I was clinically dead for seven minutes. But this journey that I was on felt like an hour or two. I open up my eyes that I'm standing in this marble, white, polished building. In my left ear I hear, my name is Alan. I'm your spirit guide. And my guide said to me that where I am is inside the orientation center. When we hear about someone's NDE story and they die, they find themselves looking down at the scene and then they become aware of this beautiful white light. Why my story is so unique is my whole story starts on the other side of that white light. And my guide said, this is the Life review. And all of a sudden, every one of these screens lit up. And when I looked at them, each screen was playing a different episode of my life. And that's when I realized, nobody really dies. They just go somewhere else.

Welcome to the Healing and Human Potential podcast.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
I am so honored to bring to you today's episode. I dive deep into a conversation with somebody who died.
Host (possibly Alyson Briga)
He had a near death, having died for seven minutes.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
And what he was shown in that time will change the way you see life, purpose, death, and what truly matters. Let's dive in. So, John, I'm so happy that you're here, and I know we're going to get a chance to dive into your story, but first, can you share with us a little bit of the context about where you were in your life before you had your near death experience?
John Davis
Sure. When I had my experience, I was 21, I was this young guy, and the only experience I had ever had with anything about religion was my upbringing. My dad was Catholic, and he used to take my sister and I to church about two or three times a week and then also on Sunday. So I was raised in Catholicism. One of the pivotal points for me, though, was when I was 11 years old and my great grandmother Grace had passed, we called her Grandma Grace, and we all went to the funeral. And back then they had caskets in the service area. And after the service, we all took our turns walking up to say our goodbyes. And I remember when it was my turn, I walked up and I looked at her in the casket. It was. I just had this feeling that everything that she was my Grandma Grace, the things that she loved, her joys, her sense of humor, that can't just be gone. There's got to be something else out there. But my only foundation was really Catholicism until I had my nde. And that's when I realized, oh, my gosh, nobody really dies. They just go somewhere else. So that's how. That's where I was at the time when this whole thing happened for me, my whole journey.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
So you're raised Catholic and you're 21 years old. Take us back to the day that you had this experience. What happened?
John Davis
Sure, sure. Here's how the whole thing started. My dad was in sales for his whole career, and one year he won a sales contest. And part of what he won were these mopeds, or what we would call scooters today. And we used to ride them all over the neighborhood. Well, one day I'm out riding, and I had an accident, and I slammed into a tree. And the way that I landed, I tore the tendons off my right hand. And I needed to go into surgery to have them reattached. Well, I had never had surgery before. I don't think I'd ever really spent any time in a hospital before. So I had no idea what to expect. So my mom drives me down to this hospital or the clinic, and I go in the operating room, and they start to give me the anesthesia to knock me out. And something happened. I had a horrible allergic reaction, and it stopped my heart, and I died. So the very next second, I open my eyes, and I am standing in the most beautiful building I had ever seen. And that's how this whole thing starts. From there. It was after the anesthesia stopped my heart. I was clinically dead for seven minutes. But it felt like this journey that I was on was an hour or two. I had no concept. The time was only seven minutes.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
I need to hear all of the details. You're there. You're in this building. No concept of time. Share more.
John Davis
Yeah, here. Here's. So I open up my eyes that I'm standing in this marble, white, polished marble building. More than. I mean, it was the most beautiful building I've ever seen. It was so long, I could not see the end of it. It could have been miles long. Well, in my left ear I hear. My name is Alan. I'm your spirit guide. Well, back in 1987, nobody was talking about spirit guides. I mean, the only thing I could think of was an angel is how I was raised. So what happened is my guide, Allen, tells me everything that's going on with this experience. He's telling me everything I'm seeing, everything I'm shown. He's telling me in my ear. So I look over to my right, and the first thing I notice are these beautiful white marble columns, maybe 20 or 30ft high, about 6ft apart. They were Absolutely beautiful marble columns. As far down as you could see in the middle of this building were these marble tables, about the size of someone's average kitchen table. And they went also all the way down as far as you could see. And there were two people sitting at every one of these tables. And my guide said to me that where I am is inside the orientation center. And let me. Let me back up for a second so your audience can kind of get a