Do the thing. We're not going to do the thing.
B
We're not doing any of the things.
A
Okay. We're not doing any of the things. Fridays for the Lord. We're back. Some technical difficulties, but not no more. We fixed them.
B
Ed.
A
We gotta promote Ed's stuff though. We can't not. We cannot promote ours, but we have to. So Ed, before we get into it, where can everybody find you?
C
Okay, so wow. Technical difficulties suck. But we're here so you can buy me two main places. One is my website, faithbyreason.net that's where my stuff has been for like over almost 15 years now. Almost as long as I've been married. We were just Talking about my 15 year anniversary with them. What with wife. But that is where you can find all my stuff there. You can find the revelation series, 60 episodes there. If you become a member, you can get all those. There's just free stuff there too. But if you become a member, you get all of that. Plus it's also where you access the spiritual warfare course which is going strong, hot and heavy. We're going to talk about that today because it's a 12 month course and we divided into, into three month quarters. The first three months which we've gotten past is defense. Getting to know yourself, building yourself up. It's going from where the enemy was pushing you back to where you were able to stand firm. Now we're on offense for the next three months and this is where you're pushing the enemy out. You're pushing the enemy back. You're going in office. We're going to talk about that in this episode. So you can sign up there at this point. You know, there are two tiers. One tier is for the. Where you're getting lessons every week and you're. And you. It's kind of self directed. You can take as much time as you want to get to get there. The, the second tier, which is higher level is where you also get personal private coaching with myself and John Lenhart who will also be at Bro Grove. And we, we have two hours a month where we get together with the folks and it's amazing. The reason I'm bringing that up is because we have to cut off the, the, that, that area for right now because we're so far into it. If someone were to join now and be part of the personal coaching, it would you. You'd be. Be too far behind. So.
A
Yeah, missing a lot of context.
C
Yeah, you'd be missing a ton of context. So we said that July was, was going to be our cutoff, but we're, we'll be starting it up again like early next year. And you can come back aboard if you, if you want the personal coaching because that's really been a game changer for a lot of the people. But, you know, I, if you really want to do it, you email me up. We'll see what we can do. But I'm saying in general, you can still be a part of the regular course. So that's, that's there. And also there's my, my patreon where patreon.com faithbyreason all new content drops there first. That's where you can be part of the Bible, the monthly Bible study where we go through the entire Bible in 12 months from the supernatural point of view. You'll get the Genesis series, the Revelation series is ongoing there, the Q and A's. And so that's, that's the place to be to get the content where it drops first.
A
Awesome. You know, before the, the episode started, in both of the pre shows, if you're listening to this, you don't know what we're talking about. We had some real technical difficulties the first go around. But we're back again. You were talking about this idea of spiritual attacks happening at night and you were kicking around the idea of maybe creating something that would be effectively, I suppose, what you would listen to before you go to sleep to get your mind and spirit right and kind of get your ducks in order before sleep. And you also mentioned how you listened to the, the Dark Waters episode that we did with James.
B
Yeah.
A
And how it was so. And I, I agree there was a lot of correlation between the things that you say and the things that we discussed with him just in regards to spiritual warfare and preparedness and, and how to operate within that realm. Can you talk maybe a little bit about that idea of this thing happens to you at night? Where should our minds be as we're getting ready to go to sleep?
C
I mean, so yeah, I'm not just kicking it around. I'm going to do it. This is something that God put on my heart. It's interesting because I think I've talked before how I want to make this my, my thing that I do this and nothing but. And you know, it requires, you know, having the, the resources to be able to, you know, continue to function and support myself, my family. But what, what's interesting is that when you set your mind to something, you know, it was something called the, the, I think it's called the reticular activating system in your mind, if I pronounce that correctly, like once you focus on it, then your unconscious mind starts bringing in opportunities and an idea that you. That were kind of there before, but you just didn't see them. And this was one of them because what something I do at night because, you know, my mind is flooded with stuff just from work and having a family and all those sorts of things. You need to quiet your mind. So, you know, I have these, these like sleep masks that has like speak, you know, headphones in it. And I'll just have something like, what do you call it? Binaural beats where, you know, get you, you know, theta wave and that sort of thing that kind of relaxes your mind a bit and, and then, you know, just positive talk affirmations that are just getting into a good place before you sleep. And, and when you wake up, same thing, you know, you're. You immediately, immediately become bombarded with all the things that are happening for your. To your day and how you start your day. It's pretty much how your day is going to go. And so I was doing that and God was just kind of told me, you know what, that you don't just need this. People don't just need this in a secular sense. They need this in a spiritual sense. Because a lot of people are dealing with spiritual warfare, especially at night and first thing in the morning. And the reason for that is that the spirit, your enemy, that our spiritual enemies, they come at us when we're at our most vulnerable. They do not, they don't want to come at us when we are at our peak performance, when we are very cognitive of things that are happening. But there is this period of time, this gap between when you're, when you lay down to sleep and right before you get into a deep sleep, you're in this area where you are very, very, I don't say programmable, but you are in a state where you're ready to receive.
A
That's interesting.
C
Your mind, you. Because, you know, our conscious mind is what blocks a lot of things from a lot of spiritual things because, you know, that's where our skeptical mind is. And we're like, oh, you know, God, that's fine, whatever. But when you, but in order to hear from God, you need to be in a state where you're receptive to God. And our conscious mind is, is what's. Is where we, it's where we live. You can't lie in our unconscious. It's. Our conscious mind is where we are where we can receive things. So in that moment, those moments right before you fall asleep is when your conscious mind is tamping down. And your unconscious mind, that's where you, that's where your dreams are. That's why you always dream about things that you're trying to figure out. And I know, Raven, you have a lot of very interesting dreams we've talked about. Yeah, that's because that's when you're, that's when you're conscious and your skeptical mind is not there. So you are really in your unconscious and that's where you are open to these things. So the whole point of that is it's a great time to start putting in positive thoughts into your mind, the things that you want to, because the resistance of your conscious mind isn't there. Conversely, it's also a good time for the enemy to attack because whatever is in your mind and that you're agreeing with, we talked about covenants before. That's where they get their power over you. So my, this idea that, that God gave me is to help people fall asleep in, in, in, in a state where they are getting the protection, the defense, the offense, the things that they need to, to fall asleep to. And it's going to be different than our spiritual warfare course, which is straight education that, that doesn't work with, with, that wouldn't work with this system because that's all conscious mind and you would never go to sleep.
D
Why is that time period so unique or so like. I totally have noticed that that time when you're in between sleep and awake is like the craziest, most profound thoughts come up. And like creativity happens. Like these great ideas happen. Like what do you think that is, Ed?
C
Well, it's because, and this is something that, that, you know, John Lenhart, my partner, will talk about when, when he, when he gets in next week for, for Broke roping. We can have a great conversation about. It is because your unconscious mind is 90% of your, of your brain. People talk about artificial intelligence and all that stuff. There will never be a supercomputer that is more powerful than the human brain because the, our, we, our brain, our unconscious brain sees everything, even things we aren't consciously aware of. That's where subliminal stuff comes in. It's aware of everything, but only 10%. That's what we, that's the conscious brain that we are in control over. So the reason that time is profound because as I said, it is when your conscious mind is like taking a back seat and your unconscious which is so powerful, is at the forefront. And that's where your behavior comes in. That's where your. All your emotions and all your feelings and all those things are coming into play when you're. Your unconscious. Your unconscious is what controls, you know, your heartbeat and your eye blinking and all those sorts of things. Again, 90 of who you are is in that unconscious, and it's what controls your behavior, your addictions, and your. Just real quickly. Your unconscious is not moral. It just follows patterns. Its job is to help you see reality and to follow patterns. So whatever you program into your unconscious mind is what's going to. Is what's going to come forth during your day. So if the enemy can program you unconsciously as you're falling asleep, then you're going to have a bad night and maybe a bad day. But if you are, you know, programming yourself consciously, so it's going to be a matter of, you know, the right Bible verses, the right affirmations are going to be a part of this. I'm working on the scripts for it now.
B
Yeah, that's. That's what I'm like, I was thinking about because I. I had went to bed and I was doing. I don't know if they're called binaural beats, but they were like, just like tones. This is like years ago, and I was using YouTube to pull some of these tones. And I'll be honest, one of them. It was like Indian flutes or something like that. Yeah, Indian flute tones. These guys are laughing at me.
A
They were.
B
They were giving me crazy dreams. Like. Like, not just bad dreams, but it felt like I was awake the whole night. Like, my eyeballs were open and it was horrific. And then some of them. Some of these. These what? Whatever. They're called the frequencies. Yeah, the frequencies. It would actually. It would like, kind of like massage.
D
Why were you listening to Indian flutes, dude?
B
Like, I don't know. Is this before, Like, I was.
A
It was kind of popular.
B
Yeah.
A
Remember when maybe it was. Dude, I was gonna say Rogan. That sleep doctor on there was like a whole era of the Rogan podcast that was about the importance of sleep and how to do this, that and the other thing. And I think a lot of people were trying some weird methodologies.
B
It's also not the first time I've done this. Like, I. I've said on the show before, when I was, like, pretty obsessed with, like, getting perfect pitch, which is being able to hear a musical note and.
D
That's right.
A
Yeah.
B
I would play middle C, like a tone. Middle C All through the night.
A
That's insane. Yeah, it was. It's insane.
B
I can't do it anymore with my wife.
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah.
B
I don't want perfect pitch, but I. I did it and I was able to internalize the sound. So it does work because there's something happening in that sleep state or before, after.
A
But this is the part of the conversation we had with James. I wonder if you. If you heard this or not, Ed. But he. In. In the way that he puts it is that moment in between sleep and waking is when you're passing through the veil. And we use that terminology pretty loosely on this show and just in these conversations. But this veil, meaning the, the thing that separates us from the. The spiritual realm or being able to perceive it, and I guess then the implications of that are once you go through that in your dreams, you are more or less in the spiritual realm. But. But that. That state of passing through it is fascinating because like Matt was saying a moment ago, you're getting all your ideas during it. And maybe as. As you're saying it, Ed, it's like maybe instead of just this one way exchange where you're receiving things or things are happening to you, you can go through that veil armed. This idea of capturing your thoughts in Jesus Christ. Right. To. To. To. What is it to keep each thought captive in Christ.
C
Every thought captive.
A
Yeah. So what a thing to do then, as you're passing through the veil is to. To captivate or to. To capture your thoughts in Christ as you're moving through it.
B
And I don't want to ruin your. Not ruin. I don't want to, like, somebody else steal your idea. But, like, how exactly are you. Because tones and frequencies can definitely help, like, massage you into passing through the veil, which is kind of what we're. What you want to do, like this strengthening as you go into sleep or come out of it. But how. How are you going to locate the correct tones? Because there are some, like I said, that will have you up tweaking. Yeah. And it's weird because, like, you don't even know.
A
Or the brown note. Have you ever heard of that?
B
Well,
C
that's the one you said. I don't know if that was real.
A
You don't want that note before you go to bed. Wait, so there.
D
It's known that there's, like, certain to. Or things that will.
A
That will keep you up, certainly.
B
Well, I don't know.
C
Yes.
B
I don't know if these are. I. I'm just me, so I know when I played it my Me and my wife were like, that sucked. And we did it for a couple of days and we were like, that sucked. Then we turned that one off.
A
Like, not good sleep.
B
And also not even able to particularly understand why, like, you get up the next day and you're like. Happened to me. I feel tired.
D
Yeah. There's like something that happens on Fortnite. Like I thought I'd just come.
A
Sorry.
D
Until like right before bed. But if you play Fortnite, even till like 2pm I'll. Still can't sleep. Dude. There's just too much.
