Do you ever feel like people tune out when you're trying to help? You’re listening, offering advice, maybe even sharing your own story…but somehow, they shut down? In this episode, I break down the powerful communication skill of active listening. It’s a simple, often overlooked tool that deepens connection and builds trust in your relationships. Whether you’re a parent, a partner, or a leader, learning how to listen without fixing can transform how others respond to you. I will walk you through the four essential steps of active listening in relationships, how to recognize the type of conversation you're in (thanks Charles Duhigg!), and why your good intentions might be missing the mark. If you want to improve communication, connect more deeply with your kids, or stop feeling like you’re doing all the talking and none of the bonding, this episode is for you. You’ll leave with tools you can use today to feel more confident, calm, and connected in the moments that matter most. Sometimes no matter what we do, life throws us curve balls. Recently, I found myself back in the hospital (I had spent 13 days there last year) in a pretty scary situation. I felt a whole range of emotions, from fear to frustration to disappointment to overwhelm, and even some helplessness. 😣 Because of the years and years of training I’ve had to help others and of me having my own life coach, I was able to manage in what I consider a mentally healthy way. Instead of spiraling into anxiety, fear and overwhelm, I leaned on three powerful life coaching tools to stay calm, process my emotions, and get through it with more ease. I come on this week (from the hospital, so please excuse the audio!) to highlight them for you so you can find ease when life goes upside down for you. In this episode, I walk you through: - The What If? CBT tool and how it shifts anxious thoughts - The Zoom In, Zoom Out method to gain perspective - Clean pain vs. dirty pain and why it matters All of us face uncertainty and things that are out of our control (especially now 😬). These life coaching tools really work. Humaning can be hard yet learning these (and using them) are what I use when things go bad. Listen in to this episode of the Love Your Life Show to help you navigate life’s challenges with more peace and confidence. Learn how to take control of your mindset—even in the hardest moments. Job loss, health diagnoses, teenage drama, marital problems, divorce, you name it, I’ve used these tools for it. 💙 If you liked this show, you’ll like this one: What if on Apple Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/ph/podcast/what-if/id1434429161?i=1000568069716 What if on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/episode/4X9aSg2YOSbgaxchBPE7vJ?si=4e5e85b2c49c41d6 Feel Better Fast on Apple Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/ph/podcast/feel-better-fast-flip-it/id1434429161?i=1000598692640 Feel Better Fast on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/episode/0UuyHJ0O1C5RNDTrHjFeJb?si=f0ffc9db2e2e4b1e Dirty Pain on Apple Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/ph/podcast/dirty-pain/id1434429161?i=1000467951959 Dirty Pain on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/episode/7lCyv2rAoeoL3yA7yRp7Iz?si=d6261d8c3c0d4087 To read more and peruse the full show notes, go here 👉🏾 https://SMBwell.com/349 CONNECT WITH COACH SUSIE: ↻ Website - https://smbwell.com ↻ The Love Your Life School Membership - http://theLoveYourLifeSchool.com ↻ Support Susie’s Mission: https://patreon.com/susiepettit ↻ YouTube - LOVE YOUR LIFE VLOG - YouTube https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW9PibXJfNpKk5Yr6rpNVq4P_utWFkvYS ↻ Instagram - https://instagram.com/smb.wellness The post Hospital Stay: Life Coaching Tools for Anxiety that WORK appeared first on Susie Pettit.

Perimenopause & Menopause: What You Need to Know Warriors! I am so excited to bring you this episode. Earlier this month, I went to a perimenopause and menopause training with top experts like Dr. Mary Clare Haver, Dr. Kelly Casperson, Dr. Louise Newson, and Dr. Vonda Wright. Two big things jumped out at me from the full day of training while surrounded by thousands of other women and I share them with you today. We've been told a lot of things about menopause—most of them wrong. In this episode, I’m breaking down the biggest myths (spoiler: high-intensity workouts aren’t the answer, low-fat diets aren’t helping, and wine isn’t a healthy food). Plus, I’ll share small, doable shifts that can make a huge difference in your energy, brain health, and long-term well-being. If you’re navigating perimenopause or menopause—or just want to set yourself up for a strong, vibrant future—this one’s for you! Anxiety is at an all time high - whether it’s our polarizing political climate, our actual climate 🔥, our teen’s anxiety, or any number of other factors in your life, we’re feeling it! And while anxiety itself isn’t a signal that something is wrong with your or your teen, when it turns more into panic, it gets unmanageable. Well, I’ve been there. I’ve had my share of panic attacks and helped teens with theirs. Today I offer help for when we are feeling panicky, either on the verge of our own panic attack or we’re freaking out because our teen or young adult is anxious or having panic attacks. In this week’s Love Your Life Show, I’m sharing three simple, powerful steps to help you manage anxiety before it spirals into a panic attack. These tools aren’t just for emergencies—they’re skills you can use every day to feel more grounded, calm, and in control. I really hope you’ll listen in. As I said, I’ve been there so know how life-changing these steps can be. I’m sharing how we can instead strengthen their inner coach, the voice that builds resilience and confidence, while staying calm and grounded ourselves.
