Being a disciple of Jesus is to always be prepared for a pop quiz. You never know when you're going to be asked to give an account of the things you know. There's no better conversation to have with others than that of Jesus Christ. Today Pastor Ben teaches us that it's so important that we read and understand the scriptures, so that we can be used by God in any given moment. The Bible is sharper than any two-edged sword, more powerful than anything that can be used against us, and it's the best way to show your love. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 7, as he begins his message “Are You Listening?”
You know fear is just the enemy running out of breath. It's what he uses to keep a little bit of control he has over us as Believers in Christ. It's our job to preach the gospel to those who need Jesus' love. It's our job to act as a mouthpiece bringing forth God's truth to others, and advancing His kingdom. Today Pastor Ben teaches us that fear can extinguish our witness. Giving into fear gives the enemy power. He will not stop trying to keep us from God and the glory that's no longer available to him. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 7, as he continues his message “Jesus, A Model Of Obedience.”
If your friends told you to jump off a cliff, would you? That's a line we've all heard from our parents at some time in our lives. We all know people who aren't always the best influence, or the greatest examples. Now see we're called to be in a community with people and it's important to surround ourselves with those who share our beliefs. But we aren't perfect and we aren't meant to be. Today Pastor Ben teaches us that Jesus is the perfect model for obedience, and that Jesus is the One that we should strive to be like. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 7, as he begins his message “Jesus, A Model Of Obedience.”
You know it's never too late to accept Christ as your lord and savior? It's never too late to make a change and walk in the way that God has for you. God is patient, and He'll never stop knocking at your door, waiting for your answer. The scriptures teach that God loves you entirely and that He longs for a relationship with you. Today Pastor Ben teaches you that as long as you're here on this earth your time is always now. No matter what mistakes you've made or will make in the future. God is ready and waiting. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 7, as he continues his message “It's Personal.”
When you make a mistake in disobeying God, however that may look. Do you accept full responsibility? Asking the Lord for His forgiveness? Or do you make excuses, accounting for everyone else's actions, and how they played into yours. Today Pastor Ben teaches you just how personal your relationship is with God. It's not a group project. Your walk with the Lord is intimate and personal to you in every way. Honor the Lord by living your life in full preparation for your personal encounter with Him. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 7, as he begins his message “It's Personal.”
What you just heard from Pastor Ben might sound limiting. It might sound narrow-minded. It might sound exclusive. Do you want to know why? Because it is. When Jesus said that He was the only way to the father, that's exactly what He meant. He was saying there is no other way. That is limited. That is narrow-minded, and that is exclusive. The sooner you can come to grips with that reality, the sooner you can begin your new life with God. Jesus truly is the only way to heaven. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 6, as he continues his message “Jesus Teaches The Multitudes.”
You know sometimes it's hard to be honest, right? Especially when it comes to admitting that you don't know something, or that you've been wrong in a situation. Pastor Ben's advice a moment ago is really solid. If you find yourself in a situation where you don't have all the facts, or you don't have all the details, that is the time to stop. Admit you need help, and then reach out and ask for help. Don't spin your wheels and pretend that you know what you're doing. Take the humble road and ask for help. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 6, as he continues his message “Jesus Teaches The Multitudes.”
There's a real ministry when it comes to our relationship with Jesus. The common phrase you've probably heard is “that people ask Jesus into their hearts.” What does this mean? It means that the person of Jesus takes up residence in your body. Which He calls His Temple, and you become one with Him. Sounds a lot like the language the Bible uses to describe the relationship between a husband and wife. The Bible calls Jesus “The bridegroom” and it calls us “The Bride.” This is a beautiful picture of our relationship with Him. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 6, as he continues his message “Jesus Teaches The Multitudes.”
“Thou’s, Shall’s, and Wither So Everests,” the church language we use can sometimes be a detriment to simple conversations about Jesus. I mean how many of your unsaved friends use the word “Fellowship” in their everyday language? Today Pastor Ben reminds you how important it is to drop the “Christianese,” and talk like a normal person about your friend Jesus. Talk about Jesus like you actually know Him. Not like He's some distant “Genie” who lives in a cloud in the sky. Here's Pastor Ben in the Book of John chapter 6, as he continues his message “Jesus Teaches The Multitudes.”
Wow, that was a powerful summary that we just heard from Pastor Ben. I think it's important that I repeat it. One of the main points of the entire Gospel of John is the substitutionary death of Jesus. What does that mean? Pastor Ben will share today that this means you and I, all of us, were destined to die for our sins. But God stepped in and sent His own son to die in your place, as The Substitute. It's the most beautiful sacrifice anyone has ever made. This is the core of this book we're studying together.