little bit of a backstory of what makes my story kind of unique. A lot of times when we hear about someone's NDE story, there's some kind of an accident, or, like me, they're having surgery and they die, and they pop out of their bodies, and they find themselves looking down at the scene, and then they become aware of a tunnel, and they start moving down this tunnel. And at the end of the tunnel is this beautiful white light. But before they get to it, they're met by somebody, a loved one, a family member, a friend, who tells them, it's not your time. You have to go back. Well, what they did with me and why my story is so unique is my whole story starts on the other side of that white light. On the other side of the white light is a building that is called the orientation center. And this is where we all go when we finish a lifetime. So my guide said, look to your left. So I looked over to my left, and there were all these doorways or tunnels that looked like they had been cut out of solid marble. Absolutely beautiful, these beautiful doorways. And when you looked inside of them, it was like looking into space. Well, my guide said, look at the next door or the next tunnel. So I looked up. There was a man coming through. He was an elderly gentleman, probably in his 80s or 90s. He was doing this. He had his right hand over his chest, like he had pain. And my guide said he just passed from a heart attack. Well, the. Remember I talked about those tables in this. In this building, all the marble tables, the people that were sitting there, they're called orientation counselors. And my guide told me that the reason that they're there is. Is because most people don't remember where they're from, because we're not from Earth. Earth isn't our home. We're from the other side or heaven or the afterlife that God created for us. So most of us don't remember. And we have this fear, kind of like we talked about a little bit ago, that the greatest fear of humanity is the fear of dying, because most people don't remember where we're from. So what the orientation counselors do is they are there to greet people when they first pass, to let them know, you just finished your life. You're back home now. So as this man was standing in this doorway, this woman stands up. She walks over to him. She takes his hands in hers and walks him back to the table. And they sat down. And I could see that she was talking to him, but I was too far away to hear what she was saying. But my guide was telling me that she was simply telling him that you just finished your life on Earth. You passed from a heart attack, and now you're back on the other side. And he told me to watch this man. So, Alyssa, I'm watching him, and the most bizarre thing happened. He started to change from a man who was in his 80s or 90s to a young man in his early 30s. And I wish that I had asked my guide, why was this. But at the time as all of this was happening, I didn't know that I actually died. I was just taking on this whole experience, listening, seeing everything that I was being shown. And I think if I had known I died, I would have asked so many questions, but I just didn't know that. So he turns into a young man, and he stands up, and he walks down between the columns. He walks down three of these steps into what I call the gardens. And if you have any questions, feel free to answer. Ask me anything that comes up.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Yeah, I mean, I have so many questions, but I want you to keep going, and then I'll go in.
John Davis
Sure, sure. So he walks down these three steps into what I call the gardens. I don't know if that's what they call them. This is what it looked like to me. These beautiful, gorgeous, ornate, totally manicured gardens with the most green grass you've ever seen and flowers and plants and trees. Absolutely beautiful. And there were all these people there. And my guide told me that whenever we pass, when we come back home again, we all have a reunion. And all the people that were there were all the people that this gentleman had known in his lifetime who passed before him, either family members, siblings, grandparents. All these people were there. Plus all the people who knew him before are all there to congratulate him. And my guide, Alan, said that we forget how big of a deal it really is when we come to Earth, because Earth is one of the hardest of all the planets. So it's a really big deal when we come here. We all have our Mount Everest moments. I call them you know, the dark nights of the soul where we all go through tough times and there are many, many souls, it was explained to me, that don't want to come here because it is so hard. So we have to be warriors and fighters to actually come to a place like Earth. So when we get back, all these people congratulate us. And it was like watching this gentleman, it was like a huge, big party. They were clapping, they were hugging this man, telling him what a great job he had done. And what I learned is that not only are all the people that we've known are there to greet us, but you know what else is there? Our animals, Any pets that we've had in life. God created all of them with souls and they make the transition to the other side just like we do. And I was able to see two of my cats that I had growing up. I was like, oh my gosh, that is so wonderful. So not only do we get to see all of the people we've lost, but all of our animals are there too.

