020.
AJ Holiday
I guess I'm open to. With the condom. I'm open to. Safe set. No. Hell no. Let me get that.
Tam Bam
I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna try it. Okay. And then the last thing. One way you're choosing Joy on purpose.
AJ Holiday
I mean, you know, happiness is definitely a state of mind, right? So you could choose to be happy, or you could choose to be sad. So on. I'm going to purposely be happy every day. And I. I'm. I'm generally a happy person. I mean, it could be things, you know, throughout the day, throughout the month, throughout the year. You may have some type of little ill feelings, but yeah, I'm going to purposely be happy. Let's see if I could be happy 365 days this year.
Tam Bam
Yeah, I mean, that's hard, but it's a try. I think one thing I'm going to do to purposely, you know, choose joy. Anytime I have an intrusive thought, I'm going to try to combat it with two good thoughts. Anytime I have a thought, like, towards myself, like a negative. I'm not good enough, or I'm not smart enough, or I'm not funny enough, or I'm not pretty enough. Are you getting old? Every time I hear that in my head, I'm going to combat. It was two good things about myself that I like and I like a lot of about me, you know, So I can't.
AJ Holiday
We be beating ourselves up.
Tam Bam
Yeah, man. We be beating ourselves up. So that is my. That is my goal in choosing Joy this year and how I'm going to do it and how I'm going to practice it. So guess what I got for us. And we're gonna go to a commercial, but guess what I got. What? We got a dumb story. We got one. Start the year off somebody already dumb.
AJ Holiday
Then I brought that into 2026.
Tam Bam
All right, y', all, we'll be right back and we'll get into it, All right? Do you want me to read this? Are you gonna read this? It's kind of long. She took some time. She had some time go.
AJ Holiday
You got it. Oh, my God.
Tam Bam
Okay, so. Hey, ladies, I already know. Please don't yell at me. Too bad. Damn, she's starting out okay. I met this man in October at a friend's kickback. Tall, charming, good job, very soft spoken, King, energy. He asked for my number that night, and we were inseparable almost immediately. Like daily FaceTimes. Falling asleep on the phone. Good morning text, good night texts, sending memes all day. First red flag that I ignored. He said he doesn't really do social media because it causes drama. He told me he deleted Instagram but still had one for business. I said okay because I didn't want to seem insecure. Second Red flag. Every time I went to his place, it was always late at night. Never daytime, never weekends. He said he worked weird hours and liked his privacy. His apartment was very clean, but no personality. No pictures, no mail, no food. Just vibes. No food. Just dick over there. No late night dick.
AJ Holiday
Okay, got it. Right.
Tam Bam
That's basically talking about just vibes. No, no food would have had me up out of there quick. I don't care if you ain't got no pictures on your wall, but you ain't got no food in here. All right, third red flag. I asked him once if he was seeing anyone else and he said I'm not entertaining anybody. Seriously? I thought that meant me. Apparently that meant something else entirely. Fast forward to December. He comes to my birthday dinner, meets my friends, posts a picture of my drink on his story, but not me, and tells me I like to keep us. I like to keep what I care about offline. I ate that shit up you. Easy girl. We love you though.
AJ Holiday
It's okay.
Tam Bam
It feels good when it feel like somebody loving you. Okay, so now here's where it gets ugly. Oh, it ain't ugly yet. Okay, one night I'm scrolling TikTok and I see a girl doing a get ready with me to make dinner for my man video. I click her page for no reason and it's his apartment. Same couch, same kitchen, same bare ass wall. I scroll. There are months of videos. Cooking for my boyfriend. Date night with my man, soft life with my partner. I confront him immediately. He says I'm jumping to conclusions. Then he says she's his ex. Then he says they're working on things. Then he finally admits they live together and have been together for three years. How the fuck you ain't seen no remnants of no woman in there? It's hard. He must have be like, I don't.
AJ Holiday
Know because I day time, no weekend, but at night, during the week, like how many times you over there? Yeah.
Tam Bam
And where was she at? She must be a nurse because I remember a tried me like that. A traveling nurse. Yeah. Anyway, so it says and have. All right, so they've been together for three years. He tells me he was planning to leave but didn't expect to meet someone like me. He says I made him realize what he really wants. He says he didn't tell me because he didn't want to lose me. Meanwhile, she thinks they're happy. So I blocked him. Then he cash at me, $500 with a note. Can we please talk? I accepted it, of course. Then I blocked him Again, the worst part, I'm mad at him, but I'm also embarrassed because the signs were slapping me in the face and I chose vibes over logic. Please tell me how to recover my dignity in the new year. Well, at least you ain't still fucking him just at your house now. So we're proud of you for that.
