Lesley Logan 0:08 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Brad Crowell 0:52 Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap. Brad here again today with a very special guest stepping in for Lesley, we have Clare Solly. Yeah, welcome back, Clare. Clare is one of Lesley's best friends who has been both a guest on the pod, and she's actually hosted some of these recaps in the past. So those of you who have been listening for a long time, you probably know Clare. She's an author. She's an actor. She is Lesley's slingshot friend that goes all the way back to Episode 19. She lives in New York City, and she actually also you've been doing a whole lot of traveling this past year if I recall.Clare Solly 1:24 So much travel. Yeah, so much travel. I was so inspired. I think I've been to six countries this year, and then. Brad Crowell 1:30 That's crazy. Clare Solly 1:31 I'm actually in Connecticut right now I'm talking to you. Brad Crowell 1:33 Okay, okay. I was wondering. I was like this doesn't feel like New York. Love it. Today we are going to dig into the validating convo that Lesley had with Traci Peterson in our last episode. If you have not yet listened to that, feel free, pause this, go back, take a listen. Traci is a rock star, and she's like a super cool mom, a very inflective inflection. She's looking back at her own life, analyzing it, and seeing how she can sow into her daughter differently, and I just thought that was epic. So yeah, that's worth a listen. Go back and listen to that, and then come back here to join us. But before we get into the convo with Traci, why don't you tell us about today? Clare Solly 2:11 Today is January 16th and it is Natural, Natural? Brad Crowell 2:17 Yeah. Clare Solly 2:18 Natural and National Religious Freedom Day. National Religious Freedom Day is observed to promote the message of peace and acceptance. The day is to highlight the fact that everyone has a right to their own religious beliefs, and people can go worship however and whenever they want. And I thought this was actually very timely, because Traci talks about one of the first things she says, like right off the bat, is that you can celebrate whatever deity that supports you (inaudible) subscribes you and that's the word. Brad Crowell 2:48 I think it's also important to remind ourselves that, while there are, it's probably safe to say the majority of the United States, they subscribe to Christianity in some form. I don't think that we remember that our country wasn't founded by. Clare Solly 3:07 It was not. Brad Crowell 3:08 By a bunch of Christians like the Pilgrims came over. They were definitely were trying to get away, and they were being persecuted, and they were Christian. The founding fathers, however, they had mix of religions, including Christianity, but also Quaker, Lutheran, Dutch Reformed and even Roman Catholic. And so when they were setting our country up, it was with this really important idea of religious freedom, and I think that's healthy for us to remind ourselves that different people believe different things, and that's okay. Clare Solly 3:39 Yeah. Well and you mentioned in New York City, there's 72 different nations represented in this city, in my city, and that's fascinating. I can walk two, three blocks. It's like I'm traveling in a different country, because there are different things going on. And speaking of travel, aren't you guys traveling soon? Brad Crowell 3:56 Yeah, that's right. We're actually going to be going to Cambodia here in just a few weeks, I'm so excited. I'm already getting everything ready. We've been making sure we've got the place situated. Our team is already prepping things. We're making sure that the grounds are good to go...