And then what happened after this? This is where my guide started to take me on this journey. And what he did, he took me to these different places that were what I think of it as being like. Like a college campus. You know how college campuses have your science building, your English building, your history building, but they're all in one kind of a general campus area. That's what it felt like where I was. I don't still. I still don't know where exactly where I was, what. What it's called. But all these buildings seemed to be in the same general area. And it was very busy. There were a lot of people everywhere. So he takes me to this one building, and it's this gigantic rectangular building. It was so large. We have nothing like it here on earth. And it had white marble columns all along the outside, all along the perimeter. So we go on the inside. And he takes me to a room. It was a perfect circular, round room, and it looked like a theater. And above my head were all these movie screens in a big circle. There must have been like maybe 15 or 20 of these of these movie screens. And my guide said, this is the life review. And all of a sudden, every one of these screens lit up and I. And when I looked at them, each one of these screens was playing a different episode of my life. One of them had me as a little toddler. One of them had me as an infant. One of them had me as my first day in kindergarten. And every one of these videos was playing. And so I learned that when we finish a lifetime, we actually come back and have a life review to see how we did. And there were two things that happened in this life review that I thought were so fascinating. We can actually feel how our actions affected other people. And it was explained to me that the greatest teacher of the soul is to go through a life review. So there was an event on one of these screens was playing, and it looked like watching a movie just of my life. There was a little kid in our school, his name was Troy in elementary school. And one day we were out at recess, and Troy had something wrong with his legs. He had either Ms. Or Parkinson's, something where he couldn't walk without crutches. So we're out at recess one day, and he falls. So I ran over to him. I helped pick them up, put his crutches back on and helped him. Just like anybody would do that. We would all do that. And I never thought anything about that. Well, when I was watching that life part of my life review, I could feel how I affected Troy and how much he appreciated that. And it was something that I never even thought twice about. And I learned that the other side, those are the kinds of things that they really value. Those are the things that mean something to them. Well, the other part of the spectrum on a life review is that if somebody intentionally hurt somebody else by the actions in their lifetime, they also have to feel how those people felt. And that is where the greatest learning comes from. Because what I learned about this part is that God never created a hell. Hell was invented by man, by humanity. God doesn't toss away his children any more than any of us could toss away our own children. He gives people as many chances as they need to learn and to develop. But if somebody actually intentionally hurts someone, they have to feel how their actions made that person feel. And that was called the life review. The next part, he takes me to another gigantic building with marble columns. A lot of these buildings he took me to, and I don't know why this is, but a lot of them are made. They look like marble, like Greek, Roman kind of architecture. Not all of them look like that, but a lot of them do. And I don't know why that is. So he takes me to this second building. We go on the inside. He takes me to a theater in this room, looked like a regular movie theater that we would go to today. And he tells me, my guide said, I want to show you past lifetimes. Well, this was weird, because being raised Catholic all my life, we're never told about past lifetimes. It's not something that we believe in. So I was really skeptical about this. And in front of this theater was a big movie screen. And all of a sudden, it turned on, and it was showing me. I didn't look like I look now, but I knew it was me. I was an elderly man. I had a shaved head. I was wearing a beautiful red gown. And it was in a monastery. And my job in that life was to teach little kids how to be monks in this monastery. And Then that life disappeared. The next screen lit up and it was me again. But I was, I guess, what I would call a shoe peddler. I had a wheelbarrow, a wooden wheelbarrow, and I had all of these shoes stacked in this wheelbarrow, and I was pushing it down a cobblestone road. And my job in that life was I fixed people's shoes and I take them back to my workshop, wherever it was, fix them, put them in the wheelbarrow, and take them back to everybody in the community. And that life occurred somewhere in Eastern Europe. And the first life where I was that monk, I was somewhere in Southeast Asia. And then that one disappeared. Then the third one shows up, and again it's me. And I'm standing in this rickety old wooden boat on a lake or an ocean. I don't know which one it was. But I was casting out this fishing net and pulling it back in like this, hand over hand. And part of my job in that life was to be a fisherman, to help feed the village. And I had never believed that we had past lifetimes, because I was never told that. I just believed what I was told. But my guide told me that we have always been. We are as eternal as God is eternal. And we have been existing for eons. And so, of course, if you want to have a lifetime, you can. You can have as many lifetimes as you want. Nobody actually tells us that we have to come into a lifetime. And it's simply because the person wants to learn the other side, or heaven is a perfect place that God created for us. There are no wars, there's no hunger, there's no poverty, there's no disease. There's nothing of any kind of negativity or conflict to work through. And God set this whole thing up by having lifetimes that we can come into a lifetime to experience the things we can't experience on the other side for the whole purpose of learning and developing. And so the past life was totally new to me. But now it makes perfect sense because I understand that the concept of eternal, of eternity. Well, the next place he takes me to is this beautiful, round, gigantic