A
I think that's because you're active. You know, you're like.
B
You've just been bling yourself with blue light that it's free, a lot of colors and sound.
A
Remember the conversation with Vicky Joy Anderson about binaural beatdowning yourself effectively? So let's say hypothetically, and this might be a big monkey wrench in the situation, but if there are these entities that are utilizing frequency to put you in a state of paralysis and fear and all these different things, which I'm very sure. Right. Ed. That certain frequencies can induce a state of fear. I. I almost think that's for certain. You know, I imagine the military's got a lock on that. Well, yeah, I meantly do that.
B
The roar of a lion, it's. It's set at such a frequency that it paralyzes you.
A
Right.
B
So are you. How are you going to find these? Are the tones going to be paired with like scripture or what.
A
What exactly are you doing?
C
Yeah.
A
All right.
C
So. So a lot of stuff, A lot of stuff there. So one. Yes. There are so many different frequencies out there and some of them are meant to energize. And so you shouldn't sleep with, with those, like especially the higher ones. But then there are some that are like, been very well studied scientifically that, that are intended to put you in a, a state where that, that, that's not harmful. For example, you know, you have the, the states of, of alpha, beta, delta, and so forth and so on. So right now we are all in a beta state of, of thinking. Beta is when you're in your conscious mind. Alpha is a state when you're, when you're meditating. That's. And meditate. I don't mean the transcendental type of meditation. I mean the, the meditating where you're just rolling something around in your mind and you are focused on it. So alpha state is focused. And then you have. The ones that I'm going to use are theta, theta, Excuse me, Theta. Theta is, that is the wave you're in when you're in what's called flow. Like when someone like, you know, when a basketball player is in that zone where he just can't miss a shot or when a pitcher is pitching a no hitter, they're in a theta state. That's that state where you are toggling between your conscious and your unconscious. So that's what flow is. That's what John talks about all the time. So that, and then delta is the deep sleep, is a deep sleep tone. So, so the ones I'll be using are theta and delta theta to help you, help you, your conscious and your unconscious balance so that you are not being influenced unduly. So that there is enough of your conscious brain there to reject the, you know, any evil thoughts that are coming in. And then later on towards the very end of, of what's going on, there will be me, not me, there'll be the voice. I have a very soothing voice that we'll be talking about, you know, your authority in Christ helping you understand that. There will be Bible verses there where we're going to be talking about that. So you're going to be going to sleep with the right with the Bible verses and with some of the lessons that are encouraging for as you fall asleep and you'll be in that theta state. Then at the very end, like the last 15 minutes, there'll be a delta tone and that will help you get into a deep sleep. And that deep sleep is a sleep where you're not dreaming. It's the recovering sleep. So, so I, I did that intentionally so that I don't want people going into it like dreaming bad things if they can help it.
D
So how long does the recording go then? Like, so like when it starts all the way till you get to that last tone you were talking about.
C
So initially I'm going to. The ones I'm gonna put on on YouTube are just, are going to be like about an hour and a half. Wow. The reason is that that first hour and fifteen minutes is I want you to get to the point where you are sleeping and you, you get into sleep with it. But, but you're, you're still hearing that from your unconscious. Your unconscious is still getting those positive, that positive spiritual warfare information. And then the last 15 minutes go into a deep sleep. Well, that's, that's the restorative sleep that I think we all need to just help us be better. And I think you're, I think you should, people should aim for like 20 of their sleep to be deep sleep where it's, you're just like dead sleep. Your, your body's recovering and I want to get people into that at the end. Now if you, the, the download that I'm creating, that's going to be eight hours worth. And that eight hours is going to be if you need it for the, for the whole night. And some people are dealing with, with things like night terrors.
A
Yeah.
C
And sleep paralysis. And there's, there's that, that 3am thing. I don't know if you've ever experienced that, but a lot of times people wake up at 3am and that's considered, I know we're getting to some woo woo stuff, but that's because 3am is considered a time when, when that veil is even, is even thinner. And I've had that happen to me. I'll wake up at 3:00am like, why is it 3:00am all the time? Then there's, there's no. Scientists will tell you that that's the time when, at 3am is when, is when your liver is like, you know, emptying and things like that. So that's why you may get up if you had a bad meal. But I think there's more to it than, I think there are spiritual aspects to it.
A
Oh yeah.
C
God designed us to sleep for a reason and I think that reason is obviously to recover. But also I think there's spiritual things happening there. And, and what do you think about
A
the idea that, that, that 3:00am thing is not inherently evil? I mean, if the, if the veil is getting thinner, could it be potentially a great time? This is something else that James brought up for prayer to the Lord, communication with the Lord at that time.
B
And this is what Ed is doing. I think Ed, though, you need to rename it from Binaural Beats. Don't use that because that has a bad. When you said it, I, I reacted.
A
Right. But they don't make beats. They don't make frequencies. Right.
B
That made a face.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
Okay.
B
No, because, well, binaural beasts are. It's, it's perverted and used for bad. It's used for CE5 to call aliens and do this.
A
Right.
C
You know what, that's a good point.
B
It's a fundamental building block of how this world is made. So it's not, it's taken and subverted for evil. Yes, but it's probably meant for good.
A
It's like the same thing. Like the pentagram is not inherently evil. They did not create the pentagram. The Idea that it's the. What is it? The golden ratio is inside the pentagram. The pentagram is, is actually like PI or something. Like it's this whole incredible thing, mathematics. They didn't create that. They didn't create that. They only co opted this frequency based thing that interacts with the mind. They didn't create that, they only co opt it and invert it. So if you use these same things but you're aiming them spiritually towards God, I think that's entirely a different thing. It's the same thing where like if you're having night terrors from midnight to 3am and that all feels demonic and you think therefore God made three hours in the day that are demonic. Like no, no, he didn't do that. If it's when the veil is thinnest, then maybe what we should be doing is waking up and spending some time with the Lord or something like that. You know, be geared towards God. Take every. Yeah, exactly. Take every thought captive in Christ maybe particularly at 3am well he'll.
D
The other thing is that he will specifically wake you up sometimes. Like the Lord will specifically wake you up. Like Samuel, there's biblical context for that where he's calling to him while he's sleeping and stuff. But some people know that experience too where he's waking you up and is expecting to communicate at that time. And if you try to go back to bed, it doesn't work.
C
Those are great points. First of all. Yeah, thank you for bringing that up top. And Raven, I will name it something else because you're right, it does have the taint of, of like a woohoo on it. Same thing with like as above, so below. When you hear that you think, oh Alistair Crowley, you. No, that's a spiritual law, that you speak things into one realm, say manifest in the other. That's a law of God. But it's been. But that nomenclature has been corrupted. Yes, and as you said, co opted. So yeah, I'll find a way. I don't want to trigger anyone that way.
A
Well, it's like if you were to say as above so below or as on earth as it is in heaven. Yeah, you know, exactly. It's the same, it's the same thing. They do not create these ideas and principles, they're only twisting things. But that are what God has created.
B
But you'd be smart to understand the level of propaganda that has been layered over these things. So when, when approaching them like an important subject like this, especially if you're doing something that's Worthwhile. It sucks if somebody sees it on its face and immediately discards it.
C
Yeah.
B
You know, because of.
C
I could totally see that. Yeah. You know, it's a demon now. He's, he's, he's gone over to the new age because of that. I, I totally get it. And, and Matt, to your point, 3am you're right, I've had, there's been many times where I've been woken up at 3am sometimes for the, for the worse, where, you know, I am being bombarded with bad things. But sometimes it's. God will say this is. He'll wake me up with an idea or something like that. And, and, and so, yeah, I think the veil is thin, period. And so what happens when that veil is thin? What comes through, that's, that's where it's going to be. Go, go, you know, well, or bad. But the veil being thin at that time is not inherently a bad thing. It could be a good thing. And so I'm going to do a series of, of these products of these, I've called them products of these videos. And one of the, I think the first one I'm going to do is just basically, though, if you're under spiritual attack before bed, this is what, you know, you listen to. Then I'm going to do another one about, you know, specifically for, for the 3am stuff because I've been seeing that a lot over the years. I want to do something specifically for that. And then the mornings we haven't talked about that in detail. That's another thing that, because you're, you're going the opposite. You go from conscious to unconscious when you go to sleep. Then on the other hand, when you're waking up, you, you know, when you wake up, you're in that. I used to say, like, you know, you're insane when you first wake up, but you're not insane per se. It's just like you were in this odd state. I can, when I first wake up, I can smell things that, when I'm fully awake, like, what was I smelling? I think it's because you are in that state where you are experiencing everything through your unconscious brain, which is again, 99. It's 90 of your brain. It's nine times more powerful than your conscious brain. So you're going to experience things that you, when you first wake up that you don't experience later on. There are going to be things when you first wake up that makes sense to you. Then. Then later on in the day you're like, what was I thinking it's because you're in that state. But as with, as when you're falling asleep, that's the time when the enemy is going to start telling you you suck. You are worthless. You're going to have a bad day today. You have all these things happening, you've got all these problems coming that you need to deal with and you're going to start your day in, in a bad state. But instead you start. I want you to start your day in the authority of God. I have to, I pray Spiritual warfare. As soon as I wake up, I start binding in the name of Jesus everything coming against me and my family and my household for this day because that's when they start at you. And so, but if you can wake up when you first are in that stage, just, you know, start with this video or it doesn't, you know, it sounds basically has to be video because it's on YouTube. But when, if you download the, the audio, just know that you're. We're going, I'm going to be talking to you about the authority you have. You're going to take control this day. You are, they are not more powerful than you. If you are a Christian, you are more powerful than Satan himself because you have the spirit of God in you. Take that authority, walk in that authority, walk over and pray that authority immediately over yourself, over your life. And because what you speak and what you agree with in, in those early morning hours is going to shape the rest of your day. And if you keep doing this for maybe 30, 90 days in a row, I think it's have a fantastic effect on your life.
B
It's a funny thing that you're saying this too, because just today and this whole week, from about Tuesday, I was do. I've been doing an experiment where when I wake up, because my business is digital, all my businesses are the first thing I do. The emails, the text messages, what's happened? And then you end, you end up on Twitter and you go f this guy real quick.
D
That sounds like torture.
A
Yeah, dude.
B
I mean it is torture. So for from Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, today's Friday, I didn't look at my phone earlier, like when I woke up for about an hour and a half.
D
You've been a little not so not not so nasty.
C
He almost said nice, but he just
A
said, well, not so nice.
D
It's hard to even get it out because I'm like, Mr.
A
Nasty.
D
Yeah. Wait, you have been a little bit nicer lately. Is that why? Yeah, you can't wake up and go Straight to the tweeter, bro. And like all the digital stuff, Twitter, it's.
B
Yeah, but it's like, well, that's part of the job.
D
Or even emails and text. Not right the second you wake up, it's not.
B
Well, I'm up before my kids, so that's when I can do it.
A
I do like this idea, though, of like, oh, go ahead. I'm sorry.
B
Yeah, that's just when I can do it. But it's not a good time. So for three, like three or four
D
days, you went straight in the scripture right when you got up this week?
B
No, I got up. I did push ups. I did whatever. I did other stuff. You look good and. Stop it. See this guy? This guy's such a winner.
A
Very complimentary.
B
I was. I was a lot more productive this week and I was able to have a clear mind today. You heard me talking to my wife before.
D
Yeah.
B
And I'm like, yeah, today's been a funky day. Because I woke up and I was like, I have a lot of. To do. Well. And I'm just like knocking stuff out and. And it's like this thing from the morning poisoned my brain.
A
Yeah.
D
In the morning.
B
And it's been bad.
