Season 1
Betrayal is an eight-episode podcast hosted by Andrea Gunning. It's the story of Jenifer Faison, a woman who reconnected with her college sweetheart, Spencer Herron, later in life. Jen, a reality television producer, picked up and moved cross-country to her new husband’s small town in Acworth, Georgia to be with her first love. Spencer was a popular soccer coach and a two-time "Teacher of the Year" award winner at a local high school. After seven years of a wonderful marriage, she came home to find Spencer clutching a search warrant. He was soon taken by the police and prosecuted for a crime she never could have imagined. She hasn’t seen him since he was taken from their home in handcuffs on June 1, 2018.
After his arrest, Jenifer uncovered a double life her husband had been living the entire duration of their marriage. To heal, Jenifer decides to learn who she was married to from the people who knew the other side of Spencer. She talks with the victim of his crimes and the other women he preyed on in a series of stunningly candid and sensitive interviews. Through these exchanges, Jen can let go of the shame and emerge from the hold this chapter has had on life.

What began as a routine welfare check became a crime scene no one wanted to look too closely at. In October 2007, Memphis deputies entered an apartment after months of unpaid rent. Inside, they found blood, burned-down candles, air fresheners dripping from the walls, and a towel jammed beneath a bedroom door. A man was dead. Within days, arrests were made. The case was declared closed. But it wasn’t solved. For 18 years, unanswered questions were ignored, evidence was overlooked, and a story was quietly buried. Until now. In Everything They Missed, Stephanie Tinsley reopens one of the most poorly investigated murder cases she has ever encountered. Through exclusive interviews, newly uncovered messages, shocking audio, and an ending no one saw coming, this series exposes what happens when authorities choose silence over truth, and how one voice can reopen a case the system wanted forgotten. This isn’t just a murder investigation. It’s about the cost of looking the other way. And what happens when someone finally refuses to.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This season on Nobody Should Believe Me, we tell the story of Lisa McDaniel, who crafted a public image as the Director of Patient Advocacy at the Guthy Jackson Foundation while concealing her conviction for child abuse more than a decade ago. We begin with an introduction to the McDaniel family: Lisa, her husband Carey, and their children—Mishelle, Angellyn, and Collin. While the unraveling of their family began when Collin was “diagnosed” with NMO (Neuromyelitis Optica), to understand the full story, we must go back to where it all began: Hazlehurst, Georgia. Andrea and our producer, Myrriah, travel with Mishelle–Lisa’s courageous eldest daughter– to her mother’s hometown, where they sit down with Lisa’s younger sister, Sabrina. Sabrina recounts a childhood marked by emotional manipulation and physical abuse at the hands of her older sister. She walks us through Mishelle’s early years, how, as a baby, she was often left with relatives for days at a time, and then through Lisa’s troubled pregnancy with her second child, Angellyn. https://swap.fm/l/de0J8FjuVGz7S8UTOuWFSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