building. It was. Had a big, huge dome on top, and they had white marble columns all along in a circle of this building. Absolutely beautiful building. And my guy told me, he said, this is where we go when we plan a lifetime. So we go on the inside of this building, and there's people everywhere. And he walks me up to this marble table, and sitting on the table is a scroll. And what it Looked like. It looked like. Have you ever seen Egyptian papyrus paper? It kind of looked like that. This old kind of parchment in a. All rolled up, and there was a blue ribbon around it. So I picked up the scroll and I took off the ribbon and I laid it out like this on the table. And my guide told me what the scroll was. He said that everybody who comes into a lifetime actually plans out their life ahead of time. Nobody is an accident. Everybody has specific reasons for being here, and everybody has a different reason. Everyone has a different goal and what it's like. He explained to me that it's kind of like. And this is interesting we're doing this interview now because this is so much into the new year. These scrolls are like what people do when they make New Year's resolutions at the end of the year. What do they want to accomplish? What kind of goals do they have? What do they want to achieve? What. That's what we write on these scrolls. We plan things out, like, what country are we going to live in? Who are our parents going to be? What language are we going to learn? Are we going to go to a university? What kind of careers are we going to have? Are we going to have kids? All these major elements of our life are actually planned for to help us achieve what it is we came into life to learn. Well, when I went to try to read my scroll, it did this. It folded up and I wasn't able to read it. And I think the reason was because if I had known anything about what I had written for myself, I may have done something to prevent me learning that lesson. So I thought that was just extraordinary about, you know, we all have these life charts. So I looked over to my right, and there was this huge, gigantic wall full of scrolls. And my guide said, everybody who was having a life at this time back in 1987, had these scrolls. Everybody had a corresponding scroll. And the reason they're there is when we, every one of us, when we finish our lifetime, we come back to this building, we get our scroll and we look at it to see if we achieved what we wanted to achieve. And I thought that was extraordinary. And before we left that building, he took me to another area. It looked like a huge, gigantic library full of. And what was interesting was all the books were the same. They looked like Encyclopedia Britannicas, you know, those thick binders that have those thick books in there. And they were all. They were all kind of purplish, kind of maroon color. And he walks me up to this book and all the books had gold lettering on them, but they didn't go horizontally. The lettering went down, vertically, up and down. And the one book he took me to said Nina N. And he told me that Nina is your soulmate. I had never heard the term soulmate before. I didn't even know what that meant. But apparently, when God created all of us, he created everybody with a perfect mate. We all have soul mates. All of us have one of these books in this library. And what the books contain is everything about that soul. The gifts that God gave them, the experiences that they've had in other lifetimes. Everything about that person is in these books. So many people have asked me, when am I going to meet my soulmate? How come I never found this person yet? And I don't know if the soulmate comes into every lifetime with us, I know that they can. I just don't know if it happens very often because all of us learn by having different relationships. And if we had the perfect mate with us in our lifetime, maybe we wouldn't learn as much as we could because we have that person on the other side for eternity. And what's so interesting about all of this experience was that on the other side, when we plan a life, it feels like we're going to be gone for three or four months. Because they don't experience time like we do, where for us, we might be here 80, 90 years or more, and it feels like a long time. So on the other side, when people plan a lifetime, their perspective is so completely different than ours is. And I tell people that don't feel like you're a failure if you didn't find your ultimate partner. Maybe you weren't supposed to. Maybe you didn't plan that. Maybe you didn't plan to come in to have a marriage or have children. Some people come in to work on careers or work on certain experiences. We all have different reasons for coming here. So never feel like you're a failure. Everybody is successful just to be just for the fact of coming here and experiencing what it's like to be on.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
This planet at this point. Had you realized that you had died?
John Davis
No. No. Everything was happening. Was happening so quickly, I didn't even have a chance to think. I was just listening to my guide and looking at everything he was showing me. And it was. It was happening so quickly that I just. I didn't even have time to think. I was just taking everything in, I imagine. I don't know why we go there to plan a lifetime. It's just that's where we. We tend to go. Well, before I left this building, I looked over to my left and there was this huge, gigantic window. And it was the first time that I saw different people. There was this walkway outside the building, and all these people were walking back and forth. And you know what it looked like? It looked like if you go to, like, where you are, if you ever go to the city, like downtown Los Angeles at lunchtime, you see all these people walking around, going different places. That's what this walkway looked like. Well, on the other side. Oh, I'm going to. Before I forget, just so your listeners know, on the other side, everybody looks just like we do. The bodies are different. The bodies are perfect. They don't get injured, they don't have broken bones, they don't get sick. They don't age. But our bodies here on Earth do. But on the other side, everybody has just like we do our own personality, our own looks, our own habits. We're still the same who we are on the other side. So I look on the other side of this walkway and I could see the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. I've