D
There's a thing Bell and I were talking about because I'm trying to, like, help her with life because I'm realizing she's got all the same, like, she's got life issues or whatever that I have, though, like, with the way our brains operate. And there is this thing where, like, you get up and you think you have to solve all the world's problems in the next five minutes.
C
You know what I'm talking about?
D
Is that what you're saying? Like, you wake up and you think, like, there's like that five minute thing where you're like, I gotta get all this stuff resolved. Like.
A
Right.
D
Like your brain starts to do that.
B
Envy David in a way. Because there are. Well, I mean, let's just say I'm not. I'm not playing shout out to Doc Brown. Doc Brown messaged us yesterday. Both of us. Yeah, I answered him because I let it sit there for a while. David doesn't care for me. That sits on my brain and. But I also don't have the mental capacity or the faculties to answer somebody in a meaningful way. So I won't do it for a while. I don't know if this makes any sense, but it weighs on me.
C
Yeah.
B
So. Yeah.
D
So when unread emails, unread texts, like, that's fine. That weighs on me too. I gotta get to them. Especially if you come from, like, the background I came from at work is like every email is like scratching lottery tickets. Like it could. That could be a purchase order or something.
B
Awesome.
D
Yeah. So it's just like, I also feel
B
like it's my job too. Like for, you know, this. We're, we're podcasters or whatever you want to call us, but when we get messages on Twitter or wherever, I feel like it's my job to at the very least read each of these. And sometimes I'll just give like a thumbs up and sometimes I'll answer if I have the capacity, but it's a lot.
D
But not first thing in the morning, dude, that's just too much on your spirit, bro.
A
It is.
B
It's a lot.
A
I think the priority should be. And I like what Ed's talking about. This, this is going into this much larger theme of once again, like, taking all these thoughts captive in Jesus Christ.
B
Right?
A
So if that's the first thing you're doing as soon as you go to sleep and the first. Or, I'm sorry, the last thing when you go to sleep and the first thing you're doing in the morning, that's torture. No, no, no, I'm not, I'm not Twitter. That's a nightmare.
B
You guys see what I'm doing, though? Like, the last thing I go to, this is just my life. This is how I work. Because I'm grinding, I'm trying to make. Make something, but the last thing I'm doing, it's not about the money, it's about building the thing.
A
Yeah.
B
So the last thing I'm doing all the time, I'm like, hey, check this out. Just did something. And then I'm up and I'm. And I'm building more. And it'll, It'll. It'll make you crazy. And I'm like, all right, then I've got to step away from it a little bit because it's just, it's a never ending day.
D
But when your life's that busy, that's why you have to read scripture right when you wake up. Because otherwise the day is just going to get away from you. There's no way you're going to do it.
B
Well, you got to make that habit.
C
Yeah. Let's talk just for a moment about the difference between, you know, your responsibilities, that, that, that you maybe want to start thinking about immediately because you have so much to do today versus a spiritual attack. And there can be a little bit of crossover between them because as you said top. You got a lot of stuff to do. Same thing you know, with me. When I wake up in the morning, I. I start thinking, okay, here's the things I need to accomplish today. And I, oh, crap, I got to do this, that, and the other. And so if you're. You could get in a bad mood over it. But the difference when it's a spiritual attack is the methodology. And what. And if you feel in fear, waking up when something is telling you not just you got to do A, B, and C, but you're going, but the fear attached to it that if you don't do this.
A
Yeah. The anxiety.
C
Anxiety. Thank you.
D
Yeah.
C
Anxiety is huge. Because that's not normal. It is normal to think I got a lot to do today, and it's going to be a burden. It's going to be a chore, because sometimes we have days like that. And so, yeah, we should definitely start with scripture and with spending our time with the Lord and. And then we can start thinking about how our day is going to be a crap. A crap show because. Because of what it is. But when it's specifically fear, anxiety, when you can feel it in your heart, that tightening. And I know I'm talking to people right now who are. Who know exactly what I'm saying, they can relate to it. That's from the enemy, and that's what you need to cast out immediately. And that's what, you know, that's how I want people to start their mornings. And that's why I'm doing this, to get rid of that and then get in, then get into contact with the Lord and. And do your prayers and get ready. And then, you know, conscious mind is up and at it, and you then get ready for your day. We all have stuff we have to do during the day, but that should be the process.
A
How about the idea, Ed, of like, taking those fears and anxieties and giving them up to God? Right. So I found in my own personal life very recently, because everybody, you know, I know I say this ad nauseam, but I'm very new in my walk. And there's still things that are like revelations to me that for some people are like, you know, if you've been in. In scripture your whole life, you go like, yeah, dude, that's in the Bible. But as I come to realize it and implement it in my life, it's. It's very meaningful. And I, you know, we all have our own anxieties, and. And recently I was kind of wrestling with something and. And I came Deliberately to God in a number of days. Which also was something I wasn't too sure about. Because it's like, if you lay something at God's feet once, do you do it again another day? Or is that a lack of faith that he didn't hear you the first time? Is it vain repetition? If I'm saying, you know, there's like a lot of kind of questioning there. And I'm talking to God about that too. I'm saying these things out loud. But like, I noticed after a couple of days of bringing that to God, I stopped feeling that tightness in my chest. And it's like, what should I have done then? Probably done that sooner. Probably not suffered those things. In fact, probably gave it up in the morning when I woke up and I felt those things. Because that is true before you go to sleep. And when you wake up in the morning, you do have a tendency to run through the Rolodex of all of the things that happen during the day or happen during the week. They all come upon you just as you go to sleep, and they're all right there in your face as soon as you wake up. If that really did alleviate me and if that really did bring me.
D
Because.
A
Right. God gives us a spirit of peace and of sound mind. And that's 100% what you need when you're experiencing this anxiety. I should have just done it faster. So to have done it right in the morning, like, to spend some time and maybe. Maybe not even overcomplicating it either. Right. It's like just talking to God and having that relationship. That's one of the things that you've taught me to a great deal on this show is like, God wants a relationship with you, so have a relationship with him. Talk to him like he's your father. And so it doesn't have to be. And maybe I'm wrong or maybe I'm kind of right, but it doesn't have to be this big complicated thing. It's just like bringing these things to your father and, and unloading them and then saying like, I. I kind of put it on him. I was like, God, you're. You're supposed to give me a spirit of peace and of sound mind. And. And so I don't want this thing and I can't fix this thing on my own, so I'm giving this to you. But to have just done that sooner would have been to be alleviated sooner. And so maybe as soon as you wake up is the move.
C
Yeah. So a few things there are some great points. So one is, before I answer, before I answer that, I want to just circle back to one more thing about how to know that it's a spiritual attack versus just, hey, you know, I just got a crap ton to do today and it's weighing on me. And that is knowing your triggers. This is one thing, one of the things we teach in the class, because, and we've talked about it on this show before, is that the enemy is always going to come at you at the same way. Because your enemy knows what triggers you. They know what's going to get you to fall. And so if you are being attacked in the morning, within those triggers, those areas where you know you are always vulnerable, that's another way to know that it's a spiritual attack. And it's not just you, you know, knowing that you're going to have a lot to do today and there's a lot of things weighing on you and blah, blah, blah. So to your other point, Raven, about, you know, when you bring something to the Lord and say, lord, I prayed over this, I laid it at your feet. And then you come back and, and is that a lack of faith? That's a good point because I struggle with that myself. Because, you know, you ask for something and it doesn't happen quickly. It's a week, a month, a year passes and you're like, if I keep asking for this, am I showing a lack of faith? Is that why it's taking so long? The answer to that is you can bring it up again, but bring it up in this way. Thank him for it. Say, God, I thank you that you are going to, let's say for, you know, one of the things I'm praying for right now is I want to make faith by reason my full time job. I want to spend the rest of my life just doing this. And I've asked God for that. I know he wants it for me. It's not, it is happening, but it's not complete. So what do I do? Do I keep asking for it and I say, God, I thank you that you gave me this vision and I thank you that you are fulfilling it. And I thank you that you are growing me and getting me to the point where this thing is going to be beyond what I could imagine you're going to do exceedingly, abundantly. Above all that I can ask or think what I'm asking you for, you're going to go beyond that. And I thank you for being the great, the great God who goes beyond me. So that's what you do.
B
You.
C
You mention it again, but from a standpoint of gratitude, because again, as you said, Raven, you talk to God like your father. If your kid comes to you and he says, you know, Dad, I want to. I'm thinking about my kids, you know, Dad, I. I want. I want to. Not to play. What's the switch? The Nintendo. The new Nintendo Switch to you. Switch to. Which I already got them for their birthdays. Yeah, yeah, I got. Yeah, April was their birthday. They're both born in April. So obviously we know. My wife knows our fertility period is.
A
Birthdays in one month is always a nightmare, but.
C
Yeah, well, you know, it was great when you were younger, I could combine the birthdays, and now they want their separate birthdays. But in any case, when they came to me and I said, what do you want for your. For your birthday? We want to switch to. And if they came to me every day, I want to switch to. I want to switch up. I want to switch to. I get pissed off. But if they say, you know, dad, thanks for, for. I know I'm getting that on my birthday, and I just want to say, thanks, God, for. Thanks. Thanks, dad, for getting me that. And if they said to me, if they said every day, dad, thanks for giving me that switch, that. That's coming up on my birthday, I'd have a completely different disposition towards them than if they said, dad can have a switch. Dad can have a switch. Dad can have a switch. So I think it's the same way with God.
A
I. I think I would kind of laugh. Like, if my son was doing that, I'd be like, all right, he's thanking
B
me preemptively for something. I'd be like, I like your style, bro.
A
A switch was something we used to pull off of a bush in the back, dude.
C
Yes. And my grandmother would beat the crap out of me with it. Yeah.
A
You know, I. I think there's also something to like, you know, I'm not this hyper intellectual Christian by any stretch of the imagination.
B
Stop nodding, man.
A
Yeah, I don't like the way Matt's nodding, but, I mean, I guess he's not wrong. And, and, you know, like, my ability to recite scripture, highly limited, my reading pace, very slow, all sorts of faults that I have. But I. I do think I've gotten to this place where I've. I'm kind of understanding. Could be wrong kind of understanding that even if you're bringing something to God and you're flawed in your approach, you know, let's say whether or not you are having faith. And whether or not you should be grateful for the thing that's coming, it is faith. To bring it to God at all. To, to, to talk to God about anything and ask him to alleviate anything is faith in God. Especially if you're doing it first. Before you exalt all the, Or, I'm sorry, before you exhaust. Thank you. All the things that the world could do to alleviate this issue, to bring it straight to the Lord, even if it's in this flawed and clunky way, is faith. And I think he, he might be pumped about that.
