The personal attacks on Jesus were more than most of us could bear. As humans we tend to let our pride and emotions get in the way. Leading us into temptation and making way for anger. When we allow ourselves to react to emotion, we lose sight of God. Today Pastor Ben teaches us how Jesus calculated every move, every word, and every miracle to bring honor to the Father. This is a character trait we need to adopt as well. Keeping in mind that our ultimate goal as believers is to bring honor to our Lord. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he begins his message “Honor And Dishonor.”
Imitation is one of the ways we learn best. When we're young we look to those around us to be an example for how to act and speak. We've heard it said that, “we are who we choose to imitate.” God sent His One and only Son to be an example for us. An example truly worth imitating. Today Pastor Ben teaches us that sometimes as Christians we have to really think about our actions and who they are imitating. It's easy to let the world pull us away from the Father, and the example He set for us. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he continues his message “A Matter Of Life Or Death."
There are so many people waiting to hear that trumpet call. Waiting in anticipation for Jesus's return. Praying that today will be the day. The world is in chaos and for those of us who know Jesus and what awaits us in heaven we're ready. But what about those who don't. Are we doing our part to bring as many people to the kingdom of God as we can? Today Pastor Ben teaches us that we're called to do the same thing as Jesus. Sharing with everybody that God desires for all to have eternal life. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he continues his message “A Matter Of Life Or Death.”
Being a Christian doesn't mean that your life is perfect, or that you're perfect. Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves. Thinking that if we make a mistake the Lord will be upset or that we will be unworthy of His love. He doesn't expect perfection from us. He knows we're flawed and He extends grace and love to those who will repent and follow Him. Today Pastor Ben teaches us that the love of Jesus is unwavering. He's always there, waiting with open arms to welcome us home. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he begins his message “A Matter Of Life Or Death.”
We are born sinners. Sinning is something that we do naturally. It isn't something that we have control over. Nor is it something that we can use to work for us. If we continue to blindly walk in our sin, we will eventually become slaves to it. Jesus came to break the chains of sin and set us free spiritually, with grace and love. Today Pastor Ben teaches us that through Christ we can have a different life. That we can become truly free from bondage. This freedom is truth and a promise that God has made to us. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he continues his message “The Truth Shall Make You Free.”
When we fully commit ourselves to the Lord it shapes and molds us into new people. This change happens from the inside out, and it never stops. It directly affects the way we think, act, and treat those around us. When we desire a character of continuance, the Lord will work in our hearts and in our lives in a way that molds, shapes, and changes us daily. Today Pastor Ben teaches us how meaningful our lives can truly be if we indeed chase after the Lord in everything we do. Knocking on your neighbor's door doesn't necessarily mean that they're home. It just means that you're knocking hoping that they're home. Friends Jesus isn't that way. When you knock on His door morning, day, or night He answers. He's there. He's always there. As Pastor Ben just shared, many of the leaders of Jesus's time were not looking for the Jesus that arrived. But some were. Some were truly seeking the Messiah that their ancestors had told them about. Some wanted to be saved by the Jesus that stood right before their eyes. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he continues his message “Life And Death.”
Wow, that's quite a statement. “Satan loves religion,” that sounds almost counterintuitive to what we think about our faith in Jesus. But notice the different words I just used, religion and faith. Religion is just a set of beliefs about a higher power. Faith in Jesus is a narrow path that's defined by the word of God and is hallmarked by a personal relationship with Jesus. Religion is the opposite of relationship. Pastor Ben invites you today to leave behind your religion, and enter into a personal relationship with Jesus. So, take a stroll down any local bookstore aisle and you'll find floor to ceiling books about post-apocalyptic worlds, and a future that is doomed, and that's not even in the religion section of the store. Turn the corner to the religious section and it's littered with books declaring when Jesus will return, and exactly what will happen. Friends we don't know when Jesus is going to come back, and frankly there's a lot of mystery about the end times. You'll learn from Pastor Ben today that your best protection against fear about the end times is to be grounded in the word of God. So I'm no mechanic, but I do know when the temperature gauge in my car quickly spikes to the right it's time to pull the car over. Something is wrong. The dashboard on your car provides all sorts of indicators for what's actually going on with your car. When the needle is close to that letter “e” it's time to get some gas, right? Well your walk with Jesus is no different. Anger and shortness with your family members is a dashboard light of your spiritual life. Indicating that you haven't spent enough time with Jesus. It's time to pull over, get quiet and listen for His voice. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 8, as he continues his message “Jesus Is The Light Of The World.”