never seen anything like it here on Earth. It was a round lake. And you know what weeping willow trees look like? They kind of hang down like this. All their leaves were hanging down and they were floating on the top of this lake. Absolutely. Just breathtakingly beautiful. And my guide said, everything you like to do here on Earth, you can also do on the other side. If you want to go hiking, you can do that. If you want to play sports, you can do that. If you want to take classes, you can do that, go to lectures, go to music festivals, or just visit with people. We still do the same things over there that we do here. And I thought that was fantastic to know. This next place he took me to was my favorite of my entire experience. He took me to another building. This wasn't made of marble. It was made of. It looked like steel or polished metal. Just a beautiful. It looked like a stadium that we would go to to watch, like a football game or a soccer game. This huge building. So we go on the inside, and the first thing I notice is that it's super bright. All the lights are on. It's super bright. And there are thousands of seats in this building. And remember when you were a kid, did you ever take field trips to planetariums? Yeah. So did I. And my guide said, this is a planetarium on the other side. So I'm standing there, and there was a gentleman behind Me. And he was the person that loved to run this planetarium. And my guide explained to me that on the other side, everybody has jobs, but they're not jobs like we have here, where we have to go to work to pay bills. People's jobs on the other side, like vocations, they do what they love to do. And it has to do with the gifts that God created for everybody. Because we all have gifts that we were given by God. And we all tend to do those on the other side. Remember those people that I was telling you about, those orientation counselors in that Orient, in that first building? They love to counsel people. That's what they love to do. And the gentleman that was behind me, he loved everything about astronomy. Well, he said, let's begin. And all the lights went off. It was pitch black. And I sat down, and he said, when you look at the stars, this is what you see. And what he was talking about was everybody on Earth at their level of development. When they look at the stars at night, this is what they see. And all of a sudden, our sun showed up. And then Mercury, then Mars, then Venus, Earth, Saturn, Jupiter, all the planets in our solar system. And I could see them all on the. On the ceiling. And then they disappeared. And then he said, when we look at the stars, this is what we see. And all of a sudden, planet after planet started showing up. First there were dozens, then hundreds, then thousands and millions and millions of other planets. And he said to me, there is far more life in the universe than you can possibly imagine. And I love this part because I think there were two reasons why they showed me this. The first one, I think, was because they wanted me to tell people that Earth is not the only inhabited planet, that there are virtually unlimited other worlds. And the second reason, I think, was because they wanted me to tell people that Earth is not the only planet that we can have lifetimes on. And I know that sounds crazy, but it's absolutely true. And something I like to tell people is because I'm. I'm kind of a. An astronomy junkie. I love astronomy. And just for your listeners to kind of have an idea of how. What the potential is of this is an our galaxy, our Milky Way galaxy. They think that there are 100 billion planets just in our galaxy alone. And they think now that we have the James Webb Telescope, that there are 2 trillion galaxies in the universe. Well, if there's a hundred billion galaxies in the Milky way, I mean, 100 billion planets in the. In our Milky Way, and if every galaxy has yes, exactly. You can't, you can't even begin to comprehend.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Yeah.
John Davis
What that's like. And do you remember, you may not remember him, but do you remember the name Carl Sagan?
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Yeah, of course.
John Davis
Yeah. Okay, good, good. He had that show called Cosmos. He was the first one to say that if you look at planet Earth and you look at all the grains of sand on this planet, there are more planets in the universe than there are grains of sand on planet Earth. And I still can't even wrap my head around that. But apparently we can have lifetimes on other planets and God set that up for us. Because one thing that God gave all of us at creation was the desire to learn. And I think that's part of our spiritual DNA. We all love to learn, to grow and to develop, and we can still learn on the other side. But he created all these other worlds for us to learn. So you can for eternity. We can always continue to learn and to grow. So we leave the planetarium. He takes me over to this building. This was the largest building so far. It was a beautiful marble building. It was so long that I think it would take days to get to the end of it. There were no columns on the sides. There were columns in the front. And it had all these steps leading up to it. And what it looked like is our Supreme Court building in Washington, but it had way more stairs and it was perfectly beautiful white. So we go on the inside and it's a library. And this is where I saw people everywhere also, people were visiting, some people were reading, some people were looking for books. And my guide said, everything you've ever wanted to learn is inside this library. And they had two. I mean, they had huge wood bookshelves that were as far down as you could see, full of books. So he takes me over to the left hand side of this library to what? I looked at them, I thought, well, these are study rooms. Like all libraries now have study rooms. You can reserve and go study in them. So he walks me up to one of these rooms and there was a woman with jet black hair, straight black hair down to her waist. She had a red or a purplish kind of maroon colored tunic or a gown on. And she was sitting on a couch with her back facing to me and she was watching. And this was a really weird part for me. She was watching what we call today like a plasma flat screen television, maybe 50 or 60 inches, huge, mounted on this, on the wall. Well, back in 1987, we didn't have TVs like that we had those big huge