Pathos Communications Plc (LSE:NEWS) founder and CEO Omar Hamdi joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss a strong first half following the company's public listing, with double-digit growth in both revenue and EBITDA, rising cash receipts and continued AI investment. Hamdi attributed the performance to a large addressable market, expanding customer relationships and a growing range of services driving repeat business and larger engagements. He described it as "a very, very solid start to the year and start to life as a public company." The AI strategy centres on Pressella, the company's virtual publicist, which Hamdi sees delivering value in two ways: improving internal productivity and enabling generative engine optimisation, helping clients improve how they're represented by large language models like ChatGPT. Hamdi said the company is taking a measured approach, leveraging seven years of proprietary data to train the platform. "We're not in a rush. We've got to get this right," he said. Entering the second half with nearly $1 million in deferred income and around $6 million available, Pathos is actively evaluating both organic growth and acquisition opportunities. Quantum Blockchain Technologies PLC (AIM:QBT, FRA:BYA1) CEO Francesco Gardin joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss the company's ASIC UltraBoost technology, its expected US patent grant and the commercial opportunity ahead. Gardin said the patent process should conclude within four to six weeks of fees being paid, though the company remains cautious until the grant is officially issued. The technology targets the hardware implementation of Bitcoin's SHA-256 algorithm, an area where meaningful advances have been rare, and is estimated to reduce logic gates by 5%-8% while cutting energy consumption by 2%-5%. "According to our estimate, the saving is between 5 and 8% in terms of logic gates. In terms of energy, it's between 2 and 5%," Gardin said, adding that across large-scale mining operations the cumulative impact could be substantial. The company is already working with an ASIC manufacturer and is seeking specialist semiconductor expertise to structure licensing and royalty agreements. With the potential buyers clearly identified as ASIC chip makers, Gardin said the pathway to commercialisation is well defined. Watch the full interview to hear Francesco Gardin discuss the patent timeline, ASIC UltraBoost's potential efficiency improvements and Quantum Blockchain Technologies' commercial strategy. TMX VettaFi head of business development EMEA & Asia Axel Belorde joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss the technologies shaping the future of defence investing and what investors should be watching. Belorde highlighted autonomous systems, AI, battlefield management software and cybersecurity as the key themes driving defence sector evolution. He explained that autonomous technologies now extend well beyond drones to cover robotics, unmanned systems and AI-powered software that integrates multiple data sources for better operational decision-making, with lower-cost platforms delivering significant capability while reducing dependence on critical minerals and heavy manufacturing. On software, Belorde stressed its growing strategic importance. "More and more data is going to win wars. Well, guess what? If that data gets compromised, you're better off with no data than compromised data." He also highlighted the dual-use nature of many defence technologies, spanning logistics, predictive maintenance and public safety, which broadens the investment opportunity beyond traditional aerospace and defence manufacturers. For ETF investors, he suggested looking beyond established names towards data integration, cybersecurity and autonomous systems companies. Tooru PLC (AIM:TOO, FRA:73N) CEO Scott Livingston joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss strong commercial momentum across the OAF and Pulsin brands, driven by repeat purchasing and expanding retail distribution. Livingston said retailers are responding to strong sales data by adding the brands to their shelves, with new listings secured across territories including Benelux alongside existing partners such as Holland & Barrett and TK Maxx. The company's "everywhere always" distribution strategy aims to make products as widely accessible as possible. "We've got a product where people are buying, they're telling others and they're buying again. And that's the secret to building a brand," he said. He also noted that consumers are paying more attention to ingredient quality and provenance, creating an opportunity for Tooru's products to stand out beyond price and taste alone. Key milestones ahead include further listings with larger grocery retailers, additional OAF and Pulsin store rollouts and continued international expansion. Horizon Gold Ltd managing director Scott Williamson talked with Proactive about the definitive feasibility study for the company’s 100%-owned Gum Creek Gold Project in Western Australia and its planned transition from explorer to developer. The open-pit study outlines a financially robust development pathway targeting first production in the second half of 2028. Gum Creek is expected to produce an average of 98,000 ounces of gold per annum during the first five years, with total recovered production of 880,000 ounces across an initial 10-year mine life. Based on a gold price of A$5,500 per ounce, the project is forecast to generate A$1.85 billion in pre-tax free cash flow, a pre-tax net present value of A$1.31 billion and an internal rate of return of 53.1%. Pre-production capital is estimated at A$350 million, including mine development, a new processing plant, supporting infrastructure and contingency. The study estimates an all-in sustaining cost of A$2,995 per ounce and a payback period of 23 months from first production. Williamson also highlighted potential upside from a future mill expansion, underground resources and additional exploration results from areas including Kingfisher and Swan. Horizon Gold now plans to advance permitting, financing discussions, early works and long-lead development items as it moves Gum Creek closer to construction and production. Lightning Minerals managing director Troy Brice talked with Proactive about the completion of phase-two exploration at the company’s wholly owned Warby Tungsten Project in North Queensland. The recently completed field program collected around 90 samples from priority targets as Lightning Minerals works toward identifying potential sites for an initial drilling campaign. Brice said the program had been completed ahead of schedule and under budget, with the latest geological mapping and sampling continuing to strengthen the company’s understanding of the project. Assay results are expected around mid-August. Lightning Minerals will use those results to refine its geological model and determine where clusters of higher-grade tungsten mineralisation may be present. The company is also considering geophysical work to improve the accuracy of future drill targeting and ensure exploration capital is deployed carefully. Brice also discussed Warby’s location near the operating Mount Carbine tungsten mine and the strategic importance of establishing secure Australian supplies of tungsten. Depending on the results of the current program, initial drilling could take place late in the year or early the following year. Axel REE Ltd (ASX:AXL) managing director Dr Patience Mpofu joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss the company's Caladão rare earth project in Brazil and explain why its ionic clay deposit, suitable for in-situ recovery, could offer significant economic and environmental advantages over conventional mining. Mpofu outlined how the low-impact extraction process could reduce both capital and operating costs while shortening the path from exploration to production. She also explained why the absence of open-pit mining and tailings dams could make the project particularly attractive as demand for responsibly sourced critical minerals grows. The interview also covered encouraging metallurgical test results, with column leach tests recovering up to 560ppm total rare earth oxides, and the next steps as the company moves into field trials, advances drilling and works towards an indicated resource and a future scoping study. Mpofu also highlighted the project's exposure to high-value magnet rare earths, including terbium and dysprosium, as well as the presence of gallium, a strategically important semiconductor metal that is rarely found in ionic clay deposits.