C
Okay, I want to bring up something that actually last Sunday, because with our spiritual warfare course, we do our two hour private coaching on, on the fourth Sunday of the month. So that was last Sunday that we were, John and I were with our students and we were talking about it, and one of the students came with a question and they were talking about, you know, what about when I get mad at God and what about when I just don't feel like he's doing right by me? But, but I, but I don't want to say that to him because I don't want to dishonor him. I want to just say, oh God, you're the greatest, I love you, blah, blah, blah. But I don't want to say about, talk about the things that I work. I feel he's letting me down. We're like, no, you, absolutely. First of all, God can take it. It's not like he's some, you know, some, some shrinking, violent violet. Not violent violet. He, he wants that. And if you look at some of the psalms, some of the Psalms of David, because he wrote some of them when he was running from Saul, you know, when, when, when he was, he hadn't become king yet and you know, Saul was still giving him grief, they would, he would say like, oh, God, why are you so far from me? You know, I, I reach for you in the day and I don't. And I don't hear from you. I, I'm obviously paraphrasing terribly. You know, I try to get to you at night and I don't hear from you and you're not here for me. And I want. He's basically complaining to God about his situation. But all of those psalms end with him saying, but, you know, you're still God, I still praise you, so forth and so on. So it is perfectly okay to complain to God, to tell him anything, not just the reverential stuff that we do in church and with the other church Actually, it reminds me, Tom, I was listening to an episode you guys did maybe a week or so ago where you were going in after the Orthodox people again, which is. I love it, man. I love that you are just giving these people the grief that they deserve because you are not a Christian because you belong to an organization. You are a Christian because you accepted Jesus in your life. And don't feel bad about if you do it all. You probably don't. But if you. If you keep getting after these guys and they still complain about in the chat. So what? Keep complaining. You are wrong. You are not a Christian because you go to a building, just like you're not a car if you sit in the garage. You are a Christian because you accepted Jesus, period. It is not about rituals of the church fathers. Okay, enough with that rant. But my point is, when you. You. When you talk to God that way, he. He loves that. Because what you're doing, you're telling him, I believe in you. Because you're not complaining to someone who you don't believe is. Is who you believe isn't really there. And God already knows that you're mad at him. He already knows that you're blaming him. You're not hiding these things from him. It would actually be more of an insult if you were blamed. And we've. I've gone through it. I. One of the things I say most often to God is, I hate the way you do things. I know the way you do things are right and perfect and the best way, but I hate the process. And God's like, I know you hate the process. I'm not hiding this from him. It's not like if I don't say it, he's gonna not mean it.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
So it's like when Adam and Eve were hiding in the garden and he's asking, of course he knows where they are. Of course he knows what's on your heart. Yeah. Nobody knows your heart but God.
B
It's kind.
A
Of course God knows.
C
So going through all these rituals. Going through all these rituals and, you know, lighting candles and rubbing rosary beads and all that kind of stuff, God, I don't believe God respects that at all. He's like, you're being fake. You don't want to rub this beat. You don't want to light a candle. You want to do just be who you are because you're not fooling me. And by you trying to fool me, you're telling me I don't exist because you're telling me that I. I'm not omnipresent that I'm not understanding you. You're basically trying to fool me. And if you think you can fool me, then you don't really think I'm real. And if you don't think I'm real, then why should I bother with you? But if you're gonna be real, be real because God already knows it. That's what a relationship is, is you are sharing fully with someone. And that's what God wants.
B
Yesterday, yesterday we had, we're doing a Hebrews study with our friend Otis Fowler. And he's like, Matt, could you, could you just open up? Otis, Otis goes to a church, I guess, like a non denominational and he's kind of like in the church and he's doing stuff. Matt obviously is not. And during the prayer when you said, if we're praying and you said, God man, thank you for bringing some real ones here and you know my white hot hatred of the church. We said white hot, white hot hatred.
D
I never ever hate the church.
B
I love the 501.
A
The 501 C3 systems, right?
D
Yeah, yeah.
B
And he said it and I, I started laughing during the prayer.
D
But it's, it's kind of rude.
B
It's very rude.
A
You know what?
B
Because it's true.
D
Imagine if you're talking to a person to Ed's point. Imagine if I'm talking and say, hey, Top, can I get this? Hold on, let me rub this charm. Let me rub this rosary bead and let me rub the next one.
A
It's.
D
You would be like, you'd be like, bro, are you manipulating me right now? Like, what are you doing? You're like rubbing this charm to try to ask me for stuff. Yeah, yeah. You're like saying chance. You're like saying these prayers over and over in like a chance repetition. I feel like you're kind of like trying to manipulate me into something. Why don't you just talk to me like a real person?
B
Not just that, like, like in Matt's heart. He's like, you know, I hate this thing and I'm just gonna say. And Otis, I, I looked at Otis as he said it and Otis was kind of like, damn, like white hot.
D
Like I don't even remember praying. Just don't ask me to pray unless you like want to hear it.
B
Because I wanted to hear it.
A
I kind of muddle through that too though. Like when I'm talking to God, I will say a thing and I'll almost kind of trail off and then it'll follow it up with like. But you already know this.
D
Well, yeah, but I don't want to sound like a hypocrite if I'm. To God. If I'm praying.
C
Oh, no, we weren't in the room.
B
You were talking right to God.
D
Oh, yeah, I know you have. What do you mean? Like, you got to remind me of that. Like.
A
Well, that is what I appreciate about you is, is I. I used to bust your chops when you would, you know, like, here's the thing around him in the. When he would pray. But he prays just like, he talks.
B
It's the honesty of somebody. Somebody that goes to the church and, and likes it. Like. And you know what? He's. I think Otis does a good job with like the kids and what he's doing in the church and all that. The honesty of like, well, I'm talking to God. You asked me to talk to God. Maybe it's autism, not honesty on your part. And you just go, hate that. Hate it so much. Here's like a very good descriptive verb.
A
How much I hate it.
B
White hot hat.
A
Come on, somebody.
C
But you're being. You're being real. Hey, you guys, remember you passed away recent. Fairly recently. The dmx, the rapper.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
You know how he would talk. He was. He's not like a pit bull. But I don't know if you, if you guys ever heard him pray because he would go on YouTube sometimes and he would. Because he was a Christian.
B
I mean, like every three songs on his albums. This is how you know that I was like, in Coney island was a prayer. Yeah, like a seven minute prayer.
A
Yeah.
C
But DMX would pray like he rapped. I mean, he was, he was, he was right. I mean, because I listened to his prayer. Like, dude, you are praying exactly how you rap. And that hard, that hardcore, that harsh, that pit bull growl.
D
Yeah.
C
And God's like, yes, that's what I want. That is you. You are talking to me like who you are. And I. And so. Yeah, and that's what he wants. He wants that rawness deal, man.
A
That's a. That's a big deal. That's. That's something that maybe we should start reviewing DMX prayers.
D
That would be dope.
C
That would be dope.
D
That would be cool.
A
You know, that is the thing, though. It's like, why would you ever switch over? And you hear some people sometimes and I don't know, only God knows their heart. But like, you hear some people pray and it's a very performative way, or they pray in a Way that they put on the pastor voice, let's say.
D
Well, it's like religious spirits, dude, you call them whatever you want, but there's religious spirits running the 501C3 system today. And that's what's creating that voice and that vibe and that talk.
A
Like, don't you think God's like, dude, I know you don't sound like that.
D
Yeah, that's not from the natural realm. There's something influencing that from the unseen realm that's creating that, like, modern church culture in that way of speaking and that way of praying. Yeah. And it's like, if you can't order a steak like that, don't talk to God.
A
Like, you try to unpack that. That thing. Like, okay, yeah, there's a spirit behind it. But, like, what is your. What are you trying to accomplish when you do that? When you put a voice on, when you pretend.
B
How should we.
C
I think it's a go to.
D
It's just. That's all they know.
C
I think it's clear. It's close to what Jesus was saying about the Pharisees. When. I think it's in the Gospel of John, when he talks about them, when he calls them whitewashed tombs filled with dead men's bones. He said that when you pray, he was doing. This is why Jesus was such a badass, because he would say this stuff while the Pharisees were standing there. He's saying, don't be like the Pharisees who tried to. I'm going to paraphrase. Who are all about appearances. They. When they fast, they walk through the street saying, oh, my stomach.
D
Oh.
C
To make people think, oh, what a great. What a great person you are for fasting. No, you fast privately because it's between you and God. You don't. You don't have to wear the finest things. Because, you know, I grew up in a church where, you know, you had to dress up every Sunday. Nothing wrong with dressing up. But God doesn't. God doesn't give you extra brownie points if you come to church in a suit versus jeans and a T shirt. But the Pharisees were all about appearances. They were all about vain repetition. They were all about trying to sound that way. So, Matt, I think with these pastors, and I agree with you, it makes me, physically speaking, sick. That's why I can't watch Christian television anymore because he's got. They use this voice, this. It's this whispering voice where, oh, Lord, you're just so wonderful. I'm like, you don't Talk like that. Talk like a man. Clutch him and talk like a. Like a real man. Don't give me this mealy mouth, soft, partially whispering religious voice. When you pray God, you're not fooling
A
God, and you're gonna put the tremble in their voice.
B
There was like a. Is like a live version of this song that I like. It's called Raise a Hallelujah. It's an old song, and in the beginning of this live version, this guy's given a testimony of a young kid who was airlifted to the hospital. He's in the stands.
D
Wow.
B
And they thought he was gonna die. And he had, like. There's like a miracle happened. The. The entire church is praying for this kid. A miracle happened. The kid's alive in the stands. And that's like the. The. That's how that song was written. And I was like, what an amazing. What an amazing.
A
Because it was a real moment.
B
A real moment.
A
And.
B
And as he's giving the story of this kid's testimony, he's doing it in that voice. And I was like, dog, everything else is so real about this. Even the song itself is like, why Goosebumps?
D
Because telling you that's religious spirits. That's not like a.
B
How can those two things exist, though, together? Like, so on. On one hand, the song is written, and it's in. Written in a way where you can look at it and go, oh, man, it's written about this kid. And he's like, this song came on my heart as we're all praying for this. And the melody came to my mind, and I wrote this same dude. But then you're telling everyone about it on stage with your acoustic guitar in that voice, like, from.
D
Well, you'd hear about that with dudes like William Branham back in the day and stuff. You'd hear that they would operate under two different spirits that, like, they would operate under the power of the Holy Spirit sometimes, and they'd operate under another spirit.
B
Because that song. I mean, when you start the song, when. When he starts singing it, it's like a roaring lion.
C
The way he.
B
His phrasing is, the way his voice projects when he's talking to me and telling me about how the song was written, I was like, this person goes to an LGBTQ church.
A
You know what I mean? How can these two things comes from something real? Like, probably the first time anybody did that, they were on the verge of tears, actually moved by the Holy Spirit. Somebody heard that and was like, that's powerful. Then somebody emulated it and Same guy. So I'm saying like that kind of like, let's say, for example, the trembling.
B
Yeah.
A
You know where they go like, in the mighty name of Jesus. Like somebody probably did that for real the first time. Something pretty close to it, because they were moved to almost tears while they were talking. And then somebody else was like, that was powerful. And then emulated it. And then it just turned into a thing. Like it probably is rooted in something real, but then gets twisted and bastardized.
C
I would want to give this person the benefit of the doubt and say that there may be two minds happening here. He has a genuine experience, but he's also been raised in a churchy environment where he thinks I have this real experiment experience. But. But I've got to churchify it now so that it pleases God. So maybe his heart is in the right place. But he believes. And I don't. I don't know this. I'm just.
D
But it's all he knows.
C
But it's all I know. So I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt of saying that maybe there aren't necessarily two. Maybe there are two spirits he's dealing with, with the churchy spirit and the genuine spirit. And maybe he doesn't know that there's a difference. But hopefully the Holy Spirit can work on him to where he can see that difference. But. But understanding that the Holy Spirit is. Is working through the Holy Spirit is speaking to everyone all the time. You have to be able to listen to it and to. To the Spirit and then execute it. So it could be a point where even one of these preachers who. One of these 501C3 preachers. And by the way, I've got to say that faith, I reason, is a 501C3, but I'm not. I'm not one of those. I'm a 501C3.
D
Not because of like tax shelter or tax credit. It's not even about that. It's just we used to call it the denominational church. And then people were like, well, I'm not denomination. It's like 501 C3 system just means like announcements, songs, and a guy gives a speech like that.
C
Yeah, I'm being facetious, man. I know what you mean. I know what you meant by that.
D
Well, no, because sometimes people are like, you're against 501c3. I'm like, no, actually I'm not. I think it's probably. That's great if somebody has that. But it's just like that system. I Don't know what else to call.