clunker things that weighed a couple hundred pounds and you couldn't mount those on a wall. So I wasn't, I was just amazed by what she was watching. And my guide said, get closer to see what she's watching. So I get closer and I can see that she is watching a battle that was taking place between Native American Indians on horseback and the United States Cavalry on horseback in the plains. And I thought, well, she's just watching a movie. But my guide said she's watching history that happened 250 years ago here on Earth. And this is something else that was really weird. I didn't say this out loud, but I thought it. And my thought was, that's impossible. How could she be watching history? We didn't have video cameras 250 years ago. How could that is, how is that possible? Well, Alan, my guide, heard that. He heard me think that and he said everything gets recorded. And to this day I still don't understand how that's possible. How is it possible that a person's lifetime gets recorded where they can watch it? Back in the Life review and not only that, but the reason that this girl was watching this movie or this screen, she was really interested in learning about that particular era of Earth's history. Remember how we talked about that on the other side? You can still learn. This is one of the ways you can do it. You can go to the libraries, you can go to one of these rooms and you can watch living history as it actually happened. And I thought that was absolutely extraordinary because I love history. I can't wait till I get back because I want to go see what it was like for those young men on D day in World War II when they stormed the beaches of Normandy. I want to see what that was like. And we can. And that was. That's what I call the library. I don't know if they call it something different than that, but that's what it looked like. And you'll like this next part, the next place we go to. It was a castle. It's just like a castle you would see in England or France. This big gigantic stone made castle. Absolutely beautiful. So we walk on the inside and the first thing I notice is this sprawling red carpet all along the floor. And it made you feel like royalty when you walked in. And on both sides of these walls in the castle were these life sized paintings of kings and queens and princesses and princes, people in royalty who had lived in Europe during this time period. So if you were on the other side, and you wanted to learn about what medieval Europe was like. You could come to this castle, you could walk in and feel what it felt like to be royalty. You could look at these life size paintings of what people looked like and you could see what they were wearing. Well, in front of every one of these pictures, there was a podium. And on the podium was a book. In the book my guide told me was everything about that person's lifetime. So if you wanted to learn about King George or Queen Anne, you could come here and look at their picture, see the places that they lived in, and read about their entire life in this book. Well, right as I'm standing there looking at all these different paintings, out of my right eye, the corner of my eye, I see that there's a woman who's walking down this stairwell. And you know how castles back then had those round stairwells? She was walking down this round stairwell and her hair was strawberry blonde, kind of like the length of yours. And she was wearing kind of this peach colored outfit or a gown, a tunic of some kind. Well, I saw that she was walking up to me and I didn't, I didn't know what to do. So she walks up to me and she said, is there anything I can help you find? And Alyssa, I said the stupidest thing I said to her, no, thanks, I'm just looking. Like what you would say if you went to a store, a clothing store. I didn't know what to say. Well, my. And I, I said, no, I. I'm just looking. And my guide told me that on the other side, this woman loves to study history. So if you were on the other side and wanted to learn about medieval Europe, you could come talk to this girl, ask her anything about that time period. And I thought that was just. How cool is that? She would be like what we would call a professor on the other side. Here's the last part now of my whole experience. My guide, Alan, we leave the castle and he takes me to the most beautiful meadow I have ever seen. Beautiful rolling hills, green grass, wildflowers. It was a perfect day. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, and no wind. And all of a sudden my guide, Allen, left. And I thought I was standing in this meadow by myself. So I turned around to look at the rest of the meadow, and right in front of me, about three feet away, was a man. And he had a white golden robe and a golden sash around his waist. And he had gold colored sandals that laced up his calves. And I don't know how I knew this, because he didn't tell me his name. But it was the entity that we know as Jesus. This was Jesus standing right in front of me. Well, when I went to look at his face, there was so much light coming out of him, it was like shards of lightning. I couldn't make out his features. But he said to me, he said, you must tell them there is no death. And the very second he said that, boom, I woke up right back in that hospital room. And ever since that time, I have tried to live my life in such a way that I could tell people what they told me. Because it wasn't like he didn't say, john, when you have time, when it's convenient for you, when you're not busy, would you mind sharing what we showed you? He didn't say that. He said, you must tell them there is no death. And I think if I had one major lesson that I learned from that whole thing was that the happiest day any of us will ever know in this life will be our last day. Because that's the day we get to go home. Because like we talked about earlier, so many people are afraid of dying and there's nothing to be afraid of. And I know that my story is absolutely insane. That's. That's how it ended. Wow.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
And what a beautiful story. Thank you for being willing to share it with us. One of the things that stuck out to me was you said that nothing happens by accident and we came here with a purpose. Can you share just a little bit about what that means to you for people who are feeling lost? And I think that this conversation is giving them some orientation. But can you unpack that a little bit more for us?