We just got back from Cambodia with Ainsley. Brad Crowell 1:42 We did. Lesley Logan 1:43 And we're gonna see her in March. And she said, so this, obviously, this win is from a bit ago, because it's before, before Cambodia. But she said currently boarded and sat on the plane for Cambodia, that's got to be a huge win. 10 beautiful days filled with adventure Pilates and Pilates people, oh, and so far, there's no one sat next to me. I'm excited for the adventures that lay ahead.Brad Crowell 2:07 Well, I could attest those were adventures.Lesley Logan 2:10 They were amazing adventures. Brad Crowell 2:12 It was incredible. Lesley Logan 2:12 And that was Ainsley's two years in a row. Brad Crowell 2:13 Yeah, second time joining us. Yeah. Lesley Logan 2:16 Fabulous. Like, it's amazing. It was amazing to watch Ainsley do it a year again, like, in a row. Brad Crowell 2:22 Yeah, your limit. Lesley Logan 2:22 And just see how much her life has changed because of what she implemented from the last retreat. And now I can't even wait to see, no, we'll just see her in March at another retreat, so, here at the house, so I can't wait to see what she's implemented by then.Brad Crowell 2:35 Yeah, it's gonna be amazing. Lesley Logan 2:36 All right, we have Erin Donohue. Brad Crowell 2:38 Okay. Lesley Logan 2:38 She is an eLevate OG grad. Brad Crowell 2:40 Oh, yeah. Lesley Logan 2:41 And she wrote so many wins. Backstory to my personal win. With the help of Lesley Logan, my incredible partner, Kim Craig, and the amazing ladies in my eLevate cohort, I've realized my worth and found the strength to leave my emotionally abusive marriage. I had to quit my job in a private practice PT, and take a hospital-based job to get health insurance and a salary to pay my bills. After a year of hustling, I saved up enough money for the eLevate retreat in 2025. I can't wait. My practice win, I made time for movement snacks throughout the week. It helped me stay consistent. Today was 15 minutes on the chair before my afternoon client. My teaching win, I have a client who practices Pilates in a bigger body. She told me this week after a session, I never thought I'd find a form of exercise that I like, but I really like this. I am so honored to teach her.Brad Crowell 3:26 Wow, that is a lot. Lesley Logan 3:28 I'm emotional.Brad Crowell 3:29 That is a lot. Lesley Logan 3:30 I'm gonna cry. So first of all, a year ago, we're on winter tour, and on the day that this comes out, we'll have just seen Erin in Hershey, actually. Brad Crowell 3:39 Oh, fun. Lesley Logan 3:40 I don't know. Maybe not. Guys, don't ask. Two days from now, we're gonna see Erin in Hershey two days from now. Okay, so we're recording this in the past for the future. But she had said are you going to do the Elevate retreat again? ...

Lesley Logan 0:42 Welcome back to Be It Till You See It. You guys, we are continuing our, what do you call it? A round up, babe? You call it collection?Brad Crowell 0:49 Yeah, we call it the December round-up.Lesley Logan 0:51 Yeah. It's basically like a reflection review. And this particular episode has four of our favorite guests that have to do with health. We have these, have had multiple episodes that have to do with health.Brad Crowell 1:03 Many, many, many. Lesley Logan 1:04 Many. And so we are going to span the wide ranging topic of health, which can be a lot of things. We've got the tripod of health. We've got hormones in this one. We're gonna have sex in this one. Brad Crowell 1:13 Yeah, food is as part of the tripod. Lesley Logan 1:15 Yes, yes. We got lots of stuff so. Brad Crowell 1:18 Fitness, of course. Lesley Logan 1:19 So if you have been wondering, what health episode should I listen to during this chaotic month of December when most of my podcasts aren't listing anything new? The Be It Pod has given you four awesome ones, and we'll link even the numbers. You can go back and listen to the full interview in our catalog when you're ready.Brad Crowell 1:38 Let's dig in the first episode that we're gonna talk about today, that we're bringing back is episode number 25.Lesley Logan 1:45 Twenty-five.Brad Crowell 1:45 Twenty-five all the way back towards the very beginning.Lesley Logan 1:49 It's like 2022.Brad Crowell 1:51 We had a chance to interview Uma Naralkar, who talks a lot about food and nutrition, and we have two sections of this that we thought were really spectacular. So.Lesley Logan 2:07 Yeah, so first up, I really, I thought it was really cool and vulnerable that she talked about when she moved to the US and what the food was like, and how that challenged her and got her interested in what she has become known for, and being a nutritionist and things like that. So I'm really excited for us to hear her story of moving to the US.Brad Crowell 2:27 Yeah, so, and also she talked about this, her process of how she works with her clients, and she created something called the Tripod of Optimal Health. And I'm not going to tell you what it is, because you're going to hear it just after this. So tune in.Uma Naralkar 2:41 The biggest difference for me was the food, right? So in India, we have a lot of health. Inherently, there's health and cooks and food is never something that I had to even think about. So that's the reason why it was always so well -balanced and healthy, because it was like home-cooked Indian food and all the beautiful dals and vegetables, and it was primarily vegetarian. We ate meat on the weekends as like a treat. Dessert would always be homemade, something made in ghee, like, very, very like, decently portioned. And I came to America where everything was supersized, right? And I was a student. And, I mean, I was, first, it was shocking, then it was exciting, and then it was kind of like, I didn't have a choice. I was hungry, and I had to eat, and I was a student, so it was like, McDonald's and all the other and it was truly exciting, I have to say, in the beginning, because I was like, what is going on? Why are these people eating so much? But it was a huge adjustment. And you know, when you're asking me about how I, you know, the thing that I had to kind of like, get over and just be like, I'm going to embody this. I am. You know, the book Atomic Habits. Have you read that?Lesley Logan 4:01 Yes. Uma Naralkar 4:01 James Clear. He talks about shifting your identity to who you want to be. Do you remember that part of the book? What he's saying is that if you, you know you, if you want something, if you truly believe that you want something, you need to believe that you have it, and ...

Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:42 Hi, Be It babe. Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview, not recap, but episodes, recaps. Brad Crowell 0:48 What? Lesley Logan 0:49 What? What are we doing here? Well. Brad Crowell 0:50 We're changing it up. Lesley Logan 0:51 We're changing it up for December, and we're figuring it out as we go along. But actually, the team has prepared really epic episodes for you for all month long, and today's episode is some of our favorite relationship episodes. So we're actually going to have four different clips for you from some of our favorite guests who have something to say about relationships. Brad Crowell 1:09 Yeah, yeah. So we're going to dig in. Lesley Logan 1:11 So whether you're single or not, there's actually probably a clip in here for you. And we know that we just, I mentioned this is episode 457, which means there's a couple 100 episodes of interviews, and if you just are joining us now, you might not have listened to all of those. So what our hope is this month is that by clipping some of our favorite parts of different topics, that it might take you to a direct episode that's going to really work with what you need and where you're at. So today's episode is on relationship, but we'll have grief, we'll have divorce, we'll have masculine and feminine energy guests. We actually have one about narcissism. So you know, relationships is a broad topic. So you can be single or in a relationship, and you could be super happy and still have some clip in here that might resonate with you. So here we go.Lesley Logan 1:59 All right. Loves our first clip we have for you is from our guest Renee Bauer, back in Episode 217. The topic is on divorce, and one of the parts I really loved, and I want you to hear is about just owning it.Brad Crowell 2:11 Yeah and the second part that we really liked in this episode was about finding your tribe. So here we go. Renee Bauer 2:23 I had gone on a friend’s podcast and she started, she said, I’m gonna interview you. I’ll bring sushi over. We’ll have a couple martinis. It’ll be all good. So she did that. I’m like, ooh, sushi, okay. I’m in. We poured the martini. She clipped on the mic and she started asking me about my divorce and maybe I was a little buzzed, but I actually started answering really honestly. And when that episode came out, people had reached out to me to say like, hey, that was my story too. Thank you for speaking so vulnerably about it. And that’s when I realized I need to talk about this and not be ashamed about it. And so now, now it’s like, it’s second nature to just, to be like, yeah, I’m divorced twice, so what? You know? And so it was, it was sharing it, and I think so often, People don’t wanna share that. And they’re almost like, apologize. It’s like, you know, the whisper like, oh, I’m divorced, or I’m twice divorced. And it’s like, just own it. Be like, you know what? I was in two relationships that didn’t work out and I made the brave decision to leave that because I wanted more from our family, for us, for our kids. And you know, that’s okay. Find your tribe. Find a support system that may not include friends and family. So those people who are around you now, they’re really well intentioned, but they may not be the best person to go to. So find a community of people, and there’s so many of them out there in this world, and like, I have a private Facebook group for divorced women, but find a really positive tribe of people who get what you’re going through so you don’t feel so alone in it.Lesley Logan 4:00 All right, so now we're going to talk about the topic of grief. And Krista St-Germain from Episode 235, one of the most beautif...