B
Welcome to Faith by Reason, where you
C
get to go and get a blessing every day. And when you wake up in the morning, be a hot apple pie in front of your door from Jesus Church.
A
Say, faith by reason.
C
All right, I'm sorry.
A
Okay.
C
But just to wrap it up, I think that you can have a person who even some of these preachers who we believe are fake and may be fake once in a while, the Holy Spirit could speak through them to some person, and they'll just get, like, a sentence or a word that the Spirit speaks to someone in the audience that they needed to hear. At that point, you can be a Joel Osteoporosis Epistein's church, who, to me, is, like, the biggest. We're not the biggest. He. I think he's pretty fraudulent, but he could actually say something that you'll get sued. Yeah, that's what I'm gonna say. I believe it is my personal opinion, allegedly, that. That. That, you know, he's not. I wouldn't. I would not use him as my model, but he could say something that could actually inspire someone, and that could be a word that God. That God needed to say to this person. So. Yeah, that's all I have to say on that.
B
Yeah, no, that's what we've been dealing with and. All right, go ahead and say. I knew.
A
No, I was just gonna say, you know, that our church is very similar. I. I mock it relentlessly. But then the sermon will come about, and it'll be directly related to exactly what I was going through, and not in some way where you can speak to something in such a general way that it applies to a lot of people.
B
Yes. So friends. Get so friend's been here before. He's cool. I forgot your real name, but very cool, dude.
A
Yes. Get. So friend has actually been here in the building.
B
Yeah.
C
Thank you. I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you so much for saying that.
D
But that's totally a thing where, like, you're listening to a preacher. It's really connecting.
A
But sometimes it can be done in such a general way that it applies to, like, everybody's life. And then other times, it's honed in in a very specific topic, in a very specific message, and it's uncanny. And then it keeps hitting too, like they're talking for whatever length of time this sermon is, and it's like a layer of specificity followed by another layer. Do you wear another layer?
B
Do you wear Hawaiian shirts?
D
Yeah. Yeah.
A
He's like, maybe you're somebody who's vaguely homosexual looking and wears Hawaiian apps a day. He's like, Ms. Cleo, this guy's talking to me. So, you know. Yeah, it happens. It is true.
C
Well, that's what the fortune teller, like, you know, remember back in the day, Ms. Cleo would do. It's like, you know, call him in now. I feel like there's someone out there that's. I. I think you're calling me on the phone, aren't you? I knew it.
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah, but that happens in church, man. The guy stands up, he says he's a prophet, and he goes, the Lord is saying, somebody here has a headache. You know, stand up. It's like, dude, somebody. Yeah, somebody here has lower back.
A
Yeah, we're all getting sprayed by the same chemtrails. Like, we all.
C
There's someone who had an argument with their. With their spouse this morning.
A
Yeah, I agree, though. Even Joel Olsteen, Kenneth Copeland, they're still gonna say something because God uses all things, right? I know there's scripture that says, like, all things work to the glory of God or something that effect. And it's like, as my old mentor
C
Chuck Missile would say, if God could speak through. Through Balaam's donkey, he can speak to anyone, you know.
D
Yeah, that's a tough one because there is old video of him where he was like, not a madman. Like, he was like.
C
Is that when his head was normal size? Because it's gigantic. Yeah.
D
And his eyes, like, he just looked like a normal person. And that was a dude who was like, in the word of God for a long time. So he probably.
C
I think the money and fame corruption is not that. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with. With money or. Or anything inherently wrong with being popular. But if you. If you make that your altar. I'm going back to what James, I still want to finish reading, listening to that episode. He's talking about altars.
B
You can make.
C
You can make yourself an altar. And if you get all this, I mean, how do you think that Satan, Lucifer, he fell because he pride. He was. He was a worship leader in heaven. And he started saying, hey, I need some of this worship should go to me. He made himself an altar, an altar of himself, and that's how he felt. And if you start out as you're, you know, you're a good preacher, a good man or woman of God, and you start getting all these accolades if you don't reflect them back to God and you start taking it into yourself and you start accepting worship, you're gonna Fall.
D
And it's probably. It's probably even, like, ties into this whole thing of lay not up treasures on earth, but do lay up treasures in heaven. I don't think there's anything wrong with a dude, like, getting money and having money on the earth, but it's like.
A
Yeah.
D
It's this mindset of, like, you lose the otherworldliness and it just becomes about this world. You know what I mean? It's like, if you do a good job and you live in America, you might end up with some money. You probably will, you know, but, like, it does that become your whole life. And yeah, to your point, Ed, if, like, the dude Kenneth Copeland is, like, just sold out for. Just strictly for the money. Because I remember rappers talking about that. They were like, you could make a good living and stay real. Like, you don't have to sell out. Yeah. To be, like, the filthy rotten rich. Like, same thing goes for preachers. There's actually a lot of similarities.
B
It's not just.
A
I mean, when you finish preachers and rappers.
D
Yeah.
A
Like that.
B
When you finish our second, they all, like.
C
They like jewelry. All of them.
A
That's true. Yeah.
D
No, I'm just saying about how, like, keeping it real, like, that was always the thing when I remember listening to rap. It was like the sellouts and then the real ones. Yeah. It didn't have anything to do with, like, forsaking money. It was just like, you don't have to sell out for the money.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Apostle says every spirit that confessed that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God. Every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. Yeah, that's. Yeah.
B
So toward the end of our episode, I think one of the. Is probably one of the most fascinating conversations we've had is we were talking a little bit about that with James, and I was saying that, you know, we're grinding.
C
I'm.
B
I'm working hard so that way I could secure a future for my kids for later and, like, build up all this stuff. But we got into the conversation of not just general. The opposite of generational iniquity. I feel like this kind of. This episode is a little bit about that. The opposite of these things.
C
We.
B
We're dealing with binaural beats. Well, what's the opposite of that?
A
Yeah.
B
You know what I mean? Like, is there a heavenly realm to that? Generational iniquity? There's an opposite to that, and the opposite to that is generational blessings.
A
Right.
B
Like, when.
C
Yes.
B
You've got, like, six generations and. And you've had. You had this as well. Like the reason Matt's here is because his grandfather was a Christian, had a Bible, left it to him. Is that the same one that you. It can't be the same one that you always bring in, right?
A
It's.
B
Yeah, but like that Bible.
D
But I got it, it's on my, it's on my desk in the morning. Because it's a chain reference Bible. So like, so I reference it a lot. When I'm like reading a passage, I'll go to it, check it real, see what other stuff it references.
B
So that's like a physical reference from the generational blessing of your grandfather. And we were talking with James a little bit about like, yeah, man, it's cool to have money to leave behind for your kids or a house or whatever it is. But it's like, how do we leave
D
like when you're spiritual inheritance.
B
Yeah, the tree that you've planted and leave any money?
D
There was no money and nobody even knew about this Bibles and stuff. And I got his old Bibles with notes in them and stuff. It was like, I don't know if it was five or 10 years after he passed. There was nobody else even asked for it. Nobody else even looked for it. I don't even know how I got it. I don't remember how. I think my mom was just like, hey, do you want this stuff? And I was like, yeah, whatever. I'll thumb through it.
C
You know, there's, there's one important, there's one thing that happens, happened a lot in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, in Genesis that I'm still working on so that you're, you're so your audience right now. You're getting some of the primordial thoughts of this, but it's something that I want to make a part of, maybe another class or course or something else. I do. And that is the blessing from the father that is given to the child. It's not just because Abraham did it. Isaac, he blessed Jacob because Esau got cheated out of his blessing. And then Jacob prayed his blessing over all of his 12 sons who became the, you know, the tribes of Israel. It's not just that they prayed a blessing over their child. I do that all the time. You know, I pray for my, my kids to have, you know, to grow up well and to be with Christ and all this kind of stuff and you know, to be successful. But it's not just that they prayed those prayers, but they came true exactly the way the father prayed them. Like for example, when Isaac prayed the blessing over Jacob, and Jacob, you know, left with him, then Esau came in and said, where's my blessing? Well, you would think that Isaac would say, well, I'll just. I'll just pray the same blessing over you. No, what Isaac said was, I can't give you that same blessing because I gave it to Jacob and it's going to happen. Meaning I can't. I have to pray something different. And so he prayed a blessing over Esau, but he prayed something different because whatever that. The. The. The spiritual quantity of that was, it went to Jacob. So it was. It wasn't a physical thing, but it was. It was. It was a container of a blessing. And Jacob had it, and he could not. And it couldn't go to anyone. Anyone else.
B
So I wanna.
C
I wanna do that for my kids. I want my dad, who, you know, my dad's getting up there. I want him to pray that, a blessing over me. But I need to know the mechanics of that, because God honors that blessing precisely, which means it must come from God, because God doesn't have. Because God's not obligated to honor anything that he doesn't initiate. So it must come from God. And so God must have given that blessing prayer to Isaac and to Abraham and to Jacob to pray over them. And I want to know the mechanism behind that, because I want to do it for my kids. I want to get it from God and give it to them. And I want my dad to do that, you know, over me and over his grandson. So that's something I'm working on.
B
We got to hook you up with James, because that's another thing that we talked about, is like, how do I do that?
D
Yeah.
A
And.
C
Okay, cool. Okay.
B
The question. The answer to that that was given by James, which I think is satisfactory, was like, God likes it when you proposition him. So be like, I'm doing this to you. I'm doing this for you. All this stuff, I'm giving it to you now, I'm gonna cash in. And this is what I want. And I don't want a Ferrari. But I was like, I've been using it. Like, this is a good idea. Yeah, it's a great idea. Be like, hey, I'm doing this for you. This is what I can do. What I want in return is my kids.
D
Yeah.
B
When I'm gone, for them to be able to continue in this. This lineage that we're carving out so far. My parents are Christian parents. My grandparents before that were, I don't know Much about the rest of my history. I am. My kids will be also. So that blessing, that's what I want.
A
Yeah. And I'm not something that was like,
B
I'm not just asking, but it's like, this is the deal. Shake, shake on it. Or like, what are we doing here?
A
The idea of having your son not marry a witch, too is a big one. That's a good. And I prayed that one. So.
B
So that's a serious one. It's just.
D
So.
B
I need a new camera. Can I get a new camera? Thanks, dude.
A
That's okay.
B
No, I want something that is going to last.
A
Yes.
B
And I mean it. And I'm asking for. As a matter of fact, it's almost not like I'm asking. It's like, I'm going to do this thing. This is what I want in return.
A
But I know what you're supposed to do.
B
And it's easy to. It's easy for him to do, so. Really easy. Just say, yeah. And it's like, well, then. Then, yes. For me, also, we're talking about the
A
binaural beats thing, right? The binaural beats. And like, the opposite side of that, you just nailed it. So there are these things that are principles in the occult, and there are these things that are principles. Just like all these pagans are making these deals with. With these spirits. Like, this is the nature of the spiritual realm. God is calling. He's calling you. So, like, yeah, let's make a deal. You're gonna serve. You're gonna do my will, right? You're gonna glorify me.
B
This is why Jews are so Jewy. Because
A
are we Jews?
C
Well, we should start trying to be. We should be a little more Jewy.
A
Yeah, well, that was because cop was expressing like it's his hesitance to engage with God in that way. Because, you know, I might be paraphrasing, but it's like, who am I to proposition God and say, give me something? You know? But it's like over and over again, storing up.
B
I've been doing all these things, and I want to do them for you. And then I James, like, hey, it's okay. It's okay to be like, all right, you've done these things for God. Ask him for something back. And I'm just like, I don't like asking for stuff.
A
Yeah, well.