John Davis
Sure, absolutely. The one thing I learned about those scrolls that were in that building where we plan a lifetime, that big, huge dome on top. Nobody comes here by accident. And I always talk to a lot of people who feel like they didn't achieve success in their lifetime. And it's almost like Earth is backwards. Earth is backwards to what life is like on the other side, because that's home. We're only here temporarily. It's kind of like having a part time job. When you come to a place like Earth, we're not here forever. And that's how God designed it. With so many people feel like, oh, I didn't meet the love of my life. I had a failed business, I had failed relationships, I failed this. And they think they haven't been successful. People don't realize that we don't come here with no purpose. There's an actual purpose for every single one of us, and it's different for everybody. It's really easy to get indoctrinated by our society, to feel like you have to be successful, that success is only based on how much money you make, how big your 401k is. When can you retire? Those things don't matter to God. They don't matter to anybody on the other side. What matters to them is who did you become? Who did you become in your life? And people ask me a lot of times, they'll say, well, what is the purpose of life? And what I learned was that there are really two reasons why we're here. The first one is to learn. We all come here to learn, to develop and to grow. But the second reason is to help others. And there's a. You've probably heard this quote before. It's a quote from the Dalai Lama, and he said, our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them. And I think if all of us could do just that, we really could make Earth into a paradise. Yeah.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
And I'm even thinking about that life review. I think some people might hear that, as if there's like, it's punishment. But I really hear what you're saying is that the entire experience here, I've had people on the podcast call it Earth School. Like, that's all here in service to learning and growth and loving. And so it's not like this is you did something wrong and, you know, karma, you're being punished or something like that. It's like, all in service to learning and growth. And I'm absolutely. I'm curious. Your association with the word God. I know a lot of people connect it with religion, but how do you define God now? Or how has that evolved for you? So since having this experience, this is.
John Davis
The craziest part about my nde. When I got back, when I came back in that operating room, I still didn't know what happened until my mom gave me a book by Raymond Moody. You've probably heard that name before. He wrote a book called Life After Life back in the 1980s. It was the only book that was out about anything, what we would call the paranormal. And I read that book in one day, and I realized where I was on the other side. That's where I was. And I went through this two month horrible, horrible depression because I didn't want to be here. I wanted to be back Where I was. And one of the main reasons was because on the other side, we can feel God. And it's the most extraordinary feeling I've ever felt. It is the unconditional love that God has for all of us. I don't think humanity can understand it. It's this unbridled love and a cherishing of every single one of his children. We're all his children. And I think that with God, it's just love. It's the most extraordinary feeling of love and compassion and joy that comes from this entity. And I think when I was standing there in front of Jesus, I think Jesus is the part of God that interacts with all of us. And there was something too that was really interesting when I was standing there with him. I didn't get any sense that there was only one religion to follow when you're here on Earth. It was more like follow the religion, whichever one makes the most sense to you and whichever one brings you closer to God. Because when I was on the other side, I didn't get a sense that there are Catholics or Muslims or Hindus over there. It was more like the religion is spirituality. The religion is love and compassion and kindness. And it wasn't like they're like we have here on Earth, where everyone just follows a particular faith. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just that I learned that there is no one religion on Earth that has all the answers. All religions have some of the truth, but not one religion has all the the truth. And I think that on the other side, people just value that. You pursue whatever brings you closer to God. There's no one right religion.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
What I love about this conversation is it feels like it reorients to a different operating system in Earth school where it's not about these physical, kind of like the goal line of life, what you would call in more Zentric tradition, where it's like pluses and minuses moving towards what you think you want. And it's more this vertical, more awakening into who and what you are, into greater love and learning and that learning orientation. So that. Because it never really made sense to me, it didn't feel fair. There's privilege in the world. Things are not quote, unquote fair. There's positive, negative in duality. And so. And yet everyone has a choice how we hold something, how we use it to grow and learn from. And I think some people might have to grapple with. I chose my parents or I chose these obstacles or these learning lessons. And, you know, that'll be everyone's inner experience to sit with. And I think at different points in our life, we. It may look clear in hindsight, but for anybody that's going through a challenging time right now, what would you want them to know or come back to?
John Davis
Here's something that I learned, too, is whenever we go through something difficult, that is where we learn the most. And it's actually on purpose, because we have to remember that on the other side, there is no negativity. There's no divorce, there's no layoffs, there's no death. There is nothing to work through. So when we come to Earth, we actually plan the different challenges that we want to go through to learn from that. The other thing, too, is that I would tell people who are in a tough position, and I know what that feels like. I have faced my own Mount Everest more than once in my life. But what I learned is there are more people on the other side rooting for us. We have no idea how many people there really are rooting for you. They want us to succeed. God wants us to do well. He wants us to learn everything we came here to learn. But they also know that we learn the best when we go through something difficult. Like, if you look at your life 10 years ago, you think, I don't want to go back to the way I used to be because of all the learning that we've become. Everything that we've become is all been through, working through difficult tasks. So I just want to tell people, never give up. Do your best. Because what you take with you when you leave this lifetime is everything you learned, everything you became, because that's what's meaningful on the other side, who you came, who you became, what you grew into, everything you experienced and learned, who that makes you who you are. And that's what we have for eternity. Do you remember the movie Gladiator with Russell Crowe? Yeah. In the very beginning of that movie, when they're in, before they start that battle, he says, what we do in life echoes in eternity. Everything that we do in life will have that with us forever. So always do your best. Never, never give up. Keep fighting, and you'll be so proud of yourself when you finish this lifetime.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
So beautiful. And I'm also just still with your guide. I'm curious, do you still have connection with your guide? Do you have an experience? Do other people have. It sounds like multiple people rooting, but does everyone have an individual guide?
John Davis
Yeah, everybody actually has a spirit guide. All of us and the spirit guide. And I don't know why? But the spirit guide helps us plan our lifetime. They help us plan the experiences that we want to have to help us learn the things that we want to learn. And we all have one. All of us have, have spirit guides and they're with us through our entire lifetime. I talk to my guide all the time, especially when I'm driving. I can't hear him anymore, though. People probably think I'm nuts when I'm in my car talking to him. But I talk to him all the time. I always say, alan, help me be a better dad, Help me be a better husband. Help me be a better friend. Help me do better than I did yesterday. But I just can't hear him anymore. I think some people do have that ability.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
I do too.
John Davis
But people have asked me, well, they'll say, did you come back with any gifts? Did you have any gifts from your, from your near death experience? And I tell people, no, I don't have any. I'm not psychic. I can't hear anything. I don't have any unique abilities. But I think what God gave me was the ability to remember every single detail of what happened. And that's, that's interesting because I usually have a really bad memory. Like I couldn't even tell you what I ate for dinner last night. But I can remember every single detail of that nde like it happened yesterday. And that has to be God.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Yeah. That feels like a part of your purpose. It feels like a part of. Yeah, that feels like one of the greatest gifts that you could receive. And how has that experience changed the way you live now? Is there something that you appreciate differently being alive from that near death experience?
John Davis
Oh, yeah, absolutely. I would say that it's the moments. Just, just experience the moments of your life because it goes by so quickly. Experience everything you can. Take in everything you can, learn as much as you can. Because before you know it, this lifetime will be over and you'll already be back on the other side. So enjoy life as much as you can. Learn everything you can. Take all the experiences. Don't be afraid of experiencing things, because that's why we're here. Remember Eleanor Roosevelt? She had a great quote. Somebody asked her, well, what's the purpose of life? And she said, the purpose of life is to live it. Live your life. Experience everything you can, because that's why we're here.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
I think I needed this conversation. Thank you so much for your gifts, your heart, your willingness to share your story so openly. I'm really taking a away, just a deeper knowing that this Life is about loving and learning and just orienting to that. That that is being in true alignment and that is living in purpose. So thank you for your heart. Thank you for just being on here and being who you are.
John Davis
Well, thank you so much for inviting me. I so enjoyed meeting you. And if anybody has any questions for me, they're more than, more than welcome to email me anytime they want.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Beautiful. And is there any other way or anything else that in terms of staying connected that would be helpful for people to know?
John Davis
Yeah, they can go to my website. It's. It's John J. Davis, NDE.com and my. A friend of mine created a lot of the buildings that I saw on my website.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Wow.
John Davis
So if they want to, if they want to go to the site to see what, what it looked like. And there's another, there's a building that is in the country of Turkey and it's called the Temple of Artemis. A R T E M I S that building. If they Google it, it looks just like the building that I saw in the orientation center.
Co-host or Interviewer (possibly Alyssa)
Beautiful. We'll put the links here in the show notes below as well.

This episode centers on John Davis’ incredibly vivid and detailed near-death experience (NDE) following an allergic reaction to anesthesia during surgery—an event during which he was clinically dead for seven minutes. John shares his astonishing journey on “the other side,” exploring multi-layered realms, life reviews, soul planning, and cosmic insights. His recounting aims to demystify the process of death, inspire a new understanding of purpose, and offer healing perspectives on existence and life’s challenges.