Lesley Logan 1:11 At any rate, you guys, if this is your first time joining us, what we actually do is we celebrate some wins of yours that you send in and a win of one of ours, and then we end with a mantra, and oh, I got some new cards. I guess I'll get those for the next one, not for this one. But don't worry, you've got a mantra at the end of this. Do not stress. We're just taking you behind the scenes on how this goes down. Lesley Logan 1:32 So let's get started with a win of yours. This is from Kristin Salmans. She is a eLevate grad and Agency member, and she wrote. After our eLevate call, Friday, I saw my hypermobile prospect client, put her on the spine corrector, like we discussed, and then took her to the reformer. After a few things there, I decided to put her on the box and use the weights to work on her arm, back connection. It was amazing. When we finished, she said that was hard, and I've done a lot of hard things. That was so hard we found connected. She was so much more open through her neck and her shoulders. She's got homework. Thank you. It's working. Brad Crowell 2:07 Love that. Lesley Logan 2:07 I love it too. You know, one of the things that we do with eLevate grads is we have alumni calls that they can join and they can ask questions about their practice or about a client they're working with, and they get feedback and hypermobile, crossfit client isn't normal. Brad Crowell 2:21 It is not normal. That's true.Lesley Logan 2:22 And so it was just really, really fun. So Kristin, thank you for sharing that with us. All this is to say is like a lot of times you don't have to be a Pilates instructor to have this win. Sometimes we think something should be easier because we're really good at something else. And honestly, what we really have to do is actually go about things a different way, to recognize, oh, I'm not doing it like that. Like Brad's super hypermobile and he has yoga, but when he actually focuses on some of his foundations, he finds that it's really hard and really difficult to do. Lesley Logan 2:51 Okay, I have another win I want to share. This one's from Rachel Hines. She actually went on a Cambodia retreat with us over a year ago. She's an agency member, and she wrote, I was extremely sick this week, kept testing negative for COVID and other various things, ended up in an urgent care and basically they said it's just some kind of virus. Anyway, that's not the win part. I have been out of the studio for five whole days, and because of my team, the studio was completely covered. I have an awesome studio manager and great instructors that everything just kept moving. My studio manager took her first official meeting without me. It took time to get to this point, and I've been very particular with hiring and everyone reflects our brand and our mission. Brad Crowell 3:27 That's amazing. Congratulations. Lesley Logan 3:29 Congratulations.Brad Crowell 3:30 That's like the ideal.Lesley Logan 3:31 I know, I know, when we met Rachel, you know what a difference a year makes, is what I really actually want to say. And this being the FYFs of December, you kind of want something to happen yesterday, but actually this win is because she has been so consistent with her mission and her values and making sure that the team that she has and that she keeps and that she nurtures is aligned with those. This is why you want to do that. So when you're sick, you're not like 'and these fucking people don't know how to answer an email and respond and handle the studio while I was sick for five days.' So this is why you do it.Brad Crowell 4:03 That's amazing. Well, congratulations. That's really exciting. Lesley Logan 4:03 Yeah, Brad, do you want to take this week's win? Or I could do it. Brad Crowell 4:08 I do want to take this week's win. Well, I'm gonna piggyback off of Rachel. We had a similar e...

Lesley Logan 0:16 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:58 Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig into the impactful convo I had with Kelsey Lensman in our last episode. If you haven't yet listened to that episode, you've missed out on a really fun chick. She is cool as fuck. I really enjoyed her. So you can go back and listen that one, come back and listen to this one. You can listen to this one. You're already here and then go back and listen to that one. Lesley Logan 1:18 But first, Today is December 5th 2024 and it's Celebrate Shelter Pets Day. We're just going to celebrate shelter pets? You should go adopt a shelter pet today. Brad Crowell 1:28 That's exactly what this is all about. Lesley Logan 1:30 Celebrate Shelter Pets Day is on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving. The day brings awareness to pets such as dogs and cats that are in shelters. A lot of people often