C
But you know what, guys? I. I gotta tell you, this is how awesome God is. This morning, you know, I wake up and I'm going through my day doing my thing. I do my prayers and Everything. And then I'm like, I'm gonna be on NDS what I want to talk about spiritual warfare wise. And I'm saying, you know, my thing is I, I wasn't sure and I was going back and forth and then as I get on my phone, which, you know, I'm guilty of doing as well, and I see the episode with James and I said, you know, as I'm. Let me start listening to it. And it turns out I need to finish listening to it because it sounds like this guy was talking about. I think God is going to be. Continue to speak to me specifically about what I was asking him through. Through what James was saying. And I think I've got through like maybe a half an hour of it or no more, but I want to listen to the rest of it because it appears from what you just said, top, that he is already answering my prayer. Through what? Through. Through the conduit of James. So I want to finish listening to it because, you know, he. I didn't even know about the, that he addressed the generational prayer. I haven't got to that part in, in the.
A
Yeah, that was, I think that was later in the, in the episode.
B
Yeah, because like, we, we did speak about it and I was like, no, no, you're gonna tell me exactly how you do that. Because it's fun to talk about these ideas in abstract, but it's like, great, great, great. But, but if I want that thing, like I actually want that. So now.
C
Yes, explain it.
A
Well, that's another.
B
Did a good job.
C
We were talking before the show about what I want and what. And this might be exactly what I needed to hear. Helped me get to the next step. So. Wow, that's awesome.
A
We're also talking about layers of interacting with God. You know, like, is it a vain repetition thing? Do you talk to God differently? Why would you talk to God differently? God knows your heart and knows how you speak. Don't get up there and start making prayers in a, in a warbly voice, because that's silly. God already knows. But like additional layers of interacting with God and, and I think that shows faith, right? Why would you ever try to cut out a covenant with the Lord? Why would you ever try to cut out a. A transactional deal? Lord, I serve you. I do your will. My household serves you in exchange. You know, how do I get these blessings that Abraham got? Shows faith. Why would you ever open your mouth and ask those things to a God that you don't believe in? And so it's like, even if it's, even if for some reason it wasn't, which I think there's a ton of biblical precedent for, that is the case. It is an additional layer of faith. You're not talking to God in a warbly voice so that you appear a certain way in front of other people. You're talking to God candidly, and you're, you're, you're now going and propositioning the Lord, which is like, yeah, that's, that's faith. Is that. I mean, to me that sounds like it. I could be wrong, but it isn't.
C
Here's the thing. I, I actually want to talk about like a half an hour ago, I just got to left because we got on other subjects. But that was a difference between prayer and talking to God. They're not the same thing. And I, I grew up thinking that they were, and I had to become educated that they're not talking to God is, is again talking to your father. You're having a conversation. You're intimately sharing with him. You're, you're, you're listening and you're hearing back. Prayer is transactional. When you look at any place in the Bible where someone was specifically saying they were praying, not talking to God, not having a conversation, but when they were praying. There was a system that I want John to speak to this when we do the show next week, because he, he helped me with this. And it's actually in his book Modeling God, which, which you get as part of the spiritual warfare course. But prayer is basically petitioning God to act based on justice. God works through justice. You know, when we get to Genesis chapter two, where, you know, seventh day, God rested again, it wasn't because he was tired. It wasn't that what it means, what the actual words means that God ceased his activity after the seventh day. Now specifically, he sees the activity of being the first cause God. After Genesis chapter 2, God no longer unilaterally initiates his will. From Genesis 2 to the rest of the Bible, all God does is react to what we do, to what the Elohim do, but he reacts through justice. He equals out justice, but he does not initiate his will. So prayer is when you say God, I have a certain amount, it's a transaction. I have a certain amount of justice that I, I've accrued because of X, Y and Z that I've done. And based on that, I'm acting. I'm asking you to take this action based on the, based on justice. That's what it is. You are making a request and When Jesus talks about when you make your request, first of all, you enter with Thanksgiving. That builds your faith. God, thank you for doing X, Y and Z. Here's why I'm asking from you. Because of your justice, because of who you are. And I'm asking you to equal out justice in a certain way. So you're asking for it based on. On what he's done, on what. Who he is, and based on justice that you have on your side.
B
I suppose then that would mean what you've done, what I am transacting with what I've done has to be equal to what I'm trying to buy or trying to purchase.
C
And God will make sure God's not going to give you. God's not unjust. So even if, let's say you asked for a Ferrari, but you only have enough, enough justice for Alexis, you're going to get Alexis because. Because the other way. Because if God gave you the Ferrari and you hadn't earned it then, now you got to pay for it. So now he's got it. Now you either have to do more good or something bad has to happen, and you have to handle that bad thing well in order to have earned the justice.
B
So this is an interesting con, Matt. What do you think about that concept?
D
Well, if you're saying you have to give something to God, like, in, like, on the same level of what he's given you. I don't know, dude. I just think about, like, you know, David says, I'm gonna build you a temple. And then Nathan. Nathan tells him, yeah, do what? Do whatever's in your heart. And then God tells Nathan, I didn't say that. Nathan go back and correct him. And then Nathan comes back and tells David, no, man, you're not going to build the temple for God. He's actually going to build a house for you. And then that provokes this whole thing where David's like, God, who. Who am I? Like, who even am I? And what is my family that you would even, like, look at me to do anything like this? Like, so I don't. I don't know. I think. I look at my life and I'm like, I can't. I never gave God anything comparable to what he's like, gave to me. And I look at my life and say, why would you take me out of the street? Or, like, make me somehow a reasonable person that hasn't turned into a vegetable after that much drugs and that much chaos and madness of life and make me somehow some benefit to mankind in some way? Or whatever. And then God tells David, like, yeah, I'm gonna give it to your kids too, like to your point, and give it to the next generation. Then Solomon comes along, prays for wisdom to rule God's people, and then God says, yeah, dude, because you asked that, I'm gonna give you all this other stuff. But I like your heart. I like, I like, I like what you're saying. Like Adam and Eve went to eat from the tree so that they could have this knowledge to operate without me. You're specifically asking for a hearing heart because you want to know stuff and you want to be wise too, but you want to do it through me. I like that you didn't ask to like, kill your enemies. You didn't ask for money.
B
That's what I'm saying. Like, I, I feel, I'm not saying that you don't have enough money for, for a Ferrari. What I'm saying is that the conversion doesn't even make sense.
D
Right.
B
Like your faith, the substance of your faith has brought you children that love God, a good family, and then, and that something that you can pass on. And that's a continual process. You can buy that.
D
I don't know, I don't know. See, I don't know about that because
C
I was like, consider a couple other things you were just talking about some of the things that were passed on to you from your grandfather. How do you know that you aren't getting some of his justice? Sure, you just might be. And, and with Solomon, God told David, I'm going to bless Solomon because of you. He said, because of, because of, of what you've done. I'm going to do this for your children. So it could be that David had so much, so much value accrued that by the time he died, there was still, there was extra. Keep in mind, Jesus prayed for us in Gethsemane. He said, specifically, I pray for. He was praying for his disciples and he prayed for them. And then he said, but I also, I'm also going to pray for everyone. You're going to, that everyone's going to come to me. I pray for them as well. So Jesus is also praying for you. And Jesus has a pretty good chunk of value we were talking about. Yeah, so, so you could be getting some of the value that Jesus has accrued, which is you could, I wouldn't say infinite, because I don't want to get, because I don't think infinity doesn't really exist per se. But you, Jesus has a lot of value stored up that you could be getting some of. But again, God is also. Because he is just and right. So that's the justice part, is that God could give you everything based on what Jesus did. That's the justice. But God is also righteous. He's not going to do anything wrong. So he's not going to give you something that's going to corrupt, that's going to make you worse if he can help it. Now you can still make yourself worse, but God's not going to intentionally do it. For example, everybody wants to be rich and there's nothing wrong with having money. We talked about this. Abraham was rich, Job was rich. A lot of people in the Bible who were wealthy and were in good standing with God. But there are some people who couldn't handle wealth. If they got too wealthy, they would fall away. And I know, for example, when I was in my 20s, I was trying to start a business and I wanted to be wealthy and I didn't get it. And I was frustrated with God. Looking back, if I had been rich in my 20s, I, I'd be, I'd be a complete. Excuse my language. I'd be a show because I was not ready for it. I wasn't mature enough. I. My life would be a disaster if God answered my prayer to make me wealthy when I was in my 20s. And it would have been wrong for him to do that. So my point is that yes, it's all there. No wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous. But God cares more about your eternal spirit and your soul than he does about you being able to have a Ferrari and take a trip to Europe. Yeah, if you are going to. If God keeping you in the poor house is going to get you to eternal riches in heaven versus God letting you have all the stuff you want and you end up in hell. Or no, you're not going to hell because you're a Christian, but you end up, you know, losing out on spiritual rewards. And God said, you know what? I'd rather you be poor and be wealthy in heaven than vice versa.
A
I was talking about this recently. I think for a lot of people, I think myself included, having, let's say, started from a point of success and just continued onward would have been a curse. Because I think that it's only in my, my poverty and my struggles and my inability to get things going by myself, for myself that it became obvious to me whenever I did start to have success, it's because I started to orient towards God and therefore I can't. I have no business getting anywhere from this point forward, without pointing to God and be like, this isn't. This isn't me. Like, glory to God, right? Like, there's this idea that it is the. The glory of God to restore you. And I think that part of that or to redeem you. And I think part of that is because, you know, for people like, let's say me, I couldn't do it on my own. So if I am redeemed, if I am restored, if I am allowed to have success, the only way that I found success is through servitude to God. So the only thing that I can point to as for the reason for any kind of success or any kind of goodness in my life is God. And so in that way, it is literally the glory of God to have redeemed me or to have restored me or to have allowed me to overcome the struggles that I was facing previously in life, because it certainly wasn't me. And so I could see in a different light, if I was successful from the beginning, I might not have ever had that perspective. And so it would have been in that sense then, because what's really important at the end of the day is God. It would have been a curse.
C
There's something that Jesus said that a lot of these, you know, manifestation gurus who just think. Who kind of categorize Jesus is just another, you know, spiritual teacher on this, like Buddha and Gandhi and. And whoever else, they put him in this category. So they'd like to quote the Bible in order to, again, to. To justify themselves and their theories, but they always leave a part out in the quote they get from Jesus that anything you ask, they'll say is, Jesus said, you know, anything you ask, I will do. That's not what he said. He said. He said, anything you ask in my name, I will do. Because, you know, Jesus said, you have to ask, believing that you've already received it. And the manifestation people say, yeah, we don't. That's what Jesus said. You just have to believe that you've already gotten it, and that's how you do it. No, Jesus said, anything you ask in my name, I will do so that the Father will be glorified. You have to have those two caveats.
B
The will of the Father plus.
A
Right.
C
You have to. When you ask in Jesus's name. Yeah. You're asking for what Jesus would want for you.
B
I want to address this. Okay. I don't know. I don't know. Jay Devilla, in the chat, he called you a heretic, which is fun, but he Said salvation and God's blessings aren't transactional. It's one sided. Your part in salvation and blessings is nothing more than to receive, period. You bring nothing to the table and I am grateful.
C
Okay, well, all right.
B
I'm grateful that you're not orthodox because they believe the opposite. But Matt, maybe you could refresh us because we were reading some scriptures about the unpopular scriptures about God saying, if you do this, I will do that. Can you just recap some of that for me? Because that seems.
D
What does that have to do with J Dilla? Isn't James a rapper?
B
I don't know, it just seems. I'm just saying that's Jason Derulo. It seems like what God is doing here is a bit transactional. It's a blank check meaning way more.