AJ Holiday
Yeah, you gotta let him go. You know what I'm saying? If he's not married to this person or kids and all, if there's no like extra baggage, maybe once he rids that situation, he can spend the block on you if you happen to be available. But you, you gotta let him go. We be overlook. What are you talking about? You saw, you felt something wasn't right and you could tell us you clicked on somebody page randomly if you want to. I feel like your ass was searching Y for a.
Tam Bam
Okay, searching. You found her randomly? It's billions of people on Tik Tok and somehow you just found this randomly? Girl, tell the truth. It's okay. We ain't judging. You was looking for her and you found what you was looking for. But it's all about what you're going to do with that information after you find it. So I applaud you for blocking him and taking the money. Don't send that money back. And if y' all be like, I don't even want his money, I hope y' all rich. Because if you're not rich, keep the money, girl. But block him and leave him alone. Because it's just so many people out here, so many decent men. You don't have to put up with that. And don't come to second to no in 2026. And men just.
AJ Holiday
Men just lack integrity, you know what I'm saying? Because you can literally tell a brand new woman exactly what you got going on and she might still choose to fuck with you just because you were honest.
Tam Bam
But would y' all love to put.
AJ Holiday
Y' all put women's lives in your hands by lying, right, for no reason to a stranger because he would lose her. Like, you don't even know me to even care about really losing me. You just selfish.
Tam Bam
And what did he get you for your birthday? Because if he cash after you, 100. I mean 500. And I'm sure he got you. He posted just a drink. I want to know what the gift was dick.
AJ Holiday
At the house that night. I don't know, man. Listen, we choose an ease. Anything that is confusing, get away from it. Because relationships do not have to be that hard. We make them Hard right? The minute we see some bullshit, get up out of there because you know who's doing it, men are getting the fuck out of there. The minute you do some shit they don't like.
Tam Bam
Right.
AJ Holiday
They are not putting up with half the shit we be asking they. They ask us to put up with.
Tam Bam
Yeah.
AJ Holiday
Getting out of there. So just be like a man in that way. Don't listen to Steve Harvey with the other bullshit in his book. Be like a man and set boundaries. And. And if somebody is habitually, you know, stepping over those boundaries, you get their.
Tam Bam
Ass up out there, because all you're gonna end up with is itchy coochie because her bacteria, your bacteria. That's what you.
AJ Holiday
That's it.
Tam Bam
Looking cute walking around. And you had to listen in the grocery store. Your coochie itching. That's not fun.
AJ Holiday
He's trying to scratch it.
Tam Bam
Discreetly. Discreetly. Rubbing your thighs, legs together.
AJ Holiday
Pulling your leggings up.
Tam Bam
Pulling your leg.
AJ Holiday
Girl, we ain't doing that.
Tam Bam
No.
AJ Holiday
Okay. No.
Tam Bam
Not this year. No itchy coochie behind a. This year. We're not doing it.
AJ Holiday
Life, man. Such is life. Such is life.
Tam Bam
But we appreciate you for listening to the show and sending us your story. Y' all send us your stories so we can talk. And we love y'. All. We really. But hopefully we just share Yalls and not ours in 2026.
AJ Holiday
I had a dumb bitch story in a long time, child.
Tam Bam
I just had one, remember? I don't know if y' all listened to that episode of. We were on Good Mom's Bad Choices, but my dumb story went viral over there, so. Yeah. What's your last? Last.
AJ Holiday
No dumb. In 2026 period.
Tam Bam
Do.
AJ Holiday
Do everything that feels good to you, okay? That's relationships. That's love. That's business. It has to feel good. That's my last. Last.
Tam Bam
My last last for the new year one. I love y' all so much. Again. I love y'. All. I missed y'. All. I miss talking to y'. All. Those two weeks off felt good, but I missed this. Yeah. No, because we did it on Monday, and then we didn't talk for two weeks. You know, that's two weeks before. We had an episode came out that week, but we hadn't had to run our mouth for two weeks.
AJ Holiday

In "Agape....Agave," TamBam and AJ Holiday kick off 2026 with high spirits, laughter, and their signature candid, comedic repartee. The conversation revolves around new beginnings, intentionally designing the year ahead, lessons from the past, and what it means to seek joy, love, and growth as modern Black women. Along the way, they dissect generational shifts in alcohol consumption, offer personal and relationship guidance, and pick apart a real-life "dumb story" submitted by a listener. The tone is raw, relatable, and unfiltered – equal parts life advice and hilarious sisterhood.