think of adopting a pet from a shelter home, but they don't always follow through that thought, because they think there's somethingwrong with shelter pets. They are wrong. Most people who have adopted shelter pets can testify that shelter groups are full of great pets that provide companionship. There are, unfortunately, some pets in the shelter that are deemed unadoptable because of fear, perceived aggression or anxiety. But even these issues can be managed if addressed properly. Did you know it takes a dog three days to relax in the stress of being in a shelter. Then it takes three weeks for them to understand your routine, and then by three months, they are fully in your family. So y'all who are buying pretty dogs who you're trying to convince me it's because your allergies. They come with their own problems, too. In fact, a lot of purebreds have a lot of problems. So we highly recommend a little mix of a mutt of some kind. They're super fun. Also, some of these shelter dogs are being fostered in a home. You can also find out right away if they're good with kids or dogs, because the shelters find this out. So when I follow all the local animal adopted in Las Vegas, and they'll go Duchess. She's a tripod, super great with kids who are gentle, not good with other dogs. She needs to be your only Duchess in the house. There's a really, they know these things. Brad Crowell 2:51 They're trying to set these dogs up for success. Lesley Logan 2:52 Yeah. And when you buy a dog, you don't know. You don't know. You don't know. You have no idea what that puppy's gonna be like. You don't know. So we highly recommend it. Brad Crowell 3:01 We've done that. Lesley Logan 3:02 We all, Bayon was at a kill shelter.Brad Crowell 3:04 Yeah, Gaia, I rescued her. She wasn't from a shelter, but Bayon was at a kill shelter.Lesley Logan 3:06 Before you rescued her, she'd been rescued from another shelter. You have the courage that not many people would have ever even had to pursue that, let alone to finish, let alone to start. Lesley Logan 0:18 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:57 Be It babe, get ready. Get ready to be inspired. Get ready to feel like you're having coffee with two of your girlfriends. Get ready to feel empowered and also to be challenged in the best way. Today, our guest is Kelsey Lensman, and I, I think I want to be her best friend now. I do. I do. I have, like, already followed her. I've hit the notifications bell. Whatever she is doing, I want in I don't know that she'll get me to do a couple of the things that she does, but there's a couple things I think I might be inclined to do because I'm inspired by her and her energy and her enthusiasm to support women and help women challenge themselves in a way, to see like what they're fully capable of. And so get ready. I mean, really, you're going to be inspired and empowered by Kelsey Lensman. Here she is. Lesley Logan 1:44 All right, Be It babe. I am really excited, because when I talked to today's guest, I was so impressed, so wowed, so in awe. I was like, how did you do what you did? We have to talk about this. I need to know more, and I wanted to share that with you. So Kelsey Lensman, thank you so much for being here today. Can you tell them who you are and what you rock at? Kelsey Lensman 2:00 Oh, man, that's a load of question. No, first, I just want to say thank you for having me, and everybody that's listening, thank you for continuing to listen in. I know that she just has so much gold here. So I'm excited to share just a little part of my journey to hopefully inspire you to keep thinking forward. But to give you guys a little bit of background, I won't go into the whole story, but I own a company, we actually just rebranded, it's called Xpand Your Limits, and we do all women's different strength events, endurance events, and just events that challenge women outside of their comfort zone to really show themselves what they're capable of. And that aligns with my own mission, personally, too. And this is where Lesley and I connected is last year I did a crazy thing. It's either crazy or amazing, whoever you talk to, but it was called Mission 48 and I did the 48 different fitness competitions in 48 states, and the kicker was in 48 days. And it was all about really inspiring women and young girls to really build true self confidence, not just what people see on Instagram, but like actually building that within themselves, to really just step out of their comfort zone, do hard things and show yourself what you're capable of. Then we raise money for charity and all of that. So as you can tell, I'm just really passionate about just breaking beliefs of what people are capable of, and just seeing what's already within you and pulling it out, in my opinion. Lesley L...