D
But the only thing I was saying to you though was that I don't come to God and say like, my faith is, you know, you owe me this. Like when I pray a lot, I'm like, God, you don't owe me anything. Like, you already give me way more than you owe me. So I just never try to approach it like that. But yeah, I think obviously there's right. If the. You're right, like the way that you're living is going to make a difference. And, and even for the salvation thing, I don't, I don't know, I would guess to do. I don't know him, but I would guess maybe he's talking about from like a Calvinist background where he's.
B
Oh no, I think he's right about salvation given freely.
D
Well, yeah, but you're saved by grace through faith, otherwise everybody goes to heaven. Like you're. Yeah, so, so the transaction there, that. I hate to say it like that, but it's like you're saved by grace through faith. Like that's God's part, that's man's part.
B
The substance that is faith. That's what saves you.
D
Yeah. And you can't do that without God moving your heart. So in a certain sense it's like, yeah, only God does it. There's nothing you can do. Got it, got it. But you still have to be saved by grace through faith. When he extends his hand, you have to reach back, man.
C
Yeah, I don't know if he misunderstood me, but I, I did not reference salvation at all when I was talking about the prayer. I'm talking about when you were asking God for something. No, of course you can't earn your salvation. That's, that's ridiculous. Jesus, we, we can't the only way to earn your salvation is if you are perfect and never. And never sin. We can't do that. Jesus did that, and he gave that to us freely. I'm not saying that's. That's a completely different. That's a completely different context. So unfortunately, I think, you know, this person mis. Completely misconstrued what I was saying. I.
A
Sometimes stuff gets lost in translations, but
C
I was saying that's the difference between praying for something. Praying for a thing is you. Is that you. God does. God moves. He responds to us through justice, one way or the other. And justice is not just bad things. It's reward, too. Why do you think we get rewards when we get to heaven? Because we've. We've earned. We've earned rewards for what, what we've done. And God's given us categories for that. Most of what Jesus was talking about. Jesus basically had two messages when he was preaching salvation and reward. You know, in. In salvation was usually quantitative. I mean, excuse me, reward was quantitative. Some people got 10 or five or one. You know, you look at the, the parable of the guy with the. Of the people with the talents. You know, one had 10 and he doubled and he got. And he got 10 more. And he said, you'll be over 10 cities or something, and the other one got five cities. So those were quantitative. But salvation is binary. Either you're saved or you're not. So we're talking about different things. Because if there was. If, if you weren't rewarded for justice, if God didn't move on justice, and what's the point of doing good work, works.
A
That's interesting. You know, why did God tell us
C
to do good works if that, if they, if they are meaningless? God wants us to do these things for him, of course, but we have to also be on the right side of justice in order for. In order for God to move on our behalf.
A
What about the idea that. It seems to be a theme throughout Scripture that God uses man as almost a vessel. He will act through people. And in order to have God act through you, you have to serve. You have to be in the service of God, which I guess isn't always the case. Oftentimes God would use people that weren't necessarily in alignment with him to pull off wicked kings and such. But if you are in servitude to the Lord and asking to be a vessel of his will, does that have any value to God?
D
Yeah.
C
Yeah, of course. Yes. And he. And he can use you that way, and you can. And that's the way that you are are getting value. And if that wasn't the case, then Jesus would not have talked about reward so much in. In what he was saying.
A
That might seem like a stupid question. Can you scroll up a little bit? The reason that I asked that is
B
because I'd argue that that's the only.
A
That's the only currency. Yeah, yeah.
B
What else do you have? But, like, okay, yeah, that's my life.
A
So here's everything reiterated. He said, obedience is not something that we bring to God. In other words, it has no value to God. If you scroll up a little bit, he actually says something to that effect that could be misrepresented.
B
And I don't want to beat up on him. I find.
A
No, but these are interesting questions.
B
I find it fascinating. And I like.
A
Obedience isn't something you bring to God. It's something that emerges from faith, which itself is given by God as a matter of. So this gets into a weird thing because he's not Calvinist, but it does sound like predeterminism if you cannot make a decision to be obedient to God. Is. Is that what he's saying? I could be misunderstanding that. It's hard because. Yeah, texting, we're talking, you know.
D
No, that's. I think that's what he's saying. But, I mean, in the end, all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose, not to our purpose, not to, like, try to get what we want from them. But like, yeah, we got skin in the game now. Like, if you say a man has no skin in the game because he's not born again, and there. And there has to be some kind of tugging. No, like, nobody comes to God unless God draws him first. Amen. Okay, then at that point.
C
But God's drawing everyone. That's. That's the whole point.
D
Yeah.
C
There's no one on earth. God is not drawn to him.
B
This is why I feel comfortable like saying, I. I don't even know. I guess forceful or the forceful asking of my request there is like, okay, I've given me. And whatever I can do. And what I want is for you to take my kids. That's almost like a. What is it Sounds like that sounds
D
like the most loving thing that, like, God would love to hear. He'd say, wait, what do you want from me?
B
Yeah, that's like, you want me to
D
make sure your children walk with me forever. Yeah, I like that.
B
Because my will is now in accordance with yours. I'm not asking for a camera or. Or a car or whatever it is I am asking. Yeah, but those. Whatever that will come if it. If it may.
A
A car to drive me to where my camera is. That's right.
B
So I could run my kids over and send them to you quicker. No, but my will. My will and my very strong, clear will for the end, the reason I do anything is so that way my kids can go to you when I am gone. And that's also God's will. So this is in direct alignment. So when I'm asking this thing or praying this thing, I feel like I don't even know if this is an ask.
D
It's in Jesus name. That's what that is. It's according to his will. It's according to what he wants. It's.
B
Yeah, so then when you say in Jesus name, it pretty much means exactly what I just said, which is why I have a hard time even thinking,
D
like, is this, like, I'm with you? I'm. I'm here for your purposes. My life belongs to you. That's the same way I pray for, like, health is. I'm like, you're the landlord. Like. Like, I'm just the renter. Like, if something's sick here, that's on you, Lord, because, like, I'm only here for you. Like, you got to fix the building, because my whole life is just for you. So if the sickness, like, takes me out or whatever, that's. That's on you, Lord. I belong to you.
C
And I understand that. That the justice thing might be throwing some people, and I. I probably should have. This is a whole show. You should have done that. But you can.
B
Look, we've done. When I say 100 episodes with you, so, like, when you're telling us these things, I'm like, yeah, we. I get. Yeah, yeah, like the premise that you're coming from. But yeah, if someone's just tuning in
A
now, and we also have a lot of people that are new to this show because of the show's growth.
B
We almost got 30, 000 followers.
A
So there is this. This core Ed, who's been here since the jump, who. Who understands this conversation, and there's new people who show up and hear a couple of things because we're not perfect and our words suck sometimes, and therefore we're heretics. I get it.
B
Yeah.
C
It's a quick example of. Of how the value can work, even if you haven't. Haven't already have. If you don't already have it in the quote unquote. In the bank. Let's say, for example, when the disciples would heal someone, you know, when Peter, Peter saw the, the person who was, who was crippled at the, at the gates of Jerusalem. Interesting thing about this guy. You know what that means? He was, he's been at the gates of Jerusalem since he was a kid. That means Jesus walked right past him when he was into Jerusalem. It didn't heal it.
A
Yeah.
C
Why? Because Jesus wanted that glory to go to happen later. So his disciples did it when they healed him. The healing wasn't necessarily because the disciples had the value, but by healing him, more value would come later because this person was now was going to go say, was going to go run around telling people, look what was done for me in the name of Jesus. So now that value, God knew that that value would, would come later and, and it would justify that healing because what that healing did, it glorified God. So maybe Peter did not have the spiritual value to make it happen, but obviously he was told by God to heal this person and he did it. And that person told more people. And now you have hundreds of people coming to, to faith in Christ. So that's the value that, that was gained by that healing. So it's not necessarily a straight shot of I have enough value for Ferrari, therefore give me Ferrari. Maybe it's like, you know what I'm asking for with my ministry God, I, I need these certain things to happen in order for me to, to be successful. And maybe he's thinking, okay, well if he does this, then he's going to affect this many lives in the future and that's going to give the spiritual value needed. So it could be also in the
D
future not just like to see Jesus walk by that guy and hand him, you know, probably gave him some money or whatever, you know, he's begging, he wasn't going to heal him. Maybe he get handed him some money and winked at him every time he walks by.
B
Oh yeah, hang tight, Peter's got you. Don't run away.
D
Yeah, but God didn't.
C
Yeah, so God didn't tell him to heal that man.
D
Yeah.
C
And Jesus only did what the Father told him. Because God knew that once you die and rise again and your disciples are now doing your work, they're going to take care of this guy. So that's how, that's how God moves to that person. I don't mind you call me a heritage if you want, I don't care. But be careful because you're not hurting me. You're, you're hurting yourself. When you are judging someone without enough information. Yeah, you're actually rewarding me because what did Jesus say? Blessed are they when men should revalue and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Worship and be, you know, rejoice me exceedingly glad, because great is your. Great is your reward in heaven. So if someone calls me something that I'm not for doing the work of God, my reward in heaven just got greater. But it's going to be done at someone else's expense, so be careful how you.
A
How you.
B
There's a transactional nature to that, huh?
D
Well, I think. I think we clarified it, though. It actually was just a misquote. He was just came in from outside and said, here's a tick, Here's a tick. He was actually here a tick.
A
Oh, my God.
B
I do like this guy, though. I hope he comes back more.
D
He will, because this is.
B
It's just a cool conversation to have, like, and. And people exposed to this stuff.
A
Well, that's what I was going to say. Like, we set out to talk about something, and that's what happens every time on the show, especially when Ed's on, because we have such a working relationship and we've. We've, you know, done had so many conversations with you, Ed, that it's like these things get a little messy, and we're, like, wrestling with this and unpacking different aspects of scripture and asking questions, and it's all like, really on the fly. I mean, that's the nature of. Of the show is we never have anything scripted. Not that anybody does in podcast world, but, you know, so these things are coming at you.
D
Scripted.
A
What happened? Straight Bible is pretty script. Is it? Well, that's true. Yeah. I mean, you're just. That's how it makes me. I almost want to say Straight Bible's not a podcast.
D
Exactly.
A
It's not a podcast.
D
It's a Bible study.
A
It's a Bible study. I guess that's fair. But, yeah, so, I mean, we're just. We're asking questions and giving answers and, you know, on the fly. And I, you know, not everything is going to come out perfect all the time, but you've been instrumental in. In my understanding. It's actually gonna be really cool because at Bohemian Grove, I get to hang out with pretty much everybody who's helped in this. I don't like to give Matt too many.
B
Oh, James gonna be there?
A
No, James isn't.
B
I gotta.
A
I'm texting. I'm gonna see if he could be there. I mean, it's a.
B
It's.
A
It's short time to ask him, but it would be cool. But, you know, obviously Ed. Ed was the first guy that even though I'm completely. Had no problem sitting down with me and unpacking these things and then continuing to do it over and over again. I don't know how many times to talk to you. And then, you know, Matt's gonna be there and it's been a huge second stage. Don't look over and don't like internalize this too much. And I don't want too much of a reaction. So if you could mute it, it would be great. But the, this sort of the second stage in, in my walk and coming to understand God in scripture, Matt's been instrumental in. I feel like God is stopping. You don't have to do anything.
D
You know, you bring some of those donuts and make sure there's extra draglays.
A
But I think God has done this really remarkable thing with me where he knows I'm. And he knows the way I learn and, and he's put the right people in my life.
B
You should stop saying that you're. Because when we have people on like Jay Dyer, you say that to him and he's actually. And then they think that they can talk to you.