Brad Crowell 0:01 Fuck yeah. Lesley Logan 0:02 Get ready for some wins. Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:46 Hi, Be It babe. Okay, it is that Friday after Thanksgiving here in the States, and instead of doing wins, I wanted to do some gratitude. So I wanted to take a moment and to share my gratitude for you, and also for this podcast. So it's not a solo episode, because it's gonna be quick and short, and I'll still have a mantra. Lesley Logan 1:07 But, Thanksgiving holiday is always a lot. I used to work in retail, okay? And so what that meant is a really slow several days. Couldn't go home for Thanksgiving because I had to be at work at eight in the morning the day after, and literally work until the mall closed. There was just no leaving and just not really enjoy the holiday, because all of my friends traveled. I lived in Southern California, and so from the 2001 to 2009 I did never have a Thanksgiving, and so I would just literally eat Chinese food, the gluten free version, and kind of be at home. And I'd watch Home For The Holidays, which is a great movie if you've never watched. It's a Thanksgiving movie, and it just used to make me laugh, because the family is like so many nuances. There's so much drama and there's so much stuff, and even in all of the chaos and all the family dynamics and all this stuff, there's like gratitude in there. And so now I don't really work the week of Thanksgiving. Have a couple things I had to do end of the week, but really from Wednesday on, except for, like, some social media stuff to remote the sales that we have, Brad and I get to just spend it thinking about our family and thinking about what we're grateful for, and thinking about the friends in our life, and then we go and support small businesses on Saturday. We get all of our Christmas shopping done, and we try to do it using small businesses as much as possible. Obviously, sometimes our friends and family want things that are not at small businesses, but that's what our goal is. Lesley Logan 2:34 And I share those with you because in this moment, I'm so grateful for you. I do not take lightly that you use some of your minutes of your day to spend with me and the guests that I bring on. And not every guest is going to be enlightening and change your world, but if it even gives you insight on someone else's world, that, to me, is a huge win, and I'm very grateful if it gives you some insight on some ways to be empathetic to people who are different than you, then that is a win, and I'm grateful for that. And if it allows you to go, oh my God, that's what's been holding me back, then I am so grateful. And that is a win. Lesley Logan 3:11 And so you know, as this podcast is hitting three and a half years at the end of this year. Holy moly. And we are so many episodes. And this is episode 453 I mean, I feel like we just listened to Episode 400 so the fact that there's been 53 more, I learn new things that (inaudible) these guests. And so some of, this podcast was selfishly started because I struggle to be it till I see it. I sometimes start to worry about what other people will think, or what could go wrong, or maybe we should do this, because that's what's working for other people. And sometimes I can doubt things. And so this podcast forces me to be it till I see it, because I would be out of alignment and integrity. And my hope is that this podcast is a reminder to you that for the person you want to be, for the thing that you want to do, for the things you want in this life, first of all, it's all possible, and second of all, it comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and being it until you see it, from taking your goals that you have and working backwards and then acting as if it's already happened, and trusting the process, and not in the way that you're doing the secret, But in the way that I'm going to take action towards this thing that I want, and I'm going to be the person who would have the thing that I want already. And then between those two things, between the being it, and then also action, I'm going to ditch some of that fear and ditch that imposter syndrome, and I'm going to truly make these things happen, and it's been really cool to watch and hear from so many of you who listen on how different episodes have helped you be it till you see it. So, thank you. Lesley Logan 4:52 Thank you to the team who puts this together. Could not do this without you. Thank you to my friends and family who are the first listeners. Who helped get this off the ground. And thank you to all of our guests who have taken time out of your busy life to let me ask you questions. And thank you to you for listening, no matter which episodes or how many episodes you've listened to. So this is your first one. Hi. Thank you. And my big ask is that you send in some wins as this year wraps up, I want to celebrate them with you, and you share this with a friend. It doesn't have to be this episode, but share your favorite episode with a friend, and I'm going to say thank you in advance. Thank you so much. Lesle...

Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:52 Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig into the confident convo I had with Sarah Alysse Bobo in our last episode. If you haven't yet listened to that one. You have missed out and you should listen to it. But you can listen to this one first, and then listen to that one. You can do whatever order you want. And then if you listen to that one first, you want to come back and join us here, because we've got lots of fun stuff to talk about. First, today is November 28th.Brad Crowell 1:14 Oh yeah.Lesley Logan 1:14 That means it's Thanksgiving Day Brad Crowell 1:17 And Lesley Logan 1:18 The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Do they still do it? Brad Crowell 1:21 Oh, they still do it. It's also the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.Lesley Logan 1:24 So America's Thanksgiving holiday, born in the 1500s, mythologized in 1621, and observed even during the bleakest hours of the Civil War, now stands as one of the nation's most anticipated and beloved dates. Is it, though? Is it? I celebrate each year. Brad Crowell 1:41 It's definitely part of American society, like football and.Lesley Logan 1:45 Yeah, but like, guess what are people anticipating and beloving? Brad Crowell 1:48 Travel. I mean, it's the most traveled holiday in the United States (inaudible). Lesley Logan 1:51 I think people are, they've bought into this Hallmark situation of family being together. But anyways, celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday in November, and this year it's on November 28th which means it's freaking so close to Christmas. It's less, that means Christmas is less than a month away. Brad Crowell 2:07 Every time. Every year. Lesley Logan 2:09 Sometimes it's close. Sometimes it's not the 28th. Sometimes it's like, earlier. This feels late to me. Brad Crowell 2:15 Yeah, it's the fourth Thursday of the month. But yeah, it's always like. Lesley Logan 2:18 I feel like it can happen sooner. Brad Crowell 2:20 It can. Yes. Perhaps the other non-sectarian holiday has more tradition. Non-sectarian means non-religious. Friends, food, family, football. I've come to symbolize Thanksgiving, a rare celebratory holiday without an exchange gift giving component. Instead, today urges all of us to be grateful for the things that we have. And for those of you who have no idea what we're talking about. This is very, it's a very American holiday, so thanks for listening and bearing with us here. Also, what is this Macy's Day Parade that we're talking about? It's one of the biggest and most anticipated events during this holiday. Everyone puts it on the TV. Everyone freezes their ass off in New York City, it's become a tradition among families to watch it.Lesley Logan 2:57 I like to see if one of those balloons takes off. I really love. Brad Crowell 3:01 You're in it for the fail? Lesley Logan 3:02 Yes, but I and then I caution. I also want to say, like, no one wanted anyone to hurt. (inaudible) no one gets hurt and Snoopy just like, goes off and becomes Godzilla.Brad Crowell 3:12 Okay, so, okay. So this is amazing to me. I grew up watching the Macy's Day Parade, and it's the first time that I was ever introduced to a concept of drag. Lesley Logan 3:21 Oh. Brad Crowell 3:22 ...

And I said I want to change this because I don't want this to be a continual generational trauma, if you will, for family, for generations, and it's something that I noticed my mom would do to herself, and I needed to make it stop. Lesley Logan 0:20 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:59 All right, babes, you know what I just sang in my head? That is going to only, it's a nerdy joke, but I was just, I can't sing. But it was just like, let's talk about stress, baby. That's what this episode is about. I won't keep singing the song because I'm obviously not (inaudible) I can't sing. And if you don't know that that was making fun of another song, then you need to get out into the 80s and 90s rap a little bit more. I'm just saying. Sarah Alysse Bobo is our guest today. She is so funny. We were introduced by Jessica Papineau, which you all know her from the pod, and I did not know that she was a Pilates instructor when I was introduced to her. What I knew is that she's multifaceted person. She does improv and confidence coaching and all this amazing stuff. But more importantly, she goes into court places, and she helps people with stress management. And don't we all need someone to help us manage our stress a little bit. So we get to go on a journey with her and hear how she got into that, and also the tools she uses to kind of have some awareness. And the good news is a lot of them are free, so you can try them out yourself, and then make sure you reach out to Sarah Alysse and let her know how they worked in your life, and also share this with a friend who needs it. Here is Sarah Alysse. Lesley Logan 2:08 All right, Be It babe, this is gonna be a really fun convo, because today's guest and I have already had multiple conversations before, and she is super cool, one of those friendships where, like, I totally missed a call, time zone problems, different things. I happen to be on this amazing person's podcast, but she was introduced by a mutual friend, whom we all have loved, who's been on the podcast before. So Sarah Alysse Bobo, can you tell everyone who you are and what you rock at? Sarah Alysse Bobo 2:29 Yes, my name is Sarah Alysse Bobo, and I am a stress management consultant, but I also love, love, love Pilates. That was my first job post college, and I just love that Lesley and I can connect on that, and I still am very much so in the fitness world. So I'm very excited for this conversation.Lesley Logan 2:50 I know I love that you're not just a fitness trainer., you actually teach Pilates. you know what it is, you know all the things about it. But I guess why I want to start is, how do you go from a Pilates instructor to a stress management I mean, like, what, that feels like a big, it's just not a big leap. It makes sense we get people in class all the time or distress cases. But what was the impetus? How did we do it?Sarah Alysse Bobo 3:12 Yeah, so, well, one thing was, is, I was a stress ball. I was typical Type A personality Pilates trainer. I mean, counting to a 100 all the time, you've got to have a little bit of Type A to you. And so counti...