A
However, I will continue to humble myself so that the Lord can humble yourself.
B
People notice
A
also, Laura Baker is another huge one. You know, when she first got on and started talking about deliverance and. And the whole generational iniquity conversation really opened up in a really wide way when we started to talk to her. And I get to hang out with these people at Bohemian Grove and it's going to be a really remarkable time. So. Yeah, man, thank you, I guess, is what I mean to say.
C
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. It's gonna be fun.
A
Yeah. So do we have anywhere else to go? Because I don't want to bring it in for a landing if there's no reason to do that.
C
No, we can't. We. We can talk about this maybe the next. Next time I want to. Because we're just going to talk more about offensive spiritual warfare. And, you know, this is fine because I. I've got plenty to talk about because what I want to talk about next time is what the mechanics of offensive spiritual warfare is because it's. It's almost counterintuitive to what we think of when we're attacking back. Because when I talk about counter attacking, we think in human terms. Okay. I'M going to slap Satan upside the head and do all these things to him. Well, no, he's not physical. You know, none of these entities are physical and we're not. And they've already been judged. So what are we doing? We're pushing them out of our lives. And I would say one of our greatest weapons in offensive spiritual warfare, believe it or not, is forgiveness. And I want to talk about that next time, how that is offensive and how that devastates the enemy. There are two, I think two of the most devastating weapons we can use against the enemy are forgiveness and gratitude. And I want to talk about that maybe the next time we. We are. We are. Are doing a. A podcast as opposed to. We'll talk about other stuff from bro but when we're doing a public podcast, I want to talk about. About that because that's something I'm going to be talking about the next. The next month and a half. In, in the spiritual warfare course, are you.
B
Are you basically going through like, Matthew 6, like the sermon on the Mount kind of thing? Because a lot of this is what we've been covering. I mean, the whole Bible's saying this stuff.
A
Yeah.
B
But Jesus distills it in just those. Whatever. I mean, we're up to, I don't know, maybe 20, 30 scriptures from the end of Matthew 5 to like. Well, I mean, all of it. But, like, so far, what you're talking about, this idea, the idea of forgiveness, forgive those who.
D
That's why when we pull that passage, we pulled 50 other passages saying the same thing. Right?
C
That's right. Yeah. So I'm not going through it chronologically, but. But yeah, it's a huge part of it because John actually talked about if those who are on the course now, they then last this week's lesson that came out a couple days ago, John talks about forgiveness and reward. And I'm going to. In two weeks, I'm going to be doubling down and talking more about forgiveness as I'm going to be talking about the effect that forgiveness has on the spiritual realm. G. And because the hope and the reason it's dovetailing with what you're talking about is that Jesus did spiritual warfare perfectly. So we are teaching you how to do spiritual warfare the way Jesus did. So. So it's going to, of course, come back to the things he said, including forgiveness. But again, it seems counterintuitive. How am I attacking the enemy by being forgiving. So it's understanding what forgiveness actually is. It's not saying, okay, I'm not gonna. It's. What you did was okay. No, forgiveness basically means I'm giving you over to God. I'm not going to take retribution out on you. That's what forgiveness actually is. It's not about a feeling. You can still be as mad as you were before. But what you're saying is you're stating your will that you won't equal out justice. You will let God equal out justice. And when you do that, you're giving it over and you're. And you're moving on. You can still not like the person. I've forgiven people who I don't want to ever see again. But my forgiveness isn't me feeling better towards them or better about them. I still. Some of them are jackasses who are forgiven. But what I've said is that I am not going to take action against you. God can handle it, and I've given you over to him. That's what forgiveness is.
A
Yeah.
C
And I'm going to talk about the mechanics and how that defeats the enemy, specifically man.
B
In some ways, it would be better for. It would be better for, like, you to take action against me.
C
Yeah, exactly. Because God's gonna do it perfectly. I may give you. I may take action against you, and it's less than what you deserve. So you should want to have the person you've wronged get back at you, because God's gonna. God knows all the layers, and he's gonna get you back. His judgment is going to be completely, perfectly justified. And it may be worse than what you would get if, you know, if I just. If you stole money from me and I just smack you and I feel like I'm revenge on you, but you should get worse. Well, there we go.
A
Imagine.
B
Imagine the concept of, like, yeah, somebody wrongs you in such a way.
D
Yeah.
B
And you forgive them.
A
And then wasn't it Abraham with Sarah where he didn't want to say that he was married to her because he didn't want anything bad to happen to her, so he said he was her, his sister. And then when that king found out and he was like, dude, my men could have, you know, slept with this woman. And then the wrath of God would have been upon us. Like, what is. What are you doing, dog?
B
Well, I mean, there we went through a couple of scriptures where, like, justice is passed down and taken out on, like, their kids later on. And it's like, that is.
A
This is.
B
This is kind of the. Yeah, that's heavy. This is what we've been talking about. This is the Only prayer that most people, that anybody should have is like, my lineage continues in this walk. But imagine gets punished because of, because of someone else's forgiveness on you.
C
Well, one thing we're going to talk about. And when we get to the third quarter, when we get to generational curses, and I, I, I want to talk to Laura Baker about this. I want to get her thoughts. I think I'm on the right track with this, and I, I'd love to get her input. But anyway, that you can actually, you can break those curses, you know, because you have that authority. So we're going to get into how to break those. Even though there is a justification for them, but you have the mechanism to break them. Because 100.
A
Yeah.
C
The blood of Jesus is more powerful than what that person. And you can confess. There's a, there's a mechanism. You can confess the sins on the behalf of your, of the, of the ancestor who, who put them on you. Not because I'm getting into more heretic range here, but I'm not saying in the sense of like, you know, ancestor worship, that sort of thing, but you can, you're confessing your part in that and, and what you're doing to propagate that sin. You confessing that. That I passed. I am doing what my ancestor did, and I'm confessing that on their behalf because they didn't know. It's like when Jesus said, father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. So it's a whole thing. I'm getting ahead of myself.
D
Well, no, Daniel prays like that. When Daniel prays and says, God forgive us. And he's saying, he keeps saying, us, us, us. And it's clearly stuff Daniel didn't do, but he's like, taking recognition of it.
A
Right.
D
On behalf of the people.
A
Yeah.
C
And that's part of it. So we're getting. That's like, about what, maybe another four months down the road of the class when we get into generational curses. But that's just something that we'll, we'll talk about more when we get there.
A
All right, perfect. So I, I guess on the way out, let's remind everybody, Ed. Where everybody can find you. And also, you know, one of the places is going to be Bohemian Grove in eight days. Eight days.
C
Geez. Yeah. I gotta, I gotta start.
D
No, seven days. No, it's Friday right now.
A
It's the 31st.
D
Ed's coming to the VIP.
A
What's next? I don't know.
C
Well, I know I'm gonna.
D
Friday, it's seven Days from now is Friday.
B
All right.
A
You're right.
B
He's right. But VIP tickets aren't available.
C
Yeah, I was so. I was. I was so pissed. Guys, guys. Because when I was on a trip with my wife a couple days ago, I thought I lost my wallet. And I was like, crap, if I lost my wallet, I don't have my id. I won't be able to fly. I won't be able to get to Bro Grove.
D
Don't say.
A
Oh, my goodness. Oh, no.
C
But thankfully, it didn't happen. I. I just. I. I misplaced it, but I found it.
A
It.
C
But I was so. I'm like, I was thinking of all the ramifications, but I mean, I won't have an idea. I won't be able to get a picture ID by next week, and I won't be able to fly. And I'd be. Oh, man.
A
Dude, you want to talk about that? We talked in the beginning of the show. That tightness around your heart when you have anxiety, losing your wallet, does that think about all the things you got to replace?
C
Yeah. Yeah. So thankfully. So Anyway, I'm sorry, faithbyreason.net is. That is my website where you will find all the material that I've been putting out over the years. If you become a member, you get access to everything, including the 60 episode Revelation series, the genes, the ongoing Genesis series, all my blogs and podcasts. You can also join. You can also get access to the spiritual warfare course there and. Oh, something. I just. If you are in the warfare course, I need to send you guys an email because I. I finally got the message boards working showing what a. A Luddite I am. Technically. It's been. It's been a while to get that going. So you can go onto the message boards and there's a profile built there for everyone who's. Who's in the course. You can talk to each other and John and I will come in and answer your questions, but you can find the course there. And the other place you can find me is on my Patreon, which is faithbyreason. I'm sorry, which is patreon.com faithby Reason. All my new content drops there first. The Q and A's are there, which I try to. I'm trying to do weekly. It's just. It's been a lot of travel happening the last few weeks. But the Revelation series is ongoing there. The Genesis series is there. The Q and A's, the Bible study is. Is there, where you can become a part of our monthly Bible study where we go through the entire Bible in 12 months. And yeah, the books are there. And when the, the, the thing I'm doing with, with the. I don't want to call them the binaural beats, but the, the sleep, the sleep and waking meditations and ministry that I'm going to be doing, all those full episodes are going to be available for you as a Patreon. You won't have to pay anything extra to get like the eight hours of the whole, you know, sleeping in spiritual warfare or the waking. Those will be available for you as, as a Patreon. So you'll be able to download those. That's another benefit you get there. Once I have those done and my goal is to have it launched on the floor 14th of. Of August.
A
Okay.
C
Or at least the first, the first, the first one should be up by August 14th. And maybe I'll come and do a show that'll be after Bro Grove. So I'll try to do a show with you guys on that Friday and, and so people can get access to it and maybe and try it out that night.
A
That'll be fun. And we could recap all the madness that.
B
That was.
D
Bro Grove.
A
That'll be good.
B
Excellent. Excellent. Ed, thank you again. Thanks for coming on. Always fun conversation.
A
Yeah.
B
Matt, did you have fun?
D
Yeah. I love this. I love it. I can't wait to meet you in person, Ed.
A
Soon, dude. Very soon.
C
I, I expect a nice latte. You know, when I get.
A
Dude, they make a mean latte.
D
Got you.
A
I had one just yesterday and they're very good, so I'm looking forward to that.
C
I'm also lactose intolerant, so if you have oat milk, I would appreciate it.
D
We got it. We got it. Okay.
B
They got oat milk here. All right, guys, until next time, and we'll see you at Bro Girl. But until next time, don't forget to obey, submit and comply. Peace out.
Date: August 5, 2026
Hosts: David L Corbo & TopLobsta
Guest: Ed Mabrie (FaithByReason)
This episode dives deep into Christian spiritual warfare—particularly the role of sleep, dreams, and the vulnerable moments between waking and rest. Ed Mabrie, a recurring guest and leader behind the “Faith By Reason” project and spiritual warfare courses, returns for an honest, humorous, and research-driven conversation about protecting the mind and spirit during sleep, reclaiming corrupted spiritual tools, the importance of candid prayer, and the biblical mechanics of blessing and reward. There’s an emphasis on practical tools, generational blessings, and authentic relationship with God versus religious performance.
On the importance of the pre-sleep “veil” state:
“In that moment, those moments right before you fall asleep is when your conscious mind is tamping down. …It’s a great time to start putting in positive thoughts…Conversely, it’s also a good time for the enemy to attack.” (Ed, [05:45])
On the necessity for authentic prayer:
“But you already know this. …God can take it. …God already knows that you’re mad at him. …It would actually be more of an insult if you were faking it.” (Ed, [39:53–40:04])
On generational blessing:
“I wanna do that for my kids...I want my dad...to pray a blessing over me. But I need to know the mechanics of that, because God honors that blessing precisely…” (Ed, [58:52])
On the spiritual reward system:
“Salvation is binary. …Jesus basically had two messages…salvation and reward.” (Ed, [77:03])
On spiritual warfare during sleep:
